Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

Archer considered, humming softly in thought as he ate a few bites of his food. "Probably. I knew a few of the songs from down south I could teach you. No words, though, we'll just have to figure out which strings to pluck together." She would have to show him which string was which note before he could teach her to play.

"Sounds like a plan," she smiled softly. She started eating her food, looking around for a moment at the scenery. "Have you been to other far away places besides just the far east?" she asked.

Archer shrugged slightly. "I've been pretty far north, and even further south, not too much west, though. I've only been on a few boats in my time, though, and going to the east was a hardship. Thank heavens I don't get sea sick, at least."

Archer laughed a little. "I don't think you'd like anything more than crossing a lake. The ocean is a violent body of water, at times, and it tosses you about. Also, sailors are not always the friendliest, and there's always the risk of pirates." He'd encountered that before, and come out of it alive, though he'd had to make some compromises he didn't like - but Lucius wisely didn't ask about that, and he wasn't saying.

Archer shook his head, taking another bite of food and watching the clouds go by if only to avoid looking at her. "Haven't been waylaid myself, but I've heard the stories. Saw a ship get blown out of the water in the distance, once. Cannons are a powerful thing."

She shuddered at that, "That sounds horrible." She noticed he wasn't looking at her and she took that as he didn't want to talk about it. "So I was thinking about your costume and what do you think about flames on it?"

Archer smiled a little, then laughed softly. "Flames are fine. I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as 'too flashy' in the circus."

Archer clapped his hands a little, grinning, then ate some more and pushed his empty plate aside. "Flames and swords in mostly white clothes. I'm going to look like such a -" He paused, glanced at her, then kept his mouth shut, trying not to laugh. ". . . Nevermind." He was not going to introduce her to the term for men that . . . liked men. Or why he knew how they dressed.

She looked at him and cocked her head to the side. "You're going to look like what?" she asked. "If you don't like it we can think of something else," she said.

Archer shook his head, pressing his lips into a thin line to keep from just bursting out into laughter. "N-No, no," He said quickly. "It's fine. Flames are fine." He did not want to have that discussion. She was too innocent.

((I am so cracking up lol))

She sighed as she looked at him, narrowing her eyes a bit but just shrugged. "If you say so," she said going back to her food.

(( xD I thought it would be funny lol))

Archer had to take a few more minutes just breathing carefully before he calmed down again, and stood with his empty plate, holding out a hand for hers as well. "We should probably start helping out soon."

((Lol ^_^ it was))

She handed him her plate and stood up, nodding. "We should go see if Lucius fell back asleep as well."

Archer looked around as they walked and shook his head, pointing. "Oh, he's fine. Look, he's already found his girlfriend again."

Melody looked at him and said, "They just met. I doubt they are boyfriend and girlfriend."

~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh hey," Natalie said smiling at Lucius.
Archer looked at her, trying to determine if she was joking or not, and just sighed, slumping his shoulders. "You know, it's not very fun to tease him if you don't get the jokes."
*****************
Lucius smiled a little and walked up to where Natalie was standing. "Good morning, Natalie. I was stranded this morning, so I thought I'd help with whatever you and Alrin are doing." If Alrin was even with her. Lucius hadn't seen him.
"Hm?" she asked and then realized what he meant. "I'm sorry," she said. She would have to be more careful next time, she didn't want to put him down. She grabbed his hand and smiled softly at him. "I do think that they would make a cute couple though," she added, but it wasn't in a teasing manner like he had done before. "Come on, let's just get these tents down."
~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Master's busy right now, so I'm on my own helping take down these tents. You can help with that though." She smiled at him softly.

Archer wanted to say 'that's the spirit', but she seemed entirely serious so he just looked over at the two, then walked away with Melody. "If you say so. You're the boss."

*******************

Lucius managed not to wince at the word Master, and just nodded, moving to follow her. "I'd be happy to help."

Melody just smiled at him, giggling a bit before starting to untie the knots, being careful to not have the tent drop on her again.

Natalie nodded and smiled, getting busy on untying the ropes expertly, she had been doing it for years after all. "So...where did you come from?" she asked. "If you don't mind me asking."

Lucius smiled a little as he supported the tent to keep it from falling. "It's all right. We came from the east a ways. Not a big kingdom, but a decent enough one. I miss it, sometimes, but it's good to be on the road, too."

She smiled softly and nodded. "It must be nice to get to settle in one place," she said. She had been traveling most of her life and she wished that for once she could just settle somewhere.

Lucius nodded a little, helping her to pull the poles out once the ropes and pegs were removed. "It's nice to be able to be together. There's only one person I really left behind, and I doubt he would've ever come with us." Aaric had too much honor to do what they'd done, and a limp besides. He wouldn't be able to travel this way, even as strong as he always was.
