Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

"Goodnight," Natalie said, sneaking off to her tent and thankfully, she didn't get caught and Alrin was fast asleep.

Melody slept soundly throughout the night only waking up once morning came.

In the morning, Archer woke from where he'd fallen asleep, next to Melody now because he didn't worry about anyone's suspicions. He stretched with a yawn, back bowing up off the ground as he stretched his arms and legs as far as they would go, then just flopped back down again. "Good morning."

Melody smiled seeing Archer sleeping next to her and she took that as him telling Lucius last night like he said. "Morning," she smiled at him, starting to stretch a bit herself. "Sleep good?" she asked him.

Archer just smiled a little, groggily. "Usually do. It's kinda nice sleeping inside a tent rather than just on a blanket on the ground."

"I agree," she said. "Especially if it starts raining." She hated that, though usually they could find some sort of cover.

Archer laughed a little. "The first time we got caught in the rain, you looked about as uncomfortable as a wet cat."

"Well," she said. "It was the first time I was ever caught in the rain and I didn't like it."

Archer nodded, though he was still struggling with not just laughing out loud. "I know, I know - but you were pouting and it was adorable!"

She sighed a bit and dramatically rolled her eyes, but she did smile at him. She looked over at Lucius and asked, "So...how did he take it?"

It was Archer's turn to pout, then, and he waved a hand vaguely around in the air. "The little sucker already knew! We could've been doing what we wanted all this time!"

Melody chuckled a bit at him and said, "Well, at least he's alright with it." But she did wonder what would happen if he wasn't.

Archer shrugged and nodded, smiling because she'd laughed at least a little. "I didn't really suspect he wouldn't be. He'd have my head if I was anything less than chivalrous, but that's completely different."

Melody smiled softly at him. "Well then," she said. "Do you want to wait for him to wake up, or go get breakfast now and bring it back here?"

Archer shrugged a little and flopped his arms around. "I'd best get up before I decide to sleep again. Let's leave him to his beauty rest for now." Lucius was sleeping soundly here, feeling comfortable for once, and Archer didn't want to ruin that.

Melody chuckled and nodded. "Okay then." She grabbed his hand and got up, leaving the tent with him. It was such a beautiful morning. "I guess we'll be having to take the tents down again soon." She wondered if they were close to the town they were going to yet.

Archer nodded a little even as they made their way to get food. "That's the way of nomadic living, you know. It'll happen every morning we're not settled in a town for a couple nights, then we'll start all over again."

"I know," she said then smirked a bit. "So I might as well get used to it right." She chuckled a bit. "I don't really mind, it's not that hard of work anyways."

He nodded and threaded his fingers through hers as they walked, grinning. "Maybe you'll even build up a little muscle after we do it a while. But don't worry, I'll be here to do the heavy lifting until then."

She laughed and said, "Thanks. I guess I'm lucky to have you around." She then stuck her tongue out at him as they made it to the food tent.

Archer rolled his eyes and patted the back of her hand. "You are very lucky to have me around, thank you. I'm glad you know it."

Melody chuckled and kissed him softly and briefly before heading into the tent. She grabbed their portion of the food and handed Archer his. "Let's just go bring Lucius his and then we can go somewhere else."

Archer nodded and followed her back to the tent, where he went in and nudged Lucius awake enough for the boy to eat, then went back out with Melody. "Shall we find a nice grassy place to sit down?"

"I think we shall," she smiled, after she had given Lucius his food. She then went out with him and found a nice clearing for them to sit and enjoy their breakfast. "It's such a beautiful day," she said. She thought of something. "Hey, do you know any more songs that you can teach me to play on my harp?" She hadn't been playing it for a while now and thought it was time to get it to use.
