Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

Acher shrugged as best he could and just started walking once she was beside him again. "When it comes to wilderness survival, yes. . . I didn't hurt you, did I?" He'd tried not to, but he'd also needed to be fast. At leas the was lucky and she hadnt eaten one, hopefully because he'd told her before not to eat berries without showing him.

"No," she said, shaking her head. "You didn't, just surprised me is all." She followed along with him and looked around at the scenery. "The forest is so beautiful," she said. But it could also be scary, especially at night.

He smiled faintly. "Good. . . Enjoy it now while you can. I hope to have us back to some sort of civilization before too long." He wanted to be out of the forest without spending more than a single night sleeping on the ground.

((Gtg to work. Bye!))

((Bye))

She smiled softly at him and nodded. "I don't think I would mind that," she stated smiling a bit. "I rather can't wait to sleep in a bed again. But Lucius would need one too, maybe a healer would have one he could take." She was being hopeful.

Archer nodded and smiled faintly, then just kept walking. "If we need one, we'll find one. We'll just tell them that we're traveling and he exhausted himself." It was the truth, though only part of the truth, so they would have to believe it.

"Maybe we could try and get two beds this time?" she asked him. "So we can at least all have something soft to sleep on? We could be cousins," she said. "We wouldn't really need to look similar for that."

Archer considered it, tilting his head back and forth if only to loosen up his neck a bit while carrying Lucius. "We'll just do that, then. Lu and I can share." Archer knew Lucius would never let him live it down if he woke to Archer sleeping in the same bed as Melody. "Cousins is close enough."

she waited for his answer, hoping he would agree, otherwise she would just argue her point. It wouldn't be fair for any of them to have to sleep on the ground, especially Archer after having to carry someone else and Lucius would definitely need a bed. She smiled when he agreed and said, "Thank you."

((You want to time skip a bit, until they find civilization or something else?))

((Yeah, I was gonna say that soon lol))

It took a full day to find the road and follow it to town. Not much of anything still had open doors by the time they were there, but they caught the innkeeper and managed to get a room for themselves. They were cousins traveling to get Melody to her sickly brother, not far away. That was the story they used, and it was close enough. Once inside, Archer dumped Lucius on the bed and just collapsed next to him, tired from carrying both his weight and the other boy's for so long. When he could he would stand and get food and water, as their supplies were dwindling, but for now it was time for sleep.

((Lol))

When they found a rode, she was ecstatic, tired of having to walk. She was very tired, but then imagined what Archer must be feeling having to carry his own weight plus Lucius's. Finally though, they came to a town and went straight to an inn. The ploy worked and Melody sunk down into the mattress and sighed softly. "Goodnight," she uttered just as she started to fall asleep.

Archer mumbled something unintelligible, muffled by the pillows he'd fallen face-first into, and just drifted off fully clothed. In the morning, he felt terrible, sore and fuzzy-headed, but a good soak in the tub while the others slept had him feeling as close to 100 percent as he could be. Afterwards, he checked on Lucius, spent a while getting some water into him, and finally went over to wake up Melody. Feeling daring and brightly awake after his bath, he just leaned over and gave her a kiss to wake her. "Morning, sunshine." He said, smiling down at her as her eyes adjusted. "I have to go out and get food. Watch Sleeping Beauty for me, would ya?"

Melody was out like a light, she was so comfortable. The next thing she knew, someone was kissing her and she kissed back as she slowly opened her eyes up and saw it was Archer. She smiled and blushed up at him and said, "Morning." She rubbed her eyes a bit and yawned some before nodding in answer to his question. "I'll keep an eye on him," she said, smiling some more at him. "Be careful," she said. She blushed some more before leaning up to give him another kiss, but this one was soft and short.

((Okay this time I didn't get an alert so it's not my fault lol))

Archer smiled a little and nodded, shouldering his bag. "I'm always careful.and don't worry. He should probably sleep at least until I get back, so he won't be any trouble."

((Lol okay then ^_^ ))

She smiled up at him and teased, "And that's exactly how you wound up getting beat up in the last town we were in." She smiled again. "I'll keep an eye on him."

Archer rolled his eyes and just gave her another quick kiss, then headed for the door. "Just don't leave the room," he advised, smiling a little back at her, and was gone. He had supplies to gather and possibly a few jewels to sell to a more legitimate vendor.

((Sorry, had to make a really long reply to an rp))

((It's fine. I have to go do the stupid dishes soon. I don't know when I will be back.))

She kissed him back and nodded. "I won't," she said. She watched as he left and went to the bathroom, going to take a nice warm bath. It felt nice. She pretty much just lounged and kept an eye on Lucius for him to wake up the entire time Archer was gone.

((Sorry, I had my emotions ripped out and stomped on with cleats by a paperback -_- It required some recovery time, and lots more reading to get past the horribleness))

Archer spent perhaps an hour away from the inn, and when he came back, Lucius was still sleeping. He checked on the Raven, then just flopped onto the other bed and started giving Melody some of the food he'd brought. "I'll do my best to wake him and shove food into his mouth once we're finished."

((Oh, I know exactly how that goes. And sorry myself, was distracted lol. I do hate when that happens though with books. What were you reading?))

She smiled when he came back and nodded. She took the food from him and said, "Thank you." She ate a bit of it and asked, "Do you think he needs a doctor?"

((It's "Looking For Alaska" by John Green. I have a love/hate relationship with this man lol I love his youtube videos, but pretty much every book I've read of his has made me cry (or feel unending rage) at one point so . . . yeah. They're so good, but so sad!! ,>_<,))

Archer shook his head. "There's not really much a doctor can do for him. He's just worn himself out is all, body and mind. It took a lot of energy to get us so far away in such little time, especially two of us. We're not really meant to drift through shadows, so he had to work extra hard.

((Yeah I definitely know the feeling, especially with Game of Thrones. I love George R.R. Martin, but I really hate him for killing off most of my favorite characters. That show and books really frustrate me...))

She nodded and looked at Lucius. She was a bit worried about him. "Well, I think we're far enough away so he doesn't have to travel like that for a good while." After a few moments, she realized something. "Where are we anyways?" she asked. "And just how far away are we?"

((Lol I'm pretty sure he's famous for that. I don't have cable so I never started watching, and I never felt interested enough to get the books))

Archer just shrugged, not entirely sure himself. "I don't really know, specifically. Somewhere far north, if the cooler temperature is anything to go by, but we were also heading east. It gives us a general direction, but ill look for a map of some sort after I've gotten him to eat. We'll definitely be stuck here for a few days while he recuperates."

((He is lol. And season one is out and season 2 is coming out soon on dvd. I think you would like it, but it does have some adult things in it though...))

She wondered how far north they were going. "Well, at least were not in the forest anymore," she said softly. And away from the castle. She went to look at her shoulders to check on the bruises and they were still there, but barely starting to fade now. She sighed.

((How old do you think I am? lol Yeah, I heard about some of it and I'm just like, eh. I've got too many shows anyway. My friend keeps wanting me to watch Doctor Who up to the current season, so that's a project in itself xD ))

Archer made a head-tilting gesture as he ate to indicate a 'There's that' sort of attitude, and shrugged fractionally. When he'd finished eating, he got up and got more food, then went to Lucius' side and propped the shorter boy up against the headboard, smacking lightly at his cheeks. "Come on, then, friend. Time to wake up and eat a little before you waste away to nothing." Lucius made a groggy sound but tried not to be woken, and Archer just rolled his eyes. "I'll drop you in the tub if I have to."

((I'm just saying lol, I'm 19 and I'm not really a fan of those scenes lol. Yes it is and I love Doctor Who! ^_^ ))

She really hoped he was okay. He had been sleeping for almost a total of two days. "Hold his nose," she said. "That should get his mouth to open and then maybe he'll eat the food when it's in his mouth."
