Name: Selene Sue Spectre (Goes by Sue)

Age: 14

Personality: Sue is loyal and logical, but is very observant and jumps to conclusions about people; normally thinking the swore of scenarios. She has trouble trusting people, but once you have her trust she may never turn her back on you unless you do something she'll never forgive. She hides her insecurities though by being rude and unsocial. Even though she's quite the emotional person, and hates others for it.

Gender: Female

Race: Demon

Sin/Virtue: Envy

Gifted Ability:Shape shift so she can be anything or anyone but herself.

Backstory: Sue's parents got divorced when she was very young, but her mother quickly remarried. Suddenly, Sue had a sister and a step dad she didn't know. Her step dad didn't like her though, but treated his own daughter like she was queen. The young girl wanted to be like her sister, to have what she had, to be treated like she was. But the more envious Sue became the angrier she became towards her mother for marrying her step dad, at her step dad for being mean to her for no reason, at her real dad because he didn't fight for the relationship, and most of all towards herself for not being like her sister. Sue ran away on her tenth birthday when all she got was a book she didn't even want. Sue thought they'd be better without her anyway. The young girl was smart though and managed to manipulate people and even learned how to pit pocket, but she couldn't get away from the thought that she would never be good enough or have enough money. But the twelve year old refused to go back and made her living on the streets, at least she could steal the money she needed to stay at a hotel for most nights.

    Health: 16

    Name: Vanessa "Seraphina" Williams

    Age: 24

Personality: Vanessa is a pretty odd woman, all things considered. She cannot feel fear and has never been able too, and so she completely lacks several things that most people take for granted. For example, because she has never felt fear, she doesn't know what it feels like to feel doubt and anxiety. Because she is so lacking, she has something of an emotional disconnect with other people; she does possess empathy, of course, but her relatively incomplete emotional state means that its harder for her to find common ground with normal people. What is common sense for most is completely alien to her simply because she lacks the proper context. Her natural fearlessness also makes her extremely honest, sometimes brutally so. Note that fearless does not necessarily go hand in hand with obstinate; her honesty extends to herself as well, so she has no problem admitting when she is wrong and backing down. In addition, while she typically won't give threats of punishment the time of day, she will obey them if the punishment would be too annoying and the subject matter isn't worth it in her eyes.

Vanessa, despite having an incomplete emotional palette, does in fact have both a moral compass and a sense of right and wrong. She greatly enjoys helping people she considers to be good, and she will at least try to help those that want to be good but feel forced into evil in turning their lives around. On the flip side of this, she will not hesitate for even a second in punishing those she considers evil, which has gotten her into more than a bit of trouble in the past. She will punish herself whenever she believes she's crossed some line, and will in fact insist upon it if others try to forgive her; she is utterly unforgiving in her morality, and that is most fiercely enforced when it comes to herself. After all, if even she can't follow through with her own beliefs to the end, how can they have any merit?

    Gender: Female

    Race: Chosen (Angel)

    Sin/Virtue: Virtue (Bravery)

Gifted Ability: Legacy of the Bold (Vanessa can channel the skills and abilities of anyone she knows of that is notable for their valor. Whether they have not an ounce of fear in their hearts or are deathly afraid but do the right thing anyway, Vanessa can call upon all of their talents when she needs to. She does not gain their physical abilities, however, and the person in question needs to have actually existed in order for her to draw upon their strengths. In addition, the farther back they lived, the more draining it is to channel them.)

Backstory: Vanessa was born to a middle class family, who gave her an acceptably pleasant life all things considered. Her older brother and younger sisters could be pains sometimes, but she loved all of her family regardless, and they all loved her in turn. It was this loving and normal-ish home life that allowed Vanessa to develop a reasonably decent sense of morality, less tampered with by her own neurosis.

Vanessa's lack of fear was noted fairly early on, and as the problems with it became quickly apparent, her parents resolved to do something about it. It took many a visit to various doctors and therapists (as well as many a prescription) before they finally became resigned to the fact that Vanessa would never be able to feel things which were the basis for many societal values. They refused to give up on her though, and they did their best to help their daughter work around her emotional disability. They didn't always succeed, but she appreciated all of their efforts more than she could ever articulate.

Vanessa's school life was much less upbeat. While she was never bullied to any extreme extent (as would-be bullies soon learned that she was not going to be intimidated and would fight back if they tried anything), but she was ostracized. Her disability made it nigh-impossible for her to truly understand many of the things her classmates went through, and her lack of understanding made her seem strange to them...perhaps even a little monstrous. She did have the odd friend here and there, but for the most part, Vanessa spent the entirety of her education up through high school alone. She never held it against them as they never actually did anything to her except to not do anything with her; that wasn't bad, so how could she possibly take offence to it?

She is currently powering through college, hoping to learn enough to become a theoretical physicist. She's doing reasonably well so far, though only because she's digging in her heels and refusing to fail; she's not that bright, so she has to make up for it by stubbornly refusing to do anything less than amazing. It's not enough to boost her into straight A territory, but it has allowed her to keep her grades at a B average.

This is a great character so far! The detachment is interesting, compared to "lol I was bullied but I stoof up 4 muhself and I dun fear anything anemoar" that is sadly frequent for Bravery characters. I can hardly wait for all the slots to be filled, I'm so excited!

Okay, I think I'm done now.

@Diminium Yeah, it just seemed more interesting to me if it were just a disability she'd always had rather than "i did the gud so now I berev in myshelf" stock explanation, y'know?

Yup! It's still going, OP is taking a break, though he'll be back on the 16.

Ah, also Diminium wouldn't the ability to steal, other's stats be more fitting for greed? The current ability you have down is more of a lust based ability.
Ah, also Diminium wouldn't the ability to steal, other's stats be more fitting for greed? The current ability you have down is more of a lust based ability.
Wellllll I did think about this, but it wouldn't entirely fit his character.

Think, Floyd isn't rich because he's greedy, he's greedy because he's rich. It makes him pretty damn entitled so that he thinks he deserves and gets anything he wants. He doesn't go after money because he has as much as he wants. He believes everything should have a reward, even stuff like tidying up his room. Forget about him ever doing something charitable or serviceable. He doesn't do it because there's no reward attached.

I know you are are probably typing up a sheet for Lust (Which I'm excited to see), but there's a difference between the abilities, demanding/seducing. Here's an example.

Floyd knew he had to get the hell out of there, they were onto him, and he'd be a goner if they got their hands on him. He spotted a worker climbing into his taxi and he briskly strolled over. He gave the window a tap, and the driver unrolled it. "What?" The driver asked, an edge of annoyance in his voice.

"I need a ride... Surely you wouldn't mind giving me one."

The driver stared at him skeptically. "Kid, that costs money... If you wanna-"

"Oh I know." He cut in, his wallet feeling heavy with cash and light with guilt as he pulled it out, filing a few twenties into his hand. He shook the cash around a bit, before flashing his winning smile.

"Or maybe, just let me borrow the car for a while... No damage, think about it... I can drive, you won't even get in trouble!"

The driver stared into space for a moment, before grabbing the stack of bills and getting out of the car. "Sure." He replied monotonously.

"Great!" Floyd smirked, pushing the man out of the way, grinning deviously as he buckled his

seat belt and rolled up the window. "Thank you soooooooo much."

He has no intention of returning that car, and if the driver somehow resisted the cash and smile, then he would've thrown a huge hissy fit.

I might change it up, but what where you thinking for Lust, as I'm sure we can difference them!

Floyd's gonna have a Field day with this guy. I like it.

It's a shame you have so many Sins and not enough Virtues. I guess it's just harder to create an interesting and compelling character around something everyone aspires to than it is with something everyone has. Fortunately I think I've got a good concept for Temperance. Temperance seems unique among the virtues in that it implies flaws by its nature. A Loyal individual simply has strong emotional ties to someone, but a Temperate individual needs to have unhealthy desires or emotions to restrain. I could play up potential flaws in the other Virtues, such as Charity stealing so that they can give more or Purity being too innocent to know the pain they are causing, but that just seems unnecessarily contrarian.

Also, I'm new to the forum, so just to be sure, I get to choose which of the five stat rolls go to which stat, right? That seems pretty standard, but I fell obligated to ask anyway.

Health: 19

Name: Dylan W. Powers

Age: 28

Personality:
While at first appearing to be hotheaded and aggressive, Dylan is more strongly defined by his caution. When he is not angry, he often appears to outside observers to be completely emotionless and stoic. Those who know him better can recognise the signs of him being deep in thought, holding back his emotions, or simply being confused. Dylan can often spend several minutes standing still and thinking before making any decision.

When he is angry, though, he makes it well known. He can seem perfectly fine one instant and aggravated the next. Even when angry, though, he always remains somewhat defensive, never taking any noticeably aggressive stances or inciting even mild violence.

In spite of his cautious nature, his ability makes him quick to make friends. His apparent emotional distance makes it difficult for him to keep those friends, but he is very close with the ones he does keep.

Gender: Male

Race: Angel

Sin/Virtue: Temperance

Gifted Ability: Emotional Sense/Transfer: Upon touching an individual, Dylan can sense the emotional state of that individual. He can sense emotions with alarming accuracy, often having a better read of their emotional state than the individuals themselves, on account of him not having the same distractions and thoughts influencing his read. In addition, he can transfer emotions between himself and the individual(s) at will. There is no way to detect this transfer, and most people will subconsciously justify their new emotional state without noticing anything is wrong. However, if one is aware about Dylan's powers, or is cautious or perceptive enough, they can tell their emotional state is being altered. Dylan does not need direct skin-to-skin contact to use this ability, but any interference, such as clothes, will dampen the effects, and anything thicker than a light coat will completely block them.

Backstory:
Dylan was raised in what could be described as a perfectly generic American household, until he discovered his ability. He discovered it at a young age, and soon spent as much time as possible experimenting with it. Then, a few weeks after he got his power, he and his mother were in a car crash. Nobody died, but his mother was permanently crippled and he blamed himself for abusing his power.

He withdrew for a few weeks, refusing to touch anyone or make any hasty decisions. Over time he began to come to terms with the situation and realise he couldn't have caused the accident. Still, the effects lingered throughout his life, and he was never as open as before. Most people didn't consider it much of a problem, he was causing less trouble and his grades were improving, so they didn't do anything about it.

Later in life, he struggled to find reason to do much of anything. He was too afraid to make any big decisions, so he just sort of wandered around aimlessly. He would pick up several part-time jobs to pay the bills, but never excel in any way. He has a few hobbies, such as building figurines and writing short stories, that occupy his attention in his free time. He spends a lot of his time hoping for a driving force that will bring him some motivation.

Name

Amelia Dwight

Age

29

Gender

Female

Race

Human; Chosen

Personality

She is a very demure individual who often keeps to herself, and prefers peaceful places and remaining undisturbed.

Amelia rarely states her opinion of others, as she dislikes confining individuals with what she thought they were or ought to be.

Mostly quiet, but could be loud when she feels like it.

She is warm and welcoming towards others, and is always open-minded.

Does not know how to respond to justice, and instead follows what she thinks is right.

Backstory

In her early twenties, Amelia found herself wake on a hospital bed, unable to move her limbs quite right, and unable to stand or sit up. She was motionless as her eyes moved around, and rested on a doctor and a nurse on her bedside, both looking completely stunned. The doctor was holding a pair of scissors, or appeared like it, and was about to cut the wire that connected her to a gas tank. She soon realized they were in the process of 'mercy killing'.

The length of her consciousness then made her more and more aware of where she was, and what was happening. But she had remained calm, with no need to feel any panic nor regret. She was merely thankful she was still alive. Had she not woken up for a moment longer, she would not have been.

Days passed after her recovery, and the doctor had informed her she had been found in front of the hospital doors, unconscious and bleeding, two years ago. She had just woken up from a coma, her fees being paid for anonymously. However, weeks went by and no one came for her. No family or friends or anyone has ever been seen in her room since the day she was brought in. Not even those that mysteriously covered her medical bills. They must have assumed she was already dead, as there was no way the hospital could contact them.

But Amelia didn't mind, partly because she has also acquired amnesia. She remembered no longer what transpired in her life before she woke up, but for some reason, nothing persuaded her to find out. Instead, she began living her life alone in the world, and eventually came back to the hospital she woke up in to work as a care-taker for the elderly and for children, feeling content with what she had accomplished so far.

Sin/Virtue:

Purity

Gifted Ability:

She is able to persuade anyone she is dealing with to do as she bids them, as long as her intentions never stray from her virtue.

Health: 26

Name: Harold "Homeless Harry" Goldberg

Age: 63

Appearance: Harry is a thin man of about 5'7, who has a lengthy gray beard and long, unkempt gray hair. He wears a dark gray coat that has many stains on it, yet very little holes in it. His pants are a dark brown with more stains, and he sports a pair of gray sneakers which appear to be the cleanest part of his attire. He has one black finger-less glove which he has on his right hand, and also wears a striped, green and blue shirt under the coat.

Personality : Harry is one of the sweetest people you will ever come across, always looking to compliment people passing by the local park in hopes of putting a smile on their faces. More of a listener than a speaker, Harry is reserved when it comes to conversations, but is quite cunning when speaks, making his short speeches direct and powerful.

Gender: Male

Race: Human/Angel

Sin/Virtue: Charity

Gifted Ability: "Morale Boost" Homeless Harry gives a few words of encouragement to a friend, and this effectively doubles the points of a single stat of a friendly character for a short period of time. While the ability is in effect, Harry loses half of his own corresponding stat points until the end of the effect (If health is doubled, Harry does not regain the lost health immediately).

EXAMPLE: Harry stumbles across two middle-aged men playing chess in the park and notices one of the men is struggling to find a way to overcome his opponent. Harry strolls across towards the two men, surveying the current state of the board and says to the perturbed gentleman, "Don't count yourself out just yet, I can tell your mama put a strong noggin' on yer shoulders there." ~After Harry finishes his optimistic sentence, the man suddenly sees the pathway to his victory, placing one of his rooks directly in front of the opposing King~ "Checkmate!" He declares, but meanwhile, during this short epiphany, Harry suddenly forgot the rules of the game, in fact, he can't even remember what game the gentlemen are even playing. Yet, after victory is declared, it all seems to rush back to Harry, and he innocently blames his age for the memory lapse.

Backstory:

Harry remembers very little of his child and teen years. Growing up his parents were exceptionally stingy people who were only interested in making a fortune. This made his parents very nasty towards people who were less fortunate then they were. Harry saw how his parents treated people, and found it repulsive. Harry specifically recalls a time when he and his father were buying hot dogs from a street vendor, and the vendor accidentally forgot to put mustard on his father's hot dog, and so his father naturally took the mustard from the cart, put it on his hot dog, then squirted it into the vendor's ear saying, "No wonder you didn't hear me say I wanted mustard, it's all in your ears!", After Harry's father left the cart, Harry quickly apologized for his father and gave the man his entire weekly allowance as a tip. This was one of few incidents that lead to Harry leaving his home at 15 to wander the streets alone, never to look back.

Harry lived on the streets his whole life, only taking with him the bare minimum he needed to survive. For food, he took to speaking wit restaurant owners after closing time to see if they had any left-overs, and by doing this over and over again, he began to get to know the owners and managers on a more personal level, sharing stories with them and any piece of wisdom he had at the time. The owners had gotten to appreciate Harry the more they talked and began offering him freshers meals during the day instead of after closing hours. Harry was happy to accept, yet never ate alone. He always would share the meal with another person who was down on their luck, living in the streets like himself.

Harry chose this life however, he decided he did not need luxury to feel happy, all he needed was for the people around him to feel happy and safe, and this is what gave him comfort. After years and years of this lifestyle, Harry picked up knowledge from all kinds of people, on every sort of subject. He would often talk with college students during lunch and they would explain the things they were learning, and he in turn would tell them stories of people he's met throughout his years. He talked with businessmen and stock brokers when they were outside the office building for a smoke break, and they would tell him about economic state at the time, and what businesses were flourishing that week. He talked with people all day, learning as much as he could and helping them with their own problems at home or at work. They would try and give him money in return, but he rarely accepted it. All he wanted was to help others, the only thing they needed to give him was the reassurance that he helped them in some way.

Harry continues to live his life as a homeless man, but really he is always at home with the people around him.

Name: Adlelist Raynott

Age: 24

Personality: Adlelist is a very fun person to be around, and is always good for a laugh and friendly chatter. His open-mindedness allows people to open up to him easier. He's a very chill person to hang around and is always up for anything. Although his virtue is loyalty he can be very condescending at times, not willing to do things sometimes for the fear of getting too close.

Gender: Male

Race: Human/Angel

Virtue: Loyalty

Gifted Ability: Is able to summon a past image of his past relationships, the stronger relation the stronger they are. They come out in a golden glow and the first thing they do is cling to the target and tries to suffocate them and claw at the victims chest. "The only thing they want is your body... The only thing I want is your heart" -Adlelist

Backstory: Adlelist only wanted to make friends when he was little. He never stayed close to others for the reason of getting hurt by them, but that didn't stop him from making friends. His friendly personality and the calm air that surrounds him relaxes others and with that he is easily able to make friends, and the ones that know him a bit better then others he is unconditionally (and unintentionally) loyal to them.

To the reason of why Adlelist has never wanted to get close to anyone was mostly due to the reason of his father and mother divorcing, and his father planting ideas into his head about how loyalty is a farce and that "Demons like her arn't to be trusted" (soon after, he just starts drunkenly babbling of "How the bitch never even gets me a single beer-"). In Adlelist's adolescent year he fell in love with a lovely lady the same age as him, they always had a good time with each other and even was his first kiss.

Just when thing couldn't get better, things got worse. Adlelist's lover had kept a secret from him, that she only had a few days to live. She was slowly getting killed by a hereditary virus, from then on he stayed by her side until her last breath. Adlelist from then on always stayed loyal and honest to even people he only met for the first time and vowed to help them smile/brighten their day.
