Fandom Odyssey of Power

To get a point of reference, I doubt that our characters our the cream of the crop in terms of power levels, what sort of power levels would some of higher up saiyan warriors have?

Higher level Saiyans on planet Metahnn have power levels reaching up to around 6,000.

The ruler who has the lowest power level among the 17 occupying the planets has a power level of 8,650, and the strongest of the 17 rulers has a power level of 15,270. I'll have a list of the ruler's names (sadly no pictures, too much work) up sometime tomorrow evening in the "Neutral Characters" page below the enemies and their power levels.

We're bottom of the barrel, but among ourselves there is a pecking order determined by our power levels. Those with powers nearer to 500 will be more top tier among our group and command authority, while those who are closer to 350 will be bottom tier and subservient whether they like it or not.

Good evening, Kyero. It seems I found myself on another one of your RP's. As Hink said earlier, I am enticed by this RP and my love of DBZ. If it behooves you, I will get a skeleton CS up soon.
By all means.

And if you have suggestions about anything, feel free to tell me. I'm always looking for those who spot inconsistencies in what I write or who have ideas to make things run a bit more smoothly or if they have a thought to improve the mechanics. RP's like this are a bit... well, complex, and it gets hard to remember everything and keep it going on my own. Pokemon is a bit easier for me, as it's more about keeping the plot moving than remembering mechanics and such.

Alright, the list of rulers is up in the "Neutral Characters" thread. I believe all 17 are there, but it's morning and I'm not a morning person so someone double check for me.

Other than that, I believe we're ship shape to get going once I receive word on completed profiles that are ready for final analysis.

Remember I am not going to ask you when you're ready to submit your character. You have to tell me when you're ready or I will presume that you need more time and leave you alone. If that means you are never accepted, it is your own fault. So don't do that.

Tell me when you're ready and I'll take a look.

Cheers!

Oh, and I have also updated the "Lore" page as well with some more descriptive info on what the process of attaining the Super Saiyan form feels like!

Enjoy!

Yet another update!

I've got two new myths for ya'll to check, one of which will piss off people who are fans of Boxing and MMA.

Anyway, I've got another request below the Myths section, and it's regarding language in the RP. Since we're talking about the Saiyan Race, and they don't speak English (though they do in the english anima/manga for our entertainment and understanding), I'm changing the language you may use in the RP so please check what the language limitations are in the "Mechanics" page.

I still got work to do on my CS. Haven't been able to devote my time fully to it in a few days, but it is coming along. Not much left.

I still got to put out a post for Pokémon too. I should have that out sometime tonight and my CS finished tomorrow or the day after hopefully.

Anyway, i am finding the myths most interesting. That said, given the nature of the fighters and their abilities, it would change up what we consider as martial arts. For example, Flight would make submissions more difficult as an opponent could have an easier time adjusting themselves to remove leverage on an appendage. Also the use of ki adds aspects that are not accounted for in what we know as Martial Arts. This is not so much as a question as much as wondering if you had anything to add on that subject.

This is a question lol. Regarding the great ape transformation you mention a requirmen was they had to have at least 20 percent base power remaining. Will there be a way to calculate the loss of power in a few fight due to injury and exhaustion and ki use, or will it be more if a guestimate as we write them wearing out?

Also regarding the great ape, you mentioned SS4 all they needed was super saiyan ability and a tail. Would a super saiyan be able to turn great ape in SS mode without SS4 context? And is turning into the golden ape different altogether from the great ape? You also mentioned being in control, do they lose all control when going to normal great ape? And would that thing vegeta used to mimic the moon when fighting goku for first time be considered a deus ex machina or just as another tool for the job?

And as fun as I think it would be to creatively string together alien curse words xD I regret to inform myself that a dirty mouth is frowned upon in the Faerari family. Though for sake of not letting info go to waste I may have to make effort to be a rebel lol.

Nice questions King.

Okay, regarding the 20 percent energy. That's going to be a personal guesstimate. You will have to gauge how much energy you're using and how much power you have left during major battles when the full moon is out if you want to take to that form.

The Great Ape to SS4 requires something extra as opposed to just being able to jump straight to it. As we saw in Dragonball GT, Vegeta, despite being able to go Super Saiyan, turned into a Great Ape in the battle against Omega Shenron and it was the regular Great Ape form. He lost control of himself, which was supposedly a first since he had turned Great Ape before in his life and remained in perfect control. Bulma even mentioned that Vegeta would be in control, but he was not.

The manga/anime make it seem like the stronger you are, the less likely you'll be to control the Great Ape form. And that's not saying anything about going Super Saiyan either before or after the transformation is complete. The initial 10x is already a great increase, but the extra 50x of the Super Saiyan transformation which can be used in the form. That's A LOT of energy, and in the Great Ape form which reverts the Saiyan's mind to a more primitive state to begin with, every point works against your ability to control the new Golden Great Ape form.

And you don't need to worry about the language. That's for those who planned on being a potty mouth from the start. My character, Era, will not use swear words at all.

Lovely points. And lots of power. Its going to be interesting to see what sort of enemies we will fight after the Overlord. Spectacle creep makes topping a galactic tyrant pretty hard. After all, before we come close to beating Inecros, we will have already topped the strongest saiyans.

The language thing is a nice touch. Would there be any cultural things we would need to keep in mind as they would no doubt be different than earth, too¿

For the most part, no.

As long as you behave with even a smidgen of respect for those with a power level above your own, you'll follow basic Saiyan protocol.

Hey guys!

There's something new in the "Neutral Characters" thread!

I have now decided to supply progress bars to show everyone, on a numerical scale of 1 - 100, how each major enemy in this RP will behave as a combatant. Each stat is defined at the top of the section, so hopefully there will be no confusion on what each stat means. If there is, please ask me to clarify for you!

Enjoy!

I wonder if it's okay to submit a CS, though I'm not familiar with the DBZ franchise?
All you need to know is that the Saiyan Race is a warrior race, and they live to fight. It's pretty straightforward. If you read through anything and don't understand, just ask and I'll clarify it for you.

Warrior race. Fight to live, live to fight. Got it. Thanks! (I've read through mechanics/lore/settings for extra information, and everything seems understandable, for the most part.)

I'll post a skeletal draft of my CS in a few moments, and finish it either tomorrow, or Thursday evening, depending on workload.

A quick question: Is 5 personal techniques too many? At the moment, I have 2 passive battle effects, 2 non-combative abilities, and 1 technique I haven't quite conceptualized yet.

I have set no limits on personal/signature moves because I do not want to limit them. If your creativity creates 5 or 25, it doesn't matter to me so long as you use them effectively in the RP.

@Kyero I do believe I have finished with my CS
Awesome.

I'll take a closer look at it tomorrow as I'm going to go to bed soon.

Also, if anyone wants their picture transformed into a Super Saiyan (just for fun), then ask me! I'll be happy to pimp your character image and give them a Super Saiyan upgrade!

Just ask Era here!

That's pretty cool what you did there! I might take you up in that offer, once I can find a suitable picture for Fae. I may or may not keep the one I have. Depends if I can find a better one

I can't exactly find a picture for my character. I'm looking for a leaner looking saiyan that wields a Scimitar.

This RP follows a few stray aspects of the original lore, including how Saiyans fight.

Saiyans don't use weapons to fight. They always fight bare handed as a matter of honor and pride. If they can't win with the weapons they were born with, they don't deserve to fight at all.

Trunks used a sword in the anime/manga, but that's because he was a half breed born on Earth.

So I'm sorry Natevess, but Saiyans won't be fighting with weapons like that this time around. It's all bare handed, straight up face to face combat (not counting the use of energy attacks for long range).

Alright, I can understand that. Also, shouldn't there be an add on to the scouter section of the mechanics page for things like how much energy a scouter can sense, as well as natural energy sensing and energy concealment?

I will add information on those topics very soon. I have yet to fully flesh them out.

You might want to remove the part in the questionnaire in whether or not they use weapons.

I'm trying to come up with a drill/piercing attack but I can't come up with anything without it being a budgeted Special Beam Cannon.

How about a spinning ki ball that pierces through its target instead of exploding? Its low level and simple yet still plenty room to improve and make unique as your char gets stronger and more skilled.

The energy attacks we have can only take so many shapes which are realistic enough to be controlled before they become unrealistic unwieldy.

I'll give some examples: Kamehameha, Galick Gun, Final Flash, and Masenko. All of those attacks, save for the color and the one who uses them, look almost exactly the same and are relatively indistinguishable from one another if the color is taken out of the picture. Special Beam Cannon and Death Beam are basically the same attack, but the Special Beam Cannon has a spiral around it. Otherwise it looks exactly the same. Big Bang Attack, Crusher Ball, Broly's under throw whatever it's called. All of them are just circles of energy which explode with a really big bang once they make contact.

So don't try to be overly creative and individualistic with these signature moves. It's inevitable that there will be similarities between our attacks at some point. The goal of these attacks is not to create an individual defined by their moves. The goal is to make the moves defined by the individual. Your attack could look exactly the same as one that exists already, but your manner of execution and the intent behind the attack makes all the difference.
