THE HALL OF INSIGHT

He blinked as his companion started moving into the darkness. "Hey, maybe we shouldn't-" Before he could comment, they were practically invisible. Well, in an effort to not have their team completely blind, he decided to stay out where there was light.

"Uh... I'll be waiting for you both out here!" Pascal called back to Thelma's question. "When you guys find each other, you guys can use my voice as a guide! In fact, why don't you start singing again, guy? It'll help lead Thelma to where you are!" His companion had commented on the pleasantness of the newcomer's voice, and Pascal had to agree. He felt a strange prickling numbness in his body when the other was previously singing.

After a few moments, the blond was able to hear Thelma's voice once more. He raised a brow as they spoke about closeness. He assumed the other two had found each other, most likely bumping into one another in an awkward way, so he took a deep breath to call out to them and lead them back. Before he could though, a soft thud was heard from the dark path ahead which left him silent.

"Thelma...?" It wasn't his partner in crime-solving that responded though, but yet another unfamiliar voice. This one had a high pitch, leading Pascal to believe the speaker was female. "Um... hello?!" Pascal called out. "Did you also get lost?! Follow the sound of my voice! There's light here!" He raised a brow as a metallic scent hit his nose. "Thelma?! You okay?!"

jericho nodded absentmindedly at bandy's response, his golden gaze scanning callista up and down curiously, “gotcha, gotcha... 'looks can be deceiving' twinkle toes an' stuff," he echoed, his eyes not leaving the blonde as he committed her appearance to memory, most of his focus going into this and therefore resulting in little of the current conversation being processed. it was only when the woman spoke to him directly that jericho snapped back to attention, startled; his tail curling more tightly around bandy's wrist as a result.

“it's lovely to meet ya, callista," he smiled, stepping toward her, taking her hand and kissing her knuckles lightly, “the name's jericho. please 'scuse my dad, he's not very good with women." definitely a lie, but he couldn't pass up an opportunity to tease the dude. it did weird jericho out a bit to call bandy 'dad', but he could deal with it for the joke.

jericho let out a little laugh at callista's next comment, his tail loosening its hold on bandy and starting to flick back and forth excitedly, “yeah, i like to think i'm more of a gentleman than he is, but i'll leave that decision up to you." he hummed as he walked up beside callista, opening his mouth to say something else when she turned and asked him a question.

"do you have your phone with you?"

momentarily confused, rico realized why she was asking when she pulled her own device out and started taking pictures of the files. nodding, he pulled out his own phone, “takin' pictures of the files is a real good idea..." jericho murmured, trailing off and starting to photograph as many of the files as he could, taking care to do it one folder at a time so it would be easier to organize them later on if needed.

“i dunno how many talents the uh... old man has, but i'm sure there's somethin'. don't know about singing, though," jericho chuckled, glancing at bandy, "or maybe he can sing- ayo, pops, can ya sing?"

— — —

taking one last photo, jericho glanced nervously at bandy as things started to get more intense, “we leavin' now, yeah?" they were cutting it pretty close and the last thing he wanted was for them to end up buried.

jericho was also pretty sure the ability he currently had would not be of much help in this situation.

The Heist
LOCATION:
Central

The Heist
If you asked Maria, she would definitely deny it, but a part of her was somewhat relieved by their driver's early "retirement". She was already slightly frustrated to have not been doing the driving for the getaway, and definitely wasn't the type to trust a stranger behind the wheel in her prescense, especially in a bulky van. Still, she didn't think the driver deserved... well... that. When the twins made themselves known, holding a knife to Jennifer's throat, a million thoughts flooded Maria's brain. Maria is normally a solo act, with maybe an informant in her ear. So to have crew members whose lives were at risk was a new situation and definitely not one she was hoping to be in. For the first time since the heist started, Maria truly felt powerless. Like the situation was completely out of her control, and she couldn't contribute. Even if she tried to stab through her shadow and make the blade pop out underneath the masked figure, it would be far too slow for them not to kill Jennifer. Dropping herself in the shadow would be an even riskier and slower move than that, and would also give away her main potential ability instantly as well. Thinking of that, it made her curious of what the twins' potential was as well, and if there was a way to get around it. When Camila dropped a wad of cash and offered it to them, she had considered dropping her entire bag. After all, they probably don't know about her shadow pocket. Even most people who know her from her races wouldn't know about the pocket, and only the teleportation. She knew it was just bait to lower their guard, but a part of her would also have been okay with losing what was basically just a bag of cash that she didn't want getting wet if it meant getting all the tigers out in one piece, as well as maybe being owed a favor. However, before she could follow through with her plan, the tigers make a move of their own, initiating a shoot out shortly after.

Almost immediately, a couple others scream at Maria to get the van started, but Maria was already way ahead, having made a dash for it as soon as the knife was off Jennifer's throat. She pulls out the now dead driver (or at least she assumed dead) and starts up the van, giving it a quick honk. Maria murmers to herself "It's about time, why didn't they just let me control this entire part of the plan from the beginning, I could have probably rigged up a van better than whatever this armored hunk of junk is, something with power. Pedaso de-" the rest being incoherent spanish swearing. After honking, Maria reaches into her pocket and pulls out a small device, plugging it into the car's USB port. Was it a weapon? Maybe a hacking device? A jammer? Absolutely not. It was a music player, filled with Maria's certified bangers playlist. The device was programmed to connect to whatever radio the car had, making it easier than having to connect via a bluetooth or risking carrying a phone with sensitive personal information that would have to be connected with an aux cord. With this, she could listen to the music without the risk of it providing information. The first song comes on, and she turns it up enough to hear which song it is. "We've got a good one, maybe even ideal" she says to herself, though nobody could see it through her helmet, there was a smirk on her face that could radiate her confidence now that she was behind the wheel.

Where Giants Sleep

Being controlled by insects was, decidedly, a very creepy feeling, though Elias offered no indication of his discomfort as he let the creatures swarm his feet. The young Yumin heir wouldn't call himself the most trusting person, but he trusted the memories he had acquired from others. He trusted his knowledge that animals--unlike humans–didn’t tend to lie, likely due to their simplistic natures. Only humans made things more complicated than they have to be. Only humans wove tall tales to make their lives easier. Tales of victory and sacrifice. Tales of heroes and gods.

As he watched Atlas fall over the railings over the misguided belief that he had some sort of advantage, over a tale of inevitable victory he had constructed in his own mind, Elias’s eyes darted curiously over to Araminta Grant. Had his words managed to sway her? Was she not a particularly loyal Steward from the start? Did she want something from him?

He dusted his jacket.

Before he could ask her why she decided to help him, possibly even inquire more about the so-called ‘Sleeper’ she and her mother seemed to worship, the earth trembled, cutting their would-be conversation short. He watched her tap a pattern in the stone, memorizing it. As the alcove opened, Elias moved closer, studying the pitch black tunnel with interest.

“Certainly! Debts do have to be repaid,” the Yumin Entertainment financial executive agreed readily. “If you would give me your n–,”

She rushed off in the opposite direction before he could finish his sentence.

Elias sighed. Given the collapsing structure, her hurry was understandable. Elias was running out of options as well. Jumping down and joining the others on the platform served no purpose. On the contrary, it would only slow them down. Elias knew his strengths and weaknesses. A team, in his opinion, didn’t have to be together, doing the same things, to function properly. So long as everyone knew their role and did their part, contributing to the overall goal the best they could, the machine would operate just fine.

But of course, his understanding of teams mainly lay in the corporate sector.

Elias pulled out the note scrap that Ezra had given them before entering the mines and jotted down a quick message:

There’s an exit that leads to Central Bank on the balcony. I will be taking it. Let’s meet again in Tiger HQ to discuss our findings from this reconnaissance mission. If you manage to bring in any prisoners, I’ll be happy to assist in the interrogation.

Yours truly,
Elijah Anamnesis

P.S. The location is negotiable.

Tying the paper to a large-looking beetle he caught, Elias transferred the necessary memories into it before sending to find the other Tigers on the main platform. Hopefully. Some of them were still fighting so chances are that they might not see the flying insect, but he did his part communicating and sending them some information--to the best of his abilities anyway. Between Ezra and Passeri, getting off the platform shouldn’t be a problem. Wren and Kenji were excellent fighters. Isobel could find him with ease.

Before leaving through the tunnel, Elias' gaze swept the platform below one last time. There was a moment of pause before he aimed his gun. He still had a couple of bullets left until reload and distracting their attackers a bit might help his allies escape faster.

One shot flew towards Mirage.

Another sailed towards Jacob Webber.

While he could’ve fired a bullet in the direction of Beatrice and Crowe as well, he chose not to, partly because Araminta Grant had been the one to help him, and partly because she did look quite pitiful crying over an empty tomb. Elias smirked wryly.

He did not believe in god. He could believe in a creator, something powerful enough that may be likened to a deity, but he wouldn’t put them on the pedestal of a ‘god’. ‘Gods’ were the creation of a wishful heart; An idealized fantasy. People prayed to gods because they desired things they couldn’t achieve on their own, whether it was salvation, peace, prosperity, etc. Elias had nothing he wanted to pray for. At the very least, nothing he couldn’t attain on his own. Perhaps it was more accurate to say Elias didn’t need a god, therefore their existence was minimal to him. Faith didn’t give him strength like it gave some others.

That said, if so many government officials were involved, this ‘Sleeper’ was likely more than just entertainment for the upper class. He’d have to look into it.

Still wearing Atlas’s mask, Elias ran into the dark tunnel that seemed to be lit by the music of insects (guiding his path) as another violent tremor shook the room.

FOLLOW THE LIGHTNING
"You alright kid?"

With the inevitable departure of their cryptic adversaries, following the team's first encounter. Ryoma straight away turned to inspect Tyr's more glaring injuries. Asking the obvious question despite judging that the bodyguard wasn't all that worst for wear, Ryoma couldn't shake a pain of guilt for not helping his fellow Phoenix out more in their fight.

Ignoring his own, less obvious injuries, he continued to disregard the throbbing pain of his forearms that seemed to intensify by the second after the flurry of blows he had just executed. Merely receiving a curt nod in response from the swordsman, Ryoma trusted the bodyguard's wordless response and turned him loose. Having managed to catch his fighting partner's bewildering and sudden attack while avoiding having his face sliced in two.

"Looks like we're not the early bird on this one."

Looking to the space where the ragtag gang had just disappeared mere seconds ago, Ryoma's jaw tensed, as his brow furrowed in mild frustration. Scenes began playing in his mind of the kinds of "conversations" that were likely in store for Hitoshi as they all stood there, still in search of his current location. He soon found himself wondering at what state they would find his old friend in when and if they ever managed to locate him. Shortly there after, his cloudy thoughts were pushed aside by the reemergence of the Hyperstar's faithful owner Sajeem.

"It does look that way."

Was Ryoma's halfhearted response as he hesitated to finally pull his gaze from where the portal had vanished. It wasn't fully clear whether he was referring to their situation or the state of the Hyperstar, as he turned his attention and scanned the room. He couldn't deny that they had definitely done and additional number on the place in their brawl. More so than he had anticipated in the heat of the moment.

Looking briefly up to the ceiling, he was mildly surprised to find that there were even harsh cuts across the roof of the place, most likely from frienzied Tyr's battle. Clearly somewhat distracted, but still attentive, Ryoma's focus returned to the man as he listened to Sajeem's parting words

"Anytime... But, we're hardly finished."

A grin sharply materialized on Ryoma's face at these words, before he strolled over to his jacket that had somehow made its way to the ground in the hostilities. Returning to Sajeem and the rest of the group shortly afterward, he went fishing in his pant's pocket for yet another business card, before he handed it to the business owner with a nod of his head.

"When you're ready to rebuild give that number a call. I've got a solid team who will need the experience. Treat them well and the job will pay for itself. ... You two ready?"

Looking to Noa and her bodyguard, Ryoma tilted his head towards the back entrance to the place. At their signal he was ready to leave the Hyperstar behind them. The sooner they got moving the sooner they could find Hitoshi. And after their first violent encounter with the mysterious foreign gang, Ryoma hoped to find his friend still alive.

Mirza let the woman speak, taking note of every word. It was a relatively sophisticated spot for such a group to gather, so it made sense that their presence was not only sanctioned but requested. Of course, it didn’t justify keeping prisoners, but there were other things to press them about, and it seemed that she wasn’t shying away from divulging details.

He was constantly aware of his surroundings as he was led deeper into the boat, considering the possibility that the talking was an attempt to distract from the journey. He kept an eye on anything of note, after all, he’d have to make his way back out and wouldn’t necessarily have a guide with him.

A wave of shame did wash over the veteran on mention of the bridge incident, something that often kept him up at night. He had no involvement, occupied with his own affairs at the time, but her bringing it up now solidified his fear of what it would do to people’s perception of the gang. Even so many months later, it wasn’t an incident that could easily be forgotten. He kept a straight face.

“I can see you have good intentions. It’s a noble cause and all, but you’re misguided. There are hives of addicts in the North, the Tigers drown their most unfortunate in debt, and there’s nobody safe from the Phoenixes’ murder sprees. We can only do so much to keep the gangs from corrupting the city beyond their borders, and yet here you are stretching our resources unnecessarily. We keep the people safe, they have security because of us…”

Mirza sighed, betraying the confidence his voice exuded.

“... I know that things are not perfect. The bridge incident was unfortunate, a gang skirmish gone too far. I, like you, do not approve of how things escalated, and I understand your concerns. What you’re doing isn't right, though, and I can’t let it slide. Do you think violence against innocents will help your cause?”

Was it hypocritical to ask that even after acknowledging the Dragon’s wrongs? Perhaps, Was it wise to stay loyal to your beliefs on a boat of people against you? Perhaps not. Was it smart to question potential violence in this situation? Mirza wasn’t sure, but he felt it was better than giving the group any leniency.

Noa wasn't really happy when Tyr used his cloak as a shield, figuring that she was going have to commission him a new one in the future, though she would be sure to make it better at the very least. Just as their bodyguard was about to take one of them down for good though, a what Noa could only describe as a portal opened up before them causing Tyr to almost hit Ryoma. Noa grew to be increasingly concerned when Tyr almost friendly fired , or friendly sliced Ryoma , but luckily his fast reaction and training was well enough that he was able to avoid seriously harming Ryoma, instead making it so that they only crashed into each other. It was a bit embarrassing, but the fact that they were both still alive and well off enough meant that things could of been worse at the very least. Though still it was a disappointing performance as it seemed that they all managed to escape, albite in a worse off state than they were originally in.

Though just as Noa felt that joining the fray may be necessary, their adversaries had decided to make a full on retreat, Noa was about to charge towards them in order to try and prevent their escape. But they were a bit far away and by the time she would reach them they were gone, Noa was pretty pissed overall, their opponents escaped, not one of them was captured and not all of their opponents were hurt either. The results from this little ordeal could be classified as a failure overall, since they didn't achieve any of their goals but it seemed as if their opponents achieved theirs. They were likely there to distract them, while some other team of theirs hunted down Hitoshi, if Noa had half a mind she would call for other Phoenixs to help her with this. But eventually she just let out a sigh of annoyance as Sajeem came back in and gave them a bit of information that made this endeavor not completely pointless to say the least. "Well at least this trip wasn't a complete waste."

Though Noa gave Tyr and Ryoma a look, before letting them finish up with whatever conversation they were having with Sajeem, when it was over and Ryoma was ready to get a move on, Noa gave them a curt nod as Tyr put their worn out cloak back on and took position behind Noa, who opted to follow Ryoma out the door. "Perhaps we should call for more Phoenixes to help us out with this, considering that they probably have more people in their merry group that they didn't bring, and now they know where Hitoshi is" Noa let out a low groan for a moment adding on "Ugh, this whole investigation thing is so annoying, and some of the Phoenixs make it look so simple."

But then she pointed out towards them in a accusatory tone, though Welsha couldn't help but turn a bit red in embarrassment as the lady gave her a decent compliment, it quickly turned into confusion when she stated they were taking their friends dad money. "Eh?"

Before Welsha could further contemplate the matter though, Pablo began trying to deescalate the situation though she wasn't sure if that would work since the girl seemed to be coming towards them with a purpose. Pablo didn't really heed her instructions and so Welsha wasn't really too concerned about him, if it failed and he got himself hurt, she would just have to sorta step in, so that their mission can be accomplished, though weather or not Pablo would survive was another matter. Welsha maintained a friendly smile though, as she kept her jackets pocket, her hand continuing to glow green as she charged it. If things delved into a fight she would be able to throw up a powerful smoke screen pretty quickly, and they could make their escape, though they weren't sure if they would be going with Pablo or not. Welsha didn't know what to expect consider their adversaries colorful personality to say the least, but they figured that it would probably be best to have a back up plan just in case. So Welsha just simply allowed for Pablo to do it his way, while Welsha simply looked towards the girl with a slightly nervous smile.

HUNKS IN THE CITY
Celestine paid little attention to the new addition to their group after he suggested adding to the chaos, sparing but a glance in his direction, before turning back to the rest; more specifically she set her sights on Nikolai, narrowing her eyes at him.

"I am only a serpent because I will not abandon the people I care about in this gang," she paused for a moment, "Though I doubt that is something any of you would understand."

Celeste took a step towards Nikolai, her face completely expressionless as she carefully adjusted the collar of his shirt and brushed some dirt off his shoulders before planting both hands firmly on them, her grip tightening an almost painful amount, "If you talk about Jozef like that again there will be problems, Nikolai. Do you understand what I am saying to you?" She leaned close, smiling and tapping his chin with one finger before carefully tilting his head so their eyes met.

"It is probably foolish to expect you to listen to anything I say, but I want you to keep this in mind the next time there is something cruel you wish to say," Celeste's smile vanished, " I just do not want you to be surprised should anything happen the next time you are disrespectful to anyone I care about." She released Nikolai from her grasp, giving him a gentle pat on the back, and kept an eye on him as she returned to her place beside Jozef.

Tri interrupted a couple of seconds later, waving them away and giving permission for her and Jozef to help the civilians. Say we are serpents and be cool… easy enough, I suppose. Celestine’s eye twitched when he called Jozef a runt, however, but she forced a small smile and bowed her head to Tri slightly in thanks.

"Let us get moving, then.” Celeste said, turning back to Jozef and gesturing toward the civilians that needed assistance.

While listening to Celeste speak, Jozef had a soft smile on his face. His eyes gave no indication of thoughts lurking behind them, like he was an NPC in a video game, perhaps. He did break rank to lean over away from Celeste once, only to wave at the newcomer, Toru before leaning back and looking at the interaction unfold. He always considered himself to be a lucky Serpent with the people who looked out for him. Not that he wasn’t willing to fight his own battles, but he was constantly appreciative of the way Celeste doted upon him.

“Bye bye, seeya soon then.”

That’s all he had to say about Tri leaving to grab weaponry. If Jozef was allowed to defy orders to help people, it was only fair that he let Tri continue to wreak havoc, right? He didn’t have anything else to say to Markus either, not even concerned about his presence. He nodded at Celeste, making a beeline for the crashed Sedan before anything else.

“No time to waste!”

Celestine’s gaze followed Jozef as he ran towards the crashed Sedan, waving goodbye to Tri and the others, before following her friend. Thankful for her long legs, she made it to Jozef and the Sedan in a couple of strides, stopping by the driver’s side.

The man in the car was clearly distressed and was making little progress getting out, so she grabbed the door handle with both hands and ripped it off with little trouble. Dropping it to the side, she reached in and unbuckled the man, pulling him free from the car and tapping Jozef on the arm, making a ‘follow me’ motion with one hand when flames began to lick from beneath the hood of the car.

Jozef was quick to follow Celeste, uttering words of encouragement to the driver as he was brought away from the danger.

"Hey, man, you're gonna be alright!" "We're here now, it'll be okay." "You're fine."

Celeste wished she could have found a safer place for the man, but there wasn’t a lot of time for that. Setting him on one of the benches along the sidewalk, she looked at Jozef, "Do you think there is something you could do for him? I am going to check the car to make sure there is no one else inside.”

"Yeah, course there is! I'll take care of him, they don't call me Panacea for nothing, remember."

Jogging back to the car, she scanned the inside and was relieved to find it empty, save for a backpack on the passenger seat. Grabbing it, Celestine hugged it to her chest and headed back toward Jozef and the stranger. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a very tall woman, taller than some of the buildings, and frowned, "That is definitely something to keep an eye on…”

While Celeste was away, Jozef didn't hesitate to start an inspection on the stranger's body, for any injuries he could heal.

"They call me Panacea — they being the Sable Serpents — because of the potential I was gifted with, see."
The boy's casual tone did little to soothe the man, still shocked from the accident. He stared up at Jozef with a dazed look, holding his arm up gingerly, prompting Jozef to check there immediately. It had been battered from the accident, though unfortunately not in a way that Jozef could heal.

"If I had my first aid kit with me I could help more, but I didn't think I'd be on duty today. Oh, I can close that up for you though!"

Jozef had noticed it upon first inspection, but it didn't seem too serious. Dried blood smeared across the man's forehead, obscured by hair that Jozef brushed away. A simple gash, to Jozef anyway. Cleaning up grisly Serpent wounds in normal times made it seem tiny in comparison, but it would still need stitches if he didn't intervene now, so he pressed his palm against the man's forehead.

"It's a healing potential I have, just hold still."

The man obeyed, and Jozef's potential activated… And fresh blood dripped beneath his palm as the man soon began to squirm away from his so-called healing touch.

"Crap." Jozef hissed quietly, pressing his bloodied palm against the forehead once more. It was a part of his potential that Jozef tried to pretend didn't bug him — it's all part of the gift after all — but in times like this it was the last thing he needed. The funny quirk with his healing - sometimes it did the opposite of what he intended to do, and now the gash was twice as long as it was before.

"Just hold still and-" Another sickening tear across the forehead prompted the first words out of the man.

"HELP! HELP ME-"
"Dang it, just-"

In an instant, Jozef reconnected with the man's wound, and it was as though it never happened. Of course, the blood remained, but not even the faintest mark gave any sign of prior injury. Another man healed.

"There we go!"

The man sat for a moment in stunned silence, before rising shakily, hurrying away from Jozef as Celeste approached.

"You still need to rest, man!" Jozef called after him to no avail, he turned to the woman, a sheepish grin on his face.

"Wait, sir, you forgot your…” Celeste trailed off as she watched the man run in the opposite direction, sighing and looking at her companion with a vague shrug.

"Didn't quite go as planned, but he's ok, I promise. What's going on here anyway?"

"That could have gone much worse, you did a wonderful job.”
She praised him with a small smile, gently ruffling his hair, "and it looks as though a fight that broke out elsewhere is making its way toward us. I will admit, I am not too keen on getting involved.” Nervous laughter escaped her as she explained what little she had managed to gather from her brief observation of the situation.

Jozef looked at the chaos that continued around them.

Placing the backpack on the nearby bench, Celestine took hold of Jozef’s arm and turned him so he was facing the direction the tall woman was in, "We also need to keep an eye on her- try to avoid her and help whomever we can, alright?” she added, doing her best to keep her voice even, but it was getting hard to ignore the tightness in her chest as things only continued to escalate.

If there weren’t so many innocents at risk, Celeste would have left and taken Jozef with her, but that wasn’t an option. She scanned the area and let out another sigh, gritting her teeth, "Alright, let us get back to work.”

“Woah.”
Jozef looked up at the towering woman, “She’s making all this mess?” He nodded firmly at Celeste’s instructions, bringing the protective goggles from his hair down to his eyes, shooting her a smile afterward.

“Guess someone needs to clean things up.”

Jozef set off in a jog down the street, Celeste following close behind, further towards the chaos.

All this coupled with the arrival of another Dragon who looked very much like the girls in school who made an extra effort to steer clear of her.

But, if familiarity breeds contempt then ambiguity created opportunities. Opportunities to uncover something she didn't know before; opportunities to gain new insight So, as her classmates would say, she was going to "roll with it" - a saying that she learned did not involve any rolling at all.

Quietly walking over to the little fox, she bent down and proceeded to pick it up mostly to keep it out of a very aggravated Hifumi's way and save it from getting kicked again. As she pulled it away from Hifumi's leg, she noticed something quite odd. Lying down on the floor to get a better look, she brought her face inches away from Hifumi's heel. Where Rei had nipped at were two clear puncture wounds but no blood. "You're not bleeding," Ottilie said, looking up at Hifumi with wide, curious eyes. "How are you not bleeding?"

And as they both struggled against one another, they eventually crashed into a office building, Helva was thankful for her Sponserees orb of darkness or else she was sure the Dragons Jack would of tried use them as a battering ram when crashing into the building. Instead she was sure it wasn't a fun ride for either of them, and when they had crashed Helva had released their hold on the Dragon Jack, causing them to crashed further away and slide into a row of computers and desks. Not a fun ordeal since the destruction of a few of the desks have caused office supplies to fall on top of her along with a computer. Still though, Helva persisted, and pushed all the stuff off of her before rolling over to the side in order to look at the ceiling, muttering to herself "Ich hasse mein leben.". At this point Helva wanted a short break from this, but looking down at her trousers, she was able to find blood that wasn't her own, knowing that the Jack was injured was more than enough motivation for her to continue their attack. So with new found determination, Helva took one look at her shoes, then quickly came to a decision that they should be light enough to make stealth a viable option for them.

Getting up from the ground Helva looked at the Dragons Jack with annoyance, and intrigue, though Helva wasn't fond of the Dragon Jack, she had to admit that she sure was making her work in order to capture her. She expected her potential to be operating in a simlar way to lyric, but it had seemed their fighting style was much different overall, still analyzing the situation now, Helva felt more confident she had the advantage. Skadis orb of darkness would prevent her from seeing , the smaller space, would make it so that she can't utilize her potential to her full advantage, or atleast so she hoped, plus a gravity potential user was nothing new to her along with the fact that kanna was also somewhat injured now . Meanwhile Helva main disadvantage at the moment was her, not having any real potential to utilize and the fact that this was now a one on one, instead of a two vs one like she had hoped for. She wished she could have her Sponseree here to help her, but she was still outside, and if she wanted her assistance she would have to take the Jack outside for that.

With a sigh, Helva grabbed a few office supplies off a few desks and started tossing them in random directions as she silently and slowly made their way towards Kanna, in a attempt to throw them off. When Helva was able to get within a close enough distance towards Kanna she threw one last item towards her right, before moving left and then lunging forward in order to try to grab the Jacks and pull them close enough towards them in order to elbow them directly in their face, and hopefully follow it up with a palm strike to her chest in order to force them to the ground.

------
Skadi meanwhile was a bit unnerved when she had lost sight of her Sponser and the Dragon Jack, she knew that her Sponser was more than capable of dealing with a single Dragon, Jack or not. She was still somewhat worried though it didn't show at all, she had her orb follow Helva in and was unsure if it was going to be in harms way or not, she hoped it wasn't the case since creating new ones were a tedious process that she didn't want to have to go through. If Skadi had half a mind she would run into the officer building and join them on whatever floor they were on in order to assist Helva. But that would mean if they brought the fight back outside, she wouldn't be able to help until she found out and moved back out, a standstill of a decision. She needed to watch the entrance that the two created but also needed to find a way to help her Sponser, eventually the most logical choice was to wait for either further commands of for Helva to bring the fight back outside. She had another orb of darkness activate around her in order to dissuade any attacks towards them, while she moved around and watched the hole in the office building.

------
Libla held the orb of darkness in her hand, as she charged ahead, punching whatever dragon was in her way at high speeds and then continuing on their way as if nothing happened. Eventually she was able to find a tall enough building to run up, and when she reached the top, she switched from her shadow boots, to her shadow board. Flying over their comrades and adversaries till they were able to Blitz to the location where the Dragon King and Lyric were fighting at. Hoping that everything was going already for Lyric, and that she was winning their fight against their adversaries.

TACTICAL MAYHEM
And so the Phoenixes and Central District Police clashed.

457b1084b26f7de2071d471a58682491.png An unstoppable force, the Phoenixes were, and their morale was on the rise with the inward flood of reinforcements from Havoc. Clipton Woodrow’s barrier had been breached all around, and he could do nothing to repair it, for his hands were tied by the strings of battle.

Pillars of concrete earth rose and crumbled in rapid succession against his brawny opponent who clobbered them with ease.

Lieutenant Mao stood surrounded on all sides by defending officers—about thirteen of them—unscathed as she scanned the field.

69efc935e6a939c91687cd86d5ffeb62.png“There.” She pointed in a seemingly arbitrary direction, turning an officer’s attention toward a Phoenix whose guard was down after a brief victory. A white, pistol-shaped weapon, flat of barrel, took aim in the officer’s grasp. After a breath, it fired and a whirring disk zipped through the air until it found and vacuumed itself to the Phoenix’s clothes.

Electricity enveloped the Phoenix wholly—a temporary paralyzing agent to also render their potential inactive—and they dropped. It was the same one that previously downed the Phoenix Ace in an earlier encounter.

f98095b2ae1057920b2758c9e23591bd.png Doctor Storm knelt perched upon the roof of a large SUV, wielding an RPG what’s sight she narrowed on an airborne Phoenix and fired. However, an unseen force caused the projectile-grenade to change trajectory, and it was sent for Lieutenant Mao and her defenders. The explosion threw bodies and body parts through the air, blood and entrails becoming splattered within a resulting crater in the 100-foot concrete barrier.

Another Phoenix descended on Clipton Woodrow as he managed to pin his initial opponent to the ground, cocooning them in concrete. Before he could turn to defend himself, a hook of rebar was driven down into his shoulder and yanked, making a bloody mess of him before he threw up a wall between himself and his new opponent.

Gunfire, explosions, and screams of all nature blended together in a sickly mixture that reached the ears like putty.

It was… to say the least, a massacre.

The Phoenixes. They would win this fight.

“Vell, vell… Vhat a mess you all have made.”

Pt8Test (1).png

A woman in a red skirt suit stepped out of a back driver’s side of a sleek black sedan, a deep-green military overcoat draped across her wide shoulders. Her long, wild blonde hair was held at bay by a heroic ponytail. That which remained fell heavy on either side of her pretty, scarred face. As she spoke, the red eye of a lit cigar bobbed up and down between her semi-parted lips. Smoke curled in a halo around her head.

“J-jeez. They’re all f-fuckin’ dead..?”

M03OP3L (1).png

The driver had done his best, under the circumstances; he had pulled in through the only visible entryway afforded to the car in the otherwise impenetrable wall of cement. Mostly he’d tried not to roll over any bodies, or… Body parts, as he made his way. He too joined the imperious woman outside the idling car. Beside her, he looked small, hunched, and over-tired, though he liked to consider himself of average height… He ought to stop slouching. He ought to stop doing a lot of things. His eyes were heavy with a mixture of over-worry, over-caffeination, and singular lack of sleep. Any one of the three, or perhaps a combination, or something else entirely, seemed as probable a cause as any for the shock of ghost-white hair that sat atop his head, his hairline in full retreat thanks to the set of heavy, golden goggles that adorned his forehead. Hands stuffed deep in the pockets of baggy, athletic pants, the man—whose hunch only seemed to be accentuated by the heavy gold-linked chain that swung like a pendulum from around his neck—peered warily at the courtyard ahead.

“Not all of ‘em! Some’re just maimed.”

NcI2Aap (1).png

At last, the passenger’s side door cracked open, and out spilled the final member of their little entourage: a lithe, slippery-looking fellow in a pristine, porcelain-white three-piece suit. His eyes—appearing closed to all the world—and mouth were smiling beneath a mop of thick, orange hair.

The trio, now assembled, stared down the valley of death before them, and the murder of Phoenixes that dwelled therein.

The atmosphere shifted, and time seemed to slow as two Phoenixes split from the bulk of the fray, one on either side of the new arrivals, leaping to attack.

As if on cue, the men on either side of her shuffled a healthy few paces back. In the same breath, the blonde bombshell stepped forward, a hand propped lazily against the curve of her hip.

“To sink, zat zey vould be so bold. Almost commendable.”

Clipton Woodrow eyed the newcomers, weaving clear of the hooked rebar’s downward arc as his opponent slashed and swung. He recognized none of them and, therefore, did not relish. In fact, not a single officer still standing could claim acquaintanceship with one of the mysterious trio.

“DIE, YA FUCKIN’ SUITS!” screamed one approaching Phoenix.

“Ain’t ever seen some assholes so eager for death,” muttered the second, closing in on the trio’s right. And, together, they executed their individual feats—the left, wielding, now, a scythe of wind—the right; mouth opened wide in what appeared to be the regurgitation of a deadly spike, dripping with a yellowy substance, holding back a momentum ready to surge it forth.

It was over before it had even begun.

The first Phoenix to fly was the first to fall, as an invisible, downward force spiked both his wind scythe—and his head—down through the first layer of gravel and asphalt that painted the parking lot. His body twitched spastically before it fell still.

The second, either unwanted by the fate of his fellow or too stupid to read the change in the wind, charged ahead nonetheless, only to be met with a breadth of empty space where the woman—his target—had once stood.

Angling his head down, he caught sight of the flutter of a jacket before coming face-to-scarred face with this mysterious new arrival. The next thing he knew he was flying through the air. He had the dull sense that he’d been punched in the gut, and that the upward arc of the fist had placed him on his current trajectory. Up, and up, and up… He flew through the first layer of clouds before losing consciousness, if not altitude…

Back on earth, Yelena had begun to examine her nails. Meanwhile, her orange-haired attendant was squinting up at the man-shaped hole in the cloud cover. “Where’d ya’ think’ll land?” He asked, though his query went unanswered, as in that very same moment, a small army of black-clad figures appeared along the cement barricade’s 3-wall perimeter. Discarding grappling gear and adorned in strange, full-face masks, the platoon of unfamiliar, unidentified figures descended the near-side of the wall and moved with precision to engage the nearest Phoenix in sight.

If any Phoenix were observant enough, if they’d been there on that night—the night of the hurricane, then they’d have recognized these figures as the same unknowable force that had assaulted their homes under the cover of the raging natural disaster. And now, they were here.

Finally satisfied that her manicure remained in tact, Yelena spat the wasted butt of her cigar to the ground and stomped out its dying embers. In an imperious voice, she called out, commanding her fresh, faceless force to, “Take ‘zem out!”

Orion | Lab Perimeter, North | Filth In The Gutter

There was an explosion, the sound of rending metal, and everything burned. The Dragons had succeeded in tearing this place apart.

And like the rest of the Serpents he began making his exit. The pounding ache in his head only making the urgency of the situation much more dire. He'd barely even reached the lab area before things had blown apart and with all this infighting chaos he hadn't had a single chance to even get a glimpse of Ten or Darius. With fire everywhere, all he had to do was absorb and use the heat to kindle his own pyrokinetic abilities and carve a path straight out of the building. No sooner had he done this, did he catch a glimpse of Sang-Cheol in the distance, approaching-- his eyes narrowed.

Isn't he-- his hunch was right, he was the one who had initiated the attack.

This hardly was anything to care much about, but it was the things that Sang-Cheol said that made Orion freeze.

"Darius is dead?"

He didn't know what to make of that. What happened to Ten? Was Ten dead also?

A hundred feelings rushed by in a eye-blink and Orion wasn't sure what to even do anymore. In the chaos of it all, he had thought perhaps the two would have survived but perhaps that had been wishful thinking. Too wishful.

Much like when he'd hoped Felix's father would somehow pull through despite knowing his corpse couldn't just magically come back to life.

The flames of his hair danced and the burning fire of his eyes glowed with his sense of great sadness, anger, and deep disappointment. Yet disappointment in what exactly? Himself? He wasn't even sure.

But then again that wasn't true at all.

Looking around his mind could not help but think of just what Felix would think of him, if he ever knew the life he'd led after leaving them all behind. From a contract assassin that worked for their government to a wannabe thug, working at the bottom of a gang through coercion.

He watched as Sang-Cheol stuck himself with something and then engaged the Dragon that had led to all of-- Krrrsh- somewhere within the flaming warehouse an explosion had went off that just collapsed something.

Once again that age old question rang: Why am I still here?

And he realized as he watched Sang and Jiak begin trading blows, that the only reason he'd ever joined the Serpents was because he'd felt that old spark of his past life. Where he'd been a part of a gang that asserted its authority already an already decrepit place with the purpose of making it better. Yet being with the Serpents these last few months...all it had done was stab him with the reality check of just how vastly different his troupe were vs their disgusting illicit activities.

While he'd done his absolute to stay out of anything that related to kidnapping for whatever it was they conducted, he was still complicit.

Some part of him was glad that the warehouse was perishing- but not if it meant, Darius and Ten had to suffer. They had been the only two he'd seen so far among the Serpents he'd interacted with that held a semblance of decency left-- then again, that could have just been more wishful thinking.

It was time to put an end to that though- and move on.

Clenching the scabbard of his sword tightly, Orion hair and body burned, drawing fire from the warehouse into him-- before in an explosion- loud enough to catch attention- just as Sang shot three rounds right at Jiak-- the Serpent shot into the air, and away from the fatal fight between Serpent and Dragon.

"Guess it's time to start all over again" he muttered- nothing but a human torch in the sky as he soared far up into the sky, landed on the distant roof top of a building- and with another fire cracker bang, blasted off that building towards Central District.

"Not like there was much for me to leave behind with in the first place anyway."

"Hope you rest in peace, Darius.... Wish I hadn't been so aloof when you were still alive."

The hiss of steam sounded, as the heat dried the misting of tears.

Much to her relief, everyone in the room believed Kasumi's allegations. Not that she had any doubt to begin with, but Kasumi briefly thought that it would've seemed a bit far-fetched.

She maintained her look on Jane as they explained themselves. But the words Jane was saying still didn't put Kasumi at ease. Going to the security room before consulting Roy? Avoiding the guards that were stationed there?

Jane's next words caught Kasumi's attention.

She's a Dragon?

Kasumi wasn't her sister. She wasn't aware of every new member that joined the Dragons' ranks. But living with Kanna had its benefits, and one way or another Kasumi had heard every gang member's name at least once. Jane was not one of them.

She was about to speak up, when Kasumi noticed Jane's hand was holding onto her phone, halfway out of her pocket. And her fingers were moving. Without hesitation, Kasumi quickly accessed Jane's phone, tracing a text message that was sent out. The recipient wasn't too far away. In fact, they were within the convention center. A quick ping and cross-reference with the cameras, and Kasumi was able to identify the person Jane had texted, who was wearing multi-colored clothing. She watched as the another man approached the booth the target was manning. After what seemed like a few short exchange of words, the one that Jane texted stepped out of view while the second person took their spot at the booth.

Kasumi quickly made a copy of the messages, sending the copy to her own phone before backing out of her potential in time for Jesper to speak to her. Her eyes blinked once as she watched him run off to another room. A short while later, Guardian appeared. She opened her mouth, about to speak, but everyone else was already headed out.

She sighed. Kasumi had to stay behind in case anything were to happen to Jesper. Even with the other employees around, this Jane person could be capable of anything. Especially if they were an HP. Plus, she had to find a way to track down the person Jane texted

Kasumi said nothing as she walked down the same hallway Jesper went down, thinking. He was already set that this Ariadne person was the culprit. But the Dragon veteran was sure something else was going on.

As she entered the room Jesper was in, she closed and locked the door behind her, taking a seat in another chair in the room. It seemed the only way for her to be able to do anything right now was to hijack one of Jesper's drones. Kasumi had done it in the past, but not often. She pulled out her phone, using it as an access point and quickly accessed the Guardian network. She picked one of the drones that were hovering around Jesper, hijacking it. Using the built-in speaker, Kasumi spoke up.

"Jane is not working alone. I tracked a message she sent to someone while we were speaking in the private room. She instructed them to 'Go in'. I will deal with them."

Without delay, Kasumi navigated the drone to where the man Jane messaged was. At the same time, she forwarded the copy of the messages Jane sent to what was assumed to be her accomplice.

She took a moment to ensure she was targeting the correct person before instructing the drone to fire a non-lethal bullet at them specifically at their leg to cripple them. Kasumi then spoke through the drone again.

"Do not resist."

The drone hovered slowly towards the target.

"You will identify yourself and the others that you are working with, and your true intentions. Or you will be killed."

“Pierre Ackrén? That’s a cute name.” Raquel said as she dragged her ‘cat’ into the elevator. Her eyes looked around the elevator. There was most likely a camera somewhere in this room. The female veteran couldn’t look up since that would make her conspicuous, but that was Hide’s problem now.

Putting a hand on her chest, she introduced herself. “I am Amelia Enhart. The grumpy person over there is my husband, Gerald Enhart.” When Raquel mentioned Hide’s fake name, she lightly jabbed her elbow into his ribcage. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Ackrén.”

“Pleasure’s all mine. Amelia, Gerald, I hope you enjoy the rest of your time here.” Pierre looked at each face, never dropping his smile.

Raquel’s eyes looked over towards the elevator buttons. Third floor. Hecty and everyone else was awaiting for her grand entrance. As an appreciator of time, she couldn’t leave them hanging. “Though, enough about me. What about you?” She walked up to Pierre. Putting her hands onto his shoulders; a smile crept onto her face.

“You’re a well accomplished man. Working here for over ten years. You must be a hard worker. I have a lot of questions to ask.” Ah, she was hungry. Pierre would have slowly noticed that she was stronger than she looked.

“But there is one question, I don’t think you can answer.”

“Oh really?” His interest was piqued now, narrowing his eyes at the woman while becoming aware of the grip she had on him. “Well, do ask away. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.”

“Well in that case, sate my curiosity will you?” Laying on her head against his shoulder, Raquel gave Pierre a voluptuous smile. “Can you open your mouth for me?”

”Open my…” With the interaction getting odder and odder by the second, Pierre was regretting his decision to engage with the troublesome couple. After a few seconds giving Raquel a weird look in response, he gingerly opened his mouth, showing off his teeth and tongue. He couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at the bizarre nature of the request. ”Happy? Was his intended word, but it was difficult to speak with an open mouth, so it sounded garbled.

Raquel smiled, “Well aren’t you a good boy. Let me reward you with something.” In the next instant, Raquel closed in. Her technique was forceful and unrelenting. Some may even call it sloppy. That’s mainly because Raquel has never kissed anyone before and was a virgin.

Though as they continued to make out, Raquel tasted a unique combination. It was sweet, yet disgusting. Thick, but smooth. Raquel bit down.

Ah, now it tasted perfected.

Breaking off the kiss, she licked her lips of the blood. “Instead of a sample, how about I take a whole course.” In the next instant with her prey pinned out, she went in. Her mouth was wide open as she became nothing more than a rabid animal looking for seconds.

Pierre stood in stunned silence as Raquel went in for the kiss, and though he didn’t return the affection, he didn’t reject it. She must already be drunk… or just crazy. His mouth stung, closing fully the first instant it could after she pulled away, tasting blood in his mouth. He eyed her with a shocked luck, before common sense took over and he pushed at the ravenous girl, hoping to keep her away.

“Alright, alright, that’s enough.” His tone was no longer welcoming, no longer tolerant of the couple’s nonsense.

The elevator reached the 2nd floor, only 1 floor away from its destination.

For Pierre, he had been already trapped by the Gourmet’s trap. Even if he was an HP, Raquel was even stronger than the average HP. Now no longer playing nice, Raquel pinned him against the wall.

“Now, now, isn’t that rude?” Her veil of femininity disappeared. What was replaced was sadistic glee and expectation. “You know what they say, once you give something, you cannot ever take it back.”

She leaned closer to Pierre’s ear. “So thank you for the meal.” In the next moment, her mouth was wide open. Razor sharp teeth that would make a shark scared, came upon Pierre. There wouldn’t be anything left except the scream and splurges of blood when she was done.

“What is wrong with you?” Pierre pushed against Raquel’s advance, and though his strength was at HP level, it wasn’t enough to keep the cannibal away, seeing her jaws come ever closer.

“HELP! SECURITY!”

At first it would seem that his plea would fall on deaf ears, but then he opened his mouth again, not to speak, but to scream. In an instant, the box echoed with a deafening, disorienting wail, and Pierre hoped to capitalize on that by keeping distance between himself and the couple, shoving Raquel again.

What in the hell was happening? One second Raquel was kissing, biting, then the next? His eardrums were about to burst. Hide shouted in pain, his scarred hands quickly coming up to cover his ears. “WHAT THE FUCK?!” These two were fucking insane! His eyebrows scrunched together, pulling a dagger from behind him. “GET HIM TO SHUT THE FUCK UP BEFORE I SLIT HIS FUCKING THROAT.”

“KYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” Raquel couldn’t hear anything else as her eardrums were being ruptured. Blood spurted out of her ear’s canal, but she didn’t budge an inch. The pain was exhilarating and added to the feeling of the meal.

Like a wolf, Raquel went for the throat. Even though she couldn’t hear what Hide was saying, they were so compatible that she went for the same target as he was. Her glistening teeth chomped down onto Pierre’s throat. The teeth held firm against Pierre’s struggle. He was going to die, and she was going to dine.

After the first wave of noise ended, Pierre opened his mouth again for round 2, but it was cut off too quickly, devolving into shrill gurgling as blood poured out of his throat, some captured in the woman’s bite, and some spraying the floor below him. It didn’t take long for his struggle to slow, and then cease, leaving nothing but fresh, warm meat.

Then, drowned out by the residual damage the scream caused, a ding sounded.

Pierre’s potential was rarely used. Never in his line of work did he feel the need to scream like that. It didn’t have a large radius, unnaturally dropping in volume once one was 5 metres away, but enough people were close-by, clutching their ears in confusion as the source of the noise reached the 3rd Floor.

The elevator doors opened to a crowd of half a dozen, who looked upon the scene in terror.

Hide mumbled to Raquel, “For fuck’s sake… of course this is what you meant by showtime…" His shoulders hunched in discomfort at all the eyes on them. They were so screwed. He hastily tucked his dagger back behind him under his waistband.

Tigers Arc 3: Scene 2 [The Heist]

THE HEIST

As Ryu fought the twins, a few shots rang out from Sylvie as he pumped rounds towards the twins in an effort to aid the Tiger Queen. This provided some breathing space as they were forced back into their ghostly forms, allowing Ryu to regain his composure and go on the offensive again as he swung his blade with a precise fury. But the rookie was forced to stop when gas filled the air and obscured his own line of sight. Gas filled the loading bay thanks to Jennifer's grenades, making the line of sight for the guards firing on the tigers more distorted as their shots began to fly by and occasionally patter the truck as they stayed in their position.

Despite their full-covering helmets, it seemed that they didn't have air filters in them which caused them to cough and water their eyes. One of them, after trying in a futile manner to recompose themselves, aimed upwards towards the truck's outline but found that a red glare pierced the gaseous air. A powerful boom filled the area as Jennifer's shotgun pumped a slug into the man's chest, sending him flying back into a nearby pillar. However, like with Samira's first target, he seemed only stunned by this as his thick body armor took the brunt of the blow as he writhed in place and struggled to get back up. Another boom collided with the man's helmet, cracking the visor of bulletproof glass as his head now slammed against the pillar he was now leaning against. And then a final boom that finally broke through his defenses and splattered his brains into a pulpy mess inside his helmet.

Camila took advantage of the situation to push ahead to try to disarm some of the heavily armed guards, pushing through her own pain from the tear gas to knock down one of the guards and flung his primary firearm away. The man, despite his armor, still felt the stock of falling with all his extra weight straight onto his back as he struggled to get up from the disorientation. This was enough for Camila to head for the next as she used the tear gas for cover, narrowly avoiding getting shot point blank by her next target, and slipped him as well with her tail. The man also fell with a heavy thud onto his back. But before she could fling his weapon away, the concrete next to her became riddled with bullets which showered her with chips of the ground until one shot hit her in the thigh. Thankfully, the weapon was not strong enough to pierce her skin but it still let out a wave of pain and a large welt from where the bullet had collided.

A close call, and when Maria signaled with the truck this was the call for Camila to retreat back to the truck as Samira clambered inside and practically grabbed Sylvie to get in as well. While all this was happening, Ryu continued to fight with the Twins: he continued to force them back and forth between their forms, but was otherwise doing no damage to them. And every time they landed a small blow on him was a part of his stamina reduced. He couldn't keep this up forever. However, he took a moment to observe as he swung his blade again. In the fractions of a second that passed, he watched as his katana passed through one twin before twisling his wrists and arcing about the opposite way to pass through the other twin. A realization hit Ryu as he saw them shift in that crucial moment to avoid damage: it was not instantaneous. There was a delay. At least, to emcompass their entire bodies. That meant, for a fraction of a moment, there lay an opportunity.

Ryu swung his blade again, leaving himself open on purpose as Smile punched Ryu in the face, cracking his mask. The Queen twirled about as he steadied himself to draw them further into his trap. Vile was next as he punched the Queen in the chest, sending him staggering back a few feet, before Smile punched Ryu again on the right side of his face. This gave Ryu the momentum he needed as he twirled and sheathed his blade into its scabbard. His concentration in the moment allowed him drown out all noise as, in the zone, he watched as Vile swung his fist at him. Ryu furrowed his brow and snarled as he began to release his blade from its hold, which had Vile begin to shift into his ghostly form. The ethereal form began to shift from the center of his mass and travel across his body in anticipation of Ryu's attack.

But then, Vile could see a glint from under Ryu's mask of brilliant purple from where his eyes were. And in an instant, the situation changed as Vile let out a roar of pure agony as his arm from the elbow down was severed from his body. His limb flew away from a blow he didn't even *see* happen, as Ryu held his sword up high as his swing had already been committed so fast. Smile could only look at first in confusion, and then shock as he watched his brother flounder to the ground, clutching at his severed arm as blood spurted in gratuitous amounts. "W-what the-!?" Smile said aloud before turning to look at Ryu. Arcs of dark energy danced along the Tiger Queen's steel for a moment before dissipating as he stood upright again to stare straight at the other twin.

Smile was determined now to kill Ryu as he brandished his knife once more, but his brother's screams drew his attention back to his kin as his gaze darted between the two of them before he quickly came to Vile's aid. But before anything could happen next, a rumble filled the air as the ground shook and cracks appeared in the walls and pillars of the loading bay. Though surprising to him, Ryu quickly took this moment to disengage entirely and darted for the van. By now, everyone had climbed in which gave Maria the signal to get the hell out of there. Her expert driving skills came as a boon as she drove with the pedal to the metal, taking them out of the place with ease and more deep rumbles filled the area. She even hit one of the guards on her way out, his body colliding with the truck with a heavy thud as they crashed out of the bank and sped off like madmen.

By now, the earthquake was getting much worse as buildings swayed and the ground rippled as the damage became catastrophic to the area. Ryu didn't care, so long as he got what he needed as he re-secured his bag strap across his chest and held on as best as he could in the van. Rubble began to patter the van as it drove across Central to leave, Maria doing her best to avoid collapsing debris as she swayed the armored truck from side to side to dodge the falling projectiles.

"Cal! We need a way out of here, now!" Ryu then shouted into his earpiece as a big piece of concrete struck the roof of the van, visibly denting it with a resounding crash. "This whole place is about to collapse!"

"I'll send the route... got it!" Cal then spoke on their wavelength, with Maria receiving the instructions on her phone shortly after. "It'll take you to an old access tunnel that connected West and Central under the waterway. But you better get there fast, before this freak earthquake collapses it!"

THE HEIST

Shrouded in gas, Sylvie only had the sounds of the battle to go off of, as the vague outlines of figures in the mist weren’t enough to tell what was happening anymore. He crouched by the side of the van, trying in vain to stop the gas from breaching his mask, but to no avail. It slipped through with ease, burning his eyes. His gun remained up, as though he didn’t have the confidence to shoot with no visible target, he wanted to be prepared. Thankfully, he didn’t have a long wait before the van came alive with honking and music.

“Come on, let’s go!” He called out to his allies, unsure if they were all close, but soon a hand was placed on him, leading him into the truck, where he clambered desperately into his seat, gasping for the air that was clearer in there.

Sylvie didn’t try to watch the fight through the fog as they waited for Ryutaro to enter, head down in his arms, but he could hear the screams that emanated from the twin. Only when the ground beneath rumbled, threatening the integrity of the building did Sylvie jump in his seat, clutching the door handle as though it might stabilize something. Ryutaro arrived not long after that, and the van sped off, leaving Sylvie wondering just what he missed that caused the shaking.

Unfortunately, it seemed that whatever was going on wasn’t concentrated at the bank, his eyes fearfully watching the damage accumulate outside.

“What the hell is going on?”

With one hand hanging onto the door for dear life, another went over his head after the first crash on the roof, to protect it if anything else came crashing down upon them.

Nikolai payed no mind to the new imbecile that had popped up into their merry crew. Instead, he focused his attention on Tri, trying his best to simmer down his heated temper from earlier. That was so un-badass of him. Cool guys were supposed to be- well.. cool. And that certainly wasn't.

Though, perhaps the blue skid mark hair had a point. He paid no mind however, a hum vibrating his throat. He didn't particularly care what they were running from, all that mattered is that they had to be prepared. For any and all situation. Isn't that what a smart bad guy did?

Niko chuckled as Tri called them runts, a small satisfied smile on his face. Serves them right, those cowards. If they were going to be useless, then it was better for him if they were useless elsewhere. He didn't need their incompetence infecting him thank you. He huffed, crossing his arms with a sneer aimed at Celestine. However, his traitorous body tensed as she neared, flinching as she touched his clothes. This was a time where Celestine's height truly revealed how monstrous she was. He gulped at the sharp pain digging into his shoulders. A shuddering breath left him as she finally walked away. He could feel a slight flush on his cheeks, his eyes wide. Celestine... was perhaps someone worth admiring. A small smile of adoration flit across his face before he realized it. He quickly tamped it down.

Nikolai's eyes darted to Tri, suddenly made aware he was running. Running weirdly- but nonetheless he was off! Shit. Warn a guy huh?! In a flurry, he rushed after him, not sparing a second glance at his halfwitted subordinates. They could have their pathetic bleeding hearts stuck on a spike for all he cared. He did his best to keep up behind him, his lithe legs nearly tripping over themselves. Why the hell was this old man so fast?!

THICKER THAN WATER
How long had it been..?

It was hard to say. The days had long since blurred together.

His eyes fluttered behind closed eyelids. He was dreaming again. Dreaming of the sun.

A noise from somewhere outside the protective dome of his subconscience racketed in the back of his mind, like a clattering of pots and pans as they hit the cool, tile floor of a kitchen.

He was hungry. His stomach yawned within him. Raph thought he could feel the cobwebs tickling the insides of that barren waste. When was his last meal? He was thin, gaunt. His hair was long and unkempt. It fell in his face and he didn't have the wherewithal, the energy, to wipe it away.

His head hung forward and his feet dangled over open air, suspended by chains wrapped beneath his outstretched arms.

He thought he heard another noise. A noise beyond the usual rats scrabbling along the floor, eyeing his meat greedily. He'd probably be feeding them one of these days...

Then again, he heard it. The sounds of a voice, wafting in from the cracked door of his cell, his own personal torture chamber.

"Aha! I knew it," A familiar voice chimed, though it was cold and far away to Raph's ears. He may have even been imagining it. "There was no way the rest of this place was that fancy".

There had been a time when he still had hope. Hope for rescue. Hope for a reprieve. But those days were dead.

All that was left for him now, was this. Grey behind his eyelids. Grey beyond them. A grey world.

Purgatory.

FOLLOW THE LIGHTNING

As the Phoenixes exited the establishment from the back, they were greeted by back alleys that were often populated by drunkards stumbling out of the night life estabilshments here. Trash bins were filled to the brims, as trash day had yet to come, and the hum of various AC units droned in the air to give an idea of just how dreary this was. There was only one path forward, which led through a winding way between buildings and back out towards the streets. However, there was also an oddity: a manhole that was opened. However, the covering was not like the ones that led to the sewers, this one was much older and had much harsher signs of wear on it. Looking inside, both Noa and Ryoma would see that it was in fact a discontinued section of the New Oasis sewer system, as there was barely any fluid down below nor any stench save for moss and small growths along the old brick and stone.

It didn't take much to realize that this is likely where Hitoshi's pursuers had gone to, and so without much prompting the Phoenixes would lower themselves inside to explore. Fortunately, the way behind them was barred off by old steel bars, which meant that the only path was to steel on ahead. Although dark, their phones would provide the lighting as they soldiered onwards, coming across the occasional rat to scamper between holes in their path. What gave indication that they were on the right track was that, after some time, they could hear some commotion in the distance. It sounded like talking, though none of the Phoenixes could discern who is was or what the spoken topic was. But the echoes indicated that there was a much larger area up ahead.

The voices grew closer as the Phoenixes pushed up, and could now hear... music? This was out of the ordinary for an abandoned sewer line, but it became clear when they turned the corner and entered a much more expansive area. The regular tube of the sewer tunnel gave way to large, arched roofs of brick and pillars that lined extravagantly into arrangements of cocentric circles. The music was on mild blast, playing what appeared to be dance music, as the Phoenixes reached the center to find a whole arrangement here. Sound speakers, cables, and lights lay strewn about in an attempt to create a club-like environment as a few individuals tried to fix up one that had been thoroughly busted up. One of them in particular, the ringleader it seemed, sported large blond peaks of hair as an incredibly strange hairstyle. Perhaps this was something 'in the new'?

Everyone's talking became hushed once they became aware of the Phoenixes' presence, which had the leader spin about in surprise before waving his hands to his peers to try to get them to fix things up.

"I'll, uh, handle this..." the ringleader said to his peers as he waved them to continue fixing up their busted gear before coming on approach. It was visible that he was nervous as he looked between Ryoma, Noa and Tyr with apprehension before speaking. "Hey, uh... you're not here to bust up our speakers and yell at us, right? We don't want any trouble! We already told your pals what they wanted to know, okay? Please don't hit me with a bat..."

He shirked away quickly, as if expecting to get hit with something in the moment. But when nothing came he peeked out in surprise as he regained his composure and straightened himself just as quickly, realizing that he had just embarrassed himself. "Sorry... uh... I guess you're not... with them?" he then asked out of confusion, "Who are you guys? And who were they?"

THE DRAGON AND THE PHOENIX
As Rin sped past, the Phoenix King made no move to follow her movements. As of yet, she had not marked herself a threat—no, an obstacle to be surmounted—as the Giantess had, and so Lyric’s focus remained elsewhere… Even as illusory walls rose around her, her mind remained fixed on the task at hand: find the other three Kings and destroy them, along with anyone who would try to stop her.

Until she felt strong arms clamp down around her, pinning her own arms to her sides. Her slow march forward ground to a halt and a brief struggle ensued.

"Oi, oi… Quit strugglin' girlie! I ain’t gonna crush ya' long as ya' quit wigglin' so much!" The red-skinned woman spoke in a noticeably deeper and more gravelly voice. She then pulled upwards in an attempt to lift Lyric and deprive her grounded footing.

One opening and one opening only. So be it. Kaede popped the first button on her neckline open for an easier time breathing. Perhaps it was due to the sudden assembly of onlookers or perhaps it was the prospect of the gamble she was about to take, but her hands felt clammy. She had never been good at gambling, a family trait one might say. The thought provided a glimmer of humour, of something more lighthearted than the action she was about to attempt.

Brown eyes fixated on the exposed ankles of the King. The easiest area to target with the Oni covering up remaining body parts. She would still have a shot to take her off guard if Lyric broke free. Kaede leaned forward and began her charge. Her body phased through the walls erected by the illusionist and folded backwards at the last moment to slide the remaining distance. Hand shot out to wrap around the ankle.

“Tag, you’re it.”

As Kaede came sliding in, Lyric bucked her lower body hard, a reaction to Rin’s sweeping her off her feet, and activated her potential. As a consequence, Rin’s body became, to Lyric, lighter than air. The end result brought the Phoenix King’s feet slamming back down onto the pavement as, like a pendulum, Lyric swung the now weightless Rin over her shoulder and down, dragging the red-skinned Oni by her arm like a sack of potatoes. It just so happened that Kaede was right in the strike zone.

“Hah?” A dumbfounded look spread across the oni’s face as she suddenly felt all grounding in her stance lift. She was prepared for a struggle, but not to just be suddenly tossed as if she had no mass to her.

A giant’s hand stretched out to catch Rin as the oni was brought down while another curled itself into a fist as Meirin, from straight ahead, closed the distance between herself and Lyric. Too many things were happening at the same time for the Azure Dragon to process it all, but she knew one thing: she hadn’t drawn enough attention for YY’s plan to work. Therefore, instead of trying to avoid hitting and getting hit, she threw her other fist forward, aiming a powerful uppercut at Lyric’s gut area. ““Look this way!”

Lyric doubled over briefly, her gut folding in on itself from the force of the Dragon’s punch. Though it was only a brief moment’s delay before the Phoenix King recovered. Releasing Rin, Lyric grabbed Meirin by the fist that had struck her and wrenched it back and towards the Dragon woman’s own forearm with both hands. She would not have stopped until she heard the snap of bone. With her vice-like grip, Lyric switched her footing in preparation to drive a swift kick up into the enemy woman’s abdomen.

Snap!

Meirin gritted her teeth, but didn’t let out a sound as her right shoulder was dislocated by the Phoenix king who had caged one of her arms; A fighter, especially one invited into the Azure Dragon gang, couldn’t afford to stop mid battle just because of a bit of pain. The Night Lord would be ashamed. Besides, it was only one arm. She still had another to try and free herself with. The giant hand that had managed to stop the momentum of the weightless oni–barely feeling any impact given the human weapon’s lack of mass–opened up to release the red-skinned woman, who had already started to regain weight the moment Lyric let go, and balled into a fist, prepping to hammer down toward Lyric at the same moment Lyric prepared to drive a kick up into her abdomen. ““Sorry, no idea who you are, or why you’re trying to help us, but no time to talk!”

Despite speaking to Rin, Meirin’s attention was solely focused on the king with the vice grip on her arm. Blow for blow. If Meirin couldn’t free her arm, she’d deal as much damage as she could.

Neither noticed the woman near their feet, nor the impact of the brief physical contact she’d made.

Meanwhile, the overarching threat of being crushed was met by a pair of wide eyes. Fortunately the giantess compensated for the brief second that Kaede had been caught off guard, and she rolled away as a hand caught the flying Oni instead. There was no time to breathe out, however. Kaede propped herself up on her palms once a few meters away, dishevelled and mottled by dirt by the time she rose from the ground. Her gaze zoned in on the familiar mark that flared on Lyric’s ankle, a snake that was eating its own tail, and she raised her fingers to prepare the transfer. Kaede exhaled the trigger “Tag you’re in”.

And that was it. Lyric’s assault stopped almost immediately, her arms falling limply by her sides. She simply stood there, now. It was over.

Blinking confusedly when Lyric let go of her dislocated arm, Meirin’s fist stopped its descent to wave in front of the immobile Lyric’s face. ““W-what’s wrong now?”

The woman known as Kaede fell limp to the earth while the other awoke with a jerk. A flash of recognition and consciousness stirred within the “King’s” eyes and prodded lips to part. “Don’t hit.” ‘Lyric’ slowly raised her hands in the air to convey the words. She raised her voice in order for the rest of their companions to hear the conversation “It worked! I’m in”.

As Rin felt weight return to her form and she was released from Meirin’s grasp. She got ready to charge at the woman again, only to stop as Kaede slumped and the hostile woman suddenly became docile. “Eh? What…” Looking between the immobile body and the woman they were fighting, it seemed to be taking all too long for Rin to be putting 2 and 2 together.

KaeLyric couldn’t blame them for being confused. Nevertheless, she still let out a sigh. “Listen- you see that body over there?” She pointed to her original form that was motionless on the ground “That’s me- I mean my original body. Uh-”. It was a bit harder than expected to explain her potentiality without giving it away completely. Oh fuck it. “I’m Momo. I transferred my consciousness onto Lyric when I touched her. Remember the old man?” She nodded at the Dragon “-That was also me”.

““Oh,” Meirin responded, looking towards Kaede’s prone body as if the explanation was perfectly normal. Truth be told, she’d heard of all kinds of strange potential, especially after joining the Azure Dragon Gang. “What about Lyric’s consciousness? Heck, what about your body? Are you okay lying like that?”

“You could say that Lyric is sleeping right now, she isn’t aware that I’ve taken over her body. About myself-” KaeLyric made a quick glance over her unconscious state and the probable bump she had attained on her head after collapsing “It’s best that we put it somewhere safe. It’s basically in a coma for the duration that I’m possessing Lyric”.

As they talked, the group made their way slowly toward Kaede’s car.

In the midst of it all, someone had presumably scooped up Kaede's unconscious form as their party prepared to depart.

Before they'd gotten a chance to pile in, however, the ground beneath the car rumbled.

Then, it exploded.

HUNKS IN THE CITY vs. THE DRAGON AND THE PHOENIX
Markus had nothing more to gain, and even more brain cells to lose, by staying near to these Serpents any longer. He made the obvious choice and left, and not only because the floating Tiger had started chattering in his ear again.

“C'mon, c'mon! You saw dat big lady ova dere, din'tcha? Let's go checkit out! My taiga senses're tellin' me t' go dat way, n' they're nevah wrong!”

Markus bit his tongue and narrowed his eyes, but nevertheless he did as his unwanted passenger bid him. The woman who'd emerged above the line of buildings had disappeared by then, and the torrent of civilians fleeing the scene had slowed to a trickle. The only ones left were the thrillseekers, rubberneckers, and those too slow on the uptake to realize that their window to run away had closed. Markus snarled wordlessly and a small crowd parted to let him pass as he stalked into the next block over.

The scene that unfolded before him called to mind some kind shitty Renaissance painting. His mind, still picking the pieces of itself up after its brief stint beside Tri's, was having a hard time explaining to Markus what it was he was seeing. Dragons and Phoenixes. That was all he could tell at this distance. They were fighting. He ducked beside a parked car and peered at the scene. His already-narrowed eyes narrowed again. His brows furrowed and the corners of his mouth quirked with irritation. He was going to try and get closer, try and understand what the Hell was going on, when from out of the blue—

“SHE'S WEAK! KILL 'ER NYEOW!”

Markus rose with a start. He wheeled around on the Tiger Spirit and levelled a threatening finger against his furry chest.

“Oi, what'd I tell ya about—"

The TIger cut him off and directed Markus, with his paw, back to the scene as it unfolded. The fighting had ceased. And though he had to squint to see her clearly, Markus couldn't deny that the person who now stood peacefully amongst her one-time enemies was none other than the Phoenix King, Lyric herself. Now he knew what Tiger had meant. This might've been a golden opportunity. Tri was one thing. Lop the head off the Serpents and three more would sprout up in its place. But the Phoenix King in neutral territory... Possibly weakened, wounded, vulnerable. That seemed like an opportunity he could seldom afford to let slip away.

“Tsk...” Markus clucked his tongue. He was considering it, weighing his options.

By the time he'd made up his mind, the group had begun to shuffle towards a vehicle. Markus could feel his chance slipping away, like sand between his fingers.

Deaf to the mewling of Tiger, Markus pushed himself off of the car he'd been hiding behind and leveled his hand at the presumptive getaway car. He extended his thumb to the sky and pointed his index finger at the car. He took one deep, steadying breath, and then—

Bang!

A fault-line of ice torpedoed along the paved roadway, snaking its way under the car in question before exploding upwards and leaving a pillar of ice, half as tall as the buildings that lined either side of the avenue, in its place. The car flipped once, twice over, before landing on its roof on the sidewalk. For a moment, the only sounds to be heard were the whining of car parts and plastic and the creaking of the large, freshly-formed icicle as it settled into place.

“YOU IDIOT! LOSER! STUPID KING! YOU MISS—!”

Markus ignored the ravings of Tiger as he marched toward the group, confident that he'd gotten their attention, now.

For Markus, all that remained was for him to decide what to do with their rapt attention now that he'd gotten it. In the far distance, Markus thought he heard the sound of a siren.

His hand still raised, a coil of cold steam roiled up from his extended finger like smoke from the barrel of a gun. He leveled it at them all.

“One a' you. Explain this shit. Now...”

Yong-Yut sat herself beside the back of the car, leaning against it to watch the show unfolding in front of her. The ends of her scarf raised in preparation for anything to go wrong, but they all had it under control. Or at least, they didn’t need their intervention.

Instead, something else caught her eye- a sphere of darkness floating over 300 feet above the ground. It was reminiscent of the light-swallowing orbs that Skadi could create.. Was it her? No, Yong-Yut didn’t remember her being able to fly. Someone must’ve taken it. Helva? Helva would’ve gone through buildings to get to Lyric, probably.

Libla.

Yong-Yut raised her scarf up high, attempting to call the attention of the darkened area in the air. That was cut very short, however, as the car she rested with suddenly shot up into the sky, taking them with it.

Shit—

The car smacked into her back, causing her to spin underneath it. Luckily, it itself flipped away, and once again, Yong-Yut was falling.

This fall was much quicker in comparison, though, as just as fast as she flew up, she planted on the ground with a smack. She stared into the sky as the moment of silence passed. Eventually, with an ungodly, raptor-like groan, she sat back up.

Footsteps behind her lead to her turning her head towards them. She flinched, recognition sparkling in her eyes.

….Again?

Dusting herself off, she stood. Yong-Yut’s eyes flickered to the group with her before her attention returned to Markus. What were they supposed to say? They clasped their hands together with a thoughtful hum. “You’re sane?” was the first thing she managed to come up with. With the other two Kings acting so strangely.. Well, it was strange to see another king acting normally.

…Though, she figured she should follow up with some sort of context. “Something is wrong.”

A little more helpful would be nice. “With the other Kings, I mean. And it doesn’t look like anything’s wrong with you. Do you know anything about what might’ve happened?”

She paused a third time.

“Oh. That’s not actually the King, by the way.”

With her oh-so-helpful explanation finished, whether or not it was caused by her apprehension or her generally gauche demeanor, it was probably best if someone else took over the situation.

Gav | Central | Passionate Melody Onslaught

It was show time. The scene had transformed once again, and Gav, was anything but an adaptable stage performer.

Miles talked, he listened- and the task here was clear, impede Milo. Even with the timer counting down, Gav didn't wait- the second it took a heart to beat- Altaia had manifested and shrouded Gav's body in a cloak of blue energy and strange swirling symbols. Cloaked, he turned to Elizabeth, picked her up again without a word- princess style and then shot forward through the Maze-- senses searching for the pulsing, and now, familiar sensation of what would be Milo's own life force now that his own eyes had, for but a moment, caught a glimpse it.

The clock had ticked for only 4 seconds, and Gav was already on the move. He wouldn't waste time giving Milo a head start. He wanted this over with now-- but more importantly, he wanted to hold a conversation before any sort of fight began. Of course, ditching Elizabeth hadn't crossed his mind for even a second as he currently held her in his now oversized arms; in the second it had taken him to change forms, he had also grown in height from 6'5 to a whomping nine foot lithe muscular giant, and took off up a platform, eyes not seeing but feeling for Milo's very soul so that he might reach and crack down upon him to snatch that very key.

He didn't really care about Milo swatting the snot off some stranger in the video above, he just wanted to catch up with him- and pick his brain for what he thought of all of this so far--

And so shifting one arm out from underneath his quirky Screecher friend, he threw his hand out- fingers splayed wide open and from the forearm, it shot forward. Like some sort of anime or cartoon sequence, like a thrown fist and a hurled arrow- his arm shot out and the fingers of his engraved, bluish-aura stained hand, shifted into claws, wrist flicking back and then sinking into the ground-- right above Milo, before it came down faster than a dropped missile.

Gav's aura covered hand sank into the platform as the now 9ft behemoth carrying a probably very confused, neurotic and antsy squid haired girl- zoomed forward as his arm retracted back to its normal length, pulling him along with it and when he landed-- pupilless glowing eyes stared at Milo. Whether he'd evaded his attempt at ensnaring him or not-- and that eyeless, mouthless gaze- lasted a second before Gav's Cloak form, grew a seam at where lips or a mouth should have been and it ripped apart, reforming into lips.

"Milo! Good to see you again. Been a while since we started all of this huh? Saw you on the tele, good hook by the way- chick never saw it coming, hey here's a question" and then he went on, not waiting for a response, "what did you join this whole game show thing for? out of just pure blatant curiosity. Me? I came here out of well...blatant curiosity!" He laughed- and it wasn't just his voice that laughed too, both the Phoenix and Elizabeth would have noticed. "So I'm genuinely curious, what's your reason for tagging along in this game? Cause it seems to me" and he grinned- a very humane grin considering Gav's current features, "Miles has certainly taking a liking to you if he's putting you on the hit list."

THE GREAT THRESHOLD

“Pr-pretty voice? Thanks?”

Well, that was a damn first. He supposed they must have been decently far if they managed to hear it without being harmed. He felt his surroundings trying to determine if there were some amplifying measures to allow them to hear from far away.

Hmmm, maybe they weren’t so close. Who knew which way they had this place rigged up and separated. For all, he knew they could be hearing each other via speakers only intended to throw them in circles.

“Yeah, ‘bout that you do not want to be finding me based off singing trust me. That is gonna get you a one-way ticket to eating pavement once you’re close enough. But hey, did you guys find each other already? I’m not too sure we’re all that close to each other, could be we’re hearing each other from speaker-”

His theory was swiftly thrown away as he heard a hard thump somewhere nearby. He took a brief step backward concerned about what could be further into the darkness before realizing he would basically be ignoring his partners’ distress.

“Did one of you-ARE YOU OKAY? Hey, shout out if you need help!”

Suddenly another voice sounded out though completely different from the first female. He started making his way out to the new voice. It seemed closer than the other two had even if it was in the same direction. He balled the hand not being used to lead his way readying himself for anyone who could jump out at him. He found himself muttering under his breath as he continued.

“Shit, are there actual traps in here? Who the fuck designed this place?”
