Zara smiled and let out an amused huff of air at Héctor's declaration that people were going to kick themselves for not looking as stellar as them. And for Zara, that was practically the equivalent of a fit of laughter, seeing as she was not the sort to laugh out loud frequently.

She stood and watched as her friend looked around her extremely organized room. It was elegant and minimalistic- the first thing she did when she got in was take out any tacky hotel art and replaced it with more classic pieces of her own. Nothing was out of place, she kept everything tidy and clean.

Of course the first thing he wanted to do was see her outfits. Zara knew how passionate Héctor was about fashion. She enjoyed fashion as well, but was not nearly as involved in it as he was. She liked to shop and look good, but he was a proper fashion designer. She valued his input on this sort of thing.

"They're all in my room," she said, walking swiftly to the doorway that led to her bedroom. "This way." She opened the door to a comfortable and chic space, with two large closets. She opened them both up to reveal all her clothes, neatly organized into planned out outfits. "There are a lot of options, but these are probably the most suitable for a party." Zara gestured towards a section with shorter dresses, which were still elegant, but differed from her largely professional wardrobe.

Aveline

Bakery Owner

After closing up her bakery for the night, she felt a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling inside her. The aroma of freshly baked goods still lingered in her hair and clothes as she made her way home to prepare for the evening ahead. With each passing moment, the anticipation built; she wanted everything to be perfect for her friends.

Once she arrived home, she took a moment to reflect on the night’s plans. She rummaged through her closet, finally settling on a stunning red dress that hugged her figure just right. It was a bold choice, but she felt it matched her vibrant personality. As she styled her hair, she decided to let it cascade down in soft curls, pulling a few strands back with a playful red bow that added just the right touch of whimsy.

Feeling confident and ready to shine, she made her way back to the bakery. The closed sign hung in the window, but she had left the door unlocked, welcoming her friends into the cozy space. She wanted them to feel at home as they gathered for a night of laughter and celebration.

She couldn't shake the thought that she needed to look her best. After all, she didn't want to disappoint her friends; they meant the world to her, and she wanted them to see her at her most vibrant. As she waited for their arrival, she took a moment to calm her nerves. She poured herself a shot of Fireball, a drink she rarely indulged in. As the fiery liquid slid down her throat, her face contorted slightly, revealing her unfamiliarity with drinking. Yet, she knew that tonight was about letting loose and enjoying the moment with those she cherished.

With the bakery filled with warmth and anticipation, she took a deep breath, ready to embrace the night and create unforgettable memories with her friends.

Kennedy had pulled out her phone to distract herself from the awkwardness, but after a few minutes of texting, she tossed it aside in frustration. Turning to Darcy, she offered a gentle smile. "So, um, have you heard from Asher?" she asked softly, scratching her head. It had been a while since she last heard from him, and worry gnawed at her.

Trying to lighten the mood, she caught Bryson's gaze out of the corner of her eye and smiled again. "Actually, I could use some dessert before the party. I doubt it’ll be ready anytime soon. He mentioned he wouldn’t let you leave until he fixed it properly, not just slapped a band-aid on it." Her voice softened as she added, "Besides, you haven’t explored the whole town yet. You can’t leave just yet."

Glancing back at Darcy, she ran a hand through her hair and took a sip of her water. The thought of a "we'll talk about this later" conversation filled her with dread; for once, she simply wanted someone to go with the flow alongside her.

Cora glared at the guy, rolling her eyes in exasperation.
"No, I have a happy family,"
she replied sharply, her voice carrying an edge of frustration.
"But I recently lost my favorite horse."
The words slipped from her lips, tinged with a bittersweet sadness that she couldn’t quite conceal. It was a personal loss that stung deeply, and she wasn't about to let him make light of it.

She couldn’t figure out what his problem was, but she was determined not to let him get under her skin. With a sudden burst of defiance, she shot him a smile, even though her heart wasn’t in it. Scrunching her nose slightly, she began to tap her foot rhythmically against the floor, a small outlet for her restless energy.

"Well, it’s a good thing I didn’t write this poem for you,"
she said, her tone shifting to a mix of challenge and pride.
""Cheesy or not, it’s all about raw emotion."
She stood up, her determination growing, and reached out to grab her book back from his hands.

As she settled back down, clutching the book tightly, her gaze remained locked on his, refusing to waver. There was something about the way he looked at her that both intrigued and irritated her. She was ready to confront whatever this tension was, unwilling to back down. Cora felt the weight of her words and emotions surge within her, and she was determined to make him understand that her words held genuine significance, regardless of his dismissive attitude.

Constable's Wild Child

,Auriela smiled brightly as she watched Roman spin around in the coat, her excitement evident as she clapped her hands.
"I really don’t understand why you’ve never worn this before; I absolutely love it! I might just have to steal it from you,"
she chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling with delight. She looked up at them, her expression playful yet sincere.

"If you feel like it’s too much, you could always layer it with a white button-down underneath and pair it with some khakis or brown pants,"
she suggested, her tone turning thoughtful.
"That would tone it down from being over the top to something more casual. But if you’re feeling a bit bolder, my love, I’d recommend a matching red button-down and some sleek black dress pants. That would really make a statement!"

As she spoke, she walked over to the dresser, rummaging through the items in search of the perfume she had gifted them a while back. The scent always reminded her of special moments they shared, and she thought it would be the perfect finishing touch.

"You look really good in that, Romi Pooh,"
she said, turning back to them with a warm smile.
"Just wear it with confidence, and you’ll absolutely own the room!"
Her encouragement was genuine, and she hoped they could see how much she believed in them.

Hollis Warner

P
umping a fist in the air, Hollis jumped out of her seat.
"Love it!"
She spun the chair back the right way, pushing it in at the table with a satisfied nod.
"Meet back at 7, got it! Everyone get primped and pretty! Can't wait to see you soon~!"
With a grin plastered on her face, she looped her arm through Rachel's and speed-walked them both out the door, already buzzing with excitement about getting ready for the party.

Once home, Hollis and Rachel split up, each heading straight to their rooms to get ready. Hollis moved quickly, tossing her bag aside before rifling through her closet, trying to decide on the perfect outfit. She paused for a moment, contemplating something cute and festive. Maybe a Santa or Rudolph theme?

An idea suddenly struck her, and she pulled out her phone again, her fingers flying across the screen.

'Hey Mikey, what do you think about dressing up and matching for tonight? We could pull off something cute like Santa outfits? Or Snowmen!'
She hit send and waited, feeling a little giddy at the thought of dressing up with her friends.

Moments later, Mikey's reply lit up her screen, his enthusiasm practically jumping off the text. He agreed with the idea but they had to go back and forth a bit as they discussed what clothes they both had that could match. After a bit of time Mikey suggested something they surprisingly both happened to have: Grinch onesies!

Hollis couldn’t help the wide smile that spread across her face. Grinch costumes? That wasn't quite what she had in mind, but the idea of showing up in something that goofy was too good to pass up.
'You’re on. I’m in!'

Without wasting another second, she yanked open her closet again, digging through piles of clothes until she found it—the bright green Grinch onesie she’d completely forgotten about, buried deep in the back. She'd bought it on a whim a while ago but hadn't actually planned on wearing it out of the house. She pulled it out with a triumphant grin, eager to try it on.

Slipping into the onesie quickly, she pulled the hood up, adjusting the fabric around her face. She couldn’t stop grinning as she looked at herself in the mirror. The oversized grin on the costume was the perfect match for her own.
“Perfect,”
she muttered to herself, spinning once to get a full view.

She walked around her room, channeling her inner Jim Carrey, laughing quietly at herself and soaking in the ridiculousness of the whole thing. It was silly, but in the best way possible. Feeling satisfied, she left her curls loose, letting them cascade over her shoulders, and called it a day. It wasn’t a lot of effort, but it was fun, and that was all that mattered.

Exiting her room, she made her way down the hallway, her excitement building. She knocked incessantly on Rachel's door until she heard footsteps from inside. When the door swung open, Hollis leaned against the frame, striking an exaggerated pose, a smoldering expression plastered on her face.

She took a slow, deliberate look at Rachel from head to toe, her grin widening as she did.
"Lookin' good, babes."

Rachel raised an eyebrow at Hollis, her lips curling into a teasing smile. Hollis, ever the dramatic one, gave a slow, exaggerated wink before grabbing Rachel by the arm. With a playful tug, they both headed out the door, the excitement between them palpable as they made their way back to Aveline’s Bakery. The crisp air was filled with their laughter, both of them eager for the night ahead—full of friends, fun, and plenty of silly antics.

It was only a few minutes after 7 when they arrived back at the bakery. Hollis stepped inside, her eyes scanning the room, and immediately her gaze landed on Aveline. She took in her friend's appearance with an appreciative look.
"Awww, you look darling, Ave!"
she said, her voice full of playful admiration as she took a step closer.
"Seriously, you’re rocking that look."
She held up a bottle of Vodka she brought and walked towards where Aveline already had some shot glasses out, pouring a couple shots for them.

Wren Cross

W
ren chuckled softly at Belle’s little nose scrunch as she expressed her excitement for them to finally hang out. He smiled quietly, watching her as she indulged in her sandwich. After a moment, he mimicked her actions, taking much bigger bites of his own food, eagerly satisfying his hunger.

His eyes flickered down to Belle as she wiped the corner of his mouth, and he offered her a sheepish yet grateful smile. With a soft laugh, he grabbed a napkin to dab at the crumbs and remnants she had left behind, appreciating her attentive gesture.

Moving his hand up to rub the bottom of his jaw thoughtfully, Wren became quiet for a moment, considering what activities they could do to kick off their long-awaited reunion.
"I honestly hadn’t had anything planned for today,"
he began, his voice relaxed and casual.
"I was working late, covering for a coworker, and then I was helping Raven find some of the things that author guy was demanding for his book signing. After that, I was just planning on going back to my cabin and maybe curling up with a book my friend Roman recommended."

He paused for a moment, his eyes drifting downward as a thought struck him. Someone had mentioned a party at the lodge tonight. He wasn’t sure if it was definite, but it could be a nice change of pace.

Wren wasn’t exactly a “party guy,” but he loved his best friend, and if she had gone through the effort of coming all the way out here to surprise him, then the least he could do was accommodate her. Plus, a semi-large gathering at the lodge would give them a chance to have fun, see old and new friends, and still be close enough for Belle to retreat to her room if she got too tired. That thought made him smile a little.

Now that the plan was solidified in his mind, he glanced back at Belle, who was still munching happily on her sandwich.

"I don’t know if you’ll get a chance to do any wingmanning tonight, haha,"
he said with a playful grin.
"but I heard there’s a party going on at the lodge. It’s an open invitation. We can finish our meal here, then head over? That way, we’ll still have plenty of time to hang out, and you can say ‘hi’ to anybody else that shows up that you know."

now playing: perfect weather for a crime - helena deland

Naomi knew that she had most definitely just put her on the spot with all of her nosy inquiries. As a reporter, she was thrilled - it was her job to ask questions, especially when interviewing the topic of a story. But as a friend, she couldn't help but feel like she had overstepped her boundaries just a tiny bit. Who was she to go all therapist mode on Ivy when Ivy hadn't asked for it? Hopefully, Naomi hadn't gone completely off the rails and ruined a perfectly good evening out by opening her big mouth.

It had happened before in the past. Not with Ivy, of course. But Naomi's big mouth was what had led to her divorce, and she didn't want to lose anyone else to it. Fortunately for her, the subject was quickly dropped in favor of an old flame - Oliver. Though she had never met him, as she hadn't been in Revelstoke during those high school years, Ivy had told her all about the guy who had abruptly cut her off and broke her heart. And now he was back? She didn't know how to feel about the situation. All she wanted was the best for Ivy, but Naomi didn't trust the guy - hell, she didn't even know him!

So, needless to say, to hear Ivy say that Oliver had sent her a text threw Naomi for a loop. Her doe-like brown eyes widened at the news. "Are you serious? I mean...V, didn't he go ghost on you once? Who's to say that he won't do that again?" She quickly downed some more of her hot cocoa, already regretting having blabbed that out. The thought of seeing Ivy getting hurt yet again by the same idiot infuriated her beyond belief. Naomi was fiercely protective over everyone in her circle, and Ivy was no exception. If Ivy let Oliver back into her life again and he ended up pulling the same shit he pulled before, she was not going to be a happy camper. She hadn't been there when it happened the first time. But she was here now, and if the past repeated itself... Naomi sighed before turning back to her best friend. "What did he say? Did he apologize for what he did to you?"

Reece had to admit that the woman standing in front of him was an absolute dime. But he couldn't date her. Not yet, at least. He had to get himself accustomed to a new town, a new crowd...a new country. Of course, when he'd eventually find his place in Revelstoke society, he'd take her out on a date (if she wanted him to, that was - he wasn't going to force anything). It would be the best date ever, and he'd be the perfect gentleman. Whatever she wanted to do, he'd gladly do it. But that wasn't now. Besides, he didn't even have a job out here yet - and his savings were dwindling fast. There had to be a carpentry place around here, or a sports place, or something.

But until he found a steady job, and got out of the lodge and into a real apartment or house, Reece couldn't afford to take anyone out on any date. He wasn't a cheap date kind of guy. He wasn't the kind of guy to bring a girl to McDonald's and order off of the dollar menu. No, if she wanted to eat, they were going to go to a nice restaurant. So, even though he felt some sort of attraction to her, he'd have to refrain from feeling those things at the moment.

"Bad boy?" He sputtered, blinking a few times. He didn't see himself as a bad boy. Leather was uncomfortable, and motorcycles were kind of terrifying, if he was being entirely honest. "Uh...no, even though sometimes I wish I was." Reece rubbed the back of his neck, a slight heat flaming in his cheeks. "I'm just Reece, you know? I'm sweet like peanut butter." The awkwardness quickly faded into a cheesy grin. He liked to think of himself as a sweet treat, a delight to be savored by all. "Everyone loves peanut butter, you know. Unless you have a peanut allergy. In which case...I don't have an EpiPen. Sorry. Anyway...I'm running from the same old suburbia I've been used to my whole life. If I hadn't gotten hurt playing football, I'd be somewhere else right now. I'd be doing what I love, in some big city somewhere. But instead, I got hurt and ended up moving back home."

Reece's goofy expression slowly faded into a glum one as he spoke. "And one day, it just hit me. I was doing carpentry for my dad, working on this kitchen table for the neighbors, and it hit me that I was just going to waste my entire life there. So I left in the middle of the night and drove 'til I ran out of gas. That's how I ended up here. I was lucky that I had my passport in my glove compartment, because if I didn't...I'd probably be back where I started. That's my story. It's really sad, and really long, and I don't want you to pity me, or anything, but since you asked..." He trailed off, slowly starting to mumble as he spoke.

Blair Rosewood

B
lair felt a wave of relief as Soren agreed to let him escort him back into town safely. He had been careful not to seem too pushy; he understood that most people wouldn’t be eager to climb into a car with a stranger, even if that stranger happened to be a police officer. But knowing that he could personally ensure Soren made it to his destination in one piece was the best-case scenario in his mind.

Stepping back to give Soren space as he exited the car, Blair nodded quickly in response to the man’s question. He was grateful for the handshake, returning it firmly before speaking.
"Of course we can take your bags. If you'd like, I can help with your things?"
Blair shifted his weight slightly, turning towards the back of the car but pausing, giving Soren the option to decline if he wasn’t comfortable with a stranger handling his belongings. When Soren gave the go-ahead, Blair moved to the back seat to retrieve the tote bag clearly visible inside.

Just as Blair was about to ask if there was anything else in the trunk, he heard the trunk pop open on its own. Walking around to the back, he saw a neatly packed suitcase and a duffle bag. He grabbed the suitcase with ease and stepped back, leaving the duffle bag for Soren to retrieve himself.

Feeling satisfied, Blair made his way back to his own police cruiser, walking the short distance from Soren's car with the suitcase in hand. He popped open the trunk of his own vehicle and placed the suitcase inside.
"I’ve got a lot of stuff in the trunk, so I can only fit the suitcase, but there's more than enough room for the tote and duffle in the back seat,"
he explained, placing the rest of the luggage in the back.
"You can sit back there if you'd prefer. The front seat’s an option too, though—some people get motion sickness in the back."
Blair walked around the car to the driver’s seat, unlocking both doors as he did, giving Soren the chance to pick where he felt most comfortable.

As Soren chose the backseat, settling in next to his luggage, Blair slid into the driver’s seat, buckling up before glancing in the rearview mirror to make sure Soren had done the same. Once Soren was settled, Blair started the car and pulled away, leaving the stranded rental behind them in the snowy roadside.

Though Blair wasn’t exactly the most talkative person, he made an effort to be welcoming, especially to newcomers. He wanted their little town to leave a good impression after all. His eyes stayed focused on the road as he called back to Soren, his tone casual and curious.
"You come out here for the holidays to meet up with friends or family? Or are you just the traveling type and our little piece of paradise here caught your eye?"
His voice held a warmth and openness, hoping to make Soren feel at ease on the journey ahead.

AUTUMN BLOOM
Autumn loved how busy her shop became around Christmas time. People came to her shop to buy gifts for friends and family, try out new products, learn more about the properties of her product. It was all so fun for Autumn. While she loved being alone on the road, travelling with just her and her thoughts, coming home to her shop and interacting with her customers had to be her favorite thing to do.

"Yes ma'am, amethyst is great for it's emotional properties! It balances the mind, calms the body, and is best for helping you make a decision." She explained to a middle aged woman looking to buy her daughter a gift. Holding the delicate necklace in her hand, the woman turned it over, admiring the purple sparkle, "well my daughter needs help with that last one for sure, I'll take it!" The sale wrapped up quickly, Autumn carefully boxing up the necklace with some bubble wrap and cute wrapping paper for the woman.

As she led the woman out of the shop, ready to close it for her break she spotted a familiar face in the window, "Manuel! Why didn't you just come in?" She asked but noticed bear and immediately squealed, "Aw! Who's my best friend!" She cooed and immediately knelt to pet the pup, giggling at it's tail wagging, "Come on in, we can have whatever goodies you brought in the back and Bear can try out the new dog bed I may or may not have got him." She giggled with a wink and opened the door for Manuel. Making sure the exciteable dog doesn't break any merchandise, the three safely made it to the back of the store where her apartment for winter resided, away from customers and employees.

The little space wasn't the most for the three, but if Manuel sat at the table, Bear on the dog bed, and Autumn on her bed, they could snack on the goodies just fine, "so what brings you out on this cold winter day?" She asked, though she had a feeling she knew the answer to her question.

;; Sidney
Sidney watched the woman crawled around picking up various trinkets and toys. Observing the collection of items she was gathering made him think she was around kids a lot, or had kids of her own. She looked rather young to him so he assumed she either had young family members or was in the educational field. Or maybe she was just a woman who really liked toys.

An entertained smirk danced across his face as he listened to her musings about being a klutz. She was so lovely, he wanted to argue she wasn't, but the little time he'd spent with her had given him no proof against her statements.

"That's life I guess. So much happens, you can't really focus, and then it all goes away." He shrugged and averted his gaze, looking out to the street. A pang of regret hit his chest, he felt a little bad about passing his cynical ramblings on to this young woman. Even though for him, this was a rather mild pessimistic statement, he felt like a bit of an asshole saying anything negative around this ball of sunshine.

Sidney hesitated a second before taking her hand. "Thanks. Hopefully you can stand your ground better than I did," he joked as he stood up, mainly supporting his own weight but keeping a soft hold on her hand in case he needed the support. Once he was upright he gave a soft laugh. "Well look at that. Second times the charm I guess."

    Warm, amused, content.

Manuel observed with a sense of wonder as Autumn engaged in a lively conversation with a customer, her easy-going nature radiating warmth and charm.
He found himself momentarily entranced, blinking slowly as he took in the scene, until she finally caught sight of him and beckoned him over, leading the woman out of the store with a goodbye wave.

A light chuckle escaped Manuel's lips as he rubbed the back of his neck, playfully remarking, "Ah, I've got this big monster with me... he would’ve caused quite the ruckus." He gestured toward his dog, Bear, who stood by his side, reaching to get to Autumn.. a small smile creeping across Manuels face.
Watching as.. Autumn knelt down to shower Bear with affection, and Manuel's heart swelled with joy.. there was nothing he cherished more than seeing others treat his dog with such warmth..

"Yeah, he was itching to see you... like he’s got some sort of crush," he teased, a playful glint in his eye as Autumn invited him inside.

As he stepped into the cozy confines of her shop, keeping Bear close to prevent any mischief, Manuel raised an eyebrow at Autumn's words. "You hear that, bud? She's spoiling you... once again... unbelievable," he quipped, narrowing his eyes at Autumn with a hint of sarcasm before giving her a light nudge, his smile revealing the genuine gratitude he felt.

Following her to the back of the shop, where her personal space was nestled, he glanced around, noting how each visit made the room feel cozier, despite its tight quarters.
His gaze fell upon the bed Autumn had purchased for Bear, and he shook his head, a mix of amusement and appreciation in his voice... "You really didn’t have to, Autumn," he said, unhooking Bear's leash and watching as the dog eagerly sniffed the bed before plopping down with a satisfied thud, eliciting a chuckle from Manuel.

He side-glanced at Autumn, his brows raised in playful disbelief. "Is it not obvious?" he mused, though a part of him had come just to see her. "Bear wanted to see you," he offered, a simple excuse that felt just right, his eyes lingering on Bear as he avoided looking directly at Autumn... "Like I said... he’s got a bit of a crush on you," he added, affectionately ruffling the fur on Bear's head, a smile still dancing on his lips...

Manuel's voice took on a gentler cadence as he spoke, his eyes flickering toward Autumn for a fleeting moment, the warmth of his gaze lingering.

It was as if the sentiments he shared about Bear were a veiled reflection of his own unspoken emotions, a truth he yearned to reveal yet remained shrouded in ambiguity.
With a casual sweep of his hand through his tousled hair, he settled into the chair next to the small table, his focus now comfortably anchored on Autumn, averting the subject.. "..How's the shop going?" he inquired, a playful smirk dancing on his lips as he noted the bustling activity he studied earlier.

"I noticed quite the number of customers milling about." His interest piqued, he leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees, his tone taking on a more intimate quality. "You’ll have to suggest something for me.. been wanting to buy something from you, but I can’t quite make up my mind." A charming smile graced his face, his voice dipping into a sultry timbre before he quickly masked it with his usual demeanor.

Reaching over, he retrieved the steaming cup of hot chocolate and the pastries he had thoughtfully picked up for her, presenting them with a flourish. "I figured you could use this.. it’s chilly outside, pumpkin spice too.. just the way you like it," he said, his smile widening as he observed Bear, eyeing the pastries with an eager gaze. "I'd.. watch out for him though.." he teased, a light chuckle escaping his lips as he playfully narrowed his eyes at the dog.

now playing: are you bored yet? - wallows feat. clairo

Seven o'clock wasn't too far away. So, after Mikey bid his buddies goodbye, he zoomed out the bakery door and headed straight for home. He had to go rummage through his room to find the goodies he had expertly hidden from his parents. They wouldn't be thrilled if they learned that Mikey participated in some not-so-morally friendly activities. The Hardings believed in a dry household, after all - or rather, Samuel and Laura did. Mikey liked a good cocktail now and then. He wasn't sure if his baby sister drank, but if Molly was under as much pressure as he was, then it wouldn't surprise him one bit. God, he needed to move out. But free rent was too good to pass up. He'd take all of the trivial bullshit that came with being a Harding child over having to pay rent any day of the week.

Going in through the front door would surely come with having to talk to his parents. Mikey didn't want to have to do that. So the back door it was. He flew under the radar as he climbed the stairs to his second-floor room. It used to be Marley's before she moved out - guess she was even better than being too good for the rest of them. Oh well.

He quietly shut the door behind him to avoid drawing any unwanted attention from his mom and dad, then walked over to where he had hidden his secret treats. Mikey then carefully placed them in a backpack and zipped it shut. With that solved, he sank down onto his twin bed, sliding off his jacket and shoes. It was definitely an uncomfortable sleep with his feet hanging over the edge, but he wasn't trying to cause any trouble by buying a new one. Dysfunctional did not even begin to explain the dynamics in this household. But he didn't want to think about that right now - and at the same time he picked up his phone, it chimed with a new notification.

Hey Mikey, what do you think about dressing up and matching for tonight? We could pull off something cute like Santa outfits? Or Snowmen!

It was Hollis. His face, much like the lighted screen before him, immediately lit up. Mikey typed back a "Hell yeah" before he got up and made his way over to his closet. He pulled back clothes hangers, looking to see if he had anything festive to wear. He didn't have any Santa outfit, or snowman-themed apparel, but what he did have was a Grinch onesie. With a few more texts, they both agreed on wearing them out. So on it went over his striped shirt and sweatpants, and with the clock striking seven, he was on his way back to meeting his friends, backpack slung over his shoulders. Thankfully, he had avoided his parents, though Molly had just gotten in and had unfortunately been caught up in conversation with them. Hopefully, she'd be okay.

It wasn't long before he was back at the bakery, immediately getting the bottle of cinnamon-flavored whiskey out of the backpack and holding it up to his friends. "Party's here!"

He honestly didn't seem a bad boy by any means, especially the line about being sweeter than peanut butter. The line itself made her break into a small smile but the cheesy grin made her smile wider and giggle a little bit.

He was definitely the complete opposite of the men she usually went for.
"No allergy here, so don't you worry."
She joked.

But then his joking turned to seriousness and he was telling her, honestly, part of his story. Which was quite refreshing. Once he finished, she shook her head a little,
"Not sad. It's real. Raw."
She shrugged a little. She wasn't about to spill her guts over snowglobes but she appreciated that he had. Maybe in time he would get some of her background after her.

"Well, it's nice to meet you then, Reece's Pieces. I'm Dallas."
She put the snowglobe down that she had been holding and stuck her hand out so she could shake his hand.

"Personally, I'm glad I knocked into you."
She said simply.

Bryson
The meal had finally arrived, and Bryson expressed his gratitude to the server as he took hold of the burger nestled in front of him.
As he bit into the cheeseburger, his eyes opened wide with delight.. it tasted good, much better than the foods he had come along on his long road-trips, devoid of this.. home-made taste.
He couldn’t help but steal a glance at Darcy and Kennedy, who were engrossed in their discussion, the hum of their voices ringing in his ears...
Despite the blooming curiosity about Asher that tugged at his thoughts, he turned his attention away, choosing a spot on the wall to focus on instead of appearing nosy.. the last thing he wanted to be in this fresh atmosphere was that.

As he chewed, he caught bits of conversation, his attention snapping back to Kennedy as she mentioned a party... A quizzical brow shot up in surprise; he had no idea this event was in the works...Perhaps he'd missed it while distracted or perhaps it had slipped past him entirely...whether through inattentiveness or some assumption that he was included.
The uncertainty made him tuck the question inside, hesitant to inquire and risk seeming out of place...

Bryson's gaze flickered back to Darcy as she animatedly recounted her plans to take her children sledding, a wave of nostalgia washing over him...
Memories of his own childhood surfaced, where such winter escapades were a staple, even if he had no group of friends to do these things with.. His father had always made ann effort to engage in these activities, creating cherished moments that Bryson now held dear as an adult reflecting on his past.
The warmth of those recollections brought a bittersweet smile to his lips..

Unsure whether to interject, Bryson chose to remain silent, focusing on his meal. He felt like an outsider, the newcomer in a tight-knit group, but it wasn't a bad feeling, he was just happy to be there, to be involved in a dinner with these people in the first place.

He was acutely aware of his messy tendencies while eating, yet amidst the presence of these new acquaintances, he made a conscious effort to wipe his mouth with a napkin from time to time.

    tired & anxious.

How in the hell did he end up back in Revelstoke? Just a few years ago he never thought he would be back. To say Oliver has had a tough upbringing, would be an understatement. In sum, he was raised in a very tough family with very high expectations that Oliver just never felt he could meet. Unfortunately there were a lot of consequences he faced. Many times for things that were not his fault or just out of his control. As he hit the tenth grade he decided to lean into it. If they wanted to make him feel like he was this troublemaker, then that’s just what he would be. He spent most of his weekends out partying and getting wasted, among other things. Though very few people knew there were challenges behind that persona he played. Still, he would always keep in contact with his little sister. Sarah had just turned thirteen and practically begged him to come home for Christmas. Who was he to say no? Considering his contract was up, he decided to come much sooner.

After graduation he decided that he needed to change otherwise he’d just continue to drown in his sorrows. He jumped town to town across the country mainly in areas where he could find some sort of work. Typically as a barista. There were even a few that allowed him to showcase his art! Oliver still remains in contact with the cafe owners, just forever grateful for that opportunity. One day he would make it as an artist. As he continued to stare at the ceiling, the more anxiety begin to swirl in his stomach. He wished he had left a better impression before he left town. Still, there was always time to leave a new one.

“Okay Oliver, you need to leave this room before you go insane and never leave,”
The blonde muttered to himself before grabbing his coat. The Festival of Lights was was calling him. Despite being the town he once felt he was suffocating in, another part of him missed it dearly. The difference now was he was better equipped to handle the emotions and problems that would come back to the surface. Oliver quickly grabbed his gloves before he was out the door and making his way to the Festival. A little late, but hey, better late and never, right? Maybe he would find himself some sort of adventure instead of hibernating in the lodge room he rented. A bit of relaxation was needed— Especially after a day full of travelling.

Busy, busy, busy. That's what Elodie was during the holiday season. The influx of tourists meant a higher demand for entertainment, so in December she had more live music gigs than any other month. And, when Christmas and New Years came around, people always seemed to want music lessons- so they could play out a little tune on guitar or piano or sing a carol to impress their families and friends.

And then there were all the social events. Really, she wasn't obligated to go to anything, she could just stay at home and rest after a full day of music lessons. But, Elodie really enjoyed being out and about. All the parties and get togethers that had popped up around the down brought joy to her heart, so she tried to go to as many as possible.

This Revelstoke Lodge penthouse party was no different. It was a bit more chaotic than a wholesome holiday gathering, but Elodie didn't mind that. Although she wasn't one to contribute to the chaos, she enjoyed observing it all and socializing with both those she'd known for a long time and new people.

She spent a while embracing the lively environment, chatting in a friendly manner with everyone she came across. As the party ramped up though, she felt herself grow a bit tired of her high energy level. So, she slowly retreated to the outskirts of the party to chill out a bit and just observe everyone. Elodie really enjoyed standing to the side and people watching just as much as her socialization. She grabbed a drink from a nearby table and gently bopped her head to the music that was playing, scanning the room for any interesting activity.

;; Casper
When the woman brought up her recently deceased horse, a spark flickered in Casper's eyes. The look wasn't quite one of sympathy though. A hard to decipher cross between amusement and frustration flashed through his expression. About a dozen different dead horse jokes ran through Casper's mind. Most of them referencing glue in some way. He felt no guilt in thinking up these god awful jokes. They were hilarious, why should he feel guilty over some random girl's dead horse?

But, her sad tone of voice and look on her face made him bite his tongue. If she'd done anything to rub him the wrong way, he wouldn't hold back in the slightest. He could be quite cruel when he wanted to be. He was his father's son, as much as he wanted to deny it. But this girl didn't do anything to deserve his vile jokes about something that was clearly very dear to her.

Instead, he settled for a look of displeasure and a slight eye roll. Was he going to make light of her loss? No. Did he give a shit about this horse that was now six feet under? Also, no. And he wanted her to know it. He knew it was rather unpleasant of him not to show any trace of sympathy, and that was the point. He liked to make sure all his worst traits were on full display from his very first interactions with people. To either scare them off- or draw out any weirdos that would be into his apathetic, vulgar, bitter shtick.

Another eye roll came when she talked about the "raw emotion" of her poetry. His displeasure subsided slightly when she took her notebook back, a maneuver that he could respect. But, he still found himself peeved by her sincere nature. Casper hated dealing with emotions. His or other people's. Either way, they were annoying and he didn't want to hear about them. He went to therapy once and the therapist said he couldn't help him if he refused to talk about his feelings. So, he never set foot in a therapist's office again.

"Raw emotions, huh? I can think of something else that's pretty fun raw. Oh, and double whammy, it's a good way to let out emotion. Without any of that sappy bullshit. Listen, if you want another distraction from that horse of yours, I can give you a ride you won't forget," Casper added an exaggerated wink at the end. He was partially serious, if she did want to sleep with him he wasn't about to say no. But mostly, he was joking, a teasing twinge to his voice. He wasn't expecting anything from this woman, especially after giving her a line like that.

Ivy Hayes

The Influencer

Ivy let out a soft chuckle at her best friend, a warm smile lighting up her face as she took another sip of her steaming hot cocoa. The rich, chocolatey aroma filled the air, offering a comforting contrast to the cool breeze that rustled through the trees.
"Is this number still in use? it's Oliver,"
she mused at her question, her tone playful yet tinged with a hint of nostalgia. She paused for a moment, tucking a loose strand of her brown hair behind her ear, a gesture that had become second nature to her in moments of contemplation.

"And he definitely regrets how he handled things,"
she added, her voice dropping slightly as she reflected on the past. As the words left her lips, she glanced down at the ground, her eyes momentarily clouded with the weight of memories. However, she quickly shook off the melancholy, lifting her head to reveal a bright smile once more, determined to let go of any lingering hurt.

As they continued their stroll, Ivy animatedly shared stories about her life—the ups and downs, the little joys and the unexpected challenges. Her excitement was palpable, and she reveled in the comfort of her best friend's company, grateful for the chance to vent and share her experiences. The conversation flowed easily between them, filled with laughter and camaraderie, until suddenly, Ivy halted in her tracks, her heart racing as a whirlwind of thoughts spun through her mind.

Confusion washed over her, and her brow furrowed as she tried to process what she was seeing. The only word that managed to escape her lips, almost unintentionally, was
"Oliver?"
The shock and intensity of her voice echoed in the air, surprising even her. She hadn’t meant to sound so loud, nor to convey the sudden jolt of emotion that surged through her at the sight of him.

As he walked by, memories flooded back, and her heart seemed to skip a beat. Instinctively, her hand tightened around Naomi's wrist, as if anchoring herself to reality. It felt surreal, like seeing a ghost from her past come to life. The mixture of emotions—excitement, confusion, and a hint of trepidation—left her momentarily speechless, standing frozen in place as she grappled with the unexpected encounter.

Ozelia Mae Bonet

O
zelia chuckled softly and gave his hand a gentle squeeze as he began to stand up, her eyes sparkling with infectious enthusiasm.
"I get what you mean, but I think you're missing the magic! Sure, things come and go, but isn’t that what makes life exciting? Yeah, sometimes we miss out or things pass us by, but it’s like the universe setting us up for the next big thing! Life’s kind of like a dance, you know? We might stumble, spin a little too fast, or step on toes—but in the end, it’s the dance moves that make it all worth it. And hey, who knows? Maybe the best part of life is what's coming next!"

As she spoke, she helped him to his feet, her hands firmly holding onto his as she gave a gentle pull. She noticed he wasn’t really relying on her much to help him up, but she offered the support anyway. Her fingers lingered in his for a moment longer than needed, savoring the warmth and strength of his hands—bigger than hers, and weathered from what she assumed must be hard work.

For a second, she lost herself in the moment, just standing there with him. But then it hit her—this is weird, isn’t it? She let out a nervous laugh, suddenly aware of how long she’d been holding onto him and staring. Quickly, she dropped his hands, clasping her own behind her back as if to 'put them in timeout'.

"Heh, uh, not that you asked, but... I feel like it’s only polite to give my name if I’ve been talking to someone for longer than a minute! So, uh, I’m Ozelia Mae—most people call me Oz, though... You can call me Oz."

She flashed him a sheepish smile, tilting her head to the side as she let her gaze wander back up to his, hoping he wouldn’t think she was acting too strange.

Belle gazed softly at her best friend as she savored her sandwich, a warm smile spreading across her face. Her eyes brightened at the mention of a party, a spark of enthusiasm igniting within her.
"Sure!"
she exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.
"I could definitely use a party... and maybe a drink or two."
She shivered slightly at the thought, as if trying to shake off the lingering memory of an uncomfortable encounter that had clearly left her unsettled. Rolling her eyes at the very idea of it, she finished her food, carefully wiping her mouth with a napkin.

As she settled back into her seat, Belle patiently waited for Wren to finish her own meal. The atmosphere was cozy, warm, and familiar, a perfect backdrop for their easy conversation. Once Wren was done, Belle spoke up again, her tone shifting to something more heartfelt.
"I need to visit Grandma tomorrow. I really miss that woman’s love,"
she said, her voice imbued with genuine affection.

Wren's family had always been a source of comfort and stability for Belle, the ones who offered her protection and understanding when she needed it most. They were a stark contrast to her own family, and she cherished the bond she had with the Cross family more than she could articulate. It was evident in the way she spoke about them, the warmth in her voice reflecting just how much they meant to her. In her heart, Belle knew that the love and support she found in Wren's family filled a void that she often struggled to understand when it came to her own.

Kennedy nodded enthusiastically at Darcy, her eyes lighting up with excitement as she absorbed his words. "Okay! But if you decide to come, just know that Bryson and I will definitely be at the party," she said, her tone playful and inviting. The thought of the gathering made her heart race, and she could hardly contain her enthusiasm. She flashed him a small, warm smile, a gesture that conveyed just how much she hoped he would join them.

"That sounds like so much fun... but honestly, I really want to get drunk," she added with a lighthearted chuckle, her laughter bubbling up effortlessly. The prospect of letting loose with friends, dancing, and enjoying the night ahead filled her with a sense of anticipation.

As she spoke, Kennedy’s gaze drifted down to the delicious food laid out in front of her on the booth table. The aroma wafting from her plate was simply irresistible, and she took a moment to appreciate the vibrant colors and enticing presentation of her meal. With a sense of eager anticipation, she took a hearty bite, savoring the explosion of flavors that danced across her taste buds. Each mouthful was a delightful combination of textures and tastes, and she couldn't help but smile wider as her hunger was satisfied.

Overcome with joy, she leaned back against the plush booth, her excitement bubbling over as she did a little happy dance in her seat. She swayed side to side, her movements playful and carefree, as if the cozy booth had become her own little stage. Her eyes sparkled with delight, and the sheer happiness radiating from her made it clear that this was more than just a meal; it was a reminder of the good times shared with friends, the laughter that filled the air, and the promise of fun yet to come.

With each bite, Kennedy felt a renewed sense of energy, and she glanced up at Darcy, her expression full of warmth. "You should really consider coming," she said, still buzzing with excitement. "It wouldn’t be the same without you there!" The thought of dancing, laughing, and just enjoying life together filled her with even more joy, and she looked forward to making unforgettable memories that night.

Cora glared at him, her patience for his antics wearing thin. The way he sat there, casually tossing eye rolls her way, only fueled her irritation. She tried to dismiss his obvious lack of concern, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. His cavalier attitude and the dismissive smirk on his face grated on her nerves, but it was his inappropriate comment that finally pushed her over the edge.

Taking a deep breath, she planted her feet firmly on the ground, grounding herself in the moment. Letting out an exasperated sigh that echoed through the quiet lodge, she turned to him, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.
"I'm not even close to your league,"
she stated, her tone sharper than she intended.
"And just to be clear, I have no interest in a random hookup- especially not with someone like you."

Her accent slipped out more prominently than she wished, a reminder of her roots that betrayed her simmering frustration. The country twang in her voice was something she often tried to downplay, but in this moment, it felt like a badge of honor, marking her as someone who wouldn’t tolerate disrespect.

As she scanned the lodge, searching for anyone or anything that could provide an escape from this increasingly uncomfortable encounter, her mind raced with questions. Who is this guy, anyway? she wondered, her curiosity mingling with disbelief. And of all the people here, why did it have to be me?

She caught a glimpse of his cocky demeanor; he leaned back in his chair with an air of arrogance, a smirk still plastered on his face as if he couldn’t fathom why she wouldn’t be interested in him. His confidence was infuriating, only serving to heighten her frustration. It was as if he believed that charm alone could win her over, completely oblivious to the fact that his bravado was doing the opposite.

She didn’t know him, nor did she care to at this moment. They hadn’t exchanged names, a detail she was thankful for given his earlier remarks. The thought of having to remember his name, let alone engage further with him, felt like a burden she was unwilling to bear. All she wanted was to escape this mildly unfortunate interaction and reclaim her evening, leaving behind the remnants of this awkward exchange.
