Fandom My Little Pony Frontier

Crimson eyes caught sight of the hooded figure standing near the mayor. At least it seemed cloaks weren't overly uncommon. Maybe she could get away with keeping hers on for the time being. Far less questions that way. Though watching the cloaked figure, she could have sworn she saw something on her shimmer slightly. Were her eyes playing tricks on her?

Indicus shook his head and chuckled, "Yea sure, you can hover next to me and put a leg on my back and I can warn guide you that way. Sound good Steelheart?"

Mayor Catchpenny smiled warmly and patted the poor mare's head assuring " None sense my filly, It's already dark and who knows what beasties are out there."

As Firecracker walked closer he could tell this wasn't the prince at all, but rather a new pony.

He also found it odd how the mayor was all of a sudden acting like a kindly old grandfather.

Mayor Catchpenny ignored him as he added "Besides, the poor dear is blind, and really needs a friend to help her feel safe after dark."

Firecracker cocked his head in confusion at her bow before remembering something he read in an old fireworks manual.

"Oh wow! your must be" he blurted before remembering his manors and bowing as well.

Finally noticing him, Mayor Catchpenny exclaimed " Ah and this is Firecracker, he's one of our...entertainment pony."

Firecracker took offence replying- "Hey, I'm an expert pyro-technician. You make me sound like I'm some circus pony"

Well at the very least a blind roommate wouldn't be startled by her appearance. Perhaps it was best that she took some time to rest. She gave a shy nod to the Mayor in agreement. "I wirr herp her as best I cahn." She replied managing a shy smile.

Those fuchsia eyes gave a few curious blinks noticing Firecracker returning the bow, something she wasn't use to seeing in these lands. For a moment she allowed her head to lift enough that her face could be seen beneath her hood to get a better view of him, before seeming to remember she wanted to hide her scaly face and letting it fall again.

Listening to the two banter Shina couldn't help but give a faint giggle, which sounded more like the chiming of distant bells upon the wind. "A nobre art. I am sure you give a rovery dispray."

(If you have trouble reading that just replace the 'r's with 'l's. There is no 'l' sound in the Japanese language. x.x)

Firecracker flashed a confidant smile before agreeing " You see, a noble art. Finally some pony gets it. I am an artist, not an..entertainer"

Waving his hoof in dismissal Mayor Catchpenny yielded " Yes yes, if you say so. After all the princess did say you were-" And with a sarcastic smirk he finished "Eccentric"

"Why you!" he replied but was cut off by the sound of an even closer boat horn.

Mayor Catchpenny laughing to himself instructed " Oh my, could you wait here while I see to the ship. Steelheart should be along shortly, and I'll show you both home.

He then walked off before anyone could react.

After he was out of earshot Firecracker let out a heavy sigh and remarked under his breath " That pompous parasprite.."

He then looked back at Shina and smiled.

Trying to sneak a peek at her eyes again he commented- " Now if I was a betting pony, I'd say you weren't from around here.. I won't pry as to why you would come to this back water town, but ..could I ask your name?"

Fang continued to observe the mayor and rather brightly colored pony bicker for a moment. Finally the older pony continued towards the docks. Shaking her head, she turned away from the town towards the wilderness. Her wings ached for a flight and she didn't feel like drawing more attention to herself.

Trotting until she decided she was far enough, the bat pony discarded her cloak once again. Sighing she stretched her stiff muscles before taking off. The cool air felt good combing through her mane. The thin membrane of her wings was nearly transparent in the light of the moon. Flying in the peace of the night. Fang couldn't think of many things more relaxing. Truly she considered herself a child of the night.

A faint smile hung on her lips as the two went back and forth, keeping her own opinion to her self for the moment. She had heard somewhere that all great artist were a little eccentric. But then again she'd heard a lot of things in her travels. When the Mayor left it was almost a relief to the shy kirin, less eyes upon her. Noticing Firecracker trying to peer at her eyes however, she suddenly felt self conscious again. Perhaps it was no big deal though, he certainly seemed nice, but then so did a lot ponies before they saw how different she was.

"Hai, my quest has taken me across many rands." She confirmed his suspicious. "I am Shina of Neighppon." She replied, only just now realizing she'd given no one her name here yet, causing the scales on her cheeks to flush in embarrassment. "It is ahn honor to meet you." She said with another bow of her head.

Indicus and Steelheart finally arrived at the docks where Indicus found the mayor was located. Indicus quickly recognized the new arrivals and took a more professional stance then what he showed around Steelheart. Nodding to the both of them he formerly introduced himself, "I see that you two arrived a little after most of us. Anyways welcome, my name's Indicus and I'm the town's guard and head of guard when we do get more hopefully later on in the week or month." Despite the nice friendly introductory tone any experienced guard or military could tell that it was just a front put up to be polite.

Firecracker again returned the bow before commenting " Neighppon eh? I would have pegged you from Brayjing. But I guess that's why I don't gamble"

He laughed slightly at the stupidity of his joke, and took a step back.

he lowered his head slightly before apologizing- "Anyway, I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable I don't exactly have the best etiquette.."

The poor cult was so awkward around mares he decided he'd try and empress her announcing " Tell you what, we've got some time before ol grumpy hooves comes back. I'll make it up to you by showing you a trick. I am after all an.. 'entertainment pony' "

Taking a deep breath he used some minor magic to light the tip of his horn like a sparkler.

in the increasing darkness his every movement left faint after image of the light.

He swayed it back and forth until a faint image of a crudely drawn lotus could be seen.

Trying to catch his breath he let out a tired " Ta..Tadaa!"

As they approached, Steelheart could feel a wonderful magic swirling about.

She couldn't see the sparks, but she could sense the movements.

She beamed at the happy feelings it invoked and almost felt sad when it was over.

As Indicus spoke in a proper manor she knew it was time to act her part.

She straightened up and looked in the direction she thought the pony were in, announcing " I'm native ambassador, and communications expert Steelheart.

pleased to meet you."

Unfortunately she was talking in the direction of thin air.

Shina seemed to finally be relaxing a bit, allowing her head to lift and return a smile. "Neighppon is just off the coast of Brayjing." She replied sweetly, taking no offense from it. Before she could stop him from apologizing however, Firecracker began his performance.

See two other ponies approach Shina have a polite bow of her head. One appeared to be the flutterpony the mayor spoke of. Not wanting to interrupt Firecracker's performance she chose to wait till he was done before speaking to them.

Shina's fuchsia eyes lit up watching the images of light he drew through the air. The light reflecting off the pearly scales beneath her hood. Much to polite to comment on his drawing abilities Shina gave a bright smile and clopped hey fore hooves against the ground.

As she did so however, the sudden movement bounced her hood back off her head. Realizing what's happened she gave a small gasp those fuchsia eyes widening with fear of his he might react to her assistance. Shina had never been a self conscious mare, but had learned from experience that she was shockingly different from the ponies in this region. Shying back Shina tilted hey head to try and hide her face in her fire red mane, her mane and trail the only actual fur on her scaled body.

Breathing heavily from fatigue, Firecracker never heard the others coming until they announced themselves.

But it was in this moment that Shina's hood fell back.

Firecracker's eyes grew wide at the sight he had never seen before.

He was shocked to say the least, but also smitten at the beauty of her colors.

Letting out a dopey " Wow" with an equally corny grin was all he could muster in reaction.

He took a few slow steps forward before bumping into Steelheart who wondered into him trying to find the pony they were talking to.

Letting out a soft "oof" she apologized to the wrong pony- "Sorry Mayor Catchpenny."

The mayor being still roughly fifty meters awa inspecting the goods coming off the ship.

The pearly scales on Shina's cheeks flushed a soft pink color to hear Firecracker's reaction. It was certainly not the sort of reaction she was use to. For a second her fuchsia eyes glanced to the other two ponies to see their reaction, well the bat pony's at least, the flutterpony probably wouldn't care what anyone looked like.

The little kirin gave a light hearted giggle as the blind pony apologized. "I believe her is at the dock. That is Firecracker." Shina was feeling much more relaxed now, hopefully all ponies here were so kind.

All Firecracker could do was laugh at the situation as he helped Steelheart get turned around the right way.

"Oh oh my, sorry." Steelheart again apologized as she dusted herself off.

"Firecracker huh.. I remember the mayor saying something about you.. something like you were a famous show pony in the Cantorlot area"

Firecracker lowered his head in embarrassment and blushed, saying- " I put on shows. firework displays. Im not some hoppy prancing song and dance pony."

Passing a quick glance at Shina, he remembered the show he just put on and his blush intensified.

rubbing the back of his head he insisted- " Well.. most of the time anyway."

Recomposing himself he looked to Indicus and stated- " At any rate it's nice to meet you two. and if all our guards are as scary as you we should have nothing to worry about."

Steelheart's face turned to a pout as she replied " That's not a very nice thing to say. I'm not scary at all. Queen Rosedust says I'm adorable."

She was clueless to the fact that Firecracker's attention had been changed .

Fang continued gliding through the cool air. Flying had always been a good way of clearing the bat pony's mind. Not to mention it helped her stall having to deal with the high strung pony in charge of the small settlement. Partially folding on of her wings, she made a steep bank before extending it again. Something still bothered her. For a settlement near a supposedly dangerous area, why hadn't she seen any guards? Even in the barracks there really hadn't been any sign of ponies living there. Why was that?

As Mayor Catchpenny finished up the last of his paperwork for the supply ship he looked up into the cool nights sky.

As he scanned across the stars he noticed a large figure sailing along the sky.

Squinting his eyes, he could barely make out what looked like bat pony from before.

"What in the divine sisters is she doing?" He blurted to himself as he tucked away his charter.

" It's not like there is anything or anyone to see out here. " He added as he wondered back in the direction of town.

Meanwhile it was in this cool evening that the full moon shone brightly into a distant cave.

the light danced and glittered against the giant crystals that would dwarf a Clydesdale.

Strange glowing plants illuminated the floor in a pale blue light that seemed almost ghostly.

in was in this faint light that the sounds of a restless sleep could be heard.

Suddenly a large eye crept open and began to focus it's gaze.

Lazily gliding through the cool air, Fang breathed a quiet sigh. It was probably best to return to town, maybe find a place she'd actually be able to stay for the night. The bat pony landed somewhat gracefully on the soft ground. Retrieving her cloak, she pulled it back on and started heading back towards the small town.

Shina simply watched the other ponies interacting for a moment, that light smile lingering on her lips. Those fuchsia eyes lifted to see the Mayor making his way back, and for a second she debated with her self weather or not she should pull her hood back up. Before she could decide however, a faint glow came from the vile that appeared to be a mix of ash and water hanging from her neck. Giving a startled gasp she placed one of her split hooves over the vile closing her eyes that gold antler like horn atop her head glowed as she mentally spoke to the phoenix spirit with in the vile to calm it.

Fortunately the water the ashes were suspended in kept the phoenix from sparking back to life, but it would still make attempts now and then, especially reacting to other forms of strong magic. Once she was confident the phoenix was pacified Shina opened her eyes to glance around, curious as to what sort of magic had caused the beast to stir.

Emerging from the wilderness bordering the settlement, crimson eyes observed Shina's glowing horn and shimmering scales. A Kirin? Fang had the pleasure of meeting a few in her short time as a member of the Order. She never thought she'd meet others that weren't members. Let alone in the middle of nowhere like this. Wonder what brought her out here.

Firecracker stared at the glow, his eyes alight with wonder and delight.

He always had an eye for color and light, and this show of magic amazed him.

Even Steelheart with her blindness could sense the magic, and turned towards it as if to watch.

And yet, Firecracker felt a sense of urgency and worry in her spell.

He tilted his head in concern as he leaned a bit closer to ask " Are you o-.."

just as he was about to finish it seemed the moment passed.

Realizing he was leaned in a little too close, he recoiled almost to the point of falling over.

Meanwhile a low rumble began to fill the distant cave.

A pale blue magic began to poor out from the opening.

It swirled and built until all of a sudden a figure burst from the cave.

The creature was made of pure magic, but seemed to be in the form of a dragon.

As it surged through the sky with great force, it didn't make a sound.

Somehow it cut through the air in complete silence.

As the magic faded from Shina's horn Steelheart's eyes shifted and twitched as if she was detecting something else in the area.

Instinctively she looked up and there it was.

Somehow, silhouetted by the moon she could see the dragon.

The only thing she had ever seen in her life, but she could see it plain as any pony.

At a loss for words she turned pale and almost fainted, only muttering a single word- " Anda"

This drew the attention of most of the other pony.

As it spread it's wings it seemed to fade into the moon, and out of all sight.

Indicus looked at the figure curiously sensing the immense amounts of magic coming off it, but when Steelheart said Anda he was curious. "Anda what do you mean by that the name of the dragon that just passed?"

Steelhearts squinted to focus trying to see the dragon or anything for that matter, but to no avail.

It was then she heard Indicus's voice ask about the dragon.

"What? oh .. Oh my I don't know. The name simply came to mind." She insisted as she slowly began to flutter silently in place.

Firecracker stood dumbfounded in place.

Taking a single step closer to Shina could only muster a dumb quip as he looked to the moon where it was.- " Well this is certainly turning out to be more interesting then Cantorlot "

(Sorry for the wait, haven't had time to sit down at the computer lately. Gunna try this on my phone. x.x)

Shina breathed a small sigh of relief as the phoenix spirit settled. Sensing the magic that had stirred the phoenix hey fuchsia eyes turned skyward as well. She gave a few confused blinks seeing an odd looking dragon. It seemed much girthier then the snake love dragons of her home land and it didn't give her the same sense of peace and order as they did. Hey head tilted to one side as she watched it disappear curiously. "That was odd..." Was all she said before turning her attention back to the others. A faint smile crossed her lips as Firecracker stepped closer that pink color returning to the scales on her cheeks.

Her lips parted for a second as if preparing to say something before seeming to realize she didn't know what to say. Shina was finding her self strangely shy around Firecracker, but seemed to find Steelheart's fainting a continent distraction to avoid stammering through conversation with the colt. "Are you arright?" She asked with gentle concern.

((Hey, no worries . we all have things keeping us busy, even more so in this Winter holiday season. I'm just happy yourback))

Steelheart slowly decended back down before replying with a soft smile " Im fine thank you"

Again she was speaking to the wrong pony, but it was the thought that counts.

Finally Mayor Catchpenny had arrived up the hill, obliviously asking- "What is all this kurfluffle?"

It became apparent that he missed the dragon all together, his face still berried in his paperwork.

Firecrakcer's eyes widened as he realized Shina and the dragon both may be a bit much for the old earth pony.

As Mayor Catchpenny's eyes lifted Firecracker jumped in front to block his view of the Kirin pony.

Lighting up the end of his horn like sparkler he waved it in his face announcing " I was just giving a taste of the opening day festival!"

Sneering and squinting the mayor scoffed- " I should have known it was the riff raff show pony."

With a disapproving "hmph" he cleared his throat and announced- " At any rate, the last boat has left for the evening. Opening day will be in the morning with the first ship of townspony. If You don't want a bad report sent to the Princesses, you better keep your gaudy magic under wraps until then.

He then turned around and assumed an almost sickeningly sweet tone as he ordered "Steelheart, Be a good filly and see your new bunk mate to your estate. Indicus, It's right down the road on the hill overlooking the sea."

Firecracker's face was flush and crinkled with frustration but he held his tongue to keep up the distraction.

As the mayor trotted out of earshot, Firecracker let out a begrudging sigh- "Parasprite" under his breath as his sparkling horn's light faded away.

Fang watched the group from a distance. She wasn't sure if it would be wise to approach them or not. However, one of them did have the features from the magic users of her race. At least I'm not the only nocturnal one on this island. She slowly scanned the shore, still not a single guard in sight. How strange.
