When Kevin and Arthur got to the area, the shifters were already attacking the small group of young wolves. One had Soph pinned to a tree, as the others were scattering the group. There were just a few of them, but the shifters were stronger then the wolves being trained. Arthur growled and so did Kevin as the half shifted and started to help. Kevin helped the other wolves, while Arthur went for the one that was on his mother. It was obvious that he loved her, he was in a rage when he went after the shifter and the surprise caught the shifter off guard and gave Arthur to opening to slash at him. Soph had to pull Arthur off, since he didn't stop after killing it. "Help the others." Soph ordered, snapping Arthur back to himself. He nodded, before he moved to help the other wolves, Soph moved towards Kevin, who had been doing pretty well, before he got another shifter jumping over him. They were over him, when she got to him and she slashed them quickly before helping Kevin to his feet. "Keith." she nodded.

"Luna" he bowed, before she motioned him to go and help more. It took a bit of time, before the shifters were all killed, a wounded shifter started to try and get away but Soph stopped it.

Soph sighed as she looked around, "Okay, so that wasn't going to work." she said, before she checked every wolf, "Back to the Pack, for now." she said, before turning to Arthur and Kevin, "Well, thank you two, even I couldn't handle all those shifters." she teased, wrapping her arms around Arthur. Kevin watched for a moment before she shifted slightly, reaching her arms out to him, "Come here, son." she told him. Kevin wasn't her son, but after his parents were killed in the last war, when he was a pup, she had raised him as her own, as best as she could, without stepping over the line with his brother. After a moment, she pulled away and sighed, "Okay, so let's get back to the Pack, I have a word to get out, to your father." she warned, as she moved passed the too. Arthur and Kevin couldn't help the grin, it wasn't always the best thing for a Luna to challenge her Alpha, like Soph did, but it was a fun sight to see him wield to her.

Johnathan couldn’t help smirking a little as he watched, he knew that look, had seen it with his own mother and father, though his father was not quite like Alpha Garrett seemed to be. He watched as they moved again for Soph to speak with Garrett, wondering what he would see or learn. He knew his focus was the two betas and he’d likely see and hear what they did. He was to learn by watching them in every situation.

When they got to the pack, Julius and Garrett were just coming out and Soph went straight for her husband, she didn't hesitate when she smashed her fist across his cheek, "You couldn't have warned us, the shifters were back."

Garret sighed, spitting a little blood from his mouth, before he looked at Soph, "It was just sighted, we are dealing with it."

Soph glared at him, "You nearly got my group killed." she snapped, stepping closer to him, "This is a war, you protect this pack, but I protect the wolves in it. Stop overshadowing your place and let the Pack hold it's own, or I will broke a tooth next time."

Julius moved between them, "Luna." she bowed respectfully, "I understand what you feel, but my place is where I stand and you will have to go through me."

Soph looked at her, with a smirk, as she stepped back, "I will go through who I need to, to protect the wolves of this pack and you won't stop me." she snapped, before she sighed, moving to pass them both.

Alpha Garrett sighed, as the two boys tried not to laugh, "Go home. Both of you, he commanded." before turning to Julius, he sighed, "Check on Soph."

Julius smirked for teh first time, "You might want to get checked out, yourself. Our Luna has a mean right hook and your face is going to hurt if they don't do something about it."

Alpha Garrett smirked, "I'm sure that is true, I will deal with my face, just calm her down. Unless you don't want me to survive the night."

Johnathan couldn’t help but to laugh at that, glad that they could not hear or see him. It was entertaining to watch, as much as it was to watch his mother and father. Though their dynamic was so different. He returned his attention to Julius and Kevin. It didn’t occur to him that his place was strictly beside his Alpha if it came between the Alpha and Luna, and then beside his Luna too when all other forces were against them.

Julius sighed, "I question that desire sometimes, when it comes between the two of you." she stated with a smirk before she left to follow Soph.

Garrett sighed, glaring to Arthur and Kevin, "What are you two still doing here?"

Arthur and Kevin jumped, "Nothing father, we aren't." he said before rushing off with Kevin beside him, they chuckled when they were a good distance away. "Did you see his face?" Arthur laughed as they walked.

Kevin laughed and smiled, "Completely confused, shocked and I dare say belittled by not just an Elite of his command but his mate and Luna. I dread to think what he would do if he knew we said that."

"Probably show you two exactly how powerful and Alpha truely is." Delia stated as she came from behind them.

Kevin and Arthur sighed, "Yeah, yeah, yeah." Kevin smirked, "Maybe he would, or maybe he would just be embarrassed that such a small thing can tower so high above him."

Delia smirked, "Says the training Beta that can't handle a pair of Elite." she teased.

"I'm still young." he pointed out, "What is his excuse."

"He is in love." Delia snapped, pushing Kevin, "Which if you had any sense, you would understand what that feels like." she growled, before stomping away.

Arthur smirked, "You did it now. How are you going to fix this one?" he teased.

Kevin glanced at him, in a way that said to shut up, "While get over it. My parents were in love to and that got them killed. I'm not falling for the same mistake."

Arthur sighed, frowning a bit, "You know, how she is, we grew up with her. Might be nice if you showed her it wasn't a one side pairing."

Kevin glanced to Arthur, "Art, when you find your mate then I will take your advise on mine."

Arthur smirked, "Okay, that is fair, but when I do find my mate I am going to show her the love she needs and deserves in every way that I can."

Johnathan grinned even more because he knew his father had kept to that promise. He wanted to make that promise too for whenever he found his mate. He focused his attention again to Kevin and Arthur. He felt a secret urge to get along with his brother that well, especially as his beta.

Kevin chuckled, "Well, if you don't, I hope she doesn't kill you. I would hate to have to hurt her for something you deserve."

Arthur smirked, "If she hurts me, and you go Beta on her, I will kill you."

Kevin smirked, "If you can catch me." He punched Arthur's shoulder before he rushed off.

Arthur growled, "Rotten pup." He growled at him before chasing him after him. Running through the pack, Arthur shouted that he would get him, but Kevin managed to get home before Arthur was inches from him. He slammed the down and Arthur stopped skillfully before he was too close to the door.

Kevin was panting, "Maybe next time, kid." He called through the door.

"I'm going to get you at one point Keith. You can't hid from me." Arthur threatened, before he sighed and started his way home.

"Another Chase?" A voice came from the kitchen.

Kevin sighed, "He'll get over it." He assured him, as he moved to help in the kitchen. His older brother was much taller then him and looked a lot more powerful, but he smiled at Kevin.

"I would hope so. Being a Beta in training is dangerous enough. Don't forget, Beta is..."

"Expendable." Kevin completed the sentence annoyed, "Yeah, yeah. I know. I wish people would stop reminding me." He said as he started to take the food to the dining room table.

His brother chuckled, "I just think you shouldn't give yourself any more chances to be killed." He pointed out.

Kevin sat down as his brother came with the rest and smirked at him. Kevin rolled his eyes, "Well, you should have said something, then they would have picked you and no one would ever need to remind you."

His brother frowned, "Keith. I'm not telling you because I don't believe you will survive your training. I'm telling you because this is an important position and as good as I am sure you will be, I'm still your big brother. We are all we have left, I don't want to bury my little brother, beside out parents."

Kevin sighed, nodding, "I know what I agreed to. I will be fine, brother. If anything, you will be beside our parents before me." He tried to tease.

His brother smirked, "Elite don't usually get killed, but I guess that's something we got from our parents. We can't stay away from danger."

Johnathan watched curiously. Reminding himself that he was indeed expendable. He swalllwed hard and tried to focus on the scene before him more than the feeling that thought gave him. Especially as he saw Kevin’s older brother. They looked a lot alike and it was obvious how worried he was for his little brother. Johnathan clenched his jaw a bit and then sighed. He wasn’t sure what he was supposed to be learning at this point, he just felt confused. And yet he knew what he’d known. He was to protect his Alpha at all costs.

Kevin and his brother finish dinner before Kevin paused and looked at his brother, "You know. Even if I wasn't Beta, I would be willing to die for my Alpha. He is my best friend and Arthur has always been really nice even though that gets him in a lot of trouble. So, being expendable isn't an issue. I have more pressing worries."

His older brother raised an eyebrow as he looked at Kevin, "Like what?'

Kevin looked at his brother, "Like beating you." he said standing up, "As Beta I can train with the Elite just like you get to and I can beat them. So, before my training is done, I will be stronger then you and our parents. I'm going to prove that I am not just the youngest that just happened to be best friends with an Alpha Born, but that I am going to be the one that makes sure that this pack always remembers our family."

His older brother smirked, "Yeah, good luck with that one. You still have to survive Beta Training."

Johnathan smirked some, that sounded like such an older brother thing to say. And yet he felt the same as Kevin to an extent. He wanted to get stronger and to prove he was worth being Beta and not just that he is the Alpha’s baby brother. He didn’t mind being expendable if he could help Wade.

A few days later, Julius, Garrett, Arthur and Kevin stood over the map. Julius sighed, "We aren't going to make it through their defense if we can't get passed their guard lining the waterfall." She pointed out.

Garrett sighed, nodding, "I can't send the Elite in there, knowing most of them won't make it out. We need them for the final assault."

Arthur bit his lip, "We could use diggers." He suggested.

Garrett sighed, "They would be able to set up the right pathetic without being noticed."

Julius looked at Garrett, "Stealth then." She pointed out, Garrett looked at her and frowned, almost sadden by the comment.

Kevin looked confused, and so did Arthur, "How would we get through with stealth without the Elite."

Julius shook her head, "We can't. But we can use less Elite. In fact, we can probably weaken their position closest to us, if we use three."

Garrett nodded, "Do you know who you are selecting."

"David, Ferish and Michael." She said, stepping back, "We'll get it done."

Garrett looked at Julius and nodded, before she turned to leave. Kevin looked concerned, "David? Why can't I go?" He asked Julius as she left but she was gone. Arthur frowned, finally realizing what happened, Kevin turned to him and looked confused, "I could do this." He assured him.

Garrett said nothing, he just left, but Arthur lowered his head, "You can't." Arthur stated lowly.

Kevin growled, "I am just as good as he is." He snapped.

Arthur glared at Kevin, "You don't get it. You keep doing that." He snapped, "You listen and you learn everything but you don't learn what you are shown."

Kevin looked at him surprised and then sighed, "I am watching."

"But you aren't learning. Who has to learn to be the best at stealth? The Beta. Why? Because they have to be stronger then a normal wolf without the advantage of being born stronger." Arthur said, before he looked at Kevin, "They aren't going because they are better or stronger, they are going because they are good at stealth and they love this pack as much as the Beta does or at least someone here." He moved to the map and looked it over, "Julius is taking them through the first like, pass the guards and pushing through the line, to take as many shifters as they can, to weaken their position and advance." he then turned to Kevin, "David isn't coming back. None of them are. This is a suicide mission, placing them in the center of the shifters position in order to open a way for us to get in, too. When we go in, we won't be able to find them, we won't be able to help them and if they survive the shifters, there is going to be no way for us to help from killing them. The shifters will know who they are and use them to try and protect themselves, but in the end, if they don't kill them, we will."

Kevin froze for a moment before he stepped back, then he stopped, "I'm not done training."

Arthur sighed, frustrated for a moment before he leaned against the table, arms crossed and looked at Kevin, "Beta's first job is to do their duty, there is nothing more important then that, not even training the next Beta. An Alpha's job it to make sure everyone knows their place. And an Alpha Born is to make sure their Beta stays in line."

"I'm not a child, Arthur, I can handle myself." Kevin growled, in a moment he was pinned to the door behind him by Arthur, his arm over Kevin's chest and he help him there with ease.

"No, you are my Beta and that means that you stay in line or you die. So, take a breath and mourn your brother and teacher, because in hours we will be in a war zone and you just might have to step over them.' he said before pulling back. "You don't know what I do, Keith, you have no idea what war is like, the way I do and if we do this right, neither will our children."

Johnathan watched the pieces clicking together from what he knew and what he knew was coming. He felt his heart rate speed up, a fear spreading over him. Even if he knew some of the history, but to actually watch and see what Kevin did. He tried to take a few deep breaths, he couldn’t even imagine what that would be like now, what it would be like with his brother. And his father was dealing with Shifters yet again. Panic started to creep over him as he watched to keep learning.

Kevin sighed as he started towards the group, Julius had just finished briefing them, before Kevin reached them and they all turned to him. "I'm ready to go." he announced.

Julius swayed her hip to the right and looked at him like he was challenging her, but David was the one that spoke, "Go where?'

"With you." Kevin stated, glaring at David, "I am just as powerful as any of you and I can help."

"David." Julius demanded.

David nodded, slightly turning to her, "I'll catch up." he said before turning to Kevin, he sighed deeply, as the others moved quickly and vanished.

Kevin sighed frustrated, "I can help."

"Yeah, you probably could, but you wouldn't make it back here." David pointed out.

"I am just as strong as you are and I can survive." Kevin protested.

David smirked, "You are just as strong as us, but you aren't stronger then us. Not yet."

Kevin growled, "I can be."

"You will be." David promised and Kevin looked at him surprised. "But this is one mission that I can't promise I will be able to come back from and you aren't going to share that fate with me."

"I can help. You said we are stronger together and we can get through anything. This is it."

"I did, say that. But this is a lot more complicated then that. This is war and sometimes one mistake can get you killed or others."

"I won't make any mistakes, I have trained for this, just as much as you have."

"You have, but you need more training and that is what I am giving you." David smirked at Kevin, "Keith. If we don't go, this pack could be destroyed, you know that, from what you learned."

"More reason to take me with you, I got through once."

"But you barely got back with Luna Sophie and that is not going to happen again." David pointed out before he sighed and looked at Kevin in the eyes. "When you love someone you don't care what happens to yourself and you know that they will make everything better. You are expendable to this pack, but you are not expendable to me. I'm your big brother and you mean everything to me." he smirked, "I know you are going to be the greatest Beta for this pack and you are going to to show them just how amazing you are. But that can only happen if you life passed this war. And you will, I am going to make sure of that. Because if I take out as many shifters before they reach you, I know you will be able to handle the rest and advise Arthur to be the Best Alpha." he patted Kevin's head, as he watched his brother's face pout and get sad, "Don't worry. I am proud of you and I know so are mother and father. My last thought is going to be how proud I am that you are my little brother, because you are going to be the greatest Beta in this pack. You are going to be stronger then I am, stronger then mother or father and when you are, you'll understand why you can't come with me."

"I can help." he protested, almost begging to be allowed to go.

David just smirked, "You will help best here." David sighed and straightened up before stepping back, rustling up Kevin's hair, which he knew Kevin hated. "Just don't forget, little brother. You are the only wolf in this pack that matters to me, the only one that I will die for and when Nature takes my life, just know, it's for you."

"No one wants someone to die for them." Kevin said, fighting back tears."

"Nope. No, they don't. But wolves die for each other all the time. We have never faced something like this before. Wolves will die. But you have to protect the Alpha and the pack from the Alpha if need be, so you are expendable, but don't forget, that is only true when it comes to what is the best way to keep the pack going, otherwise, you are the most incredible wolf this pack has."

Johnathan found he didn’t want to watch anymore, he’d die if he knew he’d lose his brother. Well he supposed he’s have to to prevent his brother from dying at all. He wanted to change what he was watching but he knew he couldn’t and he hated it.

Johnathan found he didn’t want to watch anymore, he’d die if he knew he’d lose his brother. Well he supposed he’s have to to prevent his brother from dying at all. He wanted to change what he was watching but he knew he couldn’t and he hated it.

The seen went dark and he stood face to face with Julius. She looked at him coldly, unimpressed and judgingly for a moment, before she asked, "Did you learn anything? I selected these specific images for you. There was one more, but you seem to have already died."

Johnathan startled at first when Julius was the one to appear before him and he hesitated a moment. “I...I think so...” he started. “I am expendable, my job is to protect the Alpha at all costs, whatever that means so long as it protects the Alpha and helps to keep the pack going and safe.” He said, trying hard not to make it sound like a question.

Julius looked at him, "Rule one is always to protect your Alpha, the pack is his responisblity and he knows what he is doing. As a Beta, you don't speak to the Alpha before your own. When you are Beta, you are expendable, but while you train, you are not, unless you risk the future of this pack. You do as your Alpha says, even if he is not yet Alpha, he is always in command. Or offer advise, counsel and opinions, when asked or when you don't see their way working for the best of the pack, but all decisions are for the Alpha alone. And of course, I added a not Beta lesson, one Kevin learned rather late and one you should learn now. Because when you lose your brother, no matter how much you dislike him, it will hurt you worse with every breath, then if you lost a part of your physical body."

Johnathan swallowed hard, but nodded his understanding. He was completely serious with Julius, he understood completely. No matter what he said or did with his brother he understood. It was learning that was going to be difficult. “I won’t lose my brother. I will die before I let something happen to him.” He assured her first, he could stand that, stand being the one killed for his brother. “I...I do understand. I am learning but I understand my place.” He said quietly.

Julius raised an eyebrow, moving towards him, before she stared him down, "Understanding and doing are very different. You will need to do it." She sighed, before stepping back, "Seems the pup has nearly revived you." She smirked slightly, "I am too. Just like David, I believed her would be. He was a good pupil, listen, learn and watch. A good Beta is not so easy to become, if you don't."

Johnathan felt an odd sensation as Kevin tried to revive him. He had so many questions still. “I will listen to him.” He assured her. And he would do everything he could to actually do what he was told other than understand.

Julius smirked, "We will see, how successful of a Beta you will become. Good luck, pup." she smirked, "And tell your grandfather I was proud to do so." she said before she faded away.

Kevin sighed, as he listened to Johnathan's heart, he pulled back and sat on the ground, with some relief, he was panting and his relax showed signs of his worry. He sighed deeply, "Finally. You were gone too long."

Johnathan smiled a little as he watched her fade, sad to see her go and knowing that he’d never be able to change what happened to her.

When he woke, he looked over to Kevin and then down. His breathing was uneven and his heart racing as though to make up for being stopped too long. “Sorry. I had to speak with Julius.” He said. He chose not to say anything more, not yet. He didn’t want to bring up bad memories and he wasn’t sure the time was right. “So what do we do now?” He asked cautiously. He was terrified.

Kevin sighed as he got to his feet and straightened out, "Now, we have to find your brother. We have work to do, before tomorrow." he commented.

Johnathan nodded, getting to his feet unsteadily. Once he was sure he’d be fine he looked to Kevin again. “Will you help to prepare me however you can? I....I can’t lose him.” He said quietly.
