Futuristic Mental Apocalypse

Isaac nodded. Sheathing one of his swords he raised his hand and counted down. Just as he reached 1 finger still up he pushes Maddy towards the manhole. Knowingly that the others would take her fall of she did fall. He turned around and decapitated one Pycho that got too close before jumping down the manhole himself. *We are not doing this ever again.* He looked at Natalie. She just needed to close the cover.

Amy dropped the cover just in time. They all heard hammering and moaning outside.

"Okay, the lab is about a quarter mile away. If we run we can make it there in no time at all."

She pulled out the syringe and looked at it happily. Then she took off at a steady jog down the slippery, wet, gross sewers.

(Okay let's pretend Oak was running with you and shooting Psychos)

Oak scowled as he looked at the manhole. He checked his revolver. Out of bullets. Luckily, he had brought a crowbar from the garage. He dramatically unsheathed it.

"Let's dance. Half-Life style."

With a violent roar, Oak tore a good part of a Psycho's throat out. Having done that, he jammed the crowbar into another's head. He was about to swing at a third, a Psycho clawed at him. Oak managed to dodge it, but in the process, dropped the crowbar.

"Didn't get the third Psycho," Oak mumbled, "That's ironic."

Before Amy dropped the cover, Oak slipped in. Sewers. Oak wasn't sure if it was cool that he got to imitate old spy movies, or if it was terrible that the part he imitated was the sneaky sewers scene.

Nope. Terrible.

Oak whirled around and called out. "I lost my crowbar and I'm out of ammo. Anyone spare a weapon?"

Madi sighed.

"Sorry. I only have my BB gun. And I'm almost out of magazines from the hardware store. So basically, we're both screwed. Let's hope there aren't any Psycho's down here," Maddy said, rubbing her arms. Considering she was only wearing a tanktop as a shirt, she was cold from the surprisingly chilly sewer. "Come on, let's move. This place creeps me out. And we're kinda losing Amy."

Isaac stared at the cover for a while. He sighed with relief that it held.. For now. He sheathed the other hook blade again. Looking around the sewer was not a place he had been at. He looked at Oak for a while and rummaged in his satchel. After moving a few things he picks out a a dagger or a kitchen knife really, Isaac tapped Oak and handed him the knife. He turned to Maddy and shrugged. He couldn't carry anything els- Isaac stared at her. He sighed removing his scabbard, taking his over coat off and putting it around Maddy he reattached the double scabbard around himself again. Isaac still had his white dress shirt and didn't mind the cold.. At all. He looked at Natalie hopefully she could lead them.

Oak grumbled, "It's a revolver. They don't do magazines."

He looked around and found a gross old broken pipe. It would work, thanks to the bulbed curve on the end and the spiky hilt. He managed to clean it off with his jeans (which smelled like sh*t after) and balanced it in his hand. It would have to do.

Oak looked at Isaac, who was trying to get his attention. He was holding a kitchen knife. Oak smiled and took it. So. Now what? The knife or the pipe?

Grinning, Oak said, "I am going to make soooo many one-liners today." He ran after Amy.

Madi blinked in shock as Isaac placed his coat on her shoulders. She stared at him in surprise, not expecting the gentlemanly gesture. Well, the "gentlemanly" bit wasn't surprisingly, Isaac was pretty fancy, but giving her his jacket? ...Cute.

Madi shook her head. No, the gesture was cute, you did not just think of Isaac as cute! Madi slipped her arms into the sleeves and nodded to Isaac.

"If we live through this, remind me to thank you," Madi said jokingly, smiling slightly. That said, Madi took off in a jog after Oak, glad for the distraction of focusing on her footing.

Amy stopped when she didn't hear the others following. "Guuuuuys! Let's go!!"

She didn't wait for them and kept on running.

All of the sudden, she skidded to a stop. Or more accurately, slipped to a stop. Or into someone's shoes. That works too.

She looked up, dry mouthed. The big man whom she had crashed into glared down at her. He reached down and hauled her up by the scruff of her neck.

"Owowowowowowow!" She complained, grabbing his arm. She tried to pull it away, but to no avail.

He slapped her, sending her head to the side. She winced, and then looked up at his face angrily.

He was a very fit man, ripped with muscles. His red eyes were glaring down at her, and he grabbed her wrists and taped them behind her back.

With her protesting the whole time, he marched her to a side door on the side of a huge building (yes, this was their destination). She began pulling away, and noticed Oak running after her. She shouted "Oak! Help-"

The man punched her in the stomach, sending all the air out of her lungs.

He quietly pulled the heavy door shut behind the two of them, locked it, and cracked his knuckles.

Amy gulped and smiled weakly at him.

Isaac nodded to Maddy and followed suit after the others. His hands always nearing the handles as he listened for any Pychos that would follow them. Isaac looked back another point of no return. Suddenly hearing Natalie's screaming Isaac sprinted past Vicky and Mido. Seeing only a quick movement as a door closed. Isaac tried the door but to no hope. He turned to the others and pointed at the keyhole. *Someone that can pick locks?* He looked around, maybe there were another entrance.

Oak watched as Amy got punched in the gut. He snarled and jumped up into the air, slamming the pipe into the-

Door. The man had shut it on them. But it was too late. Oak cried, "PIPE DOWN!"

The door was locked. Isaac examined it, trying to find a way to open the locks. Oak knew that Isaac wanted someone to pick it, but Oak didn't know how to do it.

"I'm out of one-liners."

Madi noticed Isaac's look and grinned. Thank you Jesus for teaching me lock picking!

"Anyone got a bobby pin and a knife?" Madi asked, crouched in front of the door knob to examine the keyhole.

The man dragged Amy across the hall, up the stairs, through another hall, up another set of stairs, then took an elevator up to the 5th floor.

She pelted him with questions the whole time. "What? Why? Who are you? What are you doing with me? Where are we going? What's on the fifth floor? And you can de-tape my wrists, you know- ooooh that looks interesting!" And so forth.

The big man ignored her the whole time.

Isaac looked at Oak.. He had a knife.. But a bobby pin? Isaac took his note book and took the paper clip off it, he handed it to Maddy.. Isaac wasn't really sure how lockpicking worked.. Wouldn't any sort of pin or clip work? Or was it bobby pins only?

Isaac sighed. Could it get any worse?

Oak searched his pockets. He had to have someth-

Paper clips! He had paper clips because his parents wanted him to organize some files- Oak paused. No. Don't think about your parents. They're not- F*CK THEY'RE DEAD AND-

We have no TIME for this! Oak roared at himself.

"I have a few paper clips, Maddy, will that do?" Oak miserably mumbled.

Madi grinned.

"That'll do," She said happily. She bent the paperclip out of shape and cracked her neck for show. Ah the things you learn in prison... I really need to rephrase my thoughts... Madi inserted the bobby pin and blade into the keyhole and took a deep breath, concentrating. She poked and jabbed at the barrels within the lock, closing her eyes.

"The plastic on the paperclip it too thick," She muttered. She dropped it and took a metal paperclip from Oak. Those should do better. She returned to wiggling around the locks. Her hands shook slightly as she continued to push and-

click!

Once the first barrel was out of the way, the other four followed after. With an accomplished grin, Madi turn the door knob and pushed it open. "After you, Gents."

Isaac made a sadistic grin..A renewed vigor he drew the hook words and charged down the hallway. Nobody were to harm his friends. Someone would say that his eyes burned with vengeance.. And one thing was sure, Noone should lay harm to his friends.. Isaac reached the stairs, looking back he waved the others over before ging up. He stood infront the closed elevator. Examinating it, before pushing the button to call it. Maybe the stairs are faster? Isaac looked at them. Wouldn't do. Being tired isn't good in a fight. But it would be a surprise attack.

Oak thought for a moment. Oh God, it was going to be stupid, so stupid, everyone's going to make fun of him-

"Hey, guys?" Oak mumbled, "I have an idea. Some of us go upstairs, some of us take the lift. The ones in the lift will be decoy, the ones in the stairs will ambush. But it's stupid. Let's not."

Isaac turned to Oak. And smiled pointing at him then at the Elevator. He of course to make sure they understood pointed at Oak himself and Maddy, Vicky and Mido to take the stairs.. *Distraction huh.. Oak you clever son of a owl.* The elevator came down, Isaac turned slightly before walking backwards into it. He stared at the different numbers. And then looked at the others, awkwardly he twisted his hands while holding the swords 'Number?'

Madi jogged after Isaac and grabbed his shoulders.

"Isaac, calm down. Rushing in, guns a blazing, is a horrible tactic. Besides, if you want to know where they took her, I need to be able to see what button they pushed. So wait a minute, okay?" She said. She turned to Oak as he spoke. "That's... not a bad idea. But wait a second."

Madi awaited for the elevator doors to open and slipped inside, pressing the "door open" button to keep the elevator open. She snatched Oak's gun and fiddled with it until some of the gunpowder fell into her palm. She held it up to the elevator buttons and blew on the powder. She grinned as some of it stuck to the "5" button.

"5th floor."

Amy was dragged through another hall, up another set of stairs (I mean, seriously, why don't you just take the elevator all the way up?!?! Her legs were getting tired!). As she stumbled up the stairs, she felt something slip out of her pocket... The syringe!

She watched helplessly as it bounced down the stairs, and landed with a loud "crash" at the bottom. She struggled against the man, trying to get to it. He pulled her harder and she stumbled away, gazing at the syringe that was cracked and was now leaking. She nudged the test tube out of her pocket, hoping that the others would find it and rescue the sample.

Luckily, the test tube didn't break. She mentally fist pumped.

Isaac looked with a puzzled face on Maddy, where had she learned all of this? It was certainly unique skills.. That is what Isaac would have said. If he could. He sighed and nodded to Maddy then at the panel. Two to distract. three to ambush. It was a perfect-ish plan that Oak came up with.. But how many were they going to face? And how were these people armed? If they carried guns that could pose a serious problem.. Isaac pointed at Oak, Vicky and Mido then at the stairs. Time is of essence right now.. What could they do to Natalie?

Oak frowned intensely. "Wait, what? There's gotta be a better idea than-"

Maddy snatched Oak's revolver, to his great annoyance. When Maddy announced the floor, Oak grinned and said, "You must have been a robber in a past life."

Oak snatched his gun back. He saluted the stairs group and pressed 5. As the elevator slowly went up, Oak cleared his throat awkwardly. He could use some Muzak.

"When I said your girlfriend was a criminal in a past life," Oak mumbled, "I didn't mean past life."

Amy was lead (dragged) to a large room on the 7th floor, that was covered in windows and had a non pickable lock on it.

Inside the room, there was a table, several large bright lights, and a group of scientists.

They all looked up when they entered the room.

Amy dug her heels into the floor, and braced herself against the door frame, refusing to budge an inch. "Whoawhoawhoa what are we doing?" She knew what, but she wanted to double check.

The big man didn't respond, but pulled her past the doorway, much to her displeasure.

A scientist stepped forward. "Zach, you may let her go now."

He let her go, and she immediately ran to the heavy door. It was closing rapidly, and she wanted to get out. She grabbed the handle on the door and pushed.

The scientists watched her with amusement, and one pressed a button on a small remote.

Immediately, Amy fell to the ground, stunned. The metal on the door had webs of electricity that were leaping from the wall and the door.

Two scientists grabbed her and dragged her back from the door.

Still dazed, she let them, vaguely wondering if the others had found the sample yet.

The scientist stepped forward and crouched next to her. He had blonde hair, and thin, pointy eyes.

He smiled at her as the door closed. "You see, that is the genius thing about this lab; it's all metal. Perfect for stunning people."

The same two scientists, who she realized were younger than the rest, lifted her up onto the table with bright lights.

Madi watched the elevator rise and cracked her knuckles.

"Alright, let's roll," Madi muttered to herself. She looked to Vicky and Mido. "Since you both are basically defenseless, stay low. I'll take the lead... And remind me to throttle Oak and Isaac for stealing the elevator."

That said, Madi turned on the safety and headed for the stairs. It's only five floors, c'mon Madison, you've got this. You've run more with the inmates. Seriously, again with my thought process. Madi tucked her gun in her pocket and shoved open the door to the stairs. Madi took off running up the stairs. One flight...

Madi felt her knees starting to hurt.

Two flights...

Madi nearly missed a step and caught herself on the railing.

Three flights...

Her breath was starting to come in shorter gasps.

Four flights...

Madi grabbed her gun, turned off the safety, and peered through the window in the door. Where are the guys? Wait... where's Amy?

Madi kicked the door open and ran in, gun held up. There was one man there, about 25, and Madi tackled him. She straddled his waist and pressed the gun to his forehead.

"Where's Amy?!"

The elevator dinged as it reached the fourth. Oak cracked his knuckles, hefted up the filthy sewer pipe in his right hand, and held the knife with his left. He smiled nervously at Isaac.

"I hope we get out of this," Oak said. "Um... Isaac, I want to say something. You have been so strong, and I really respect you for that. You taught us how good it is to be able to make sacrifices. I... I really care about you because of that. Thank you for everything you've done. I wish we... I wish we had more time to know each other. But now. Let's get that sumb*tch."

Oak paused. "See you on the other side."

When the door opened on the fifth floor, Oak charged out, screaming. Maddy was already there, kneeling on top of a young man, pointing a gun at his face.

"Well, this is rather awkward," Oak said to nobody in particular.
