Dice Memoria OOC

Marcus assumed Shaka were a caster because of the staff, but then he went and tried to run up a cliff, which is a very athletic thing to do and indicates he's more a physical individual than mystical.

He also failed spectacularly to climb that cliff, so he could just be a very dumb caster. Or even if he did assume he was a more physically oriented class he could still just be a fighter or barbarian who's missing his weapon.

Well, its going to be a hard roll but I will let you roll yourrrr *checks real quick* Religion check, since that best fits your job in demon hunting. I could hear an argument for nature. Ill give you a bit to go on if you can hit 15. more if you score decently higher.

Got it. Do you want me to roll here or make another post in the IC?

...I'm a Fighter who has all his weapons and armor. So does everyone else. The most logical conclusion to make when looking at someone who has a staff and tries to run up a cliff is "Monk." Hence, Punch boy.

I leave for a day or two and come back to find myself engaged in battle with a cat-demon... Sounds exciting! (x

I am back with decent internet now, so I should be more active. I'll try to set up a post now. I suppose this creature is too alien for me to try to speak to it? ValkyrieRose ValkyrieRose

Well, of course self-defense is a thing, and an injured beast can sometimes be more dangerous than a regular one. Basically, Daimha would give it the chance to have both parties leave the other alone, but if it won't allow that then there's little choice but to fight. A retreat would likely end in disaster as the beast would probably pursue (again, seeing as it seems to be more aggressive than defensive) and could kill the party in their flight.

I have a hunch that this is most likely an evil creature, so further attempts at diplomacy would probably be extremely dangerous. In the case of normal beasts, though, especially good ones, then Daimha would definitely be trying to avoid killing it if possible, and might try to tend to its wounds later if it would allow it. It's good druid-karma, and might make a friend or learn something new.

Can't argue with that. A fight we can avoid is a death we can avoid.

Granted, I'm assuming (and hoping) that the traditional parma-death rules are in place for PCs, but still.

well, so far your off to an EXCELLENT start on the whole stabbing part *sarcasm* x3

Well, I cant say anything on the death subject so i shan't/ I usually try not to kill characters if i can avoid it.... usually capture or enslavement of some sort. That said, youll find no such mercy from the demon kitty of devilness

Fair enough. I consider the very real possibility of character death to be one of DnD's features, but I suppose I'll see.

i didnt mention this in the actual post, but your passive would kick in at this time JayTee JayTee so you would automatically make your ckeck and negate the damage.

more or less. I figured you would want to write how you are...saved for yourself as i told you about, but i can do it if you had no wish to. But, essentially, yeah continue as per normal

Alright, for future reference do I get to pick and choose the attack that gets negated? or is it just the first attack of a fight, period?

Also, some of my abilities have to do with rerolling dice, which is hard to use if I uh, can't actually see the dice being rolled. Any chance I could convince you to use the sites die roller when taking an action?

mmmm, I can try and remember to tell you what i rolled if you want to reroll it, or what the roll was when it hit for you.. I prefer to keep that close to the chest to avoid metaing as much as i can . Not that i dont trust any of you or anything, it just does a good deal in eliminating it.

And sadly no, the passive will kick in the first time you take damage... that said you can choose to reactivate it with the price listed. But hey it saved you from getting mauled and your throat ripped out! Yay!

It's really easier to just roll everything in to open to keep things transparent and everyone honest. I'd strongly recommend it.

And fair enough about the amulet. It's unfortunate that I can't pick and choose, but understandable. At least it's upgradable, so maybe that could be a future enhancement.

wait, you dont? i thought i posted....
oh great. either i posted i the result n a different post/forum... somewhere else entirely or the post i originally made vanished.

wonderful

tldr while i spent the next day worrying about the confusion someone in an unrelated post has about a person they dont known randomly attacking a cat for seemingly no reason:

Both attacks hit and their damage was recorded. I';l describe it in better detail the next time someone hits on their next post, but the gist is that, as you suspected from your arcana it doesn't have actual flesh. Your sword sings in, connected and dispersing mist as you swing your sword through it.. You dealt damage to it, that much is certain, but it;s makeup and form is befuddling, to say the least.

Haha no worries, we've all had our derp moments.

How hurt is it? Like, just by looking at it, can Marcus tell how badly it's injured (Lightly wounded, moderately wounded, near death, etc)?

its relatively hard to tell how it is since it doesnt show any emotions, or even the features to define it. Its possible to guess it might be moderatly wounded just by law of conservation of energy, but that could easily be wrong. You DID dispell a bit of the black mist surrounding it, so it is a decent enough frame for guesswork.
