Marvel/Daredevil Roleplay

Sable made a face, "Ooo..." she finished it up, "Too late." She shook her hands, "Besides, I'm good at cleaning up." She pulled out a bag and looked at the molecules of thc in the air. She broke them up turning them into separate elements. They dispersed without a smell or trace. She then put the burned paper into a plaatic bag and threw it in the trash, "Easy let's eat." She headed to the pizza place.

Maddie just shook her head, smiling. "Rotten kid." She said, walking into the pizza parlor. "Let's grab one to go. I need to change and shower." She didn't say why. She decided telling sable she had a date wasn't a good idea.

"Sounds good to me." Sable said not asking any questions. She walked to the counter, "Could I get two slices of cheese pizza, extra sauce?" Sable ordered. She pulled some straight, new looking 5s out to pay for her meal.

The pimply faced teenager behind the counter nodded and handed her her order in a box, having heard Maddie say she wanted it to go. "7.50" he told sable. Maddie ordered two slices of pepperoni for the same price and paid. Once out of the store she looked at sable. "Where did you get that money? It looks like it came straight from a bank." She said, frowning. "Tell me it doesn't belong to that guy you were framed for robbing."

Sable sniffed at her pizza in the box. The smell overwhelming her as her stomach grumbled with excitement to eat once they arrived back at Maddie's apartment. When she heard Maddie's question, she responded, "That rich asshole? No. Cops took all that money when I was arrested."

"So then how do you have such nice bills?" Maddie asked, closing her apartment door and locking it. She opened her pizza box and took a bite, then opened her fridge and set out two cans of coke on the table. "This is my favorite place. The dough is hand made from scratch every morning. I bought some once. My pizza wasn't nearly as good though."

"Don't worry about it." Sable said sitting and flipping open the lid of her to go box. She took a bite, "delicious!" She called, "I can see why." As Sable spoke, the wind blew again the window, a letter sliding in.

Maddie frowned. "Uh huh." She shook her head. "I really wish you wouldn't steal." She muttered. Maddie noticed the letter against her window. She frowned, retrieving it. "It appears that you have some mail, sable." Maddie said, clearly concerned. She walked to the table and handed sable the letter.

"What? I didn't steal anything." Sable said defensively as Maddie stood and headed toward the window. Sable watched her with her eyes. When the letter appeared in front of her Sable room it quietly, "Thank you." She accepted it, slowly opening the envelope. She felt nervous. She peaked at what was inside before closing it back up, "I'll look it over later."

Maddie raised an eyebrow. "Who is it from?" She asked, eating her pizza casually across from sable. She was worried it was one of sable's street rat friends, trying to convince her to come back or worse.

"I... Uh... I don't know." She shrugged, stuffing the letter under her leg, hoping desperately to avoid the question. She kept eating, looking down and away from Maddie.

"Sable." Maddie said, transfixing the girl with a stern gaze. "You're not getting off that easy." She said, crossing her arms. "Who sent the letter."

Sable sighed. She couldn't lie. She hated dishonesty, and Maddie had been so good to her so far. Sable wanted to trust her, and she wanted Maddie to trust her as well. With a frustrated sigh, she leaned back against the couch and reluctantly answered, "Ryder..." She crossed her arms.

Maddie remained calm. "Okay. Look I'm gonna trust that you're not doing anything INCREDIBLY STUPID like telling him stuff about the deal with the cops, or your lawyers. But what would even possess you to talk to him in the first place? He sold you out! He betrayed you. I don't get it." Maddie said, more confused than anything else.

"I never sought him." Sable said, "He sought out me." She sighed as she leaned forward balancing her elbows on her knees and resting her face in her hands, her thick hair falling around them covering her face. The honesty might as well start now, she didn't want Maddie to have any misconceptions, "I started getting letters from him about 4 or 5 days after it happened. Every time he's been apologizing, telling me about what's been going on, and sending me money. He's really sorry for what he did... And he never meant to, but, he had a lot at risk and part of it is my fault."

Maddie frowned again. "How is it your fault?" She asked, trying to understand. She had never gotten how there could be 'loyalty among thieves'.

Sable sighed, "I..." she didn't know how to explain it, "I was having a fling with Ryder." She said finally, looking down at the ground, "We were hiding it from Piper. He was convinced I was girl and he wasn't stop at anything until he won me over... I think he had his suspicions and because of that he started using Ryder's little sister as a bargaining chip." Sable said, "I don't want her to get hurt." She rubbed her face roughly with her palms, "This is my fault."

Maddie realized what sable meant finally and everything clicked. "Oh sweetie." She scooted her chair next to the girl. "it's not your fault. Piper is a terrible person and Ryder was caught in a bad position. If he was your friend, he's your friend. It's no ones fault but Piper's, what happened to you two." She said, gently placing a hand on the girl's shoulder. "I thought he was suckering you after having played you. I didn't realize he had a sister..." She shook her head, imagining what Piper must have threatened him with.

Sable nodded, wrapping her arms around her body as if embracing herself and protecting it from the rest of the world. She nodded slowly as Maddie spoke, finally understanding everything that happened, "I tried to get him to leave with me... But he wouldn't... He said he couldn't risk his sister's safety and he couldn't leave Piper... Yet he could screw his girlfriend, go figure." Sable rolled her eyes.

Maddie sighed. "Sometimes we don't mean to but we hurt the people we love. You lived out there. You know what it's like. Survival and self preservation come first. Ryder's sister is a part of him. He wants to preserve her as much as himself. You can't blame him for that. But he could have handled the situation better. warned you and then told Piper you got away before he could frame you. But when we're scared we don't think clearly." Maddie said, trying not to defend him but understanding nonetheless.

"Yeah... But he won't leave MSR. He refuses. He says there's no other way." Sable sighed, "and I am trying to separate myself from MSR... I want out, I don't want to live like that or deal with it anymore... And I don't think I can see someone who is involved." Sable said the words painfully.

Maddie nodded. "That's probably a wise choice....as painful as it is." She responded, looking sad. "If you need help finding a job I'm sure between me,matt and Foggy we can get you one. Even if its just temporary. Whenever you want to move on." She said, trying to sound supportive and not pushy.

Sable didn't like the idea of not seeing Ryder. He meant a lot to her and was always there for her, until this unfortunate turn. She opened the letter and took out the money. She shifted through the hundred dollar bills and gave Maddie four of them, "Thanks for all your help." She said, "I don't want a job though. That's not me."

Maddie nodded slowly. She looked at sable, not taking the money at first. She considered telling her to keep it, but knew she wouldn't listen. Maddie accepted the bills. "You can smoke in here. But make sure you do that weird thing where it doesn't smell anymore." She said, wiggling her fingers in the air like magic. "I have bad allergies." She smiled just a little. "So if you don't want a job then what are you gonna do?"

Sable shrugged, "I don't know, help you at the hospital I guess." She counted the rest of the money, "When can I start?"
