Sable stared for a second as Maddie walked away, unable to respond, to say anything. She was stunned and angered by Maddie's words and her entire attitude toward Sable. She was not a child who needed to be protected. She was strong and completely responsible for her own decisions and ready to suffer any potential consequences. It was demoralizing to be held down, condescending. She was beginning to realize something. In this world, you couldn't have your cake and eat it to. You couldn't live as a juvenile, skate by, and then still manage to be treated equally. "I am not a fucking child." she whispered as she picked up the phone and dialed Matt. It rang for 30 seconds before going to voiemail. She hung up and called Foggy. Nothing. Finally she called Karen, giving her the scoop and telling her the police were on their way. After hanging up, she put her phone in her pocket saying to herself, "I have no obligation to follow Maddie's orders or anyone else. I obey no one. I just want some damn respect." she took off toward the ICU to help evacuate patients, "I'll get some." She moved quickly, helping evacuate patient after patient as the police and firefighters arrived. Sable could see the sirens outside as she hurried to Jamie's room and safely disconnected him, smoke floating into the room as she increased her speed. Getting him disconnected, she began to wheel him down,
"Hi, Sable." He said, "What's going on?"
"Not sure, Jamie. But we have to get you out of here." Sable said as she used her abilities to hold Jamie in the air as she walked down the stairs, the elevators no longer functioning.
