Fandom Mapletree Village -- A Harvest Moon RP

  • Esther Morgan

Esther had handled the drink fine at first, she was even okay when Richard came back over. Waving her hand in front of her, as to tried to hide the feelings she had inside. Soon the alcohol began to hit her really hard, and she was trying to talk to Richard. “Oh yeah! I’m-- I’m, perfectly A-OK!” She said letting out a huge laugh, as she made a okay hand motion, or at least tried. Right now she really didn’t care about anything, as she looked over to where Richard had come from she then remembered her searing jealousy.

“Richard…. What does Willow have that I don’t?” She suddenly asked, her words were far from perfect and she laid her head on the bar. “Is it because she’s got a nice body? Is it because she is nicer than me?” Esther lifted her head and smiled at him, but it was different than the smiles she gave everybody else. “It’s because I nagged you about your drinking isn’t?” She beckoned him become close to her so that she could whispered to him. “It’s not because I care about you as a nurse, it’s because I care about you in another way….”

With that she backed away, waving her cup in the air. “Please! I want more!” She said, this was not the nurse that everybody knew and she was talking a little louder than usual.

Steve slowly made his way around the village, eyeing the pub carefully as he really could use a drink, but feared Eloise. “Damn, woman….. Still holding a grudge about something that happened years ago!” He was speaking mostly to himself, taking a seat on a nearby bench and decided to wait for the perfect moment. He looked around, enjoying the quietness that surrounded the whole area except for what was going on. Steve tilted his head back, closing his eyes as today was more stress than he had ever had to deal with.

Well, Esther was clearly intoxicated. That was pretty much a no-brainer from the moment he got to the counter. She was giggling like a school girl and was flapping her hands around in some weird motion that Richard thought might be her saying "I'm good" but also might've been her saying "I'm very not good". Either way, it made Richard laugh. Well, for a moment anyways, until she started asking questions and not seeming as happy as she had before.

He blushed as she finished talking, demanding another drink. He smiled an awkward smile, unsure of what to say. He took his shot. "Fuck it," he mumbled, drinking straight from the bottle. "Okay ummm," he said, looking around the counter. "Alright, I'll just make you another shirley temple but this time," he looked over his shoulder to look her in the eye. "Don't chug it, ok? You don't want to be sick," he said. He quickly mixed up the drink, feeling a bit buzzed. He tried once again not to be heavy handed with the alcohol but he couldn't quite tell how much he had put in. "Alright, here you go," he said, handing it back to her. He set his forearms on the counter, leaning in a bit close to her. He was suddenly feeling very comfortable and sociable, not to mention a little less depressed than normal. Most could be attributed to the alcohol but Esther definitely had something to do with it.

"What you said earlier..." he said. "Willow and I don't...have anything. We're just friends," he said. "And yes, your nagging may be annoying but Willow also nags me. Trust me, I know I've got a problem," he said a bit gruffly, taking another drink from the bottle. Thinking about how he had a drinking problem always made him want to drink. It was pretty...unfortunate for him. "But, Esther," he said, pausing for a moment, trying to decide what he was going to say. "You are beautiful."

Bella watched as Steve sat down and quietly walked over to him before coming to a stop beside him, with his eyes closed he wouldn't be able to see her writing's. The thought that she would scare him with her presence crossed her mind and she wondered if she should go back into hiding. She finally decided to just wait for him to notice her, after that she would ask if he would allow her to be by him, if he said no she could go back to the trees.

If Esther had been in the least bit sober, she probably would’ve been more uncomfortable with how close the two of them were. For once it felt like she was finally able to loosen up a bit, not her usual seriousness that she took everything. If she thought about it more clearly, she was a bit of a workaholic as she spent many hours in the office. While everyone was out at night, Esther was usually putting together medicine and organizing appointments.

Esther felt a lot of relief when he assured her that Willow and him were just friends, she also felt slightly embarrassed that she made such an assumption. His next words caught her off guard, all she could do was stare at him for a moment and her eyes softened a little. “W-Well, thanks Richard….” She said, sipping her drink as she looked around the pub.

“It’s funny, I’ve never considered myself the jealous type…..” She covered her face with her hands, giggling again which was something she was having trouble controlling. “But, I guess this is the first time I’ve ever really truly cared about somebody….” She shook her head, taking another step of her drink and as more alcohol got into her system, the braver she got. Esther reached behind her to rub her neck for a moment, the busyness of the day was taking a toll on the body. “Richard, would you ever consider going out with a woman like me?” She suddenly asked, but rather loudly and probably within earshot of a lot of people, who were in the pub.

"I'll be right with you with that drink." She excuse herself before adding, "I'll come back once you two have decided. Just flag me down." She gave one of her usual, brief smiles as she put her notepad away. There was no need considering it was just the one drink-- plus her memory was too bad or anything, so normally she was able to remember everyone's order. She sighed, walking over to back to whip up the Long Island Tea for Camilla. She found it a bit odd that Camilla would order a drink like this- perhaps Esther had some influence on that? She wasn't sure if she was okay with that, but it wasn't any of her business, and it wasn't like it was wrong for them. They were all human, so a drink wouldn't be the end of the world or anything- So why hold yourself up to such high standards?

She shrugged it off, giving the drink it's final touches before delivering it to Camilla. "Enjoy." That's all she said as she turned away, heading back over to the bar until she took note of the nearly empty basket of cheese curds over by Bryan. She walked over there, reaching out to it as she asked, "Finished with these? Looked like you enjoyed them." She gave a small laugh, picking up the basket once it had been confirmed that he was finished with it. it wasn't anything too unusual, but most people would've finished off the cheese curds since they're just a mere appetizer and the fact that they were rather tasty. She shrugged it off though, passing off the thought as maybe he had eaten previously beforehand- or maybe he didn't have much of an appetite. She then paused, almost tossing them out until she gave a small thought over it. Had he... saved them for her? She knew he was a nice guy, but maybe she was just overthinking it? However, she remembered his offer from before and her polite dismissal of it because of Richard. She found her lips curling up slightly, deciding not to get her hopes get up just by something so small, yet she wouldn't waste the cheese curds. Maybe he had been right-- she would need the energy, so what could it hurt? She popped the last few cheese curds into her mouth, enjoying their flavor before putting the basket aside.

She then made her way back to the front, making sure that Richard was taking care of Esther before leaning against the bar. Her attention returned to Bryan, a slight sigh escaping her lips, "Have you come for the show? I think Willow had something new planned she wanted to try. I'm not sure." She lightly shrugged, trying to formulate some kind of a conversation. She assumed that the conversation would help pass the time since it would probably be a long night for her. Not to mention she honestly wanted to read the book Atticus had let her borrow-- but that would have to wait for another day.

Marielle

Marielle glanced up at the sound of a voice. She turned her head to get a better look at its source. "Oh of course. I was just enjoying the breeze for a minute." She smiled a little. "I don't plan on getting sick anytime soon." She studied Axel for a moment before speaking again. "It's pretty late. Are you lost?" Not a lot of people seemed to be out at night, unless they were at the pub or around the park. "I can give you directions if you need them."

Bryan watched as Willow poked her head out and called for Richard. Richard was drinking, no surprise there. However he was surprised to see that he was drinking with Esther. Still she was just as human as the next person. Richard left Esther for a moment to help the entertainer with whatever she needed. It appeared that the show was going to be starting relatively soon. The door opened and and the mayor entered the pub.

Clearly the mayor was a brave man for entering the pub that night. Considering the events from this morning. The mayor was not a well liked man, he seemed selfish which wasn't a great trait. Although Bryan didn't know Steve personally and these were all rumors he had heard, so he was indifferent towards their mayor. As long as he didn't cause too many problems and didn't screw up the town then Bryan was content. Not that anyone ever opposed him when elections came up.

Esther was clearly a lightweight as her volume increased and he could make out bits and pieces what she was saying to Richard. He decided it was best not to eavesdrop on the conversation. Plus he would probably hear about it the next day. Rumors spread like wild fire in this small town. Bryan watched as Elena came and grabbed the basket and walked off with the remaining cheese curds. Hopefully she understood his little hint.

He smiled as she came back and asked if he was here for the show. "Honestly? I'm not really here for the show. However I know most of the people come when there is a show. I've been trying to push myself and socialize a bit more. I figured this was a good place to do that.... and I was right." Bryan replied and smiled as he finished his water. "Probably sounds silly, a grown man having to force himself to go to the bar and socialize. I don't regret it though, great food and good conversation." he explained and chuckled. God he was probably sharing way to much information than she wanted to know. Hopefully the Harvest Goddess was getting a good laugh at his embarrassment, he was doing this for her.

"I'm sure Willow will perform well, she always does from what I've heard. It takes a certain amount of confidence to get up on stage and perform for people. I know I couldn't do it. So what brought you to Mapletree?" Bryan asked.

~Elena Goodwin~

"Socializing? You've come to the right place then." She replied coolly, still leaned up against the bar. She would glance around occasionally, making sure nobody needed her-- so far so good. "Just make sure to talk to someone who's somewhat sober. There's no telling what they'd tell you." She added, a bit amused by the truth behind those words. She hadn't been working there long, so she was mostly a stranger to everyone in town-- the perfect person to confess anything they had on their chest. It's not like she talked a lot anyway, but damn, the things she had heard.

"It's not silly, really. If you think about it, most people have a bit of a hard time talking to other people." She then pointed over to Esther and Richard briefly, being unnoticed by the two. "See them? You wouldn't catch them two having a decent conversation on any other day, but since Esther wants to get...friendly with Richard, she came to the pub to force herself to put in that effort-- and look at her now, drunk and getting along with Richard just fine." She shook her head, knowing that none of that was any of her business; however, she couldn't help but overhear it since Esther had spoken so loudly- not to mention that her actions had given away her intentions.

"But anyway, yeah, Willow is pretty good at what she does. I don't think I've ever come across someone like her before, but it's good to see that you've come to see her talent yourself." She admitted, knowing just how talented the girl was. She had seen the girl perform many times at the inn/pub, so it was nothing new to her. Though she wouldn't lie-- each time Willow danced, she thought she improved. Always. Not to mention that Willow was gorgeous and had a body that any man would want. If Elena had been any other girl, she might've been jealous and insecure when compared to her, but that wasn't like her to do so.

She smiled- there's that fake smile again- as she spoke, "I came here to escape the city. It's much too overcrowded and polluted for my tastes." She admitted, and even though that had been partially true, that wasn't the whole reason. Family issues was her number one reason, but she didn't talk about that to anyone at all. She usually kept her personal problems to herself, so it wasn't unusual for her to avoid the topic entirely, even if that made her lie. She then looked down at his empty glass, "Do you want another refill? Or do you want something else this time?" She asked him, changing the subject. She didn't know if he would realize that she had purposefully changed the subject, but it didn't matter to her at that moment.

Bryan looked over to Esther and Richard, who did indeed seem to be getting awfully close to each other. He wasn't expecting them to have feelings for each other. Especially since Esther seemed to nag at him about his health and Richard just seemed ignore her. Opposites did attract, and alcohol gave people "courage" to do things they wouldn't normally do. It would be interesting to see how their relationship would progress in the next couple days.

"That will be an...interesting conversation for them tomorrow morning. Just another reason to stay away from alcohol." Bryan said with a chuckle. "It could be fun to talk to the intoxicated people, but I think I'd rather talk with you." Bryan said. To any normal person, that statement sounded flirty. To Bryan he meant what he said. He was enjoying talking her since, helped that she was sober too. Plus Elena seemed like a mystery to him, he didn't really know much about her and was enjoying learning more about her.

He didn't question her explanation on why she moved here. In fact he smiled. "I know exactly what you mean. Because believe it or not that is exactly why I moved here. I use to have a mediocre job and then an opportunity presented itself and I took it." Bryan shared. When she inquired about another glass of water he realized it was empty. "Oh would you mind? I'm sorry I had a long day outside so I'm always thirsty." Bryan explained.

"Good because I'm not a fan of drinking." Elena said with a small smile. It was ironic really- Elena despised alcohol, mainly because of what it had done to her father, but here she was at the pub, serving drinks and food to alcoholics and the rest of the town. She nodded in agreement, "Yeah, it really is funny..." her words trailed off as her cheeks lightly flushed. He wanted.. to talk to her? She briefly wondered that maybe it was just because she was sober, but she quickly pushed the thought out of her mind. Of course, he was just being nice. He wasn't flirting with her or anything. Right? She tried to read his expression, trying to see what lies behind his bright eyes, but when she felt it was safe to assume that it was just friendly talk, she shrugged it off with a smile.

"Sure thing. Just a moment." She took his glass, but this time she returned with a bigger glass filled with refreshing, cold water. She set it down before him before tending to a few other customers, and eventually, she found her way back to Bryan. "So, you own a ranch? I assume that's what you mean when you say an opportunity presented itself." She asked him, a bit interested. She wondered if he had a huge garden, and she wondered if he wouldn't mind giving her a few tips about it. Sure, a garden was at the bottom of her to do list since her house wasn't exactly all that presentable since she got it so cheap-- but one day, she'd fix it up and have a small garden.

Richard, even a bit intoxicated, was struggling to respond to Esther. See, he had been with girls before, but nothing was ever serious and he had never been married. But, somehow, just her asking these kinds of questions was different for him and he didn't really know how to answer. He didn't even really want to answer, to be honest. He didn't like confrontation. He took a swig out of the bottle. At least her laughing was cute.

"Well, yeah, I suppose I would," he said, cringing a bit at his words but also glad he had had the guts, and alcohol, to say them. He wondered for a moment if when he was doing was wrong. Esther was a grown woman but she was still young, younger than Richard, for sure. He felt a bit like he should let her live her life. At the same time, she could make her own decisions. "Esther..." he said, but trailed off, not knowing what he wanted to say. "You're beautiful, and despite acting like I hate you, I really, really don't, but are you sure you'd want to be with someone like me? I'm old and a drunk and I've got baggage. I mean baggage," he said, speaking without much thinking. "I'm just saying, you could do better." He kicked himself for saying that. Why was he doing this to himself? Finally, someone he really seemed to like liked him back but he was still screwing things up for himself.

Bryan drank his water as Elena left to go tend to the other customers. He got goosebumps as he touched the cold class. He pondered at her comment, she hated alcohol. Yet she worked at a bar. Although there wasn't many jobs that Mapletree had to offer. He could see her working at the library or at the school, she seemed very intelligent. Eventually she found her way back to him, asking about the ranch.

He grinned, the ranch was his pride and joy so he loved talking about it. "That's right. It originally belonged to my friend's grandfather. We would come here as children during the summer time to go swimming. Something about swimming in the lake is better than the city pool. In return for letting us stay we helped him with chores. Unfortunately he passed away and offered the ranch to Chad, my friend. Chad offered it to me since he knew I was unhappy in the city. I put my two weeks, sold the majority of my belongings, and moved here." Bryan shared.

Those two weeks had been a blur. His mother had thrown a fit, but his father and sister were supportive of his decision. Selling his belongings had been a pain, and he probably didn't get what they were really worth, but he was happy to get something rather than nothing. The money was used to buying his first cow, Bessy. "I never had to work so hard in my life, but it was worth it. I love my animals and I think it shows in their product. I do a little farming, mainly hay. I have a small field where I grow some crops though. Airne usually buys them otherwise I just eat them." Bryan added.

She seemed interested in his ranch. Although it was her job to be friendly. Bryan decided to stray from his comfort zone. "If you're interested I'd be happy to give you a tour of my ranch. You can pet the animals and meet Buddy. He's my dog and loves people." Bryan offered. His face had a hint of red to it. "I mean unless you're busy then don't worry about it. I just thought it might be something fun. You know, pushing myself to be social and all. I mean I do genuinely want you to come, but only if you want to." Bryan rambled, his face growing increasingly red. He drank more water, trying to save himself from any more embarrassment.

Cathal showed up late. He wasn't sure if that was going to be good or bad--had Eloise made his dinner first, and now he looked like an asshole? Or would she wait until after the rush, and then it would be fine?--but it was, anyway. He'd been busy with the twins, and then finishing delivering the mail, and then fussing over his clothes, and then worrying if he ought to bring anything, and then time had run off without him. The pub was full and bustling when he arrived, wearing the only dress shirt he owned under his leather jacket and carrying a bouquet of wild flowers that was mostly dandelions, and he hoped Eloise would be alright with everything. He slid in through the crowd and started for the kitchen, because he'd been invited there, basically.

She could tell he had fond memories of the ranch as he spoke lightheartedly, a certain gleam in his eyes told her just how much he loved his ranch. She folded her arms, having a far off look in her eyes. Perhaps she felt a twinge of jealousy, but that was her only being human. Could she help it? Not really. She had a shit childhood, so she could only have mere glimpses of a dream that had been a reality for him. However, despite her own experience, she felt happy for him. It was good to know that there were still good people in the world, but in a way, it reminded her of how utterly alone she truly was with the matter. Though she would only think of the positives in her life for the time being. "Mhmm, sounds wonderful honestly. I bet your ranch is a nice place. I suppose you got lucky." She gave a small smile as she spoke, lightly tapping the counter before returning her attention to him.

"You sell produce? Maybe I could buy some from you, if you wouldn't mind..." she trailed off, knowing that maybe it wasn't a good idea. As much as she likes the idea of fresh produce, it's not like she earned a whole lot to begin with. She didn't mind though. She could just save up a bit more for groceries and cut off some of her budget for the repairs in her house-- just a little longer. She sighed quietly, but soon her cheeks dusted a color of light pink as he spoke. Her eyes had a soft gleam in them as she nodded, "I'd love to see it sometime. I don't know when I'd have time, but... I promise to stop by soon." She smiled sheepishly, feeling as though she had probably smiled more times that night than she had done in a week. She looked away, trying to contain her blush as she let her hair cover part of her face to hide it. Had that been the second time she blushed in the pub? Considering her other usual days, this by far had been the most eventful for her.

Esther was happily surprised even in her state of drunkenness at Richard’s words, she was still sipping her drink and working on getting drunker. She smiled softly, it was kind of nice to see him acting different and he called her beautiful again. Still she didn’t know how exactly to respond to his words, instead she let her feelings flow out with her words, reaching out she grabbed his hand.

“I don’t hate you either, in fact quite opposite…. I know I’m young and probably very immature, but….” She paused a moment to take another sip of her drink and then looked him in the eyes. “I don’t care if you have baggage, hell I have baggage…. But that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to have somebody who cares about you…..” She paused again, getting a little flustered as she was yelling at herself inside, unable to really believe how brave the alcohol was making her.

“I’m an adult and I’m going to love who I am going to love, and maybe, just maybe that’s you!” She exclaimed, suddenly covering her mouth as she could not believe what she had just said. She quickly grabbed her drink and chugged it down, what was she doing? Granted it was all the truth, but why was she saying it all now?

Eloise Morgan

Eloise was being kept busy, with order after order and as exhausting and was, there was a certain somebody she was hoping to see and a certain somebody she had plans to kill if she saw. She began to wonder if he’d come at all, but then she remembered that the night was still young and she needed to have faith for the person to liked. After peaking her head out for the hundredth time, not only looking for Cathal but also getting a kick out of Esther and Richard, she saw him. Eloise waved from the kitchen , nearly tripping and falling flat on her face, she greeted him. “Well I’m so glad to see you, I was afraid you might not come for our ‘second’ date….” She let out a chuckle, quickly making sure she turned the food that was on the stove. “Would you like some steak and maybe some potatos? I’ve got other things too!”

Bryan was thrilled when Elena said she would like to visit sometime. His face no longer blushing. She she must've found his rambling endearing or was just understanding of his situation. At least he didn't make a complete fool of himself in front of her. She was now the one looking away from him, her hair covering her face, clearly blushing. Women were lucky, having their long hair to hide their face. Of course he wasn't going to point it out or mention it.

"I am very lucky. I'm sure this doesn't happen to just anyone so I make sure to work hard and take care of my animals well to get the best produce possible. You're more than welcome to buy produce from me! I wouldn't mind at all! I normally sell it to the general store or out to the city, but I try to sell it myself. I can sell my produce cheaper if I do it myself instead of going through someone else." Bryan explained and took a minute to drink some more water.

"Yeah whenever you have the chance to come and visit I'll always be around. There's no pressure. I'm usually around the barn, trying to fix or improve something. Save myself some money. I'm not a carpenter by any means, but I can fix little problems. When you run you're own business you learn to be a jack of all trades. Actually this morning I had to help Camilla with some basic first aid. She stepped on glass and the doctor wasn't in yet." Bryan said. He left out the part where it happened at the pub, because Richard had probably mentioned it to her.

Bryan felt like they had been talking about him for the majority of the conversation. "I've rambled about me and my ranch long enough though. Do you have any pets?" Bryan asked. Overall this night had been great. He managed to push himself out of his comfort zone and socialize with new people. Bryan found himself looking forward to showing Elena the ranch.

The pushed her hair back behind her ear as her blush faded away. "The general store, huh?" She quipped, trying to recall her rare trips there. Normally she tried to keep stock of what little she could afford, but she never noticed that the produce she had bought had probably come from his ranch.

Though she gave a small laugh, nodding in agreement. "There's always something that needs to be done, right? My place definitely needs a lot of work. I bought it from some people- hm, I can't seem to remember their names- Ah, well, never mind their names. They were nice folks, but they were afraid that the old place would eventually collapse. I think I could fix it up though just to where it'll last me a little longer-- just until I can get adjusted here in Mapletree." She explained, knowing that she could probably handle it herself. With her father being a lazy ass drunk, she had to keep the house fixed up as best she could, so there was no doubt that she was capable of the task.

She shook her head at his question though. Honestly she was too busy with work and fixing up her small home to look after an animal. She wasn't for sure what kind of pet she would want though if she could have one-- it just wasn't something she thought about since she didn't feel all that lonely. Her books were enough to keep her company and much more. "I've never had the chance to get one." She admitted, shrugging slightly. It wasn't like she was bothered by that thought or anything, but it wouldve been nice to at least have the option.

Richard actually didn't really think that Esther was immature at all. Young, yes, but immature? Hell, she was probably more mature than he was. What she was saying now was more mature than anything that Richard had ever said. "Okay, okay," he said, watching her chug a drink for the third time that night. He couldn't help but smile, though. He worried for a moment that when she was sober everything she was saying would.... go away. Would she regret it? It was really bad to have an awkward relationship with the only nurse that will put up with your rinking problems.

He took the glass from her, filling it with water from the sink. "Drink this, for now. If you still want something else after you've drank that whole glass you can have it," he said. He did not want to be responsible fo the terrible headache she was sure to have in the morning. Her job was plenty more important than his anyways. "And I mean every bit," he added, looking at her sternly. Or, well, trying to at least. He realized he was taking better care of her than he ever had himself, or anyone else really - save for the twins. But, they didn't drink.

He smiled at her. "Let's just have a good time, okay? And if you still feel the same in the morning we can talk about it again," he walked around the counter, taking her hand. "Let's go sit by the stage, Willow should be starting soon."

Cathal grinned at Eloise, a little sheepishly. "I would never," he said, "I just lost track of the time." He held out the bouquet. "Mostly picking flowers." She was a little red, whether from the heat of the ovens or nerves, Cathal couldn't tell. Either way, she was adorable. "Steak and potatoes sounds perfect."

Esther decided that what he said was the truth, she should not decide when she’s drunk that she wants to be with somebody. Instead she should talk to him about it when they are both sober, or at least she is, but inside she knew that her feelings were not going to change. She wanted to be with Richard and she wanted to share her feelings with him before it was too late. He took a hold of his hand, smiling as they walked over to watch willow preform, feeling kind of bad that she was so jealous of Willlow.

“I’ll agree to that, but I hope you can handle it when my feelings are the same, whether I’m drunk or sober….” She said with a knowing smile, as she held the water in her hand and was obediently drinking it. Her heart was pounding rather quickly, she didn’t know if it was because of her moment with Richard or because of the alcohol.

Willow looked out as she saw everyone was waiting. "Oh!" She took a look at her hair one more time and came from behind the curtain. She nodded to the boys start.

She took a bow as the applause. "Well this was only the beginning the party starts now! Whoa!" Once of the guys ran up to handing her a big mug of beer. But before he could leave. She told him to wait a moment. She raised the mug to her lips and chugged the whole thing then handed back to him. After chugging that beer some of the boys cheered and came to the stage.

"Yeah it's always something. If you ever need help, don't be afraid to ask. I'm happy to help. Speaking of fixing things, I need to fix Buddy's doghouse tomorrow." Bryan said and chuckled. Most women didn't know how to fix things so he was impressed that Elena did. When she mentioned she was still getting adjusted to Mapletree he couldn't help but ask "How long have you been in Mapletree and how did you learn to fix things?" The rancher had been so absorbed with work that time escaped him.

The more Elena talked to Bryan, the more intrigued he was with her. She was unique from other girls. The city girls were high maintenance and wanted to be spoiled. However Elena knew how to take care of herself. He was surprised she didn't own a pet, but then again if her house wasn't in the best conditions than maybe it was best for now. "Well if you ever decide you do want a pet. I have some contacts and can get you one. I don't make enough to take care of pets and livestock, so I have to order pets." Bryan explained.

Finally Willow came out and performed her dance. The music as too loud to continue a conversation. Everyone applauded her once she finished. Elena was right, Willow was great at what she did. He wondered if she practiced or if she just came up with the routines on the top of her head. Once the music was lowered he looked back at Elena, not staring at Willow like most of the men were.

"So I wanted to ask earlier. You said you hate alcohol, yet you work at a pub. Are you trying to push yourself too?" Bryan asked. Taking a job at a bar would definitely be one way to push oneself to socialize and get use to alcohol "I mean you're a great waitress and we've only been talking a bit, but I see you working at the library or somewhere else. Just a feeling I have." he explained and drank more water. Bryan would not want to work at the pub. It was so loud. He enjoyed being outside and working with his animals.

Elena smiled, nodding at his words. She was grateful since he offered, but he sounded busy since he ran a farm and helped out a lot for other people-- so she simply couldn't ask him for his help. "Thank you, but I think I can handle it on my own. I'll keep it in mind though, Bryan." She leaned against the counter, a bit caught off by his next question though. She decided to approach the first question with ease though, "I've only been here for a month or two. It feels like I've been here longer though. I've been reading so much, and work has been so time consuming.. feels like I've been here my whole life. It's peaceful here, and that's what I really like about this place." She admitted, and as much as she wanted to dodge his other question, she found that she couldn't.

How else could she put it? My dad was a lazy ass drunk, so I had to learn to keep the house repaired by myself? My dad didn't give a shit to take care of the things he owned? He thought it wasn't worth keeping everything manageable for his little girl? After that thought, she immediately stopped thinking about it. She didn't want to think about it. She had moved on from that life, and now she was here, enjoying herself rather than being in pure misery like she used to be. So she did the only thing she could do: She lied. "Oh, my mother died when I was young, so my dad was always working... He worked really hard, and so I had to learn to do a lot of things by myself, you know?" She spoke, and she felt like she was stabbing into Bryan's back with that shitty lie. It was a horrible thing to do- to build a... friendship based on lies. She didn't want that, but she didn't want to be seen as some girl who had daddy issues. She didn't want pity, and she certainly didn't want him to stop talking to her just because she had...baggage.

"But yeah, since father was busy all the time, so was I. I learned to cook, clean, repair things- you know, the whole nine yards." She gave a small laugh, "So it wasn't like I could have a pet running around to take care of, but if I ever do change my mind, you'll be the first person I talk to." She admitted, and despite the lie, there was truth to it. She did learn how to do those things on her own, and maybe she would come to him one day about the pet, but for now, she was more focused on work rather than animals.

Soon her attention was stolen by Willow's entrance and mesmerizing dance. She wondered if she could ever do that-- though she highly doubted it. Willow has years of experience. Elena? She has zero. Dancing was the last thing on her mind as a kid and even now. She then applauded when she was done, glad that her dance was a success. She would have to ask Willow how she did it all- handled the excitement, the crowd, stage fright, and dancing all at once. She was too shy to ever do something like that, and she was already shy from just the thought of asking her about it. She waved at the girl before looking back at Bryan, who surprsingly had his attention back on her. Most of the other guys were too infactuated with Willow.

"Push myself? I've never considered it like that. I'm just trying to get settled into Mapletree, and honestly, this was the best I could get for now. There's not a whole lot of job openings anyway, but... despite the fact that Richard is drunk most of the time, he isn't so bad. My coworkers aren't bad to be around with either, so that's a bonus." She gave a small laugh, thinking about it. She hoped that one day she could be friends with those girls. Back in the city, she didn't have a lot of those. She didn't really have any now that she thought about it, but she didn't care. It was all behind her now. She then pondered his words, nodding slowly, "Thank you, but yeah, I would prefer working at the library. It's a nice place, and Atticus..." she paused, remembering her encounter from before. They were both shy, so they practically embarrassed each other all the time. Her cheeks lightly flushed for a moment before shaking her head, "...Yeah, he's a nice fellow. He usually knows what I like to read." She admitted to him, briefly recalling the book she would have to read soon.
