Atticus Fawks
Mapletree Library

Atticus was looking at Esther when Cathal made his jab and about chocked- glad that his beard usually saved him the brunt of his flushing.
"Ehm- Other than that- Peachy," He said making deer in headlights eyes at his cousin as he took the second doughnut. He seriously considered shoving it in his mouth so he wouldn't have to speak but he was better than that so he went on, "I'll need to swing by and pick up Gran's Arthritis pills later, But she's doing well" He told the floor with confidence. Then shoved the doughnut in his mouth.

Atticus looked over as Anna entered. Saved by the patron. He did a little skip away from the pretty nurse and his awful cousin and said; "Hi yes. Hello. Me. I am the librarian. Hi. How can I help you?"
He was standing infront of the no food and drink sign eating a doughnut. A great first impression.

Esther Morgan

Esther could not help but laugh as well as feel sorry for the poor guy, she shook her head. Turning her attention to Anna and smiled as she pointed to Atticus. “That would be Atticus, if you need a book, he will get it for you! But, I have to head out to waffle farm….” She said waving her hand as she began to walk off, turning back towards Atticus. “Good luck on the whole baby thing!”

IT was not a dreadfully long walk to the farm, but Esther was already feeling tired from having to greet so many people in the morning. Esther loved her job, she loved it more than anything but there were times she wondered what else there was other than work.

Finally she arrived at the farm, quickly walking up to the farmhouse and knocking on the door. “Rina! It’s me Esther!”

Anna smiled and nodded at the librarian offering her hand in greetings. "Oh should have guessed it was you. You are certainly the type." She said jokingly letting out a quick chuckle at how he introduced himself. "I want to sign up if possible please."She requested politely before looking over and seeing Esther. "Oh here it is where you ran off to, nurse Morgan."

He really shouldn't tease Atticus, but it was so easy. Cathal laughed at Esther's parting comment. "I suppose the mail isn't about to deliver itself," he said, pulling his big yellow aviators on. Atticus liked to tell him they were awful. "I'll go and do that and stop embarrassing you. But finish your breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day. Isn't that right, doc?" he asked Anna.

"Swift look that was the last of the cherries!" Rina groaned in agony silently to her self as she watched her dog stane her lovely coat in red, from the cherries. "There won't be anymore of those beauites till next year, ay where are you going? Swift?!" Rina called out as she watched her dog leave the now eaten pie that was on the floor and rush over to the front door barking loudly as she ran through her doggy door.

"Oh company, Be Right there!" Rina realized when she heard the knocking on the door, grabbing a simple damp cloth towel over the ground of the red stained floor, before she made her way to the door. Opening it slowly to reveal the town nurse. "Good morning Esther! How are you doing today?" She greeted the nurse with a smile.

With her comment Atticus looked down at his worn boots and bulky sweater then tried to hide the doughnut behind his back. It wasn't everyday he got to make a new library card. The system was ancient- nothing like what they had at university but it did the job.
"Sure thing Dr. Constantine," He said. He turned on the machine and it made a whir and a little bit of typing got him onto the green font menu. He didn't ask for her address since he already knew it and left her full name as Dr. Constantine- he was a little to shy to try and ask her full name with Cathal still in the room. He looked over at him and made a shooing motion. Those glasses were awful.

"The machine will take a second," he warned as the card printer screeched to life. He had to raise his voice to talk over the card printer as he went on, "I got a grant in last year so if you have an book requests let me know I can get them ordered pretty quick- I'm trying to update most of reference. Make it a little less antique. Esthers been a love, requesting all those vet books."

Anna chuckled at Cathal breakfast comment."indeed but technically shouldn't include donuts...Unless there a certain kind." She said looking around for any boxes of donuts." The only way to know which one they are is to taste it. If you want to know if you can have them..."She said trailing off with an obvious hint in the manner she spoke and smile she gave. She turned to Atticus. "Will Do! Might need to order a few medical journals! Also some cook books!" She called out trying as well to speak over the printer."Did she now?! The books on veterinary should be useful!"

Richard Bell Bertrand
Hucklebumble Pub & Inn

It was really, really not Richard's morning. You'd think that no one would bother coming into a pub in the morning, but today it seemed to be the day of all days to have a waltz in like it was nothing. He did realize that to them it probably was nothing, but to him it was of great disturbance to his normal, quiet morning routine. He'd get a few people around lunch, too, which was good for the place and by then he was used to people coming in...or at least more tolerant of it. Cas, who was apparently the person Camilla was waving to, walked in then. "Hello Cas," he said, brought out of his thoughts. He took a big swig of his water and took the pills, grimacing at the lack of burning from the water.

"Oh, uh, sure," he said, turning to get a bottle of wine for Camilla. They didn't normally keep wine on the counter, that was for the fancy hard stuff. Instead, they kept it under the counter. Since no one really saw it, no one drank it, so they had plenty. "Is this okay?" he said, squatting down to pick up a bottle of white wine. He stood up, setting it on the counter.

A familiar voice entered the pub, and Richard couldn't help but let out a tiny smile, just the corner of his mouth, really. He had a love/hate relationship with Willow, but he was pretty much always glad she was around. She was great help and a great entertainer, and she had a hell of a personality. "I may be, but don't go making assumptions about me changing or none of that," he said, cracking another small smile. She relieved a bit of the tension that the other two had brought in. Maybe it was because he knew her and they were somewhat "friends", but either way he was very happy that she was there.

Bryan walked in, but to Richard's great appreciation he did nothing more than nod to Richard. Sometimes, on occasion, people would come in to the breakfast offered at the Pub. Not usually, it was mostly people who stayed at the inn who did, as it was included in the fee.

Camilla nodded and smiled while taking the bottle, "yes this will do wonderfully. Thank you so much." She smiled at Willow when she appeared in truth she respected the woman, Camilla didn't think she could ever pull off half the things Willow wore effortlessly and the others dancing was superb. That said she had only spoken to the other a few times before this, "how do you do Miss. Willow?" She nodded in greeting towards Bryan, who didn't seem to want to talk just yet. Slipping the wine bottle in her bag she wondered if Marielle have opened the shop yet.

Steve left the town hall that morning, gazing around at what everybody was up to, he took special note that the Pub seem rather busy. He really didn’t care much for the owner, Richard as they had butt heads quite often. Shaking his head, he walked down the steps and began making his way to the flower shop, he could not get enough of the beautiful flowers that were sold. It helped greatly that the shops owner was amazingly beautiful.

He quickly moved about the streets, finally arriving at the shop he opened the door slowly and began to look inside at all the different flowers. “Marielle! It’s lovely to see you this fine morning, I was hoping to get a few flowers the brighten up the Townhall! Would there be any that you recommended?” He gave her a soft smile, maybe even more of a flirty type of smile.

Rex

Rex had surprisingly woken up a little later than normal, he stretched his arms and looked over at the small picture that sat on a small table between his bed and his brother Tex’s bed. He gave it a small kiss, as he missed his mom terribly and hoped she would be able to take care of them soon. Until then he was perfectly content being a normal 11-year-old boy and causing trouble for his uncle and all the other people in town.

He jumped out of bed, shaking his brother awake as he held up a lizard that was in a jar. “Come on, Tex! I hear a bunch of people downstairs!” With that Rex began to get dressed, before he moved himself slowly down the stairs and looked around to see who was there. He noticed the Baker, their teacher and of course their uncle and of course be entertainment.

“Good morning uncle Richard!” He said sitting himself at the bar, trying to make himself look a little more mature. He quickly open the jar secretively, a sly smirk on his face as he quickly jumped down and walked behind Camilla dropping the lizard on her back. “Good to see you, Miss Camilla!”

Esther smiled brightly at Rina, giving the girl a little hug as she was on rather friendly term with Rina. She walked into the house, taking in a deep breath she could smell that the woman was cooking something. “It smells amazing in here!” She took the liberty and sat down, opening the books on the table as she tried to explain why she was here. They talked about it before, but she wondered if maybe the animals were doing better.

“I got some books on how to treat animals, so I was wondering how your animals are doing! I know you had some concern, but don’t worry I’m sure we can figure things out….. Although it would sure help if we can get a veterinarian in the town soon…. Work has been killer….”

"Share your doughnuts, Atti, there's a good lad," Cathal said, elbowing his cousin. He gave the doctor a little two-fingered salute, and then said, "I'll be seeing you," and left the library, continuing on his route. The bakery seemed to be closed, which was disappointing. He left Cas' mail in the slot and added a postcard with cupcakes drawn all over the back instead of any actual message.

The flower shop was next on his route, and Marielle was there, along with the mayor. He came in and gave them both his biggest smile. "Good morning, loves! And how's the beautiful Miss Marielle and our handsome mayor doing on this fine morning?"

Camilla knew the minute she saw Rex that something was bound to happen. Both he and Tex were constant trouble makers, and though it could drive Camilla to her wit's end she hadn't truly put her foot down. After all they were just two little boys who missed their mother, and it was her job as a teacher to be understanding. However when she felt something crawling on her back, she dropped her bag and let out a short scream before finally grabbing the lizard. She watched as it was desperately trying to flee and held it back out to Rex with a strained smile. "I believe you dropped this?" She moved slightly only to step on broken glass that went through her worn shoe. Wincing she motioned for the boy to stay back, "be careful, there's broken glass and it's quite sharp." She turned to Richard, "if i may have a broom and a washcloth I'll clean up this mess immeaditly."

Admittedly, Marielle had gotten completely engrossed in writing. So the sound of Steve's voice and then Cathal's voice made her jump a little and nearly fall over. Composing herself, she smiled at Steve and Cathal. "Good morning, Mister Mayor, good morning Cathal! I'm doing well. How are you both doing?" She paused to consider the mayor's question. "Hm. If I had to recommend any, I'd recommend carnations or tulips. They can both brighten up a room instantly." She hopped off the stool and pointed out each of the flowers as she spoke.

Rex came bumbling down the stairs, surprisingly without Tex. The two seemed to be rarely apart, but they were definitely a lot more work together then they were apart, but Richard had an inkling that Tex would not be far behind. He also had an inkling that Rex was up to no good. He knew the kids well enough to know when they were up to no good, which was always. He loved the kids, but they were a piece of work. But, Richard felt bad for the two. It was hard to be without their mother, he knew from personal experience.

Before he could say good morning, Rex had already dropped a lizard on Camilla's back. "Damnit Rex!" he boomed as Camilla jumped, dropping the bottle of wine on the floor. Camilla didn't seem to be too upset about it, handing the Lizard back to Rex. Cursing, Richard walked over to the broom and mop, not even sure where to start. "It's fine - Rex, help me clean this up," he said through clenched teeth. He really really needed a drink right now. "And you better tell Camilla you are very sorry," he growled.

Tex

The young boy was slumbering softly in his own bed across from his twin brother's bed. He was dreaming of their mom getting better so that they could be a family again and play together it felt so realistic like that she was actually there with them, but suddenly the dream stopped as he heard Rex call his name and a hand pushing him around. His eyes slowly opening as the bright light peirced into them as well as the lizard in his brother's hand, a sly grin appeared on the young eleven year old's face as he nodded to Rex.

The silent boy quickly pushed up his blanket pulling a glass container with a white sheet coated over it, before making his way down stairs to where his twin was already causing mayhem with out him. Tex smirked as he pulled off the sheet of the glass container with no top, revealing it to be full of rats he has been gathering and dumped the container up side down dumping all the rodents on the ground.

Rex

Rex was too busy at first laughing hysterically at the trouble he caused, he loved watching his teacher freak out. Although she wasn’t as upset as he had hoped he would be, then his uncle got mad and normally to anyone else you would have happily said no, but the truth was he did fear Richard slightly. He also had a little bit of respect for Richard, in the short time they had come to live with him, he seemed to step up more than any man had before.

Mumbling his frustration, Rex went and got the mop and broom, slowly dragging it over as he began to clean up. “I’m sorry….” He said, in more of a mumble than anything else, but he wasted no time in sticking his tongue out at Camilla.

Rex stopped mopping when Tex came in and poured the rats on the floor, he began laughing again and gave his brother a soft Pat on the back, leaning in to whispered to. “Good one, Bro!”

Steve was hoping to be alone with Marielle, so he was a little disappointed when the mailman also arrived. “Ah, good morning Cathal…. I hope you and your cousin are well?” He asked before turning his attention back to Marielle, he smiled sweetly at her. “That sounds perfect! All take a couple bouquets of both! And would you mind delivering? I’ve got a hecktic day ahead of me….”

Even though they were in the presence of the mailman, Steve took this opportunity to try and ask Marielle out. “Say, Marielle….. I was wondering if you might have time to come over to the café with me…..” Suddenly his cheeks turned red and he let out a small cough. “I mean, as friends of course….”

Rina returned the hug happily, stepping aside to let Esther inside her humble home, closing the dark wooden door behind her. "Thank you, that would be the pie!" the auburnish haired girl thanked as she sat at the table. The pie they would never get to eat from where it sat covered like a crim sceen. "Would you like anything to drink Esther?" she questioned her friend as she sat across from the nurse.

"Crumbos, and Swift are doing fine! But Bagelina has stopped producing milk recently. I Think she might be sick, though she's eating a'lot less." she paused with her words full of concern, "I was going to head over to the ranch later to ask Bryan after I stop by the general store Swift ate my hose again, to see if he knows what's wrong with her, but now that you're here I might not have too."

"Yeah well next time at least pass out in your own bed, you weigh a ton. I'm leaving ya where you are next time." Willow looked over at Bryan when he walked in. "Well hey farm boy, what you need?" She looked over To Camilla when she finally spoke. "I'm doing good" She said smiling. Just then she noticed Rex about drop something down Camilla's back. "Rex!" He called out his name but it was already to late. Willow watched as Camilla screamed and dropped the bottle. "Oh great...." She let Richie handle it. Sometimes she would but she didn't feel like dealing with them. As she was watching the two guys clean up she looked down and noticed something then screamed. "Ahhhh!" She stood on the bar. "There are rats everywhere!!" Now Willow was usual not the type to scream like that but she did not like rats.

Neither Marielle or Steve noticed that Cathal was trying to flirt with them. A shame. "Oh, we're right as rain, love," Cathal said in answer, fishing Marielle's bundle of mail out of his bag. He clucked his tongue, sounding rather like his grandmother, as he listened to Steve attempt to ask Marielle out and then backtrack. "If you're going to ask a lady out, you ought to commit to it," he said. "Otherwise you're sending mixed messages. It's very rude."

Camilla nodded at Richard before sitting down and taking off her shoe, sure enough there was a piece of glass imbedded in her foot and she sighed."could I trouble you for some tweezers?" She looked up when Rex mumbled his apology and smiled kindly at him when finished by sticking out his tongue. She heard Tex come down but thought little of it until she heard Willows shout. At seeing the rats she suddenly became stern and serious, "I've warned you both on the dangers of catching wild animals!" Ignoring the pain she stood up and gave them both a hardball stare, "explain yourselves now."

Richard Bell Bertrand

Richard sighed at Rex sticking his tongue out at Camilla, giving her an apologetic look even though she hadn't seemed especially upset despite having glass in her foot. Richard winced as she removed her shoe, revealing a bit of glass in her foot and a bit of blood dripping down. He didn't really like blood, although he supposed no one was a real fan of it. "I don't know if I have any tweezers," he said, rubbing his forehead, stressed.

A scream made him jump. It had come from Willow. For a second he wondered if he had ever heard her scream before. She wasn't easily startled. That was when he saw the rats scurrying along the floor, coming out of the container held by Tex. Richard felt his blood begin to boil, so angry he couldn't even speak. Camilla had jumped up to scold them, but she was not taking it seriously enough for him. How was he going to get rats out of a place where they serve food? What if people found out there were rats here? For christ sake, at least three people here had seen them be released. "Rex...Tex..." he said through gritted teeth, trying not to cause a scene. "Get out, okay?" he said, barely able to even form the words. A rat scuttled by him, and he slammed his foot down on the creatures tail, picking it up and walking to the door, tossing it out - not lightly, might I add. He was going to need to get some rat traps later.

He walked back over to the counter, picking up another bottle of wine and setting it on the counter. "Here you go, Camilla," he said shortly. "I do not have any tweezers, but Willow might," he said, picking up a bottle of vodka from the counter and taking it into the back room. As soon as he was out of sight of the others, he popped off the top and downed several mouthfuls, before dropping it from his lips and cringing at the sting. As the warmth filled his body, he felt a bit "better"... if you could really call it that.

Marielle's smile widened as she nodded. "Excellent. I'll gather and ring them up. And I wouldn't mind delivering them at all." She walked over to where the tulips were and began gathering enough for two bouquets. She then moved on to the carnations to do the same. "Hm?" She glanced back at Steve. "I'm not sure, actually. I might have some time after I check on Isabelle later today..." Saying her niece's name made her remember something. She turned her attention to Cathal. "Oh! Cathal, has anything from my sister arrived? Isabelle's been asking and I've been wondering myself."
