Fantasy Malachi Mortoni's Wandering Alchemical Academy

"Well, with all the people around it'd be best if I hold onto the back of your robe so we don't get too lost. Once I know where my dorm is, I should be able to explore the place a little." Paris smiled and nodded. "If you don't mind, that is."

Corain Valencia

As they shuffled into line, Corain felt a little bad for having just left Scarlett without saying an actual farewell. I guess it's a lot harder to actually be social when you're in a group than when you're on the outside looking in. His thoughts were interrupted as another Hydro bumped into him, throwing him off-balance and sending them both toppling over. "Well, I guess that's karma for you, isn't it?" He said, brushing himself off for the second time that day, though this time he had been on the receiving end of the fall. He looked to the girl who had fallen over him, helped her up and asked, "Are you alright, miss? I seen to be attracting all kinda of accidents today." He was about to introduce himself to her, but a call from Gwen up ahead turned all of the students' attentions to the front as she announced that they would now be off to a tour of the school campus. He turned back to the girl, "Looks like we gotta be on our way now, but we're in the same classes, I'm sure we'll talk again later." He smiled at her and then shuffle into the guys' side of the group, ready to go. Even if he already knew this campus by heart, this was part of the experience, he was finally seeing it through a student's eyes.

Gwendolyn Valencia

The students all appeared to be in order before her. The bickering teachers had ceased arguing, though she was sure she would hear of it from one or the other before the end of the day. But she had no time to waste now, they could be here days before anything happened on its own.

"Now then, everyone, please stay close, as this tour will go rather quickly, though it will still take several hours to complete. The less disruption, the sooner you are on your own time, understand? Let's be off." She strode ahead of the group, not waiting to see if they followed, that was their choice and the other teacher's duty to see that it happened. "First of all, you have just left Mortoni Auditorium, the first original building on this campus..." She spent several minutes talking over its history, as if she had been there with Mortoni himself as it was being built. The facts in and of themselves weren't important, but it was better than talking about nothing and letting the time pass on in silence.

She led the students across the cobbled streets, pointing out various minor buildings, such as the smithy, the creature stables, the farmer's market. "We have several small wilderlands here at Mortoni's, a dense patch of forest to the east of the main campus, a sandy plateau off to the south, the mountain range to the north, and the lake over to the west." She pointed in each direction as she spoke of them, then went into details about the various kinds of plants and animals in each area, from the mountain eagles to the desert wild roses. "You may use each area for training as you see fit, but only in a group or under a teacher's supervision. We have an almost perfect non-hospitalization record here at The Academy, and we would like to keep it that way." She turned to each group in turn, eying them as if she expected the students to start setting another on fire or drowning each other right then and there.

"We may visit each of those areas later, but for now we will stay here on-campus. Our next stop is the Main Library." She pointed to the largest tower on campus, it was enormously round, with chill marble walls and several large windows on each level. "Here is where you will be studying mostly, when you are not doing field work or literal practice. The teacher's offices are located at the back of the first floor, but all of the other four floors are covered in as many books as you could read in a lifetime, so choose your materials wisely. Leading students may become Assistant Librarians, which is a high honour on this campus, as you will have access to many upper-level spellbooks and other materials that other may never get the chance to see." She led them inside, the ceiling was very tall and wall-to-wall covered with books, tomes and scrolls. The middle of the room had several smaller bookcases, and assorted tables and chairs for students to relax as they studied or pleasure read. A stairway to the left curved with the wall, leading up into the second floor, which Gwendolyn assure them was just as large, and there were two more levels on top of both of these.

Gwen led the students outside again, down a nearby street and towards a large square structure. It was shaped as in a Parthenon-style building, simply a flat, rectangular floor surrounded around the edges with pillars, and a slanted roof laid on top of these, at least a hundred-feet about their heads. "This is the Magician's Court. As you can see," she pointed to the many older students inside, many of whom were practicing harmless spells on each other, or more damaging spells against magical mannequins and other targets that rose from the floor, "This is the designated area for spell practice when classes are in session. You are allowed to come here in you free time as well, though you will need a teacher to activate the mannequins for you if you wish to use them. There are many different exercises and variety of targets to use, so don't be shy of asking what is available."

She led them past a rather large but plain building next, explaining that it was the cafeteria, where they were to take their meals. "Students will be divided by years, but not by elements, so feel free to make friends amongst yourselves. First year Aspirants take the east wall and get to eat ahead of the other students, as long as you have your student identification on your person. Meal times are promptly at 8:30am, 12:30pm, and 6:30pm. If you are hungry between meals, there are several shops in the district square that may accommodate you, though you will have to pay with your student credit, and school meals are free."

She led them one last time to a tall apartment-style building, next to another that was exactly identical, with a shorter but neater looking building nestled in the space between them. "These are your dormitories, males on the left, females on the right. The teachers dormitories are the building in between, and they have connecting doors to both dorms from there as well. Males are not allowed in the female dormitory, and vice versa, anyone caught in the others' dorm will receive a severe warning, and if it happens a second time, being expelled is not out of the question." She cast a glaring look at all of her students, but then her face brightened and she smiled, "I hope you all will enjoy your time here, there is much to learn, both from your teacher's experience, and from each other. If you have any questions or concerns, you may always talk to myself or one of the other staff here. You are now released until dinner, I suggest you find your dorm room, unpack and get to know your roommate in the meantime. You all should have received notice of both your room number and your roommate before now, so I will leave you all to it. And, welcome to Mortoni's Alchemical Academy!" She raised her hands and her voice slightly at this last, smiling and gesturing that the students were now free to go about their moving in. As the students dispersed, she lowered her arms and waited to see if they had any questions for her before they left on their own.

As Gwendolyn said her final line and strode off to show the students around the campus, Scarlett caught herself in jumping up and down in excitement. She immediately stopped with a slight blush, and peeked over the heads of the pyromagoi-students ahead of her. With pointed ears, she listened carefully to what Gwendolyn said. She felt a little bad for leaving Corain so fast, but she was sure their paths would cross later on. A student behind her stepped on her heels, bringing her back. She muttered an annoyed sound and looked over her shoulder with a mean look, leaving the student behind her to pause a few steps before continuing at a slower pace. Her concentrated listening trailed off as Gwen started talking about the history of the campus, but as soon as actual information came up, she immediately turned her attention back on. Terrified to miss valuable information, she made sure to repeat the things she found important in her head to remember it for later. It was a shame she had forgotten to bring something to take notes on, but ohwell. That would be for later.

As they finally reached the Magicians' Court, she wanted to sit down as her feet were getting a bit tired from all the walking across campus. Though when Gwendolyn mentioned the use of the room out of class, she caught herself smiling slyly. Her perfect way of learning, trying and failing. This was the perfect place for her to be! She would definetely take this opportunity later. For now, she'd concentrate on getting as much information about her whereabouts so she wouldnt have to ask stupid questions such as "Where's the dining hall?" or "How do I get to the girls' dormitory?". She forced back a smile at her own thoughts, and ignored the ongoing chatter about her.

When they reached the final stage of the tour, Scarlett felt some of her newbie excitement leave her body. She was officially a student of the Malachi Mortoni Academy. A grin widened across her face and she clutched her hands in excitement. As the crowd of students scattered about her, in different attempts to find their dorm-rooms and room-mates, she was left standing with clod of excitement spreading through her chest and tummy once again. She turned around abruptly, and walked into another first-year student with wide eyes. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to do that, I'm just clumsy. Are you okay?" she said with a surprised tone.

(@ basically anyone. ^.^)

Paris gripped the material of Phoenix's robe firmly and followed him as they were led on a tour through the Academy. Books, great... He was starting to partially regret coming here, reading wasn't really something he was adapt at. He'd never really liked books.

"This place sounds quite nice." He commented quietly. "Doubt I'll be spending much time in the library. I've always learned better from doing things."

((BECAUSE I'm online, I'll take that tag for myself.))

Saphire had been silent the entire time, mostly watching headmistress talk and memorizing the various locations. Of course she wasn't being crushed anymore, but she was also once more being ignored. A soft sigh was her only reaction to this, she was used to it. The end of the tour led them to the dorms, for which she was grateful... she wanted out of these robes and into a kimono or something... anything less... bright. Suddenly she bumped into someone, she had red hair and vibrant purple eyes. The red robes identified her as a pyromagi, which was both impressive and surprising, considering her calm reaction to being bumped into. I thought they were all hot-headed. "No, it was my fault. Most people don't notice me, so I should have paid more attention to where I was going."

@Traceless

Scarlett swifltly straightened her robe and smiled gently at the girl. Admiring the girls very long hair, whom she identified as an aero-magoi student by the color of her robe, she shook her head. "It was my fault, I should've watched where I was going." she said with a short laugh and extended her hand. "I'm Scarlett." she introduced herself. It wouldnt hurt being nice. She needed to make some friends here, so she attempted to appear like a kind person. Not that she wasnt, but her brutal honesty would often bring her into awkward situations she'd rather not be in. She swallowed her comment on how difficult the girls' hair would be to keep in order, and her curiosity on if it would slow her down during a fight.

@SaphireTsuki

"Saphire. A pleasure to meet you." She took the offered hand, still slightly surprised by the mostly pleasant conversation she was having. Unpleasant because her side still hurt a bit from being bumped into, but it was a normal occurrence and she didn't let it get to her any more. "I don't suppose you know how you were found to be a Pyromagi, do you?" It still surprised her that she had been chosen to be one. It had surprised her utterly when she'd been found to be one, more so when she'd gotten the letter of acceptance.

"Likewise." she replied with a nod and shook Saphires' hand shortly before releasing it. She enjoyed how she didnt have to force a smile or feel awkwardly forced to find a subject to conversate about, even though she had walked straight into the girl. It felt natural, and she felt a grin widen across her face. "I have no idea, but I was pleasantly surprised! And on top of that, I love the color of this robe. It goes well with my hair." she answered jokingly, still grinning and pointing at her golden robe. A feeling of relief washed over her. Maybe it would be easy to find people she'd get along with after all. "We should probably get ourselves settled in our dorms. You wanna meet up for dinner though?" Scarlett added, noticing the shortage of students about them.

(@SaphireTsuki . I'm headed to bed, so figured I'd end the convo before getting you stuck in my absence! :) )

"Certainly... if you can find me." She had always been surprised by people not noticing her in a crowd... despite the oddly colored hair. Saphire nodded, she had to meet her roommate still anyway. And change. Because orange? It may complement her hair, but it had to be hurting someone's eyes seeing such bright colors all together in one place. "I'm going to find room #4, I guess I'll see you around, Scarlet."

((No worries. I don't mind you having to go to bed.))

Phoenix fallowed the crowd so taken by excitement by the end he had forgotten that Paris was still tagging along. The voice of the blind boy made him jump at the realization he was still there. Phoenix turned himself to face him once Gwendolyn finished the tour. "This is a huge place." he said looking around at the endless land in the sky. It was unlike anything he had ever seen, this sights wouldn't get boring anytime soon.

His exited thoughts quickly left when the realization that he would be in a dorm with someone else dawned on him. He was used to having his own space, sure his old room was small but it was still his. Hopefully his roommate would be decent, though the thought of having two pyros in the same living space didn't seem like a great idea to him. Those where issues that could be solved later right now he needed to help Paris. "I'm in no hurry to get to my room. I can help you to yours if you would like?" he spoke to Paris looking at his blank eyes.

"Oh, I'll find you! Don't worry. I'll yell for you if I can't seem to find you." she said with a joyful laugh, waving as she pulled up her note on her dorm-room. Room 3, huh? She wondered who this person she was going to spend her years here would be, and what class she would be in. She walked to the girls-dorm building, and scanned the area for a Room 3. She had completely forgotten about the light-weight bag she was carrying over her shoulder during the tour of the school. This place was huge, it would take hours and maybe days to enter every single room and place on this campus. "Room 3." she sighed, and stopped in front of a door with that number engraved on it. She took a deep breath, and enterred the room with mixed feelings. She took the bag off her shoulder, carrying it with one hand instead. Would the other girl be there? And what would her room look like? Could she choose bedside first?

He followed along happily taking mental note of how the ground felt, where the textures changed, the differences in echos and external sounds. These would be his queues in getting around the academy.

"Actually, if you don't mind, that'd be great." He nodded and smiled. "It'll be a lot easier to be led there at least once."

The guy I ran into asked if I was alright.I told him yes. Hey was about to introduce him self but then Gwen called everyone to line up and he said that we could maybe talk later. So everyone lined up and she took us the tour of the school. Then after that I went to do find my dorm and meet my room mate.

Corain went through the tour, like every other student. He already knew the campus by heart, this had been his playground as a kid. But, he still felt obligated to stay with the group, he wanted to not be treated as "The Principal's Kid" but just another student their age. It was childish, he knew, but he wanted the chance to earn his friends for himself, not have everyone trying to gain his friendship so he'd have his mother grant them favors. He was bound and determined to make his own way these next coming years.

The tour was finished, finally, and he went immediately to his room, a little sorry to find that his roommate was not here yet. "Ah well, we're bound to run into each other at some point. I hope he doesn't mind if I pick my side of the room first." He went over to the left side room, each student had a separated bedroom, though it only held a bed and a closet wardrobe. Each of them had a window, too, so the rooms felt open and airy, even if they were small. Corain began to throw his robes off, preferring to wear his more simple clothes than the constricting robe, which was only necessary for certain occasions. "Well, I hope my roommate comes around soon, or it may be dinner bell by then," he chuckled to himself.

Finding the room wasn't to hard. Phoenix smiled when he realized his room was next to Paris, at least he would be close by to someone he talked to. "Here ya go. Looks like I'm right next to you." he smiled at Paris forgetting he couldn't see it. Phoenix took in the sight of his new home, the future was bright.

@Solitaire

Cameron walked into his dorm, and saw his roommate "Hi!" He said as he went over to the left side of the room and layed on is bed, he took out a book and began to read it. Showing he was just not interested in anything else, but in all reality he was hoping to get a conversation in with his roomie.

"This must be it" she said to herself and walked in. But her roommate wasn't there yet. "Oh she's not here oh well guess i can wait." She changed into her usual black dress and unpacked her things.

@Madi

"Oh, hey that's good then." Paris grinned. "Does that mean they don't segregate us according to what element we control?" Phoenix didn't come across as an earth magoi to the blind youth, then again he just could be wrong. "Anyway, I guess I should go and unpack, then I might explore the grounds a bit."

Scarlett had put her bags away in her bedroom, and had been sitting there for what seemed like an hour without her room-mate showing up. Bored, she got up and puffed hair out of her face. She looked down at the golden robe she was still wearing, deciding to change in to something more.. Personal. As she took the robe off, it revealed a black top with white decorations and a knee-length skirt with splits on both sides, up to her hips, decorated with what seemed like laces and black, simple boots to match. Content with her outfit, she decided to get the robe inside her wardrobe before exploring the campus. She got the room-key out of her bag, and left it on her bed to be unpacked later on. Sighing, she locked up the room behind her before setting her course towards the courtyard she had been in just a moment ago.

Corain saw his new roommate come in, throwing himself down upon the other bed across the room. He had immediately taken out a book, but not before calling out a greeting. "Hi, so we're gonna be stuck together, huh?" He said this cheerfully, so as not to make it seem like he disliked his roommate. In fact, he was glad that his new friend was already studying, he seemed like a decent kid, what could be wrong with someone who liked to read, right? "How about a little 'get to know you' session?" Corain sat up on his bed, holding out his hand to his new roommate. "My name's Corain, I'm a first year Hydromagus and I like the colour aquamarine." He kept his hand outstretched, nodding towards his roommate to take it if he wished and share some about himself.

@HollyLeafForever

"I guess they want us to become well mixed. Makes for better education I guess." Phoenix said. He patted Paris on the shoulder "Nice meeting you Paris. I guess I should probably do the same. Getting to know this place better will help." Phoenix waved as he walked into his room forgetting the blindness of his new acquaintance.

Upon opening his room door he noticed it was empty. He walked in and closed the door behind him. He would like the room to be a bit more colorful but it would do. "I should probably unpack now." He said aloud. This brought the realization to him he had forgotten his bag in the auditorium. He hung his head back and looked at the ceiling with a sigh before walking back to grab them, hoping he didn't forget the way.

As Scarlett enterred the courtyard between the different dorms, she took her precious time to gaze upon the environments to make sure she wouldnt get lost later on. This place was huge, and would probably take hours upon hours to explore. Scarlett brushed some hair away from her face, tucking it behind her ear. There were a few students in the courtyard, but they all seemed busy doing their own thing so she started wandering at a slow pace, arms crossed. She came to think of the training room, with the target-dolls, and tried rememberring where it was. It was the first place she wanted to check out.

Paris took his sweet time fumbling around his new room, getting to know where everything was and knowing he'd probably bump into a lot of it in the next few days. Once he was comfortable enough with knowing where things were, he started the slow task of putting his belongings away. There was no rush, he had to make sure he knew where everything was.
