Fantasy Magi: Magic Arising

(The fire arrow hit the grass nearby, not the warehouse. The fire is slowly spreading towards the warehouse though. Also, the person that was on the brute's back was a woman, Leandra)

Manjano mentally cursed himself, as his fire arrow skimmed past the charging brute and lit up the nearby grassy field. Watching for a few seconds as the fire began to spread along the neighboring trees and heading towards the nearby warehouse, Manjano shifted his focus back to the fight at hand, quickly nocking a normal arrow and sending it towards the same brute, now aiming for his abdomen and hopefully some important inner organs. Perhaps the fire nearby could help in distracting the guy long enough for Manjano to get a crippling shot in.

Leandra grinned when the brute reacted to the pain from her daggers, but the grin quickly disappeared when the man tipped over backwards and landed with a thud...on top of Leandra's abdomen and chest. Feeling several of her ribs breaking at once, Leandra shrieked in pain, her mind clouded in the pain. Closing her eyes tightly, Leandra cursed out loud and weakly attempted to pull one of her daggers out of the man's shoulders, but couldn't manage it while in so much pain. In the midst of the chaos, Leandra slowly opened her teary eyes only to be blinded as the pendant around her neck suddenly activated. After the initial flash of blinding light, Leandra was surprised to see that one of her hands that was still gripping her dagger had just become engulfed in flames. Blinking at this, Leandra began waving her hand about to get the fire to go out, but it wouldn't go. She could feel her skin burning and shrieked again before getting a sudden, and desperate, idea amidst the terrifying moment. Desperate to get the man off of her, Leandra quickly let go of her dagger and slapped her hand against the side of the brute's face, holding onto him now, as she hoped to burn him and either kill him or get him off of her.

Hearing his sister's shriek of pain, Manjano instantly looked away from his current fight and his eyes widened when he saw the brute on top of Leandra. Sprinting towards her, Manjano nocked an arrow and got ready to stop and fire it when he was suddenly blinded by a bright flash. Blinking to regain his vision quickly, Manjano skidded to a halt...only to slip on a puddle of water that seemingly came out of nowhere. Yelping in surprise, Manjano fell onto his back, gasping at the sudden jolt. Looking at the sky now, Manjano was absolutely baffled as to where the water had just come from. Getting to his knees, Manjano looked over at his sister to see her attacking the brute on top of her with fire. Where the heck did she just get fire from? Manjano was the only one with the lighter. What was going on here?

Ren didn't expect that the giant would attack his rapier and this attack easily knocked the rapier out of his hands as it skidded away from the two of them. Ren jumped back from another attack made by the giant and quickly pulled out his daggers. Out of the corner of his eye he could see fire slowly but surely spreading on the warehouse..... Ren charged at the giant but suddenly he disappeared from sight.... Even Ren was baffled by this as he went behind the giant and reappeared to drive both of his daggers In his back and slice sideways. He rolled away from a sweep attack made by the giant.

Ren needed to finish this fight quickly but he was much too baffled by the sudden disappearance that he just decided to take a defensive approach. He would counter anything that the giant would throw at him.

Adeline Reuvan

Adeline flinched at the sudden bright light from Rocquel's pendant as well as her own. She felt a generous amount of energy pumped into her, assuming it was harmless magic of some sort, she didn't panic. The prince, who she now recognise as Royce, asked (or maybe challenged) everyone:

"Ready?"

Before she could react or ask what exactly should she be ready for, Haru beat her to it with a rather unrequired panic in his tone.

"Ready to get out of here? Ready to die? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!"

She didn't blame him for panicking as she was having doubts and questions of her own. Royce smirked slightly before his face became serious again.
"Calm down! Didn’t I say earlier that everything is going to be alright? We’re going to get out of here."

"Everything will be alright? Oh, I’m sorry I must’ve missed that over the sound of someone being TORTURED!" Haru yelled. It's official: Haru has panic attacks like Adeline does but his are more... louder and pesky. Hers is just plain unnecessary.

"Shut up Blondie I’m fine!" Dexter yelled at the man next to him. He then turned to Royce and said, "I’m assuming all these pendants are magical, right? Well how in the hell are we supposed to use them?!"

No longer paying attention to Haru, Adeline waited for the answer to that question which she was disappointed at shortly after.
'Do I want to use my magic?' she asked herself. 'Well, it's better than doing nothing is it not?'

Think about it? About magic? Unsure what to do, she simply thought:
'Magic'. Nothing happened and she sighed in disappointment. She then glanced over to Dexter who was trailing off about something.

Then, something was shining from the center of the room and Adeline closed eyes, just in case it was something she wouldn't want to see. Adeline opened an eye to take a peek at what was happening, realizing her arms has dropped to her side and she sigh. It still felt numb but she wanted to get out of here, out of this bloody mess she found herself involved in.

'Get up Ad!' her conscience encouraged. 'I'm trying, but my arms are numb!' she protested. She suddenly was able to push herself off the ground rather gracefully. "H-h... I didn't.." Adeline murmured, looking at the ground where she stood up from while clutching her wrists where the ropes previously were. She twirled to take a closer look at the man who freed her. He was obviously old but definitely... healthy. When he introduced himself, she had to resist the urge to gape in astonishment. "Aiken" she repeated softly, the words posing in her mouth. '200 years?' Adeline pondered before her thoughts barged in. 'It's impossible. There's no way a guy can be such an age' it remarked. 'You're right Alice' Adeline replied, conveniently naming her conscience after her middle name.

'You finally name me' Adeline heard it grumble with false enthusiasm. When the man held the door, she took her first step towards it but was startled at what she suddenly visioned. Every single atom is a tiny particle in every single piece of earth has possibilities, possibilities to connect and create. She envisioned it all for a split second before recomposing herself and noticed Royce's difficulty walking ob his own. She walked towards him and offered a smile and a hand.

"Let me help you" she said as if it was a declaration of some sort but only Royce could hear her as she was taking up such a quiet tone. She placed the tall man's arm around her shoulder gently. Upon much closet inspection, Adeline can definitely appreciate how young he looks though he's definitely not as young as she is. About 5 or 6 years older perhaps. "And I won't take a no for an answer..."

Leo Cainez

The moment the lad accepted his hand and pulled him to his feet, Leo could feel the secret delight as his eyes lit up in satisfaction, despite the blank expression his face still wore. He stared back as the lad locked eyes to him, seemingly finally to agree to accompany him, due to their common...goal. Leo nodded, before one of his eyebrows twitched ever so slightly as the other mentioned that maybe he could prevent him from getting killed. In another word...Protect? Is that perhaps an insult? But maybe he did not look strong enough to not be considered weak. Flinching slightly, Leo let out a tiny sigh, "I...Can perfectly defend myself, but thank you for the offer." His voice seemed soft as he glanced away from the lad.

Upon hearing the other finally saying his name, however, he seemed rather pleased, a light smile unexpectedly forming onto his face to at last get to know the other's name. Although there is a slight disappointment that this erased any reason for Leo to continue calling him"Mr. White Bunny," he still found himself to respond back rather friendly. "My name is Leo...Leo Cainzes. Nice to meet you once again."

A pause, Leo was about to continue his friendly greeting to his "partner" that he has finally gotten back, before finally, he started to notice the growing chaotic atmosphere that's happening around him. No, it wasn't chaotic, rather....

His sharp senses immediately felt the growing unusualness in the air, before his eyes caught the suddenly blasting glows from several people out there in the crowd. He could hear here and there the yells and gasps of surprise and confusion, although he himself felt the same. Looking around, he was in search of the source of the glow from those people before his own pendant emit a powerful, purple light that almost blinded his sight. His eyes immediately squeezing tight, it was only moments later that he managed to open it again, then grabbing the pendant right the same second he stared at it, amused, the feeling of a weird sense of power seemingly spreading through him as the pendant once again let out its familiar warm, mysterious glow, the same glow thst persuaded him to come to this town.

What happened...Just now? Overwhelmed by questions, his curiosity for the pendant deepened so very fast that it took him a moment to drag himself out from this mystery before other thoughts found its way to kick into his mind. That's right! He's not alone. Zero...the lad...he has the same pendant too. And so did the other people who let out similar lights. Is this in any way related to that mysterious woman? Sepitus, perhaps? But before so...

"Mr. Bu--Zero," Quick to try to stop himself from calling out the nickname, his eyes landed on the lad. Wearing the same types of pendant, the same thing should've happened to him just now, the strange powerful glow. "Um..." He found himself trying to speak but then suddenly halted, wondering what he should say. Question about the glow? Any indifference in body or sense? He frowned. "...Are you alright?" He asked at last.

"Don't know what just happened...But there's other people with the same pendants...It seem. Sounds like a nice idea if we all gather together with that woman to see if we can figure out exactly what's going on." Without any ideas of what exactly is happening out there, why the pendant suddenly exploded with the light and why there's more people out there with the same thing, along with where exactly they are and what's actually happening while he's here trying to persuade this lad to come with him, this is the best plan he could come up with, unless the other has better. Th most important thing is to get a clear understanding of what's exactly going on, right?

As he thought so, he heard a familiar yelp as Eldo, his fox, suddenly jumped back onto his shoulder. Blinking, he suddenly remembered he did tell some people to wait for him. Are they still there? He wondered, but deciding to focus on what's in front of him for now. Looking at Zero, who seemed to be walking away just moments ago, he spoke, "Let's go?"

(I missed out on a lot of stuffs while I'm gone, and I didn't get a chance to read through every replies and only scanned through it. Thus, I might missed out some important stuffs so I hope this reply is okay! Tell me if I need anything fixed. OwO @Hales and sorry for the wait! @Archangel )

Ciara Neara Albaria

Arythrin:The Warehouse

Murderer

He's dodging . . . Ciara was impressed to the say the least. Not only was the arrow still logged in his knee, but the added weight of the rabid girl on his back didn't seem to faze him at all. She knew that his endurance was something to behold after simply seeing the way he fought, but sustaining that much damage and still being able to move . . . That was something else. Clearly, she'd underestimated the man. Her eyes widened slightly as she realized that he wasn't necessarily dodging her attack, as inflicting damage upon the girl latched onto his back. There was no concern about dodging or blocking, simply doing as much damage as he could. He was what he would refer to as a berserker in any other situation. His lack of intelligence didn't help in that regard either.

Speaking of the lack of intelligence, apparently he hadn't thought past the act of crushing the girl beneath his weight as it left him completely susceptible to Ciara. She knew that she needed to deal with him quickly and efficiently before he could pull of any other moves of amazing stamina and do more damage to the poor lass stuck beneath him. Closing the distance would take too long and a simple downward strike could easily go awry and hit the one who had tried to help her, something she wanted to avoid at all costs. It wouldn't be heroic at all. Unfortunately, time was not in her favor so she let her body react to the first thought that came to her mind after that. It was a trick shot of sorts more meant to impress than to be used in actual combat, but it fit the situation perfectly in this case. She lashed out in an upward arc with one of her chains and almost in the same instance, swung down and back with the other. With a flick of her wrist she pulled the first chain back towards her. The resulting maneuver let the momentum of the two chains collide, altering the deadly tip of the first chains path. Even if Mavis had tried to move his head to evade it, it was coming at a completely different angle now. The speared tip thudded into the man's muscled neck and without waiting a moment, Ciara twisted in a spin and ducked, pulling it free in a brutal motion to sever his jugular. If he wasn't dead from the initial strike, he'd be dead in seconds from blood loss and lack of oxygen to his brain. It was brutal, violent, and messy. She couldn't help but think she may be vague on details about that part and hoped the girl under him didn't mind the blood too much.

Thankfully, Ciara didn't have time to truly process what she'd just done as a burst of white light flooded the warehouse. It wasn't a physical thing, but it felt physical. It washed over her and felt like it was pushing her back, like the fiery light of an explosion, aside from the burning heat. No, it was quite different all in all. It was an odd sensation to be sure, but one her poor mind couldn't properly understand before it left. As her vision cleared, she found herself on her backside, sitting on the floor of the warehouse. Apparently she'd fallen back during the flash of white. Wiping the sweat from her brow, she took note of the second thing: her pendant was glowing. "What in-" She wasn't even sure how to finish her question of disbelief. It took several more moments before she noted other glows from around the warehouse. Including one that most definitely was not from a pendant, but from the flames that were quickly devouring the grass and wood of the warehouse. "Shit! Fire!" She shouted, calling out to the surprising number of people in the area. With renewed vigor, she rushed over to the body of Mavis and started helping the girl out from under it.

And it was such a nice warehouse too . . .))

Zero Aldaine

~ Still Arythrin, surprisingly enough ~

Zero's steps froze as soon as he saw light explode, one by one, from people in the crowd. He felt a sudden surge of energy, but before he could do anything, his too erupted into the sky. It was a shifting, dusky golden glow, dashed with bright, liquid streaks of whiter energy. It seemed to swiftly twine itself up his arms, spiralling upwards, stirring his hair in its wake. It felt cold and warm at the same time, yet somehow deep and ethereal. Magic.

He could feel it on his tongue, in the very air around him, sparking across his skin. But he quickly grabbed it, trying to hide the light still pouring from between his fingers. The second he touched it, his world went black. For the strangest moment, he felt like he was floating in something outside all reality and laws of nature, beyond time and human understanding. Everything was still. Nothing moved in the darkness of eternity, stretching on into infinity.

But then the street came back to him once more; he had only been out for the briefest moment, yet it took all his self control just to remain standing. He wobbled, his eyes wide and his pulse frantic. His head whipped around as soon as he heard Leo address him, trying to keep his legs from giving out, fighting down the urge to throw up as his world spun. He took a few quick breaths, reviving himself quickly before he gave a curt nod.

"Never been better." he muttered breathlessly, voice laced subtly with sarcasm as he raked a hand back through his white locks, steadying his breathing. He nodded absentmindedly as Leo talked, eyes fixed on the cobbled streets under his feet, gathering up his shattered thoughts.

As soon as he looked up, though, he immediately saw the girl in the dress the same colour as his hair running barefoot between the tables. She, too, wore a pendant, surrounded by a green glow. Another woman followed closely behind her, and her intentions didn't look pleasant. He suddenly recognised her as the one from before.

"Leo." he called, sending a glance his way, noticing his fox for the first time before looking back to the chase. "It's her."

(I'm so sorry it's so late (and kinda short, I'm in a rush '^^)! And I just found Zero's unofficial theme tune, as well..

For the fabulous @SilverBlack, and I do believe I mentioned you, @Hales!)

Leo Cainez

Blinking, not catching on immediately with what Zero just said, Leo stood there frozen for a moment as he slowly absorbed the scene around him. The weird surge of energy didn't seem to have left his body yet as he felt the warmness of the pendant against his skin, thus distracting his sense of mind despite his own words of going. He felt that he has just gotten some new power...As if something magical has entered his body and is not going to leave. Leo has no idea what's going to happen to him, what the pendant has done to him, but he's sure that nothing around him has changed. He's still in the same place, surrounded by the same voices...And by the different glows of lights from different people around him. And, somehow expected to him, they all seemed to come from the same source--the pendants they're wearing.

When Leo finally recognized the woman Zero is talking about, his eyes located her almost the same second of his recognition. That identical mysterious woman who was just moments ago slipping away from the crowd, leaving behind an aura of elegance and beauty, now chased another lady with quite the wildness, and displeasure seemingly shown on her face. Leo's eyes then glanced toward the lady she's chasing, another madam, whose heels are kicked off, fiercely attempting to escape from her pursuer. For a moment, Leo stood there, studying the situation, before realizing that both of them equipped the pendants, both of them emitting a powerful light. Yet while one of them seemed utterly desperate with her glowing green pendant, the other seemed to have not quite good the intention with her own powerful glow.

"Let's stop her," whatever the real situation behind everything is, Leo went back to his instinct. Perhaps it's for the lady's good and helping her escape out his own nice nature, or simply his own desire to stop the mysterious woman and get what's going on, although it didn't seem to be a good time to politely stop her and tell her that they need a talk or two to learn of what just happened. Leo was about to run through a plan in his mind on what's the wisest thing to do, before Eldo his fox seemingly jumped into the whole mess and to the middle of the chase due to his own excited nature. Blinking, Leo's eyes widened in surprise as the possible dangers of his fox struck him.

"Come back, Eldo, it's too dangerous for you there!" He called out in a frantic as Eldo finally realized the situation he has just gotten himself in as he whimpered suddenly at the sight of the scary mysterious woman.

"Zero, let's go," no longer caring about much of what will happen, Leo darted forward and lunged himself into the middle of the pursuit, fluently picking up his fox, which quickly found its way to snuggle against his neck, then, with the other hand, reached to his waist to pick up three throwing knives. With trained accuracy, he threw three of them in one go, yet each in a different position---focusing mainly on her legs to slow her down, the first two has been to distract her by aiming at her face and chest. The third one did he imply more of his attention on as it shoots right at her right knee.

He looked at Zero with the eyes that clearly said that he better join the fight and help him too. After all, from the earlier "attack" he has given him by throwing him over his shoulders, he has already known that the other might be much stronger than him.

(I don't even know how eyes can say that but here you go! Hope this reply makes sense. I have only scanned through the replies so far so QwQ @Archangel and @Hales )

Aiken Dromdeth, Dexter Hawethorne, Royce Chevlair

Aiken watched as the former prisoners all filed through the door one by one. He passed Royce off to the younger girl who had offered a hand; in all honesty, Aiken didn’t have the patience to deal with a little prince right now so he was quite grateful for not having to carry the boy around everywhere. They’re all children, the thought occurred to him. Do we really expect them to be capable of bringing back the power of the Magi? It certainly doesn’t seem like it.

Laura tore off one of the sleeves on her shirt, using her teeth to rip the fabric into smaller pieces and she carefully offered them to Dexter. “I can wrap those up for you if you’ll let me…” her voice had a new fragility to it. What what happening around them clearly frightened her although she still seemed to have the strength to go on.

Dexter’s eye softened at the young girl who reminded him so much of his sister. “I’d appreciate it.” He held out his bleeding fingers to her. “Thank you, Laura.”

Laura proceeded to, very carefully, use the fabric she had to wrap the bloody tips of his fingers. She made sure that there was pressure there, and her eyes looked up into his eye every so often gauging him to assure that she wasn’t causing any unnecessary pain or discomfort because that would’ve just made her feel terrible. He’s already been tortured enough, she reminded herself. When she had finished, she didn’t say anything; rather, she walked through the door following Adeline and Royce.

Dexter stayed silent as Laura wrapped his fingers. He was still very disoriented from all the far off sounds he was hearing and he didn’t want to compound the problem with ideal conversation. After his fingers were wrapped, he straightened up and walked out of the cell and into the hallway. “Any of you know where they took our belongings?” He asked. “Can’t really fight our way out without weapons.”

Royce had found his sword before Dexter even voiced the question although strapping it to his hip where it was supposed to be was proving to be rather difficult due to his injuries and lack of full range of motion. “Look to your right,” he yelled back to Dexter, keeping the statement simple as he continued to struggle with the buckle before finally snapping it tight. It was rather odd to have it hanging on his hip again and Royce knew he wouldn’t be able to use it - not by a long shot. He dreaded the coming days of retraining himself with the weapon a royal title had bestowed upon him.

Dexter turned and found the weapons lining the wall. He eagerly went and retrieved his bow, quiver of arrows, and his backpack with all his belongings and his precious throwing knives. Finally, he thought. Dexter hated being away from his weapons and he quickly began inspecting his knives to make sure they were still as sharp as ever.

Aiken came in behind the escapees as they were collecting their weapons. “Don’t take long,” he said to them swiftly. “Grab what you need and move on. They will come after us so we can’t carry everything.”

Royce noted something - something odd. There was smoke and the smell of fire. That wasn’t a sensation he had encountered since his imprisonment here; it was not normal and it could not be good. Turning to his comrades, he waved his hand, gesturing for them to get a move on. “Aiken’s right. This place will burn!”

Dexter’s head perked up when he heard the unmistakable sound of crackling fire. “His royal highness is right. I can hear fire in the distance.”

Aiken didn’t bother to check for the reality of their statements. He just began herding all the former prisoners towards the exit with a newfound rush in his step. There were still a few things on the wall that may have belonged to one person or another, but Aiken now knew that they were on a time-crunch so he had to force them to leave these minor things behind.

@GiannaCoco [i’m sorry if I didn’t give you opportunities to reply within this segment, but I’m really trying to get things moving. If you would like me to add anything in for your character, I certainly can.]

Everyone

Piper continued running, constantly looking behind her as she was not putting any distance between herself and the woman in black. In her glance back, she noted something - more glowing from other people who wove their way into the chase that was ensuing and although she couldn’t see faces she began to wonder if the man from earlier had found her again. The question is: will he be any use? He’s a man after all…

As Akira continued to pursue the girl in the white dress, as well as the little girl and man running ahead of her, she noticed another man sprinting after the girl in white and two other men following her. She frowned at her current predicament. While she may be a skilled fighter, even she knew better than to engage that many people at once. She had to cut down their numbers. Her eyes focused and the young girl in front of her. Best to start with the weak link. She pulled out another knife from the satchel on her upper leg and threw it straight for the child’s back.

Maddie continued to hurry down the street with Marion and turned down an alley without warning. Akira’s impeccable aim was thwarted as her knife made impact into Marion’s arm.

Marion suddenly felt a sharp pain in his arm causing him to immediately react. “SON OF A BITCH!!” Marion shouted at the top of his lungs and flinched at the impact. He looked to see the knife that stuck out of his arm and he winced further. Without thinking he pulled the knife back out of his arm and threw it to the ground, breaking his grasp on Maddie. He used his hand to cover the wound as an attempt to stop it from bleeding. He whipped his head around to attempt to view his attacker. “WHO THE HELL HIT ME?!”

Maddie’s head whipped around when she heard Marion yell, her eyes widened in shock when she saw Marion pull a knife out of his arm. She looked back where they had come from to notice a bunch of people chasing after them. She recognized one of the people as the women in black from before who was staring the pair down with murder in her eyes. Maddie let out a terrified scream as the people advanced toward them.

Dexter’s head perked up when he heard a familiar voice scream out in terror. “Maddie?” His eye widened as he turned in the direction of the noise. “Maddie!” He quickly broke away from his fellow prisoners and began racing towards where he had heard his sister’s cry of distress.

Aiken watched as one of his newfound students shot out of the warehouse faster than he would’ve believed possible under normal circumstances and it really made him wonder what might have been going on beyond their exit although he already suspected it wasn’t going to be anything good. “Come on guys!” He yelled as he herded everyone finally out of the warehouse that had been their prison.

Piper continued running around the corner despite the people being targeted in front of her although as she ran by she did notice that the target of the crazy woman chasing them was a small child - a girl who she felt like she had seen before although where she had seen her was unclear in her memory. As she rounded the corner, she saw even more glowing pendants - each one had their own color and it was a very odd sight to behold. There was a man who appeared to be dead - He looks like he wasn’t easy to bring down, she remarked. There was a group stumbling out from the warehouse that had been concealed behind the trees and there was smoke as fire spread into the forest and towards the warehouse as well. Piper didn’t even get a chance to blink before a bright flash of light and a giant plume of smoke erupted into the air generating a force that knocked her off her feet.

Dexter rushed out of the warehouse and was severely displeased with what he saw. The women in black from the warehouse was attacking his sister. His eye narrowed at her and his lip pulled back in a snarl. Like Hell he would let her even lay a finger on Maddie. He pulled out one of his many knives and sent it hurtling towards Akira with deadly precision.

Lucas had been standing on the edge of the fight and his head turned rapidly as he heard his brother’s lucid scream followed by an explosion. It took him a moment to fully comprehend what it meant and by the time he realized his brother was dead, he had also realized that he had very swiftly turned his attention away from a fight. Still wielding his axe he charged at his opponent; however, halfway through his charge he noticed more people rounding the corner - one of them being a very familiar woman in black. Lucas’s lips moved although no sound came out - it couldn’t, not for Lucas. He froze mid charge, and turned running the other way vanishing into the forest.

As soon as Akira rounded the corner she knew that things were spiraling way out of control. The warehouse was under siege by multiple pendent bearers, Mavis was dead and Lucas was stuck fighting off the assailants on his own and the prisoners had escaped from their cell. It was time to disappear. Akira hated giving up but she knew that she was outnumbered. Even with her tremendous skill, she couldn’t fight this many people at once. Just as she was about to make an exit though, a knife went sailing through the air towards her. Without even flinching. she moved aside and caught the knife by the handle as it flew past. She turned her attention to the man who attacked her. It was one of their captives, the man in the eye patch. Paying him little mind, she pocketed his knife and pulled out a smoke bomb. He spared the boy one last glance before setting the bomb off and taking off down another allyway.

Dexter’s mouth fell open as he watched the women catch his knife in mid air. Just who is this women? He recovered from his shook when he saw her disappear in a cloud of smoke. As if I would let you get away. Dexter closed his eyes and used his newfound magic to listen for her footsteps. She went… That way! He raced after her as she fled down a different alley. He pulled another knife out of his pack, hoping to catch her when her back was turned.

Akira frowned when she noticed that the knife thrower had followed her. She spun around and threw on of her own knifes, intercepting his, sending the knives clattering to the ground. “You are either very brave or very foolish for challenging me, boy.” She declared coldly.

“I could say the same to you.” Dexter smirked as he pulled out two more knives. “You may have gotten the drop on me before, but I won’t make the same mistake twice.”

“It wasn’t your mistake, but rather, my victory.” She replied smoothly, before rushing towards Dexter, closing the distance between them.

Shit! Dexter quickly moved his hand to block Akira's punch to his face. She’s way faster than I thought. Shit, I’m much better at a distance. If we fight hand to hand she’s going to have the advantage. He swiped at her with his knives but she easily blocked them, knocking the knives out of his hands. She digged her nails into his shoulders and dragged his upper body down as she kneed him in the chest. Dexter felt the air being forced out of his lungs and he struggled to get a breath. He threw his arms around Akira in an attempt to maintain balance. Akira swept her right hand under the bridge of his nose, pushing up on his forehead. This forced Dexter’s center of gravity to rise, giving her the opening to grab his right arm. In one motion, she swung the arm up and jammed a knife hand strike in the pressure point inches from the armpit. This strike overloaded Dexter’s nervous system. His knees buckled and he was on the ground before he realized what had happened.

“Foolish boy,” Akira scoffed, before turning on her heel and sprinting out of the alley way.

Dexter lay on the ground, blinking in confusion as Akira fled. He tried to get up but he felt numb and woozy and his whole body felt like it was tingling. He grunted when a shock of pain laced up his arm and he collapsed again. His head was pounding and his ears were ringing as he slammed his fist into the ground in frustration. What the hell is wrong with me!? Dexter screamed in his head. I thought I was getting stronger! Am I still this weak? How am I going to protect Maddie like this? Fuck, I’m useless!

“Big brother!” Dexter looked up as his sister ran up to him with tears streaming down her face. Dexter managed to sit up and clasp his hands over his ears.

“Quiet down!” Her voice sounded deafening and his headache was getting worse. He looked back up at her tearful face and his eye softened. “Sorry Maddie,” He apologized softly. “My ears hurt ‘is all.”

“Are you hurt?” She whimpered, looking down at his bandaged hand.

“Just a bit. What about you?” He frantically looked her over for injuries.

“I’m fine.” Maddie sniffed. “I was s-s-so scared though.” New tears began falling down her face as she desperately tried to wipe them away. “I’m so happy you’re alive Dexter!” She cries, flinging her arms around her brother and sobbing into his chest.

Dexter wrapped his arms around his sister and pulled her tight against his chest despite the pain in his arm. “I’m glad you’re safe too.” He murmured softly.

Aiken had initially been shocked by the explosion of the warehouse; he really had not expected it to go that far. However, he took count and all of the people he had retrieved made it out in one piece and now there were more of them although the commotion seemed to have caused quite a confusion. All of a sudden, everything around them froze - the wind, the movement of the fire, the sounds of the banquet gone insane - all of it. The wearers of the pendants could still move freely, but he couldn’t risk any further damage coming to them. “Gather round, everyone!” he called out, although knowing his luck very few if any would actually listen.

Sepitus Trevils, Victor Ludwig

Sepitus took a moment to recover from the initial shock of what had happened before he stepped back up to the mic and informed anyone remaining in the dining area to remain calm. “The people who caused this atrocity have magic and they mean to use it against us!” He called out. Then he noticed that there was one person still glowing in the crowd. He turned to Victor and pointed at the woman. “Get her!”

Victor was completely obedient. Sepitus’s wrath could quickly become frightening and he had no wish to incur that anger, especially not when their goal had been right in front of them.

Leandra and Manjano

Location: Just Outside of the Warehouse

Rushing to his sister's aid, Manjano quickly shoved the large brute off of her, before quickly pulling her away from the now-dead man. Leandra whimpered as she felt numerous ribs fractured and broken on top of her legs being fractured in at least one or two places. Dropping to his knees beside his sister, Manjano felt helpless as he looked over her injuries. There was no way he was going to be able to just magically heal her. Looking over the rather large group of people in the area, Manjano silently wondered if anyone could help his sister. While Manjano did not desire to speak up as usual, Leandra promptly screamed in agony when the pain finally set in from her various damaged bones. Manjano winced at the agonizing screams from his sister and bit his lip in frustration at how desperate he felt in this situation despite having nothing that he could do for Leandra.

(Leandra is rather frail in comparison to the large brute that threw all of his body weight onto her so I figured she wouldn't escape without some major injuries to the parts of her body that had been crushed under his weight. Though, I really don't want her to die so I'm going to pretend she doesn't have any internal bleeding or a punctured lung...or any damaged organs for that matter)

As they dashed through the streets more people joined the pursuit. Zeph's eyes flickered between every last one of them, a rather tall man who was as pale as himself in regards to his body and another man a little shorter than himself, who also sported the white hair. Zephyr raised an eyebrow. He'd almost never come across someone with his particular hair color before, but here were two instances at the same time. His eyes wandered over to a young girl and a man who seemed less dependent on the rest of them. The girl had short-cut messy blond hair with tan skin and blue eyes, while the man had pale skin, reddish hair and dark eyes. There didn't seem to be any physical connection or similarities between the two, so Zephyr couldn't help but be a little curious about their connection before they abruptly turned into an alleyway. Zeph cringed slightly as he saw a knife slid into the taller man's shoulder, but turned his attention back forward again.

Between knives flying through the air, the smell of smoke, people coming in from every direction and the immediate danger behind him, Zephyr had to keep his eyes and focus on the girl in the white dress, less he should be completely lost. The danger to his personal safety was obvious at this point, so in the middle of sprinting he reached an arm back and pulled the long staff off of his back and into his left hand. He doubted his ability to take on the black-dressed woman behind them, but if she proved a threat to more people around, then he could probably help out in a group effort to bring her down. The older girl in the white dress suddenly turned a corner, and slipping on mud Zephyr managed to scramble his way behind her- only to be stopped dead in his tracks by a shockwave.

His eyes widened as he witnessed the chaos before him. Groups of people almost exclusively wearing pendants were all around him, a fire was consuming the forest and a line of people who seemed rather worn were streaming out of a warehouse in the woods, close to the spreading inferno. The older woman that he'd been following was affected further by the shockwave and lost her footing, consequently knocking Zephyr backwards and onto his back as she collided with his chest. Zephyr looked up and noticed the warrior-woman that had chased them coming around the corner and hesitating, then flinched as a knife came towards her and she caught it without losing her composure. Quick like a bunny Zeph had gotten back on his feet and backed away from the woman as she threw a smokebomb to the ground and disappeared, soon to be followed by some guy.

Taking a deep sigh and falling forward onto his knees in the dirt, Zephyr was suddenly overcome with a sensation of tiredness. The amount of things going on had started tearing on his mind, and he didn't like the panicked atmosphere of the situation. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and looked over to the older girl yet again. "You alright?" He shoved the end of his staff into the ground and pushed himself back onto his feet again, wiping the dirt off of his pants. Then when he decided to look around and inspect the situation once more, he noticed something entirely different.

The sounds from the fire was gone, birds in the air were stuck, he even saw floating objects here and there that should be falling to the ground but weren't. The only things still moving were himself, the white-dress female and the people over by the warehouse. The silence around him seemed so compact Zephyr was almost convinced he could take out his knife and cut a piece out of it. The only thing disturbing the painful quiet was a voice coming from over near the other group. "Huh?" Zephyr exclaimed and started moving towards them, leaving Piper behind him.

He stopped and stood a few yards away from the old man that had called them to gather around. Judging from the look of the rest of 'em, this guy seemed the least surprised that the entire world had stopped moving. Zephyr could only assume he was the cause of it. Zephyr just stood there for a moment, then opened his mouth and spoke "I don't know what's going on here, but judging from the looks of things, you've got some answers. The only thing I'd really like to know is what these pendants are, and how comes there's about 20 of them here." He leaned against his battle staff and let his eyes wander, studying every individual present.

He winced when a female voice screamed out in agony just by him though, and instead of waiting for the old man to respond he turned his attention that way. Two somewhat similar looking people were off to the side, a girl lying down a wailing in agony while a man - who from the looks of it could be her brother. He hesitated for a moment, then walked over to their side and dropped to a knee. "You don't seem to be well off." He looked to the man. "Is it alright? I'm somewhat educated in mundane medicine." He motioned towards her.

Leandra and Manjano

Leandra gasped again in pain, tears rolling down her face, as she struggled to sit still since every move just added to the immense pain she was already in. Manjano looked up at the man who approached the pair, eyeing him warily while he tried to decide if the man was a threat or not. Yet, hearing another pitiful cry from his sister was motivation enough for Manjano to seek help from anyone at this point. Gesturing towards Leandra's ribs and then to her legs, Manjano said in a naturally quiet voice, "Some of her ribs have been broken and parts of her legs are broken as well." Looking down at his sister's legs, Manjano subtly winced at the sight of one of her feet seemingly stuck facing sideways while the other had a part of a bone sticking out of its ankle. He could tell by some bruising on other parts of her legs that she had probably fractured other parts of her bones. Leandra wasn't going to be walking anytime soon, not at this rate.

Zephyr eyed the man until he finally broke and allowed him to approach the woman. He crawled closer to her side and put a hand on her shoulder to slowly lower her down into a lying position while putting his backpack under her head. "Myeah, that's what it looks like." He mumbled as he pulled her shirt up to just under her bust. A purplish color on her skin betrayed the damage that lied underneath, and Zeph pursed his lips in a bothered expression. "Very well then. Here, bite down on this." He said, and placed a piece of a branch in her hand. "I've got nothing else to ease your pain, so we take what we get." He reached down and gently pulled a hand alongside her leg to feel how the bone had been broken, then closed his eyes and grabbed her foot. "Sorry..." He mumbled, before his grip tightened and he pushed the bone back the way it should face with a loud crack.

He looked up to the girl's companion. "She's not in any immediate danger, but if you could get a tough stick so we can jury-rig her a make-shift splint that'd help." He leaned back, then crawled down and stopped to inspect the foot where a bone was protruding. "Tsk, that's... not good..." He loosened the knife at his belt and inspected it's blade. Since he wasn't by any means a dagger wielder, the blade was clean and sharp from little use and much upkeep. He was about to put it to her skin when he once again realized that he had nothing for her pain. She was most likely going to twitch, and that wouldn't be good. "And when you're done, could you come back and hold her leg straight?" He spoke up to the man again, then slipped his hand into a pocket on his backpack.

Out he pulled a small glass container sealed with a cork. Inside it was a few folded green leaves. Suddenly Zephyr looked disappointed and glanced between her and the container for a few seconds, then sighed loudly. "What don't you do for others, huh..." He unplugged it and let the leaves fall into his hands, where he started rubbing them together until they were a mush. "Don't move... this is expensive, wouldn't want to waste any of it..." He spread the green mush over the bruised ribs, then put a bandage over it to hold it in place. He sat back, inspected his handiwork and couldn't help but feel a little proud. Then he realized how much money he'd just spent on this completely random stranger and his shoulders slumped down again.

@Lioness075 (Yo, I figured I wrote pretty far ahead here. If you feel like your character would've reacted in some way that would've stopped my character from going on, then yell at me and I'll edit my post no problem.)

Leandra and Manjano

Leandra gave the man a look that said she was ready to punch him in the face and break his nose despite her current condition if he made any wrong moves, though she instantly distracted when he handed her a branch and ordered her to bite down on it. Immediately feeling his presence near her foot, Leandra's eyes widened and she was about to move when Manjano swiftly held her down by the shoulders and grabbed the stick from her hand before forcing her to bite down on it. Leandra glared at Manjano, but soon forgot her anger towards him when her foot was shoved back into the correct direction. Eyes wide, Leandra clenched her teeth on the stick and let out a muffle scream in protest. Manjano winced at the obvious pain Leandra was in, but there was hardly anything he could do for her and the stranger seemed to be helping at the very least.

Hearing the man telling him to get a stick for a makeshift splint, Manjano decided to get two since he figured that would keep the foot from trying to go in the wrong direction if it tried to. Standing up from his sister, Manjano paused with indecision on leaving her with a complete stranger when he spoke up again, telling him to hurry back and hold her leg still. Deciding yet again that he really had o choice in this moment, Manjano turned around and jogged to the nearest treeline, quickly finding four sturdy-looking sticks and then breaking off the small branches lining them. After all, one of Leandra's feet were injured while her other ankle was injured, so she was going to probably need a splint for both of her legs. Manjano could only hope that the various bruises lining the rest of her legs were simply bruises and not evidence of further injury within her.

While Manjano busied himself with gathering the branches, Leandra silently cursed at the immense pain, hissing through her teeth when the stranger busied himself with wiping something over her broken and bruised ribs. Blinking away her tears, Leandra inhaled sharply when the stranger wrapped her ribs in bandages, feeling the agony of any touch to her ribs tenfold in the moment. Manjano quickly jogged back in time to see the stranger finishing his job of wrapping up Leandra's chest. Now was not the time for him to be angered for anyone touching his sister, so he pushed away his thoughts and focused on the task at hand. Kneeling beside his sister and opposite of the stranger, Manjano silently held out the sticks to him, while using his other free hand to lower Leandra's top over her now bandaged chest. Oblivious as he always was of other's emotions except for his sister's, Manjano had failed to notice the way the stranger's shoulders had slumped in the moment.

Roa

Roa looked around and realized that the man was coming for her. She instinctively jumped up and reached for her sword, only to grab air. She looked down realizing she left it at her inn, "well curse my luck." She picked up a chair and tossed it at the man coming for her. She knew that he was strong just by looking at him. She couldn't just go in fighting blindly, she needed a strategy and understand her surroundings. She continued to walk backwards picking up plates and tossing them at the man.

One of the guests tried to grab her, in fury she turned and punched him in the face. "Imbecile!" The man grew closet from her wasted time. She knew she couldn't take him without her weapon so she decided to run. She pulled the tablecloth out from the plates on the table beside her and threw it on top of the man. Using this momentary distraction she made a mad dash for the exit. She jumped from table to table, chair to chair making her way to the outside. She felt like she was running faster than she ever had before, it was a weird sensation to say the least.

She pushed even faster and jumped out of a window. Landing with ease she made a mad dash down the street. Haah, who was that man and what did he mean by magic? Why is he out to get me? What did he mean by people? Are there others like me? What am I anyway? Her pendant still glowed as she ran down the street. She clenched it in her fist, it was scorching hot. What the heck is going on?

Leandra, Manjano, and Zephyr

"Hopefully, that'll do something against the pain." Zeph mumbled and motioned towards her chest, then accepted the branches from her companion. He put them down on the ground beside her, then brushed his leaf-covered hands off in the grass. "That takes care of that... Now, would you hold her down and make sure she stays calm? Impromptu surgery hurts." He said, then put the cold steel against her skin. "Ready?" He'd performed similar things before, but not without analgesics nor anesthetics. He was just hoping she wouldn't twitch.

Manjano watched the stranger carefully, waiting to see what was next. Seeing what was planned next upon the dagger being shown, Manjano bit his lip and then put pressure on Leandra's knee with his own knee to keep her leg from moving too much, while he pressed his hands against her shoulders and stared into her eyes to help keep her calm. Leandra's heart skipped a beat when she realized what was going on and she let out a pitiful whimper before trying to push Manjano away. He instantly responded by grabbing both of her wrists and holding them down. Hearing the stranger's question of readiness, Manjano said a quiet, "Yes" in response before he leaned all of his body weight onto Leandra's knee, wrists, which were both held down by one hand, and her one should that he was holding down with his free hand. At this rate, even if Leandra freaked out, she wouldn't be able to move anyhow. After all, Manjano was the stronger, physically at least, of the twins.

Zeph took a deep breath, then mumbled "Alright." The knife was far more than sharp enough to pierce her skin with ease. Gore didn't faze Zephyr, but after a few moments he stopped. The nervousness he felt from actually doing a medical procedure had him shaking slightly, and he tried to concentrate before lowering the blade again. Pushing tendons back in place, moving bones so that they may heal properly and removing dirt from the wound, Zeph slowly managed to patch the girl back together.

"Very good..." He commented, as her foot hadn't moved. He picked a sewing kit from the ground, and slowly started to piece together the bleeding skin around the wound. When the wound was almost fully sealed up, Zeph put the sewing kit away again and wrapped the wound in another piece of bandage. The branches from earlier he placed alongside her leg and tightly wrapped to them so that her bones wouldn't shift. Once he felt like he was done, he leaned back from her and wiped the sweat from his brow. "Those splints aren't going to help all that much, but they're better than nothing. You should get some proper medical care done soon." He muttered, then stuffed all of his things back into his backpack and threw it over his shoulders. "And eh, you're not going to have to owe me anything for this. I try to be a good Samaritan, after all."

Leandra instantly cursed at the immense pain from the knife entering her wound and tried to jerk away, but Manjano held her down and kept her still throughout the procedure. While he was curious to see what the stranger was doing, Manjano needed to focus on keeping his sister still and helping her get through the pain. Staring in her eyes, Manjano willed her to calm down and Leandra's eyes soon met his. Biting her lip, Leandra stayed tense throughout the procedure, but did her best to remain calm and collected. By the end of the procedure, Leandra had bitten into her lip and some blood had trickled down her chin from the action.

Hearing that the stranger was done, Manjano climbed off of his sister and eyed the wrapped ankle that was already beginning to bleed a bit through the bandages. Luckily, Manjano and his sister had some of their own bandages handy as well. He'd most likely have to replace the bandages later that day to keep the wound from getting infected. Eyeing the splints warily, Manjano knew that Leandra still wouldn't be walking for a day or two. He'd have to carry her around, which would hinder any potential attacking maneuvers that either of them would want to pull off. Hopefully they could avoid trouble for a few days. Looking up at the stranger, Manjano was silent, as he listened to what the stranger said. Hearing that he didn't owe the stranger anything, Manjano simply nodded at him. It wasn't like Manjano would ever go out of his way like the stranger had, but he was nevertheless grateful that he had come to his sister's aid. Leandra looked up at the stranger, swiping some sweat off her forehead before she said in a shaky voice,
"T-Thank you for helping me." Panting, she paused for a moment and then added, "You never told us your name...?"

The blue umbrella that followed Zeph everywhere extended above his head again, and he leaned it against his shoulder as he turned sideways while keeping eye-contact with the man. He took the battlestaff and placed it underneath his backpack again to secure it on his back. The fellow nodded at him, and he nodded in turn. "Right..." He mumbled as he turned his back to walk away.

Suddenly the female, who he had only heard squeal earlier, spoke up and thanked him for his service. He turned sideways and looked back
"Oh, no problem at all." He said in a neutral voice, but when she asked for his name he couldn't help but give a small smile. To be honest, he couldn't remember the last time someone'd asked his name. There was family he'd stayed with for several weeks, helping with animals and sharing dinners, yet when he left he realized they never got to know his name. He wasn't one for introducing himself.

"... Zeph. I'm Zephyr Ferguson, of the Ferguson family. Of course, that's not a name known outside Assyria. Probably not outside the villages surrounding our estate either." He realized he was almost going out on a tangent. "... Never mind, we aren't famous." He shifted awkwardly, but his expression gave no evidence of being uncomfortable. Perhaps because he wasn't. He was an entertainer, and as such had suppressed any sense of uncomfortability he once had. "... What about yourself- I mean, yourselves?"

Leandra winced a bit when she pushed herself upright, wanting to sit up. Manjano quickly rushed to her side, helping her sit up and subtly frowning at her for moving so soon. Rolling her eyes at Manjano, Leandra then shifted her gaze back to Zephyr and said, "Nice to meet you, Zephyr. Name's Leandra Sinciato, and this is my twin brother, Manjano." She then gestured towards Manjano, who said nothing in response except for staying kneeled beside his sister and keeping her sitting upright since if she tried to hold herself up, she'd surely just fall back onto her back. Having noted the slight awkwardness in both the moment when Zephyr spoke to Manjano, which wasn't entirely uncommon in most interactions, but also after he mentioned the family, Leandra smiled easily at Zephyr despite still being in a decent amount of pain.

Waving her hand dismissively in Manjano's direction, Leandra added, "Don't mind him, by the way. He hardly ever speaks anyhow. In fact, I was rather surprised by how much he said to you." Grinning in a teasing, sisterly manner, Leandra said to Manjano, "I hope you're not crushing on someone you just met, brother." Manjano's eyes instantly narrowed at the teasing, but no anger was evident despite the facial expression that said otherwise. Rolling her eyes, Leandra looked back at Zephyr and said after wincing slightly, "So, you're from Assyria? From what I've heard, it's a nice place."

Peculiar name. Zephyr noted. Sinciato didn't sound like anthing he'd heard before, but he was sure to keep it in mind. He'd never forgotten a name before. Manjano? That didn't sound like ANYTHING he'd heard before, and except for his personal distaste for names that included "Man" somehow, he couldn't find anything in his memory to relate it to. His eyes shifted over to Manjano as she spoke about him, but as soon as he was about to pipe up again, she added something about romantic interest.

This fazed Zeph. Not ever having any close friends meant he'd never had romantic jokes made about him, especially not ones of homosexual nature. Zephyr took a step back as if hit by the earlier bomb shockwave again. Since Manjano didn't appear to react to it positively Zeph didn't get offended, he was just somewhat taken aback. Instead of brooding on the matter, he shook his head slightly and turned his attention back to Leandra.

"So, you're from Assyria? From what I've heard, it's a nice place."

Zephyr raised an eyebrow, then shrugged the statement off.
"Well, look around. I'd say it's a pretty enough place. It looks rather different over my part of the country though. Pastures, animals. The rest of Assyria is pretty much what you see here. Forests, everywhere." Suddenly it hit Zephyr what a bizarre situation he was in. Time seemed to have stopped all around them, and here he was having a conversation with someone who'd been crying in pain a moment earlier. "... I think we have more important things at hand though." He said, regained his stern look and turned back to the old man.

Leandra quickly noticed Zephyr's reaction to her romantic joke and giggled, finding it amusing, though her giggle stopped midway and became a rough coughing. Manjano gave Leandra a worried expression, but there was nothing he could really do for her at this point. Regaining her composure, Leandra then listened to what Zephyr had to say about Assyria, realizing with a start that they were indeed already in Assyria. She frowned at this knowledge, realizing that she must've hit her head harder upon impacting the pavement below the brute than she'd expected. Shrugging it off, Leandra nodded at Zephyr upon his conclusion of his description of Assyria. While the twins had only seen the town so far, it sure sounded like a peaceful and nice place to stay. Much better than where the twins had come from. At least they wouldn't have to deal with bandits around every turn. Hearing Zephyr's mention of more important things, Leandra looked to the side and realized with a start that time had seemingly stopped around them. Besides a nearby group of people that still seemed animate, there were birds frozen mid-flight nearby and there seemed to be a growing and uneasy silence around the whole group. What the h-?
