" it is the worst pain you can imagine. And it lasts for days"he said thinking about it. Shivering at the thought. "AND slowly over time you forget all of your human life. "He said blinking it away before getting up and looked out the window. " you see so much when You live as long as us...the good the bad"


"Both of you stop"Emily growled. " that girl is walking a fine line right now and she does not need this"she said glaring at the two. "So enough or you"she looked at Sam. " Can find a new imprint"she said though she knew it wasn't possible. "And you"she said looking at Jake. " Might need to find a new one too"she threaten. "Now inside both of you"she said before walking in.

She sighed when he moved away, now it really did feel too cold to bare. She laid back and cuddled a pillow to her chest, watching him fondly. "I'm sorry, Edward." She told him, though she knew he'd tell her not to be. "I wish you all got a better chance."


I'm so happy to know you while I can, though...

Jacob just scoffed, "You sure know how to pick'm."


"Enough," Sam told him, and followed Emily into the house.


"Oh, suddenly I'm the bad guy?" He snarled as he came inside, shoving his shaking hands in his pockets. Emily was always right and he knew it. But he wanted the Cullens gone. They didn't deserve a chance.

" it was this or death though"he pointed out gently. " Wasn't all bad"he said thinking back. " I have watched humans grow and change. " he started walking to her." And most of all I have gotten to meet you"he said gently talking her hand in his and pressed his cool lips to her.


Emily shot Jake a glare before getting Sun to eat something. After awhile Emily and Sam left and Sun was sitting on her bed sending out some texts before shutting her phone off. " is your dad ok with you staying here tonight? "

And I'm going to lose you, aren't I, Edward?





She swallowed the lump in her throat and smiled at him, soaking up the proximity. "I'm glad we met." She responded, her cheeks dusted pink at his embrace. How Sonya or the wolves could ever dislike this family, especially Edward... She just couldn't comprehend it.

"Hah, he doesn't care. I'm kind of on call, but I don't think they'll be needing me," He told her, nestling in beside her and kissing her cheek.


"What would you like to do? Anything, anything at all."

It was the day of the funeral and Sonya was so on edge about it just really wanting to get it over with. She stood outside the church for a moment holding her rosary in her hand. She had gotten into a fight with her grandmother Hastings. She according to her grandmother looked at who whore. She just didn't want to deal with it. She smiled abit seeing Emily and some of the La Push boys come. She walked to Emily hugging her abit before the others.


Edward drove to pick Rae up. Carlisle had said if there was anymore issues with the wolves they would have to leave Forks until things calmed down. Edward didn't think he was breaking Sonya's wishes for him not to be there. He was just dropping her off and staying in the parking lot. This was admittedly the first funeral Rae had ever been to, the heaviness of death hadn't really hit her till today. She'd worn a simple knee length dress, jet black, quarter sleeved and lace along the neckline, flats to accompany it. She stepped out and met Edward, apprehensive not only to be near La Push natives, but afraid any day now the Cullens would leave.


"How do I look?" She asked half heartedly, offering a small smile as she walked up to him. The weather was gloomy and made her feel weary.

Jacob arrived early to the church, dressed in a suit, something that made him very uncomfortable. But out of respect for Sonya, and her family, he dressed hos best, looking incredibly handsome when he arrived. He knew today she'd really be out of it, so he would be as compassionate and willing as a man could be.


He greeted the pack, who arrived at different times, all dressed their best, all on guard to make sure Vampires didn't bother this event.


"Sun," He greeted her, pulling her in for a light kiss. "You look beautiful," He told her, gently rubbing her back.

" Black does not suit you"he said as he opened the door for her. " but you look nice"he said as he helped her in his car before walking around to his side and got in before starting off.


"How are you feeling about all of this?"he asked as it started to rain. Rain during a funeral.....fitting.

Sun smiled abit seeing Jake. She fixed a tie. " You should dress up more often"she said feeling the glare of her Hastings grandmother as Sun leaned against Jake. "Someone looks uncomfortable"Paul stated. "Someone has a stick up her ass"Sun replied.

 

[Raerae]

"Like I'm going to cry, honestly. Everything's hitting me at once," She laughed it off as her voice broke, watching the rain drizzle down his volvo. She ran her fingers under her damp eyelids, luckily she hardly wore make up, so nothing was smearing save for a smidge of mascara.


"I just don't know where I fit right now," She sighed, breathing in the familiar scent of his car. "And I feel like I'm hurting for Sun, too."

"This? Ugh, no way," he told Sun playfully, though he really did hate the suit.


Jacob felt Paul greet him with a slap on the back, and he snorted in response. "You look like a dork in that suit," He told Paul, who threw the same remark back at him. His muscles arms gently held Sun close to him, unafraid to show his affections towards her in front of the family. He only really cared about how her father felt.


He held up one of the paper programs over her head as it began to drizzle. "Of course," He sighed. "We should head inside, babe. If anyone else is coming..."


But he knew everyone who was supposed to be here was here, except Rae. And he dreaded knowing what was taking the brunette so long to arrive. Maybe she'd show up with fangs. He nearly growled at the thought as he looked onwards.

" You are not hurting Sonya" he said softly. Though he really didn't care. If she was a firend she wold just want Rae to be happy. He sighed softly. " My parents went to the visitation last night" he said softly. " My father said Sonya wouldn't look at him...though that maybe because he was the one who pronounced the death "he said softly thinking about what his father had said...already they had started packing things...the wolves were going to win this battle.


He sighed as he started to pull up to the church. Great....the whole pack (minus Leah) was there. He parked his car and got out and walked to herseid and opened the door for her.

Sun smiled abit at Jake. She was planning to buy him a jacket to replace the one she had ruined when she threw coffee at him. " Yeah let's get going inside" she said but she stopped seeing Rae pull up in that car....she had asked her friend for one thing and she couldn't do that. " Stay here...all of you" she said knowing Cullen wouldn't do anything here. She stormed up. " Really Rae....really I asked you not to bring the thing here" she said almsot hissed.

Rae thought about what he said, looking at him with sympathy until he got out of the car. She could see everyone in the distance, near the church, absolute stranger a, and so much darker than the Cullens. She sighed and, quite shakily, got out, only to be unexpectedly approached by a not so happy Sonya.


"Do not refer to him as a thing," Rae said defensively, though not with quite as much venom. She took a deep breath, feeling the anger emanating from Sun. "I needed a ride, and he offered. He only plans to wait in the parking lot."


Jacob watched from the distance, over hearing every word and feeling his hands trembling and his body heat sky rocketing. A hand was on his shoulder, Sam's, of course.


"Calm down, he's done nothing yet," He said, but Jacob only slapped his arm away, on guard just like the other wolves. He didn't care, he was here and he wasn't supposed to be, he and the little wanna be leech were asking for it!

" He has no heart beat Rae he is a thing. I asked you for one thing Rae....one I didn't the bloodsucker near this place" she hissed. " I have little cousins in there...Nick is only 3 I do not want him to see a monster" she said seeing Edward roll his eyes. " Jacob fill your head with lies?" he said watching them. " Shut up murder" she hissed at him. " This is my mother's funeral Rae...I thought you were my friend...I could have sent one of my cousins to come and get you" she said ignoring Edward and his eye rolling or muttering.


" How can you do this time me..."Sun asked looking at Rae.

 

[Raerae]

"You're acting pretty monstrous yourself right now," She frowned and stepped backwards, closer to Edward as she heard the distant growls of watching La Push natives.


"And from what I've learned on my own, without your help, La Push isn't exactly void of monsters. You kept me in the dark for a long time! How's that for thinking we're friends, when I don't even know what's going on? I came here to support you anyways! And he is not the murderer!"


She didn't mention that Edward brought her here to keep her safe. She doubted anyone would listen.


Jacob felt the first ripple spiral down his back, his eyes focusing in on Rae. "I could turn her into a chew toy," He growled, but felt Sam and Seth grab onto his arms. They wouldn't hold him, though. He felt another ripple and snarled. Embry and Quil were on the defense, too.

" Oh wow I am acting like a monster at my mother's own funeral" she said shrugging. " It wasn't my secret to tell you! it was a bunch of people...families are involved in La Push" she said crossing her arms. " They are heartless bloodless monsters...you can leave...I really don't care but it's pretty sick to want to be with someone dead" she said as she started to walk off to Jake and gentlye pulled him to walk.


Edward looked around sighing. There ie was...Sonya ahd openly accused him and could ahve outed them so easily. ' I should get you home" he said as he gently moved to get back into the car. Alice must have seen the fight and gotten a text saying they were leaving in a couple hours. He ran a hand through his hair waiting for her to get in so they could leave.

Rae didn't hesitate to get into the passenger seat, head in her hands as she felt the situation crash down on her. She didn't want to lose either of her friends, but like it always happened, she would. Sun was so obviously done with her, her words stinging and making her feel like a stranger. And the Cullens were leaving God knows when.


"I don't think of you as any of those things," She told Edward, though it didn't matter. "I swear I don't. You're..." She trailed off, knowing it really didn't matter what she said. That he and his family were her only security. That she was so attached. That she'd be miserable when they left.

Though Jacob kept a steady pace with her, he glanced over his shoulder, making a mental note to tear that girl apart if he ever saw her again. "Screw her," He told Sun, "If the leeches come back we will tear them apart."


"I don't think they will," Sam said, watching as the Volvo left. "And I can assure you that Rae won't be back, either."


The other snarled and, after merging closer to Sonya, all disappeared inside the church. "She better not."

Edward sighed as he drive not speeding like normally. " She nearly outed us" he said softly. " My family...called us murders...it does not matter what you think if we did it or not...if others heard" he paused pinching the bridge of his nose. " My family...we have to leave" he said looking at her. " It is a matter of safety" he said looking over at her his heart was breaking in that moment.

Sun sighed walking in taking a seat next to her father. The Hastings were on one side the Valkens on the other. the service was fairly quick and soon people started walking out. Sun was still seated in chair beside her father accepting hugs and hand shakes. She just wanted out of there..out of this dress and heels..

 

[Raerae]

"I know..." She held her stomach as that familiar, lonely ache filled her body, making her head swim with fear that this was the last time she'd ever see the family she'd come to love, and the man she... She hadn't even had time to assess how she felt. Probably avoided it cause she knew he wouldn't be around.


"I want you all safe more than anything" She sniffed, holding back the tears for when she was by herself. "I'm sorry you have to uproot again." She knew that feeling as well as a human could. "I'll miss you, Edward. And Alice, and Carlisle, and Jasper, and Esme, Emmett, Rosalie..."

Jacob waited for Sun by the doors, of course fully alert and on guard should anyone else try to bother her and the event. He really wasn't dying to sink his teeth through those porcelain bastards, and Sam knew it, so he and the others stuck around after the funeral, ready to keep Jacob from provoking the breaking of the treaty.


Sam wouldn't take the Cullen boys appearance lightly. But even with their theories he had to make sure that they were prepared for a fight.


"There you are," Emily hugged Sun tightly for what seemed like the hundredth time that day, followed by Seth, and his mother. "I'm so sorry about earlier. Would like me to accompany you home, Jacobs still shaken up."


She smiled sweetly, obviously very fond of Sun.

Edward sighed as he drove. " We may...be back" he said somewhat hoping it would be years later. Maybe by than she would have moved on from him and have a normal life...one that she can have a husband and maybe even have children. " Just...becareful" he said as he pulled up to her apartment building. " Don't do anything stupid like date a wolf please"

Sun smiled softly at the hug. " I wish I could but I can't" she said standing up. " We are going to my Aunt's for dinner' she said softly. " Maybe I'll get Jake to come...he loves to play with little Nick" she said seeing the little 3 year old running up and down the aisle.

 

[Raerae]

Rae laughed a little, "Those mutts? Hell no." She leaned over and gently kissed his cheek, not expecting them to really come back, "Don't forget me too quickly, Edward."


When she got out of the car, the rain was really pouring. She waved goodbye, letting her tears finally fall as the rain splashed on her face. Closing the front door behind her once she was in her apartment, and then realizing she was alone, she slid down the door, onto the floor, and cried until she was gasping and hiccuping.

Emily smiled and, with Sam, they left, though they made sure to remind Jacob to be on his best behavior. He scoffed and went to meet up with Sun, holding out an arm.


"Where are we off to next, dinner?" He sighed, "Emily told me. I'll go. But I really, really hate this suit, babe."

Hmm... We can, yeah. Will Sonya have completely stopped talking to Rae and had a baby with Jacob? And what about the Volturi?

Yes and yeah and I was thinking may be Rae has seen some red eyes staring at her from time to time?

A little more than a year had gone by and all seemed peaceful in the land of Forks and LA Push. The Cullens were gone and so was the killer. Which led the wolves to really believe the Cullens were doing it. Sonya had torn her acl during a volleyball game which put a quick end to her college playing career. She hadn't spoken to Rae between their fight surgery on her knee and sr year nothing and been said between the girls. Though there was some thing or one watching Rae.....eyes red eyes had been watching her on and off for the past year.


Mike walked up to Rae. They had gotten roped(more forced) in to helping clean the gym after a pre spring break in school party. " So what are your plans for spring break?"he asked as he started to take down tables..


Driving to her father's home Sonya sat in the back of her car looking at the tiny pink bundle sleeping in her car seat. She and Jake welcomed a little girl into the world the day before yesterday. Her name was Sara after Jacob's mom. Sonya was taking college classes online and working as her Aunt's assistant helping to plan weddings.


They mostly stayed at her dad's because it was closer to the hospital and other things but soon they would be looking into buying a house. " god she looks like you"sun whispered tiredly.
