Fantasy Light Without Sun

Luna smiled. "How do you think it feels to be the icicle of the warm ocean." She said. Her skin was almost white as snow and her hair could rival blinding light. The only sign of life was her eyes. She frowned a bit. "That is why I normally don't talk to people. They call me lifeless and dull, because my skin is pale." She said.

Nami calmed down and drew a map in the sand. "The Deep Dark is Vast, but everything converges on into one point the Dark Scar"

Then she drew a few lines in the ground representing levels of depths. "Monsters reign over all areas below this line. When we get there we have to turn off all light."

Then Nami pointed to her lure. "Bigger fish lure smaller fish with light like mine. so if you see a light... stay away from it... or else you will get eaten. Are we all clear?" she slammed her spear into the ground

Luna nodded. She sighed a bit. "At the least you aren't black and white." She muttered, looking at the ground. She was tired of being the only one without color. She wanted to swim away and cry. But she could never cry. She was strong, resilient. She pushed people away. She looked at the sand beneath her fin, wanting to make a hole and hide in it.

"Don't go towards light, don't go towards light..." Mizu muttered to himself, hoping he would remember it. Usually you would avoid the dark right? But if they were going to the Deep Dark, then that would be impossible right?. Who was this Iku-Torso anyway? Or... they knew, but how would he react when they came? Plus, could he sense Mizu's magic? Hopefully he wouldn't, but he taught Oceanus black magic, no. Positive thoughts! He wouldn't know! He wouldn't know!

Aquinna couldn't help herself. As Mizu repeated "don't go towards the light" like a sutra, she giggled. That's what people said when someone was on the verge of death, here it was oddly out of place. Nami's warning was now properly embedded in her mind this way, at least. "Is it bad being black and white?" She asked, flashing her own relatively colorless scales at Luna, who looked rather sad.

Orielle spoke up then, not wanting to say anything before.

"What if some of us can't go to the Deep Dark? Certain mermaid breeds can't adapt to intense darkness and can potentially be harmed." She asked, thinking of the different types of merfolk in their group. "Are damsel fish able to adapt to that darkness? Or what about you Aquinna? Can you? I'm just making sure so we don't put ourselves into harms way."

Orielle thought of herself. Being a beta fish, her eyes adapted easily in darkness, but she was concerned about the others.

"I'm fine with both the darkness and the temperature, what about you Luna?" Mizu asked as he knew that damselfishes were mostly common in tropical areas, but due to his ice powers, they managed to hold his body far below the limit of 72 degrees. Mizu chuckled when he hear Aquinna giggle, it was good that the mood in the group became a little lighter, it had been heavy for quite some time now. "How are we going to make this Iku-Torso guy to learn us the song, when we first find him that is," Mizu asked the group as he hoped they had a plan and to not barge right in.

Nami turn to Orielle, as long as you stay close to me you wont need to see. "My vision is great in the darkness, Unlike out here with all this light."

Then she scratched her head. "If the darkness bothers you that much then i suppose i could keep my lure on full blast... But that might attract Sharks, and Squids, and other dangerous creatures... and if they see you... i may not be able to stop them..."

Then she giggle imagining killing the shark which killed her papa dying to her spear.

"As for making the Kraken teach us music. I can poke him full of holes till he tells us... I fought big fish before... he cannot be that bad."

Luna looked at her. "How would you feel looking at the world of colors and feeling you have been sapped of all of it. That the only color on you is the thing you can't see." She said, her light violet eyes sad. She had nothing, where as they had no idea how fortunate they were. She had nothing to see. She blended in to the rocks, just one of the other lifeless things out there.

Nami was confuse about luna's statement. In the deep dark, there is no color, only darkness. Why did the color of ones body mattered? But since the white mermaid cared so much about color... She pulled out a bucket of red liquid. She normally used it to hide her lights when stalking monsters.

She Proceeded to paint Luna red, Starting with her back. "I do not understand your obsession with colors but now you are red white and black, Now can we get out of this accursed light. Its giving me a headache."

Luna looked at her arms. She smiled and spun in a circle. "Looks great!" She said, twirling around. She had always loved paint. She watched as tiny spots formed on her skin. She lifted her arms and smiled. "The light is cool for me." She said. "I can see color." She said. She looked at her spots and smiled again before nodding. "Let's go." She said.

Mizu looked at the both of them, working like a team and smiled. It was good to see that they could work together like this, but honestly was going to survive? Thinking of how the temperature might affect her, but he didn't want to be the party breaker. "You sure you can handle the cold Luna? Damselfish are fishes that are used to tropical warmth, the Deep Dark might be a bit cold..." Mizu suggested to her, only worried as he was still somewhat smiling to the both of them.

Aquinna loved watching the little display of comradeship between Luna and Nami. She didn't mind her own, grey and white tail, but if it bothered Luna so much, it was extremely generous of Nami. "The red looks beautiful on you." She told Luna quietly. Hopefully, they'd all make it to Iku-Turso alright. Mizu had a valid point, worrying about Luna's resistance to the cold, but she hoped they didn't have to leave anyone behind.

Nami pulled out her spear and raised it to the sky, "Ready or not, i'm am going on a Kraken hunt." The light bounced off the spear into her eyes. She flinched and rubbed her eyes, "And after I capture the Kraken I will Hunt the Yellow beast called the SUN RAWR BLUP." She aimed her spear at the ball of fire only for the light to bounce of her spear again and hit her in the eye. She raged for 5 seconds and started swimming to the deep dark.

Tridius frowned. "The sun's really far away, you know? Unless we don't have depth perception here?" He then followed Nami and swam over with her. He would follow her to heck and back. But hey, what did he know? He was just a noob in the dark.

"Here Luna, wear these. They'll protect you against the cold... It's a... charm of some sort," Mizu said as the crystals in his jewelry were filled with his magic, it would protect Luna against the cold, but not grant her any sort of magical power. It looked as a normal necklace that Mizu put around her neck. "I'm coming too. This man needs to be stopped, and if there's only one way to do that... then we'll need to find this Iku-Torso guy fast," Mizu said swimming after Tridius and Nami.

Luna accepted the necklace with a nod and followed Mizu. As she swam, the spots started coming off, but she didn't notice. She placed the necklace on her as she swam, following the group as they traveled to find Iku- whatever his name was. She followed them into the dark of he deep dark. She looked around as they traveled.

The group entered the first layer of darkness in the deep dark. Nami turned on the glow on her lure to help guide the team. Everything was barely visible to creatures who required the light and the water temperature was started to cool down.

Nami looked back to check and see if she lost anyone one. Everyone seem to be there so she pulled out her spear and pulled forward. "How is everyone holding up back there"

"We're fine here!" Mizu answered her, trying not to speak on the behalf of the entire group, but most of them seemed to be here and most of them seemed to be doing good too. It was probably a safe bet going that everyone was doing good, even though he was considering giving Luna another piece of his jewelry just to be sure that she wasn't harmed from the temperature dropping, as he could feel it himself.

"The water doesn't seem too drastic of a change yet. And my eyes are adjusting well to the dark. It's different than the ice biome. . ." Orielle replied.

She peered through the dark at all the creatures she was sure were watching them as they saw in the deep dark. Creatures she knew would kill them without hesitation if needed.

Aquinna nodded her agreement at that statement. The temperature and dimness was normal for the ice biome, but it felt different. More dangerous. She bit her lip and kept her eyes peeled for any potential threats.

The group entered the next layer of darkness. Here Nami started dimming her lights as to not attract other creatures. They passed many deadly creatures, one being Giant Whale. Nami complete turned off her lights and shh the group. She pulled out her spear and watched as the creature circled them. She knew of Whales but she had never seen one and she did not know if they where dangerous. In a normal situation she would hunt it down and collect its pelt. Its hide alone would run for a good sum of money in one of the nearby cities, but with such a big group, she had to play on the defensive.

"Pesky over size fish, Shoot shoot," she said calmly waving her spear. The whale did not respond only shorting the radius it's circling pattern, "Does anyone hear speak whale..." She turn to the group. As she finished her sentence small bubbles started rising from the darkness below them followed by the whale's cry. *Insert the sound of a whale*

The bubbles where growing in size. Nami poked one of them with her spear only for the bubble to try and pull the spear away.... She backed into the group And turned on her Lure. The red light illuminated the area so the fish who could not see in the dark had vision a few meters.

Mizu's crystals began glowing once again as he looked around, seeing the bubbles that were coming from beneath them, and the bubbles that were appearing. He took a deep breath, looking over at the whale that was circling them and the bubbles from the dark. He had heard stories of how dangerous the Deep Dark could be, but he wasn't expecting this dangerous. "I'm ready," Mizu muttered to himself, charging up his magic so it was ready for use if necessary.

Fen Hai struggled to keep her scrolls from spilling out of the carrying pouches she had stuffed them into at the library. Not expecting the others to blaze ahead into the Deep Dark without what she considered a cohesive plan or map, she had spent her entire time selecting essays and maps -not all of them up to date but she figured that even sketchy information about the Deep Dark was better than nothing at all. True, they had a denizen of the Deep Dark with them, and Nami seemed like the expert guide they needed to survive out here, but without any research of her own to fall back on made Fen Hai nervous.

When their guide asked for an interpreter, the koi mermaid swam closer to the center of the group, from where she had been hanging out towards the back. "Excuse me, please, but I understand basic whale song. Singing it is a little more difficult, but I believe I could make myself understood." Fen Hai swam closer to the lure mermaid, attempting not to stare at the glowing light at the end of the woman's head stem. "What is it that you wished asked?"

"I don't know..." yelled Nami as she was slowly being pushed into the group by the bubbles. Another whale sound Echoed from above them Completely blocking out the light from above. The whales had the group surrounded. Sure she could get away, she was nimble, fast, and had great vision underwater. The bubbles increased in frequency and the stress was getting to her. Her whole body started glowing, just like the time when her father died.

"Tell them to stop or something," Nami shouted, "DAMN WHALES I will hunt you all down when we are free of our mission. MOCK MY WORDS." All of her lights glowed red which made the area dim a little. She pulled out her spear, "I know i said no lights but if i don't leave the group and attack back we are all dead, so if Fen cannot make them stop somebody pull out a light and make a run for it... I will take out the whale from the side, and somebody take out the whale from below. the rest of the group try to stay alive".
