Rai seemed to stare at him for a bit. Oh, no. Had he over stepped? Then, Rai pulled an arm around his neck and started giving him a noogie which successfully got his hair messed up. Not that he minded or anything. But he did feel a little embarrassed with Rai's joke. He felt like he should at least apologize for not offering to help. But Rai had just seemed so intimidating and there had been a lot going on. His face blushed a bright red when Rai thanked him. He'd thought he failed as a healer there, not offering to help, but maybe it was alright. He could feel Cora thrashing in the bag because Rai had sent him spinning when he'd jumped in for the noogie. Cora was probably not having a good day.
"N-no problem." Mateo said after he had released him from the noogie a few seconds later, his face still being red as ever.
The successfully made their way there and he let the others go first. He'd never done this before, so he watched them as an example before it was his turn.
"Name, age and power, please." The clerk responded with the same thing she had asked for everyone else.
Mateo cleared his throat. He hoped this would go well. "Mateo..." He looked around for ideas for his last name. He didn't want anyone knowing he was a Cabrera. They could've heard about that old legend and turned him in. It's not like that wasn't true, the legend, but that didn't stop him from not wanting people to know. "Green... field..." Ok, yeah, he was horrible at lying. Mika had been a hundred percent right on that one. He literally just put together two things he saw. Green and a field. Why was he the worst at this? "Mateo Greenefield. With an E after Green." He said to sound more convincing, but the nervous smile he did afterwards didn't help his chances. The clerk looked skeptical and prompted him to go on. "Oh, right. Age 16. Nature and weather magic."
The clerk narrowed her eyes at him. He hadn't sounded convincing. And maybe she could tell about the whole spirit scent thing. A second later, she said. "Ok, you're signed up, Mateo. You can go on in."
He did just that, post haste. He turned back to see the clerk whispering to some big, muscular guy. Probably security. She pointed over to him as he ran past into the entrance. Maybe telling the guy to watch out for that one kid in the tourney who seemed suspicious. He shuddered and wandered inside, eventually finding the others.
"So, are there like any rules for this?" He asked the group as he approached. "Or does anything go?" If the latter was the case, then Cora could pretend to be his pet cat and help him out. If it wasn't, then maybe Cora could help another way, because he wasn't so sure about his abilities on his own.
Aiko had hid her tail the best she could and dipped out of the alleyway when the thunder had stopped. She'd heard about the announcement of a tournament. Everyone flooded in one direction and she could smell the scent of food, so she followed.
When she got to the arena grounds, she noticed that there were lines of people to take their seats in the stadium. And the place was huge. But, most of all, they carried food in their hands from various vendors. Her eyes lit up. If she could just fill her belly, then her transformation would be stable for a good while. Plus, she was just hungry and itching to steal something. She followed the others and stuck in with her hood up, her small size helping her to evade security.
