Fantasy Land of the dragon

Kiko watches the young soldier leaves. Once he was gone she stops humming and looks up at Akita. I wonder why a soldier was sent here.. I thought they had people to run errands for them.

"Yeah.. They're usually set up on the outskirts of villages"  Akita wants to follow.. But she has a feeling that she'll be seeing him again. Plus her cramps were way too bothersome to wait any longer for some relief. She picks Kiko up and walks towards the stairs. What is he doing up there..? Akita starts to wonder if he's ever coming back  Galen! Get your butt down here! Kiko yells up the stairs   she won't feed me until you help her!

Kyle gathers all his pencils, papers, and book into his leather satchel and slings it over his shoulder. He looks around not seeing Edur he starts searching the house for him. "Awe man I'm already late.. Where are you Edur?" He wonders. Edur! We gotta go!

Edur creeped along the edge of the room and made a dash for a price of furniture against the wall. When he reached it he tried to crawl behind it, which made the furniture wobble. He let out a tiny, determined growl when he got half his body through the small gap. His back legs pushed against the ground as he tried to crawl the rest of the way forward, his little tail curling back and forth as he heard his master call.

Orian scratched at his legs, whining a little quieter. He looked up at him with pleading eyes, thinking at his master. Hungry

~Galen~

Hungry. Galen leapt back, staring at his dragon with wide eyes. Did Orion just... no, I must be imagining things. Though it occurred to him that his little dragon might be hungry. The poor hatchling hadn't eaten anything but herbs. "I promise I'll get you food. Just as soon as I find out what you eat." He opened his mouth to say something else when Kiko's call rang out from downstairs. He cast a parting glance at Orion, then hurried down to the shop, leaving the door wide open.

"Sorry about that," he answered as he took his place behind the counter. "What can I get for you today?" Galen sat back and awaited her order. He had decided that he'd casually ask about dragon taming as he divvied out her order. That way, he could keep Orion a secret while gathering the knowledge to raise him. It was a decent plan, unless of course she started asking questions.

Sophia walked through the village market, finding amusement in the curious glances that people gave her. Her whip and two daggers were visible on her belt, and her long coat didn't make her seem any less dangerous. Sophia strided with arrogance, tilting her chin upwards in a manner that told others, "I'm better than you."

The girl had just bought a ring for herself, mainly to get a traveling merchant out of her face who had insisted that the crystal inlaid in it brought good luck. Remembering the encounter, Sophia took the piece of jewelry out of a small velvet pouch. Her steps slowed as she examined it. She hadn't realized when she had first bought it, but the silver ring resembled an amphiptere. Where the head and wings met as a bright violet gem of some sort. Amethyst, Sophia thought.

She slid the ring onto her left hand, the tail of the dragon reaching her bottom knuckle. Without realizing it, Sophia came to a halt, admiring her new possession. Too occupied to pay attention to her surroundings, she didn't hear the hasty footsteps coming from the opposite direction.

His mind was racing as fast as he was running. Finally, the egg has hatched. I wonder what I am going to call her. I have a baby dragon in my backpack! And I am her Tamer! I'm a Dragon Tamer! Tanis had never felt so alive. For now, at least, he could forget about his crappy life and smile, and laugh with genuine joy. As he rushed past the market stalls his mind was somewhere else entirely.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, he realized he was nearing the end of the market. That's when he saw her. Some rich girl, just standing there. Tanis had little to no time to react, seeing as how he was four or five feet away from her and he was going full speed. Two things went through his mind as he tried, unsuccessfully, to glance off of her. One, this was going to hurt. And two, protect the dragon. As he and the girl fell to the ground, Tanis twisted his body so his back was to the sky. After that, he had point five seconds to see the rough cobble meet his face.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               @Veno @Ignace

Kyle hears something moving from under his sofa so he walks over to see Edur halfway under the sofa. He softly laughs and grabs him out from under the sofa. Gotcha.. Lets get to work. he boops his nose with his finger then sets him in his large inside coat pocket. He holsters his twin blades then dashes out the door to the library. After a few minutes he makes it inside and heads to the front desk. He sits behind the desk then peeks in his pocket.  We're here.. You can come out if you want there lots of space for you to run. he opens up the pocket for him to jump out then takes out a small rubber tire toy for him from his other pocket.

It's fine, she smiles at him  So I've been having some muscle cramps lately and I'm needing some Valerian root. Just enough for a couple days.

Tanis was smart enough to turn his body when he had collided with the girl and was falling to the ground, leaving the dragon unhurt- if he had fallen on top of the bag, he surely would have crushed the poor thing. However this did not mean everything was perfect for the baby dragon. Once he had crashed to the ground, the momentum sent Kara flinging to the top of the bag, and evidently, it snapped open, sending the baby dragon tumbling out of the bag, rolling and skidding across the ground a bit with a few small yelps and yips.

She quickly recovered though, and didn't really suffer any damage besides maybe a small bruise. Kara quickly rolled over onto her legs and stood herself up, for the first time she felt the ground beneath her feet. her bright eyes widened a bit and shimmered as her mouth opened in a sort of smile while her ears perked up. The hatchling began jumping around quite excitedly and happily, running, prancing and pouncing around as its tail lashed from side to side happily and it let out purrs of happy squeaks and yips. Kara ran forward- with a slight lack of balance, as she fell halfway to her destination, but quickly got back up to continue- towards a patch of grass. Immediately, and naturally, she tried to eat it. She bit at the grass a bit before rolling her small body down into it. Kara panted just slightly and happily, the little critter was simply adorable.

After a few moments of playing and running around, ecstatic to see the world, experiencing all of these new feelings, smells and sights, she spotted Tanis on the ground, she paused a moment before quickly bounding forward. She hadn't recognized him yet as her tamer or anything like that, it would take a while before a connection like that would occur, she was really just curious, and recognized his scent from the bag she was in. Kara quickly leaped up onto him with a content purr, the small creature was incredibly light, she quickly walked up onto his chest, her ears twitching a bit as she leaned her head closer to his, at first a slight moment of caution before she delivered a few small licks to his cheek with a few bright squeaks.

"Valerian root. Got it." He ducked under the counter and pretended to sort through his store of herbs. While he was down there, he set aside the jars of salve for the order that had been left by the soldier, then resumed his stalling once again. "If you don't mind me asking, how exactly does one go about raising a dragon? Just for curiosity's sake."

A figure briefly appeared in Sophia's peripheral vision before she painfully struck the ground. Luckily for her, she landed in a sitting  position. She cursed before dusting herself off. The girl quickly rose off the ground and turned her attention to the person who had run into her. She briefly checked her ring for any damage before confronting the boy.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" she growled. "You're lucky that you didn't break anything. You..." Sophia's voice trailed off as she witnessed the baby dragon excitedly approach the boy and lick his face. She was puzzled and wasn't sure what to say. She hadn't seen the little creature tumble out of the bag in the first place, so she was quite confused.

Tempest // Boise

'Well, what have we here?' Tempest trilled softly when her leaf green eyes caught sight of a newcomer, an inquisitive gleam shining in her orbs. 'This surely isn't something I come across everyday out here.' She thought as she uncoiled herself from her tree, silently slithering to the ground unnoticed.

Admittedly, Tempest's curiosity was piqued. It had been quite a long time since she's encountered a soldier during these peaceful times, especially one so young as this one. She found herself slowly moving across the ground towards him, her serpentine form twisting in an oscillating motion as she gradually grew closer. The Amphiptere soon began to wonder why the other had yet to notice her steadily approaching. After all, she wasn't exactly the most subtle of creatures, as quiet as she was for a duration of the time, and he could have at least heard her birdsong. Though perhaps he was just brooding to himself, oblivious to the world around him as he focused on his own thoughts. By the time that notion had crossed her mind, she was already directly behind him.

Deciding that she might as well surprise him, Tempest raised her head just until she was looming over the young man, casting a dark shadow over his form. Then, staying true to her snake-like appearance, she hissed loudly, spreading her wings in a threatening manner.

Edur let out a squeak of indignance and writhed around in his master's hands. He eventually stopped struggling but let out an annoyed huff, showing he was clearly put out that his plan failed. He looked at Kyle and blinked surprisedly when his nose was booped. He shook his head and kinda pawed at nose as he was set inside the coat pocket. He knew this coat pocket well. He liked the smell. Smelled like Kyle. Edur, his past annoyance ocmpletely forgotten, happily curled up and enjoyed the ride.

When they arrived and Kyla thought to him, he happily scrambled around in the pocket to find his footing. Then he jumped out and snatched the rubber toy, landing on the desk. He set it down, squeaked at Kyle, then picke dit up and hopped off the desk to play at Kyle's feet.

Tanis groaned and tasted the warm metallic taste of blood. From the pain, he could tell that his nose wasn't broken, but it was damn close to breaking. Eyes closed, he heard someone yelling at him, presumably the girl. His head was ringing and his nose felt like a balloon about to pop. The last thing Tanis needed was to be yelled at. Lucky for him, she suddenly stopped. At about the same time, he felt the little dragon climb on top of him and start licking his face.

"Okay, okay... Quit licking me..." He mumbled, before opening his eyes. The cute little thing was unhurt, and that's all he cared about. His nose was still trickling blood so he used one hand to keep his nose shut and the other to grab the dragon before sitting up. From there, Tanis unsteadily got to his feet and looked at the girl through the mess that was his hair. After a short wait, Tanis spoke up. "Help you with something?" Sarcasm dripped from his voice as his gestured towards his full hands and grinned.

Kara chirped out as he mumbled to her and picked her up as Tanis unsteadily stood up to his feet. Kara shifted within his grip, squeaking out and purring somewhat loudly and happily, she rubbed her small body against his arm and body as she was being held, her ears perked up and twitching a bit as Tanis spoke to the girl. After a few moments, Kara, curious and mischief, began trying to pull and squeeze out of Tanis`s grip with a few chirps and squeaks coming from her vocals, her tail wagging slowly as she shakes her wings a bit before folding them back against her body.

The small dragon actually managed to get out of his hold, she just barely balanced herself on his arm, being a newborn hatchling, she still had to get used to keeping her balance and what not. She lowered herself down into a low crouch as she stared down the ground, it seemed as if she was trying, or contemplating on jumping down, however it was much too far down for her to be comfortable, The small dragon squeaked quietly, she was too afraid to jump from this height, so she remained in that stance, as if she was moments away from jumping, though she never did.

However, just at that moment, some guy walking by bumped his shoulder against Tanis, that small bump was enough to throw Kara off balance, and in an instant she fell forward. the small creature yelped out as she naturally tried to flap her wings in a small panic, though of course they didn't do anything, she was too small and weak to be able to fly. Kara hit the ground on her feet with a small thud, she had landed on her feet but immediately after lost balance and tumbled onto her side, before rolling back over to her feet. She was fine.

Kara quickly pounced over to the unknown girl, jumping over to her feet she sniffed her quietly out of curiosity as she walked over onto her feet, and ended up standing up on her hind legs, with her front paws up on her leg, looking up to her for a moment out of curiosity and interest.

Ten more soldiers arrived in town, all on foot this time and they waved greetings to their comrades in arms of whom were still by the Magistrates house. They led a horse and cart by the reigns and set a course for the local Market where the lot proceeded to buy a few casks of good quality ale, a large numbers of potatoes’, carrots and flour along with a small bag of coffee and tea. For the Commander. Man just wasn’t the same without a good cup of coffee so the men were always sure to refresh his supplies whenever in town. It was a little thing that they did gladly, after all he had gotten them through thick and thin.

After loading the supplies up and heading on back out they passed once more by the Magistrates office.

“Ho! Argus did you see Koen by any chance on the road up here?”

“Koen? No Sergeant. Did not see the lad at all. Why?”

“Boy was supposed to be back half a mark ago with that burn salve for Carn. Havent seen a wick of him since he went off to the Apothecary.”

“Awww you know the lad, probably off sketching something or daydreaming in a field.”

“Aye I do, normally I don’t mind but Carn needs that salve. That albino bitch got him good, albeit from his own stupidity rushing forward without signal. It’ll teach him and the rest of the greenhorns.”

Koen Raad

The Young Soldier in question was indeed out and about, lost in his own musings and deep in thought about all manner of things. Questions and queries which he had no right answer to, or at the very least no right answer he could clearly see.
So lost in his thoughts was he that his senses, and carefully honed instincts never picked up on the Apex predator lurking behind him until it hissed in which Koen Raad reacted, fast, and violently as the Captain had taught him.

Whirling about, hand on the dirk drawing it from its sheathe in one smooth motion he made to take a plunge attack down-
The young Soldiers blade stopped just short of the Amphiptere’s thick scaled skin.
Slowly, oh so slowly the young man rose his head up, eyes drinking in the sight before him to meet the Serpentile beasts own eyes.
A little voice in the back of his head muttered. ‘See? Told you there would be others, and look at those eyes! Gorgeous.’
Whilst a much louder voice screamed. ‘Fuuuuuuucked.’

Koen Raad was an adept soldier and dragonkiller t’was true in his own right. But that was with a full contingent of men running each their specific task to kill such a beast. Him alone versus a creature as such? Not a chance. Besides, had he not spent almost an entire mark of the candle roaming these woods pondering over this very act? Aside from the vicious hiss it hadnt out right attacked him and could simply be showing its displeasure at him so close to its home.
So slowly the Young Soldier lowered his dirk, still staring into those eyes with his own Oceanic dark blue eyes he rose the hand that held the blade and gave the creature a tentative wave.

'I can't say that I'm surprised by this outcome.' Tempest thought, amusement swirling in her leaf green eyes as she slowly folded her wings once more, taking on a more relaxed stance than the one before. 'Though he had reacted much quicker than I expected.' She warbled in delight, quite pleased with what she had just witnessed.

Tempest was definitely more amused than she should have been, considering the fact that she was quite literally an inch from a swift death. Not that he would have killed her, the young man before her didn't seem like the sort to end another's life without a valid enough reason, and it appears that she was right in her judgement. At his rather tentative wave, the Amphiptere lowered her head in a deep bow in return. He was most certainly a lot more polite than the many other soldiers she had encountered in the past, but she supposed that times have changed during the past century she had lived.

Shifting her eyes from the boy to the dragon he had just lifted from the ground, Sophia shook her head rapidly in disbelief and sighed. "I'm assuming she's yours. For a tamer, you're pretty clumsy." Noticing a drop of blood trickling down the boy's arm, Sophia took out a handkerchief from a small pouch on her belt and handed it out to him. "Here. If anything hurts from your fall, I can help you." For the most part, she had calmed down, but there was still a hint of annoyance in her voice.

Sophia observed as a man walking by brushed against the tamer's shoulder. The little dragon fell out of her master's hand, and Sophia couldn't help but giggle as it hit the ground, struggling to maintain balance. "My brother's a tamer, but I'm pretty sure he didn't act this foolish when his dragon first hatched." She checked her ring again, ensuring there were no scratches. When she broke away from it, the tiny beast was focused on her. Its eyes and tiny yelps made her smile. "My father loves tamers. He's one of the few merchants who has dedicated their wares to them."

She kneeled on both her knees and held out her hand to the curious creature before looking back up at the boy with a sharp look. "Don't think I'm not upset anymore. I'm just trying not to drive away potential business." The baby dragon's behavior had already calmed her, but Sophia still felt the need to act tough.

Koen Raad stares at the Serpentine dragoness with a mixture of reservation, blatant admiration, and wariness in those dark blue orbs of his though his facial expression remained perfectly neutral throughout the exchange.

His unarmed hand had begun to reach out as if he wished to touch the red scales that marked the She-Dragons breast. Feathers? He had not yet seen a dragon with feathers, they mostly hunted western dragons. Koen did not recognize her breed.
With a force of will the Young Soldier lowered his hand and took a couple steps back to gaze at the beast in her entirety.

His hands itched to draw those curves, right alongside those little fae jewels from earlier but such sensations were easily crushed underneath the weight of… that’s a dragon fool, ruuuuuuun. Basic human instinct was to do just that, Koen Raads training had beaten it mostly out of him, however he had seen firsthand many a times what a pissed off dragon was capable of. Never mind the females.

The entire time those thoughts were going through his head the Young Soldier was slowly backing away until the back of his Hessian boots caught a root and his other foot slipped on the loamy, damp, leaf covered ground sending the Journeyman rather ungracefully into the earth where his head hit another upraised root with a resounding wet thwack.

As Koen Raad holds the back of his head, acutely aware of the now damp spot underneath his skullcap/woolen beanie, he has to send a quick prayer to the gods that only the dragon witnessed that because whilst the dragon could kill him, by all that is holy if the Captain or any of the Iron Wolves saw that shit he would have never heard the end of it. Those evil bastards would have laughed at him beyond the grave even after they all had died and gone to hell. Probably from laughing so fucking hard they died from lack of oxygen.

The Young Soldier removes a finger from the back of his head to stare at his fingers now tinted crimson.
'Well... at least its my blood this time.' He thought bitterly, wincing from the horrible bump he just new was going to be there in a few candle marks.

Laughs at his question  Well there's no simple answer to that question..  Like what kind of dragon are we talking about? Western Dragon? A Fae? Do they breathe anything dangerous or do they constantly sing to make you cry. Akita gives Kiko a hard quick glance, meaning the last part mostly for Kiko. Kiko is a Fae dragon that has the ability to influence people's emotions by just singing. Well when they first met they didn't always meet eye to eye and Kiko would make Akita cry when she was mad at her.

Kyle smiles and pulls out his things from his leather satchel and starts jotting down sites where he'll want to visit to start digging for artifacts "Kuna old war burial site: partial buried. Boise old Town Library: in ruins and mostly buried. Boise Old State Penitentiary: completely buried." I hope you like digging Edur..

Galen's head spun with all her questions. There were multiple types of dragons, each of which required different training? This made things immeasurably more difficult, especially since he didn't know exactly what type Orion even was. Dragon taming is more complex than I initially thought. Since he couldn't very well ask specifics without giving his little dragon's existence away, he decided to go with a vague response. "Just in general. I've heard from passing merchants that they can be especially troublesome when they're little."

Well.. Dragons need a lot of love and attention to create a bond between "you" and him. The stronger the bond the more loyal the dragon and you'll be able to speak to each other through telepathy. Hatchlings need to be played with or have toys to play with or they will act out and destroy everything.

Now I know this from my brother that dragons that breathe fire or anything really hot they like warm milk and it helps with all the.. Scorching accidents. Ice dragons just need regular milk.

Also you need to make sure to discipline your dragon when they do something they shouldn't and reward them when they do something good..  Akita knows that these aren't just hypothetical questions but she doesn't want to push him into telling her if he doesn't want to. I haven't raised a baby dragon in awhile Galen so I can't tell you everything you want to know.. A lot of the time they'll teach you everything about them and their needs.. she smiles softly  you just need to listen..

Edur flopped around Kyle's feet, batting at the rubber toy and snapping his little teeth. When he finally laid down to knaw on it, he heard his master think some words to him. Edur let out a tiny, distracted growl. He was so young that he couldn't think back. Thankfully, he could understand. Any dragon could understand English as a hatchling. Part of their magic. But it took a little while for them to actually think it. He definitely want at that point yet. His master said ape thing about digging... Edur liked to dig. Sometimes he did it so he could hide, or bury treasure he found. He tilted his head, jumping to his scaly feet. Treasure! He should look for treasure. Edur looks around, sniffing and pawing at the ground.

He smiled back. "Taming a dragon sounds like quite the adventure. I'll make sure to remember this for Ori-" His breath hitched as he stopped just short of uttering his little dragon's name. If he was going to keep his dragon a secret from his father, he'd need to get better at hiding things. "I mean, if I ever get a dragon." Ducking back down, he pulled out some valerian root and set it on top of the counter. "Sorry that took so long. It seems my father mixed the labels up."

Orion frowned, looking around the room, hoping there was something to eat. He padded around the room, pulling open the cabinet doors, finding more of those strange colored leaves. He hissed at them, knocking over a jar as it shattered to the floor. He puffed smoke at the glass shards before hoping over to the (torn to shreds) bed. He scratched himself up a miniature nest, padding around it to get comfy before curling up and lying down. He spat a bit of fire at the bed to warm himself up, feeling nice and comfy, but still hungry.

Unaware to himself, the smell of smoke was starting to fill up the room

Tanis just stared at this girl as she spoke and, eventually, offered him a handkerchief. Cautiously taking his hand away from his bloody nose, he felt that it had stopped bleeding. He wiped his hand on his jeans and brushed back his hair before accepting the handkerchief. As he cleaned the blood from his face and hands, Tanis examined her more closely. He saw that she was older than he first thought. Probably around her mid-twenties. It was the ridiculous outfit she was wearing that made her seem younger. It was rather provocative and this thought made Tanis smile to himself.

Just as he was about to say something smart, someone passing by and bumped into him, causing the baby dragon to fall from his grasp. His eyes widened when she hit the ground but he breathed a sigh of relief as she quickly got on her feet, unharmed. Tanis figured he would let her explore a little and didn't bother going after her as she went up to the woman. She kneeled down to pet the cute little thing and she spoke as she did this. From the sound of it, She was offering help with the dragon. Even if she didn't outright say it, Tanis had a way with words and knew what people really meant with theirs.

"So let me get this straight, you want to help me. After all this?"
