Realistic or Modern Just a Petty Criminal

Davin said nothing, stepping toward Will with measured movements. He placed his hand over the one with the knife, squeezing. His already bloodied hand began to drip from a new wound.

"Chill. Out." he said, looking into Will's cold eyes. There was no trace of the warmth he had grown to know. "I don't care why you are so mad at me. I don't get why I am in the wrong. But you try to kill me, and I'll make sure you are on your way yo hell with me. Got it?" he asked, close to his ex's face.

Will glared back for a few seconds, glancing at Dav's blood dripping down his arm, before he started to laugh. He yanked his arm away from the man, cracking his neck and grinning maniacally. "You really DONT get it do you..." He chuckled, knowing it would only irritate the man further.

"You're already in hell, and it's not even because of me," he snickered, pushing past him and out the door. "You're just too caught up in your stupid plan to see it coming!" He shouted the last bit over his shoulder before slamming open the door to the stairwell, still laughing in the way down.

She looked at the bottle, now that sounded tempting. But still, Skye didn't want to go too deep. She could feel that it was becoming a problem, she couldn't help it. Damn it, she thought to herself. "I...I dunno..I.. How?"

"OK, see I walk in through the back and climb through the vent, you walk in the front and act like a stupid person. Also wear a wig to look like a dumb blonde, any way destract him. And then after I get the money I know a guy who will give me anything I want for a stupid piece of silk.," Ares explained

Rubbing her arms, she still wasn't sure. She didn't take orders from anyone except her boss, but she needed drink, more of it. "..Okay fine."

She followed him, shame in her chest. Her bottle was stuffed back in her pocket. Skye hated jobs, especially these ones. She felt cheap and used, although, at least she was feeling something.

Today had pretty much started off good, with strangers taking her to breakfast, now it seemed like any other day. "...And what's the payment? I can't just be payed in vodka you know.. I'm not that bad."

Davin stantered toward the door of the apartment. "Lee, this is Marissa." he said, a bit breathless. "I'm sorry, I'll make your favorite dish to.make up for all this. But," he turned back to look at the asian girl, "I need him as much as I need you. Not for...the plan." He then turned back and headed out of the door.

Getting to the elevator, he pressed the button for.the lobby. He was hoping that he'd at least catch his trail before the man left. Will's words burned the back of his mind. Was he really being so blind, so reckless? And would he be able to pull back from the brink of oblivion?

Liam couldn't tell exactly what he was feeling at the moment. There had been too many emotions swirling around inside him, and the moment Davin had walked in that door, he had shut them out. It was easier to feel nothing, to be empty, then to have to feel and sort through all the angst. So he had, and it was exactly the same persona he had when he was on the hunt - blunt, impassive, and completely unreachable. The feeling of caring about absolutely nothing and no one was a pleasure he usually didn't let himself enjoy, he'd resist, knowing what he was capable of while he was in the mood.

Unless he was pushed into it.

He just walked, not really knowing where he wanted to go, or what he wanted to know. He found himself at a busy intersection, stopping as he noticed the large group or people waiting to cross the street. He snorted, walking through them, and out into the street, not even flinching as a car swerved, nearly hitting him. He was done waiting, and hiding, from himself and everyone else. Another car passed him, the wind from it blowing his hair in all directions. He had made it to the little island line between the four lanes, and he stood on it, contemplating if he should continue into oncoming traffic or just watch the shocked faces of the people who had seen him cross the street.

Leon needed a package delivered. It was large, wrapped in brown paper, with a neat bow-tie on top. A "Happy Birthday" card was taped to it, with the message "From Uncle Leon" attached. Despite the apparent innocence of it all, the package itself contained enough coke to fuel a night-long junkie party. It was to be delivered to one of his dealers, a young man by the name of Lenny who had been using some of his supply. In an organization as strict as Leon's, there are multiple rules.

Number 1 for dealers? The product is not for your consumption. And so, Leon intended to rectify this problem. The coke he was sending to Lenny was fatally toxic. Him, and all his pathetic friends, would die within ten minutes of intense suffering. He had a woman already lined up to take the position anyway, the only logistics issue now was to deliver the package.

He sent out the call, looking for someone insignificant, who had enough time in their day to carry the package and get paid for it.

Davin had just walked out of the building when he felt his phone vibrate. Looking at the screen, he saw the number was restricted. As he swiped the phone screen, he took notice to the direction he'd seen Will run off to. "Go for Dav." He answered, feigning a pleasant voice for whoever it was.

He'd spotted William heading to a middian in the road. 'Hopefully, he'll stay there until I can get to him.' Dav thought as he waved the man down and held on to the call with his other hand.

Lee sighed at Liam's question. What was Davin like? "Sure, I guess we're close...um..." she hesitated. "I dunno. I mean, one minute he's decking people in the face...not me, thankfully, and the next he's baking pies..." She paused. This was difficult. To be honest, Lee never gave much thought to why she stuck around Davin- it just happened. "I guess he's sort of contradictory at times, but I know he means well. Not the most cautious person, and sometimes I feel like he's always telling me what to do." Lee shrugged. "But I actually don't mind so much- I'm more of a follower anyways, and at least I don't have too much time to be bored nowadays. There's just something about him that makes him different, and I don't think I'll ever be able to rid myself of him, ya know? Kinda sticks with you like glue... But I trust him, which is saying a lot for me. For a guy who's had it rough, he's about as faithful and true as they come." Lee finished with a nod and a small smile.

"Speak of-" she started, wondering when Davin was going to come back with Alexander. But just then the door opened, and knives were flying. At this point, Lee would've been surprised...but instead she was thinking 'What the hell am I still doing here?' for about the fifth time today. Besides, she didn't really believe Liam would've killed Davin. He was just a little pissed, and reasonably so, but that was all, right? Not that Lee knew much about relationships or exes, but still...

Lee started to give Davin an are-you-kidding-me look, actually expecting him to make her go chase Liam down and use her "rational skills" to talk to the guy. However, when he just introduced Marissa before dashing after the man himself, Lee wasn't so bothered. And she would've gone anyways if he asked her to, but she was glad Davin was going after Liam himself- it was only right. Lee turned her attention to the other two and gave a shrug. "It's not always like this," she assured them. She noticed the confusion on Alex's face, since he didn't know who Liam was. "That was Liam. Or...William... He's not so bad, really. But you won't like him when he's angry," she said with a slight smirk. "So you're the infamous Marissa, huh? I tried calling you but, I guess you were a little busy..." Lee glanced back at Alex. "Better be more careful, Alex...getting bested by a girl, just like that..." she teased.

Liam noticed Davin across the road, as he waved frantically at him. He thought for a moment, before giving the German the finger and deliberately stepped out into the street, inching farther and farther in.

He chuckled to himself as he stared up at the currently red light, willing it to turn green before Davin got to him. He wondered if His ex would continue his ridiculous plan if Liam's brains were splattered all over the asphalt. You couldn't take down an empire without your attack dog, now could you? No. Got to keep it on a leash, tie it to a tree or something. And when it suits you, let it go, let it rip it's prey to pieces...

Heh. Woof woof.

Liam smiled, hands in his pockets, leering at the man from his spot.

Leon tapped his fingers on the desk in front of him, holding a phone to his ear with the other hand. "Go for Dav." A voice answered the call.

"Hello, Davin." He said plainly, a smirk across his face. "Listen closely, Dav. I am not one to waste words, and you don't seem to be one to waste time. So I'm going to make this simple and fast, so that we both come out of this happy men." He continued, glancing down at a map of the city as he spoke. "Word on the street is that you have ambition. That's a good thing, truly. You know what the problem with ambition is, though? Sometimes, it leads you right off a cliff. So I suggest you think very carefully about your next move, kid. If you don't, I'm killing your fucking cat first. Goodbye, Dav." He thumbed the end call button, then hung up and set the phone on his desk.

"Come on!" Davin groaned, walking into the street. He passed the incoming traffic, heading nothing but scuffling and gunshots on the other end of his call. He didn't like the tone the call was setting. He strode over to Will and tackled him across the street. Landing on top of the man--stradling his waist--, he smirked. "Well....this is new." He chuckled, frozen in place.

Alexander stepped aside when they went past him, not really intervening in the happening when they didn’t seem to go for each others throats again. This Liam-person barely seemed to register him even, it was obvious that there was some kind of story between the two. He walked into the apartment as they had passed him and looked over at Lee who seemed to have caught onto his momentary confusion. “Ah…” he said, although even with a name on, he still didn’t know the guy.

He made a face when she mentioned that he had been tricked by a girl. He lifted his hands in defense, “Actually, I was tricked by a pick-pocketer who happened to be female, so… and we caught her too,” he added with a shrug, looking over at Marissa with a smile.

Lilian had gotten notice from some sources that Leon had wanted to see her about a package delivery. She had not been comfortable with the news. She was really a nobody, but maybe that was why he had wanted to see her. She was not a girl that anyone would remember from anywhere. She had no close friends or was members of any gangs. At first she had thought of not taking the job, but since it was paid it would be foolish not to give it a go. It was only a package delivery too. She should be able to do that much.

She had gone to the address she had been given, and there was a few people that escorted her to where the infamous man was suppose to be, so she could pick up the package. In front of the door, she was send to wait while one of the men knocked on the door. She felt kind of misplaced, and rubbed her arm, looking around with flickering eyes. She had heard quite the rumors about this man.

"Get off. Now."

Liam didn't even bother to fight against the other man, just leveled him with the most hateful glare he could muster. He quickly calculated just how fast he could get to the knife in his pocket if Davin refused. Oh he wouldn't destroy anything vital, but he wouldn't mind getting back at Dav for the earlier punch in the face. He really wasn't in a joking mood...the man set him on edge, and right now, not in a good way.

"Come in!" Leon called, hearing the knock at the door. A girl was ushered in moments later, and she appeared lost, to put it simply. "So you must be the new runner." He said, gesturing for her to approach the desk. "You'll be paid up front, $300. You lose this package or don't deliver it, and I will know. Do not disappoint me." He said, then lifted the package up and set it on the front of the desk. "Or I will find you. And you really don't want that."

"I'm not moving until we fix this…"

Davin really didn't like the look Will was giving him. It made his skin go cold, slowed down his heart beat. He held the phone off to the side before pulling him to his chest, creating electric sparks of fury between the two.

"I want you back. You know why I started all this? To find you. I thought the danger would bring ya back. Is that it? Am I not dangerous enough? Am I not good looking enough anymore? Did you find a new bitch? I'll beat the fuck out of her, ya know."

His words were becoming incomprehensible and so was the situation. Davin flailed around in his head trying to find a reason.

"You can head the operation. You can have anything. Just stay. Don't make me say it, Will."

Lilian walked into the room, and when she was in there she motioned some hair behind her ear so she could see better. She measured the man with her dark eyes, tilting her head a bit. “Yeah..” she answered when he asked if she was the new runner. So this was how he looked… he was handsome, not what she expected. She looked at the package that mostly looked like something for a birthday party. She put a hand on top of it to show that she was understanding his terms. Her expression looked neither frightened or happy for that matter. 300 dollars sounded pretty good for a simple delivery though. “Sounds easy enough, do you have the money here or does the man I deliver to?” she asked him simply. Not really interested in what was inside of it.

Liam was exasperated, not even seeing the logic behind the reasons Davin was throwing out. "Head the operation? You really think I'm doing this so I can take over your nonexistent kingdom, Dav?" He shook his head, sneering.

"You're so damn full of yourself you know. Picking a fight with the most powerful and feared man in the city just to find someone who ditched you without explanation a year ago? And yeah, I know that was my fault, don't need to be reminded. But seriously, isn't there a brain in there at all? Liam was on a roll now, letting all the pent up frustration exit him, not even bothering to censor his annoyance.

"Then, to top it all off, you sock me in the jaw, then forgive me, then turn around only to say that you want me to be a damn contract killer. Is that what you see me as now? Some mindless lackey to kill off the bad guys for you?" He shook his head, disgusted. "No. Hell no. But I guess I should thank you for one thing - I have no problem killing people now," he said, drawing the knife with lightning speed and laying it across Davin's throat, this time deliberately.

"Do it. You know you want to."

Davin sat there, glaring at the man who had his heart in pocket. In that moment, he felt something foe the first time in a long time. Regret. He regretted that he'd somehow broken Will. He regretted that he was using people. He regretted that he was already 12 steps back because of his foolishness. A kingdom? More like a sandcastle. And the tide was at his throat now.

"Please....I can't, Willie." he pleaded, the haze of coke disappearing again. "I need you to feel."

"Here's your cash." Leon replied, sliding a bundle of twenties across the table. "More of that coming if you keep doing good work. I've always got room for talent in my organization, for those who want it. Now go on, I've got other things to attend to." He added, waving Lillian away.

Davin was right. He really, really wanted to let the blade slide across his throat, wanted to cut loose the one person that could affect him like no other. The muscles in his arm tightened, as he prepared to do what he couldn't do the first time. He clenched his teeth, gripping the blade tightly in his fingers.

In the end, it was the nickname that had saved them. That name, no one else had ever called him - he would have gutted anyone who tried - it brought him back to when they were together.

Davin had used it when he was happy, content during a quiet night on the Island. He'd used it when Liam caught him wearing those dreadful crocs. And he'd even used it the first time they'd met, that very first day when Dav was so sure what he wanted and Liam wouldn't give him the time if day if he'd begged for it.

He dropped the knife, watching it as it clattered to the ground, laying still in the sidewalk. Slowly, his hand came down from Davin's face, visibly shaking as he did so. He kept his head down, so Davin wouldn't see the tears that had started falling from his eyes, cascading down his cheeks as he realized just how big of a mistake he'd almost made-a second time.
