Realistic or Modern Just a Petty Criminal

She saw the boy approach her and sit down, her heart pounded in her chest, and her head was pounding too. Another human being, talking to her? What could they possibly want? Her body began to freeze up, but she tried to relax, really wishing she hadn't thrown down her flask the previous night. His words echoed off dead ears, and she kept her eyes on his shoes. She dragged herself from her daze and looked at him, smiling, "I wish." His smile relaxed her somewhat, the rest of the stone faced people gave her nightmares, a smile was what she needed. "No, I...I must've just...crashed here. I took a walk and..well.." She chuckled slightly at her own incompetence, "I guess I fell asleep."

Agnes wasn't quite thinking straight.

She hadn't slept all night, for starters. It took some effort, but she'd spent the night just getting here and between her nerves and paranoia, she hadn't been able to relax at all. The trip had been on incredibly short notice; someone noticed her "borrowing" money for lunch the previous day and made a fuss about it, so she hauled ass out of that town and found herself in this one. She'd scarcely had anything to eat since hightailing it, since she only had what money she'd managed to pilfer, which hadn't been much before someone noticed, and whatever crappy food she found during her travels.

So now, she had a few priorities: find somewhere to stay, find something to eat, and find somewhere to sleep, not necessarily in that order. She had a little money left, since she'd managed to ration her rewards from the previous day, and was planning to get breakfast and then get some sleep. Later, she'd look for a way to actually earn money, one way or another. But necessities first. With that in mind, Agnes looked around, saw two people sitting at a bench, and decided to ask them for some help.

Agnes yawned, rubbed her eyes, straightened her back, and walked right over to them. "Sorry to interrupt," she said, "but would either of you know where I might be able to get something to eat? Really cheap?"

Liam let himself relax into the other man's embrace, burying his face into the crook of Davin's shoulder before he too let go. He noticed Davin scratching his arm, and immediately felt a stab of irritation. He knew he had less than no say in The German's life right now, but he hoped to high heaven that Davin hadn't gonna back to drugs. He stepped back, keeping a straight face to mask his annoyance as he shrugged. "It up to you," he said, looking at his semi ex.

Alexander finished tying his shoelace and then let his shoe drop back on the ground. He leaned his elbows on his knees, looking over at her calmly, as if talking to a stranger on a bench was completely natural to him. But her words made him chuckle a little in disbelief. That was not the answer he had expected for his casual comment. “You just… took a walk, and then decided to sleep on the bench?” he asked her, tilting his head a bit, having to adjust his hat back before it fell off. She had obviously peeked his overly curious self.

“Guess I have been that high too,” he joked and reached out a hand. “I’m Alexander,” he said.

Then he looked up when a new girl came toward them, and lifted his hat up a bit. He pursed his lips and thought about it. “Um… the cafe would be my first idea..” he mumbled looking over his shoulder to where it was. Then he cracked a smile. “I was just going to eat breakfast, if you two want to join-“ he shrugged his shoulder, looking between them. He was truly to careless with who he approached at times, but what the hell.

'Two people in the space of two minutes? Geeze, I'm getting popular.' She thought. Despite her anxiety growing, she smiled at her as she approached. She felt she could relate, money was certainly an issue, and it looked like it wasn't just an issue for Skye. She lived off of cheap ready meals and whatever she could scoff down when out on business, which was rare nowadays.

"That sounds like fun actually, Alexander." She glanced at him, then rested her eyes upon Agnes, "Tight for money too, hm? Glad I'm not the only one." Turning slightly to face both of them, she decided it was time to introduce herself, "Now, not like I usually go falling asleep on benches or anything..and talking to people this early is rather alien to me, but I'm Skye. Heh..uhm..nice to meet you two." She cringed at her own words and tried to swallow them back down.

Agnes remembered to smile in response - it was a generous offer to go for breakfast with someone whose name you didn't even know. She'd be a little more cautious if she had her wits about her, but at the moment, she was too exhausted and hungry to care very much. "Yeah, not great with money," Agnes said, and mentally added to say the least. "Cafe for breakfast sounds good to me. My name is Agnes; nice to meet you two," she said, stifling a yawn. "Which way is that cafe again?"

Alexander send her a relaxed smile. “Then let’s do it, I’m Alexander by the way,” he said to the second girl, and patted his pockets. He had a few curled up bills down there, and he normally didn’t have a lot of cash on him, but since he had gotten a free meal yesterday he could spare a little extra, and he loved to meet new people. Because he was strange like that. And it might also by why he had so many strange connections.

“Nice to meet you Skye and Agnes,” he said, and then stood up. After this, he so needed a smoke, he was seriously starting to crave it. He stood up from the bench and gestured toward the café. Seriously, if he could just get guys to randomly meet him and have dinner with him, then he might even have a boyfriend by now. Oh the irony.

He looked over his shoulder to see if the girls were even following him, having a relaxed smile on his lips.

She felt a shiver run down her spine as she stood, 'Damn', she thought, 'I knew I'd get a cold.' Having a quick glance around for her flask and quickly realising it was obviously taken, she sighed and declared it dead and gone. Despite this, she was feeling rather optimistic about this trip to the cafe, her anxiety wasn't so crushing anymore.

Stuffing her hands in her pockets, she followed him, fixing her hair as she walked. "If only all men I meet on park benches were this nice." She felt a smirk cross her lips.

Agnes quickly caught up and walked with her two new acquaintances. "I second that," Agnes said to Skye's comment. "If only everyone were this nice, let alone strange people on park benches..." she said, trying to focus on the path they were taking to the cafe; she might need to remember it later, on her own. "What do they have at this place?" It occurred to her - rather belatedly - that they'd probably have coffee, which would be a welcome boost. It'd keep her going until she could find a decent place to get some sleep, anyway.

"Well, I should check up on my son." Davin chuckled, taking his phone out of his pocket. The clock gleamed 3:15pm before he slid the lockscreen away and texted a quick message, having aquired the number from Lee's database. He was lucky to.have someone as tech-savy as her by his side. "Lee, we ought to gather and make our first strike." he mused while hitting send. "I just let Alex know that we'll be waiting for him and his minions at the apartment. First, we go for the smaller dealers. My current boss just happens to be his closest lackey. Let's take this city down." Davin laughed lowly, hailing for a cab with his free hand.

Liam threw a half shocked, half confused look Davin's way, but the man obviously missed it. Son?! Liam thought to himself, still rubbing the bridge of his nose. Have I missed something here?

Nevertheless, he got into the taxi after him, sitting awkwardly in the middle. He wasn't stupid enough to think that Davin had completely forgiven him, probably just too busy planning his citywide takedown to ask questions. For now. Liam leaned forward slightly just to avoid touching him, uncomfortable maybe, but safe. He didn't try to talk to Lee either, guessing she was feeling just as out of place as he was.

Lee nodded, having forgotten that Alex was actually taking residence at Davin's place now. She had stayed with him for quite awhile the previous night, and decided that the kid was growing on her. It would be a shame if he didn't come through- she would hate to turn him into an enemy, but it was still too early to put complete faith in him. A part of her even questioned Liam now- she never asked him much of anything, but now she didn't know what to expect from here on. Lee stared out the window, feeling rather useless until Davin started talking about the operation. "Did you ever look into that girl from the card?" she asked, referring to Marissa. "I don't know who all you want in on this, but I looked into her a bit- nothing seemed too fishy."

Alexander chuckled lightly under his breath, deciding to see past the fact that they had both called him ‘strange’. He put his hands in the pockets. “No worries, it’s just one meal,” he said. Then lifted a finger. “besides, it’s not entirely free, I demand to be kept entertained for the duration of the meal,” he informed, making it sound very business-like. Then he stepped inside the café and went over to the counter.

“I would like three coffee’s and three times Mac’N’Cheese!” he told the waitress, then he looked back at the girls and with a grin. “Okay, it might sound strange, but the Mac’N’Cheese at this place is just delicious,” he informed them, but before he handed the woman the money he double checked. “How do you like your coffee… or no coffee?” He was heavy coffee addict himself, and bought it whenever he had money enough.

He looked down at his pocket when he heard his phone go off, and grabbed it with his free hand, looking at the display. Davin had his number? Probably through Lee. He hurried to send back a message with one hand that he would be right there, he was just getting breakfast with two girls from a park bench first, and he couldn’t help but smirk as he pressed the buttons. Then he looked back up to see what the girls had decided with the coffee.

Skye smiled, was this boy insane? It was funny though, she couldn't help but take a liking to him. At least he was different, and as far as she could tell, he was decent.

Mac and cheese, this reminded her of her dad. His mac and cheese was to die for, and this made her smile sadly. Also, plain coffee was one thing Skye hadn't had in a long time, usually there was a shot of whiskey or two in there. Deciding to mix things up a bit, she shrugged, "Surprise me!"

Jumping slightly at the alert of his phone, she glanced at it. Surprise surprise, she had forgotten hers again.

Alexander nodded to confirm it. He really hoped that Skye didn’t mind sweet things, because he was a great lover of that himself. So if he was asked to pick for her, it would probably end up being quite the sugary stuff. “Alright… two of the coffee's with three sugars, milk and honey…and-” he said, and then looked over at Agnes to see if she was up for the order or not that eager as him to spend the duration of the day on a sugar-high.

Meanwhile the waitress had gotten their Mac and Cheese for them, and it was still hot. Fastfood would never be as good as homemade stuff, but Alexander was pretty sure that this place’s macaroni and cheese was the nearest thing you got to good junk food.

As the ride went on, Davin noticed how stiff Will was. It comcerned him--the man usually had something to say about everything. Now he had nothing to say at all, and Dav really wondered how badly he was taking everything.

He didn't want Will to run again. So he did what he could...he touched him. Holding a smaller, softer hand, Davin tried to convey the fact that he still wanted Will--killer or not. But...in the back of his mind he was skepticql on whether or not the young socialite would stay.

As they turned onto his street, Davin decided he couldn't expose his heart all the way. Not again. He'd have to earn it this time--and the best way to start would be killing Dav's boss.

As Liam felt Davin's hand cover his, he relaxed a bit more - but only a bit. The guilt was still weighing him down, and he knew he owed the man a true explanation, but he just couldn't figure out how to explain it. Hell, he didn't even know why the man wanted him there. He couldn't help thinking that it was a heat of the moment thing, that Dav had only accepted him back because they had been away from each other for so long. Besides, once he told the whole truth, he doubted Dav would even want to be around him any more, and his aching face only amplified his doubts.

Agnes rubbed her eyes and shook her head, struggling to remain cognizant and coherent. "Uh, sorry," she said. "Any coffee at this point is welcome. And Mac and cheese is just fine by me. I take what I can get." Using a fork, Agnes poked at the hot Mac and cheese. She hadn't had this stuff in a long time. It was classic comfort food, or at least it had been since she'd moved to America. The thought reminded her to maintain her fake American accent, no matter how tired she was. She really ought to be more focused than this. So far though, there hadn't been any comments on an accent, so she figured she was in the clear for now. "Thanks again for this," she said to Alexander. Agnes ignored the alert from his phone; instead, she blew on a forkful of Mac and cheese and ate it happily. "Mm, good choice."

"Yeah, it does really mean a lot." Skye smiled at him and happily ate the mac and cheese. It was good, and it was hot, it was food. She knew she'd regret it when she was busy spewing it up later after a hard drink, but for now, it sat peacefully in her stomach, unaware. "I owe you one." Again, she missed her flask. It was always in the back of her mind, she tried to push it away, she didn't see it as a problem. It was a comfort. Trying to forget about it, she quickly forked down the food.

Ares had been walking around the streets, after his fall on the sidewalk. He looked around, watching the car lights zoom by, and the honking horns everywhere as he has seen before. He spots a doughnut shop across the street. He looks around to make sure no one is watching, then he zooms off the street, his hair flapping the wind. Ares ran into the parking lot, standing in front of the cheesy looking shop. Piece of cake, he thought to himself, thinking about the good tasting doughnuts in the store. It might be strange to not want money, but he was starving, he have not ate all day. He walked into the store, his hands in the front pockets of the sweatshirt he had on.

As soon as Ares walked in, he could tell there was no AC in the shop. The door made a bell ding as he opened it. He scanned the room, to see if anyone was watching him like a hawk. He focused in the back of the store, were the worker on the front counter could not see. He strolled normally to the back of the store, his heels treading on the black carpet. In the back were was a showcase of pastry: doughnuts, bagels, muffins, cakes. He licked his lips, hoping to get some. His lips were now no longer dry as they were before, before he saw the food before him.

He took a step towards the glass box with doors. Another step, then another, and another. He found his way to the doors. He slowly placed a hand on the handle and pulled on the door, slowly, looking at the good desserts. He reached for a blueberry muffin, a chocolate doughnut, and an apple small pie. He grabbed one of the plastic bags and put the items in the bag, and slipped into his pocket. The cheesy icon of the store, slightly sticking out of his pocket. Ares walked out of the door, but the dude at the counter must have saw the bag.

"Those damn thieves!" the guy at the counter screamed at Ares, as she burst out the door, running. He has always ran all his life, escaping from angry thief victims. He ran across the busy road, flipping over a taxi, beeping his horn. He made it to the other side of the road, away from the screaming and cussing counter clerk.

Alexander smiled calmly and paid for the things before grabbing his coffee and food. “Don’t worry about it, really,” he said again, chuckling a little over the two girls showering gratitude… he was certain that Mac’n’cheese wasn’t that good. He took a seat by one of the tables and started eating as well. Okay, maybe it was. He lingered the fork in his mouth. The only thing that would have made this better was if he had gotten a smoke of weed before eating, then it would have been perfect.

He looked between Agnes and Skye. “Then what’s your stories?” he asked curiously. Then shrugged. “Not to pry, I am just curious,” he added, and put another spoonful of cheesy pasta in his mouth.

Agnes noted that Skye looked about as grateful for the food as she was, which for whatever silly reason, made her feel a little better about being where she was doing what she was. That is to say, she wasn't the only one in her situation. As for Alexander... he looked a little better off. Agnes wondered at his intentions, helping the two of them. Perhaps he needed a favor or something? She resolved to ponder about it later; she wasn't complaining. Agnes swallowed the food in her mouth, took a long sip of her coffee, and answered, briefly, "I just got here last night. Not much of a story." She was somewhat curious about what Skye would have to say, though.

Skye had been in her little own world when Alexanders question made her come back to life. Her eyes darted up to him, "Hm? My story?" Being a little hesitant to answer, she pondered on whether or not to tell them. Not like it was anything special, just a little depressing and indeed, pathetic.

"When I left home.. I stayed with my friend Henry, when I studied archaeology and he..well, he was interested in artifacts. He collected them." She nodded, continuing, "I was so interested.. He was visiting all these crazy places, countries I could never dream of going to...so...well.. I joined him..until I became a horrible person and we decided to split ways." Sighing slightly, "Now I just take whatever jobs I can get from my employer. I'm bait, you know, the 'pretty girl' they send in." Skye cringed and suddenly felt angry, and pathetic. "Heh, look at me, telling my life story to people I barely know.." Smiling, "And you, Alexander?"

Alexander spun his spoon around his sugary coffee and leaned his head on the fist, smiling patiently toward Agnes. “No, your real story. Like, how did you end up here?” he clarified.

Then his gaze shifted to Skye and he lifted his coffee up and sipped it while he listened. His eyes were always on the people he spoke to or who spoke to him, he was just naturally curious. He chuckled by her statement. “Well, I like listening, I wouldn’t have bought you dinner and asked you if I didn’t want to hear,” he reasoned and set his cup back down.

He tilted his hat up a bit. “My story… my story..” he seemed to ponder for a moment, then a smile spread on his lips. “I ran away from home when I was 7 and joined a wandering circus actually. For months I was the one who cleaned out after the elephants, but then I started doing acrobatics, and they let me join the show, best time of my life, I swear...” he spread out his hands to emphasize. “I fell in love with one of the other acrobats, but he was unfortunately a dude, so they kicked me out of the circus for being gay, sucks huh? But now I train parrots in my apartment. One of them can hold a full-length conversation. It’s not that profitable, but it’s fun, who doesn’t like talking birds?”

Agnes listened to both of them with interest. Neither seemed the particularly violent type, assuming their stories were true, which set her mind a little more at ease. As for her own story, though...nobody knew that. And she'd rather keep it that way. She wanted to get over it and move on, and dwelling on it didn't help. Not to mention she was still in danger, but she didn't believe that as much anymore. Her mother insisted they were, but there had been no sign of any danger since they moved to America, so Agnes, while still careful as ever, paid the thought less attention. If she was honest, though, a good part of her was still afraid. That was the part she tried to suppress and wish away. "Sometimes strangers are the best people to tell," she told Skye. Perhaps a little hypocritical, but she reasoned that her case was different. As for how she got there, she was tempted to say "by bus", but she realized that it wouldn't satisfy the question. "I got here because I had to," she said. She wasn't lying. "That's all." And for a brief moment, listening to Alexander's story, she related to him greatly. Though it had never been an issue, if she'd realized her attraction to girls before moving to America, her life would've been...well, even worse. "If they kicked you out for something like that, then you are better off not being there," Agnes said firmly.
