One year later. After the events of GTA: San Andreas, the state of San Andreas have changed drastically. The most powerful drug syndicates in San Andreas, the Loco Syndicate and Big Smoke's crack empire have collapsed after the Los Santos Riots, one of the deadliest riots in the State of San Andreas. New factions have risen while old factions have faced their demise or their organization are still intact.
In Los Santos, the most powerful African-American gang, the Ballas are no more united but composed of weak sets although they can no longer stand on its own, the only known Ballas set that survived the Los Santos riots are the Kilo Tray Ballas who would later renamed themselves as the Glen Park Ballas. The gang are very weak although they are trying to rebuilt itself to restore their former glory.
And here is the Los Santos Vagos, the most powerful Mexican gang in Los Santos, the Los Santos riots almost destroyed them although they completely got back on the map by taking the heartland of Rollin Heightz Ballas turf located in Jefferson which it became their western-most territory but most of them lost their hombres from the riot. They destroyed the Varrios Los Aztecas, their arch-enemies situated in El Corona during the riots and most of their members are either dead or in hiding, they would claim El Corona as their territory. Soon, the Los Santos Vagos would later renamed themselves as the Vagos Cartel. For the first time, the cartel would be both weapons' and a drug syndicate. Two in one.
And then here's the Grove Street Families with the help of the Seville Boulevard Families, during the riots, they declared war against the United Ballas and Big Smoke's crack empire which it collapsed after the riots. The Grove Street Families would become the most powerful African-American gang in Los Santos, due to the fact that the Grove kingpin, Sean "Sweet" Johnson, the brother of Carl Johnson are rich because of his brother Carl and his sister Kendl. The kingpin decide to level up the gang. Sean would met with the Seville kingpin Jackal to unite their two gang into a single organized crime family. They would be renamed as the Johnson Crime Family. The crime family currently controls the Los Santos underground and they would have expanded their territories and networks across San Andreas since the Caporegime of the Johnson Crime Family, Carl Johnson, have many connections across San Andreas.
The only Families set left is the Temple Drive Families who were untouched during the Los Santos riots, the Temple kingpin MK didn't help the Grove Street into their war against the United Ballas since they considered themselves EBK or Everybody Killa'. After the Los Santos riots, the Temple Drive Families went to Market to destroy the Temple Drive Ballas which was a success. The TDF would expand across West Los Santos and would become one of the deadliest African-American gangs. The Temple kingpin MK have a vision that he will be the one who'll unite the Los Santos gang under the TDF banner.
The Russians have also set its presence in Los Santos even before the Los Santos riots, the Selskaya Bratva led by Anton Krezlov but the Bratva was weakened after the riots since most of their men helped Big Smoke's crack empire to defend against the aggressive Grove Street and Seville gangs although they are rebuilding, they are seeking to overthrow the newly-formed Johnson Crime Family in Los Santos and to regain their control of the Los Santos underground.
