Lets see. Aredin definitely would have heard of this fellow thanks to his former position in the Guild.

Everyone else can give me a roll using Int + Lore to check to see if you have any knowledge of this fellow.

EDIT: Forgot to specify that Fat Cat has heard of this guy thanks to his wide-ranging travels in the south.

Well, the odds of Amara knowing of this Filial Wisdom are slim, but I'll give it a try.

Zero successes. :(

Amara has not had the opportunity to have heard that name before due to her background as a slave gladiator. It never came up before.

But Amara *has* heard about the former slaves out of Rifts Atlantis, y'know that trio of Star Elf Knight, Atlantean Cyber-Knight, and Altaran Ninja Undead Hunter, right? Sure she has!

Oops. Wait. Wrong game! Heh heh! 8D *wink*

Psychie Psychie Do I know anything specific about him? Great feats I've heard of that could be used to butter him up? Sensitive points that could be used to pressure? Any known weaknesses?

Times like these, I just love playing O Mighty Fat Cat! His voice just jumps up at me from time to time - like now! =)

I forgot to answer this before: you don't know enough about the Solar to be able to play on his weak or strong points.

Never said I did, Princess GM. =)

Neither me nor O Mighty Fat Cat know anything besides this dude's name. We are just speaking from the heart here, putting ourselves in his apparent position, trying to avoid bloodshed the way Da Chonk has since the day I started playing him - no more, no less, lady. =)

EDIT: I think I'm asking the wrong question - what does the above mean? Have I broken some rule somewhere?

Forgive yet another newbie question here - is Exalted the kind of game where PCs aren't allowed to say things like this without some prior understanding? I don't even know if this guy is a Solar or a Lunar - he's just some hulking dude who can lift a Daiklave as if it weighed as much as a candy cane. Plus, he thinks he owns the place. If he does, then maybe he really cares about these grounds. Well, so does Fat Cat. After all, isn't a high-powered Lunar buried here? Mor'du? That kind of makes this place holy to Fat Cat and he'd rather not see it... bloodied.

Seriously, is there some rule about this in Exalted? If I'm messing something up here, I'll delete my post in favor of the fun of the game. I'm confused because I thought folks liked my last post and now I'm under the impression I've messed up somewhere?

I think we can safely say that this guy is a Solar. It was said that he is displaying the same kind of Anima glow that Amara has, and she is a Dawn Caste Solar. That, along with his wearing and carrying the orichalcum armor and sword, it is a pretty solid statement to say he's at least an Exalt of some kind, and very likely that he's a Dawn Caste just like Amara.

And I see no problem with your post - Psychie's just answering our question about whether we know any more.

(Exalted does have "fact introducing" mechanics - in fact, I have a charm or two about it - but that's not what I was trying here)

Purr Purr Let me reassure you that there is no problem with your post. It was asked of me earlier if you guys knew any details about this fellow and I hadn't responded until my last post. Didn't want to leave it unanswered. Everything is good on my end, so don't worry.

Thank you for clearing this up, friends! I'm in the middle of one of my 3-day ADHD migraine stages where things that normally make sense sometimes don't. Heck, I'm feeling off and confused this very moment. But I've got you guys to spell it out for me, so hooray! =)

Aredin was ready to throw the gauntlet at this backwater pretender that deigned to threaten his circle and friends when the Fat Cat spoke. A far more measured reaction than the merchant prince himself was willing to give. Still, this man needed to be humbled and pay the price for his folly. He nodded to Da Chonk then returned his gaze to Filial Wisdom, undeterred. "Prove your wisdom, and I will forgive the threat to my circle. Otherwise, you and I will move from words to swords." The Eclipse replied with deadly promise. "You speak to those who command wealth, mysteries, and power, not some tourist mortal whelps. If you can't think of a reasonable price to demand for our passing then that is your problem."
I think someone asked if this Filial Wisdom guy might have 2 or 3 Essence? If that is true, he might be able to take us on his own?

Well, if anyone would be aware of this, it is probably Aredin played by our Rykon and man! Aredin is just not having this guy's attitude! Ha ha! While I hope this plays out peacefully and we somehow get through the gate and to Mor'du's tomb without wrecking this place, if this Solar doesn't give us any option, well, even if I wind up having to roll up a new character should this one get killed, at least we're doing things our own way! This is fun RP! Go Aredin! =)

Regardless of what his Essence is, or could be, if he faces us as one Exalt against 6 he will be at a significant disadvantage.

It's not unthinkable that he'd play nice, but highly unlikely if he's going to open the discussion with, "Persuade me as to why I should let you live."

I for one, won't feel the least bit guilty for the consequences of his choices. Nor should anyone else in the circle. Let's see if he salvages the intro or doubles down.

Eonivar Eonivar Nice find! How cool! I hope it's as good as a read as it seems to be. I remember a bit about the Scarlet Empress's departure in the Exalted books but her return? Yeah, first I've seen of it too.

Which Edition is this written for?

Yeah. From the looks of things, dude is trying to back us into a corner. If this goes down, O Mighty Fat Cat is going all out. Damned if any of us are going to be dinner for cannibals. This guy's mouth might be writing checks his body can't cash.

It does not explicitly say what edition it is for but there are references to second edition books found within. So Second Edition but I think it could be adapted to any edition. (Although I thin you would need stats for Infernals for sure) It was published in 2010.

That book details how the Empress has been corrupted by the Ebon Dragon, one of the demon lords in Malfias, and is working to free her new husband from his imprisonment in hell. She does some very nasty things on his behalf, including wiping out nearly all the Sidereal Exalted in one fell swoop.
