Kay let Elliott have his moment with his sister. It wasn't her place to join in, but she didn't exactly fully ignore them either. She was aware of the convey turning from English to Attili. Their bickering was just typical sibling behaviour in Kay's mind, as her and Sam we're exactly the same. She was pretty sure most siblings were come to think of it. With her back to Chas, she was oblivious to his raised eyebrows at her little action toward John. She actually forgot if Chas even knew about them or not, as John did seem to have the habit of telling people when she was asleep.

Like with Elliott, she had no idea just how much was told by John to Chas. She didn't mind how much he told his friend and adoptive son deep down. She just didn't want to spend her entire life pretending there was nothing between them and they didn't care for each other. It would come out soon enough anyway, when their other bombshell secret got announced. She also wasnt sure just how much Chas had read in that damn book. Despite all of her emotions towards John, she knew when the time came to it, she'd be professional and not let her love for John get in the way of what had to be done. But for now, she was enjoying the relaxing moment of the amazing view with him and everyone else.

The siblings eventually stopped bickering, having run out of insults. They could have continued, but the next level of insults risked opening some old wounds, and neither was willing to go there just yet. John, Jay and Chas watched them with amused expressions and varying levels of understanding as to what the two were saying. "If we didn't know they were related, it would be damn obvious now" "Looks like Ell wasn't exaggerating when he said Cal could match him in most things, and was a in general a sound person."

"She's solid all right, not everybody would take the risks she is. I don't even want to know what the consequences are if she gets found out. He's lucky to have a sibling like that"
Jay's words contained a double meaning. She was thinking of her own brother at that moment in time, one hand running over the strap of the guitar case. "We'd basically be screwed if it wasn't for her and the team she seems to have" "Yeah, that place ain't easy to get into, it may have looked like we just waltzed in unnoticed, but there was far more security there than met the eye. That prison is one hell of a tough nut to crack."

"Do you think it is impossible to enter?"
John asked, knowing that this was her area of expertise "Speaking as somebody who's broken in and out of various government facilities, it's not impossible, no place is impossible to enter. But you'd need a whole team to get in and out, and even then you'd, want at least two people on the inside. So Cal's got my backing when it comes to getting him out."

Kay chuckled at the conversation starter Chas created from behind them. She had to be the only one out all of them that wouldn't understand anything that was said between the siblings. She listened to the entire conversation going on, yet again finding that there wasn't much she could contribute to it whatsoever. So, she did what she did best.. observed.

What Jay said about being lucky to have a sibling like Cal didn't go unnoticed. She could only imagine how it must make her feel or think when it came to her dear departed brother. It certainly made her think of Sam whilst they were bickering, which is partly the reason she had been so quiet got so long. She listened to Jay's information about breaking in and out of facilities that were tightly closed up to the outside, and she trusted her judgement completely. Jay had never let them down on her large scale of knowledge, so there was no need to think any different now.

"So that's Cal and it seems we got Cliff on our side too... So our odds of getting him out are growing" she eventually spoke up.

"Indeed they are" John was sounding hesitantly positive about the whole thing. Internally he was fucking delighted, but he had seen so many plans go wrong that he wasn't willing to hedge his bets just yet. "Add to that the minimum of three other people she was using to help get Elliott out, I'd say she has a team of some sort working on this" "I bet she does, but if we do end up needing more people, I can just call in my old gang and get them to help. Most of them owe me one or two or six."

It wasn't a surprise to anybody that Jay had been in some kind of gang, she'd borderline implied it at times. And what they knew of her past only confirmed this. But like John, she wasn't putting everything on the one outcome. "In other words to be hopelessly optimistic, we got this, but to be a realist, we got a chance, which is more than we had this morning." "In other words, what Kay said." "Basically, yeah"

Kay could hear the positivity in John, even if it was hesitantly being shown, and she was glad he was showing signs of positivity at all, especially after their last few chats. She actually turned to face Chas and Jay a bit, but was still linked arms with John, when they added to the conversation a bit more. She felt it was less rude to be able to see the people they were talking with. Hearing all their additions, definitely just echoed her own thoughts that she said, which made her smile in a proud manner to herself.

She nodded proudly more when Chas summarised the whole thing up by saying 'what Kay said'. It actually made her feel like they respected what she was saying properly. "Exactly. More of a chance now is better than no chance at all" she replied, feeling like her whole earlier talk with John about hoping was finally staying on her side and not letting her down. She had hope and she clung onto it tightly, and was stubborn enough to not give up easily either. Like she had previously said, all she's had these last few years is hope for things to get better, she wasn't going to give up on hope just yet.

Cal and Elliott finished their bickering, Cal summing it up with "we have a hell of a lot to catch up on, you still fuck around in other people's heads?" "That's not what it is, and you full well know it, but yes I still do." "Good, it'll make life so much easier, to continue the long rambling story of what exactly you missed." Cal had been telling Elliott her life story, and he had been telling his, but it was disorganised as they had to keep an eye and ear out when in the prison cell.

Hearing this, Jay knew this was her chance to interrupt and do what she had been procrastinating. "Well when you two are finished, put me down on the list next. There is quite a lot you missed and you kind of need to know" She had been tempted to say "we need to talk" but that had an altogether different vibe to it. And she wasn't going to shock him too much beforehand. Hells knew he was going to get enough of it when she explained the whole Rinaa drama. John put himself down next, as it seemed that literally the entirety of their gang wanted to talk with Elliott privately. "After you two talk" He gestured at Jay and Elliott in particular "then put me down on the list."

Kay noticed the two siblings had stopped bickering and mentioned about having a lot of catching up to do. She glanced at Jay as she told Elliott in a round about way the two of them seriously needed to talk in private. She knew that would be one shocking conversation for Elliott and wondered how he'd take the news about Rinaa. Then came John stating he wanted to be next and she had a feeling what it was he'd want to talk to Elliott about, though she wasn't entirely sure.

She didn't think there's anything she needed a private chat with Elliott about, unless John brought up their daughter and then she'd have to no doubt get pulled into that private chat. Buy she wasnt going to insert herself on their private chat straight away. It wouldn't be right and the last thing she wanted was to be dubbed that 'clingy girlfriend' and nothing else. She knew when to step back and she found that an important trait to have.

Chas didn't feel the need for a private conversation, there wasn't much to say apart from "I learned to fly a spaceship and it turns out I'm pretty good at it" but he'd already covered that earlier. Cal looked towards the sky line, gauging when exactly it would be turning to night. There was still a few hours to go, the sun still blazing high in the sky. To those from Earth it seemed to be travelling backwards, but to Cal it would be Earth's sun that was moving backwards across the sky. And judging by the clouds, it was going to be spectacular.

"Don't worry, I haven't forgot about you" Elliott smirked. "So does anyone actually want to plan, or would it just better to throw yourselves at my couch, food and weapons, and leave all thinking until tomorrow?" Cal asked, knowing which one she would prefer. It hadn't been said, but she just assumed they'd be bunking at hers for the next few days.

The skyline was truly incredible to Kay, and something she'd never get tired of looking at. It was like it was begging her to paint it if she had her supplies but she didn't. She noticed how it looked like it was going backwards but everything was so different here, she just accepted it for what it was. She smirked at Elliott's reply to both Jay and John then she turned to Cal who spoke up. She had a point, they did need to plan, but the idea of relaxing and eating wasn't such a bad idea and thought either.

"Dunno about this lot, but as much as we should plan, a few more hours of relaxing a bit wouldn't do us harm." She spoke up first, within this moments, she had let John's arm go and was now in her usual stance of hands in jacket pockets. She also knew of she didn't climb off this roof, she'd be up here all the time. There was always something calming to her about relaxing on the roof. Hell, it's why she chose most times to read on John's roof. She could let the world drift by without a care in the world.

"Food sounds like a good idea" Elliott declared, not having eaten since breakfast. "And I am not going to make any sensible decision after three days of space flight. So throwing myself at a couch sounds appealing." John added. "Not like you make a sensible decision anyway" Chas and Elliott smirked simultaneously. John flipped them both of.

Cal looked relieved, "good, cos I really don't feel like doing any planning. So make yourselves at home, chuck shoes on the TV, run up the walls, pass out drunk in the bathtub, eat the entire contents of the freezer, do whatever it is you normally do. I really couldn't care what you do, as long as the apartment and weapons stay in one piece." "You're going to regret saying that." "Oh I know" Cal smirked, swinging down through the balcony window.

Kay chuckled at the dig towards John came from Chas and Elliott in unison. Seeing John turn to the usual middle finger as a reply didn't surprise her one bit and found them all utterly predictable in that moment. "You lot are so predictable it hurts" she commented cheekily. "Though I'm with you all... Couch sounds like heaven compared to the ship bunkers..or floors" she added, purposely adding the floor but a reference for John's benefit than anyone else's.

She let Cal speak and thought it was really nice of her to open her apartment up to them so willingly. She climbed on down and back inside, heading to the couch and instantly sitting down with a contented sigh. "Yup.. definitely better" she remarked, more to herself than to anyone in particular. She took her jacket off and laid it over the back of the couch, before sitting back into a comfortable position.

John knew exactly what she meant, and rolled his eyes as he swung down from the roof. The others followed suit. Chas took the other arm chair, while John quite literally threw himself at the couch. "Mind if I put me feet on the table?" "not in the fucking slightest, knock yourself out." That was Cal fulfilling her role as cool older sister, living up to Elliott's praise. John swung his feet up, stretching his arms behind his head.

Elliott headed for the food, pulling out a bag of frozen chips and flame grilled kebab meat. As if to test if Cal would stand up to her words, Jay took of her boots, tied them together by the laces and chucked them over the TV. Cal merely shrugged, then took up the pile of nail from the table, and began flicking through it. "Bills, bills, taxes, junk mail, furniture catalogue, more taxes...joy" she muttered sarcastically, not at impressed. "Social event invitation...blech, no fucking thanks." Elliott held up the food "Cal, you mind taking care of this for me?" Cal nodded, stepped forwards, then lit her hands on fire.

Kay felt the impact he created when he threw himself onto the couch and it was now her turn to roll her eyes at him. He really had no shame whatsoever, but she wouldn't have him any other way...even if things like that did make her internally groan. Kay, unlike John, didn't put her feet up on the table at all and sat with a slight slouch instead. Feet firmly on the floor.
She really could understand why Elliott praised Cal so much, and found it hard to talk about her sometimes out of missing her. She definitely could understand why they were so close, as they were alot alike. Especially as she let Jay put her boots over the TV and didn't react to it at all. She was pretty certain only her and Chas had any kind of guest manners out of the lot of them.

She was aware of Elliott going on food duty, something she was used to him doing back on earth. She just relaxed instead of saying much. There wasn't exactly anything to say in the moment anyway. Though relaxing in this couch did make her miss home just that bit more. She didn't think she'd ever get those feelings of homesickness again, since she left Seattle to study back in the UK.

Some people may have considered it an abuse of power to use pyrokenisis to cook food, but Cal more of saw it as, "I have this ability, I might as well use it and save on the electricity bill." So she simply used her pyrokenisis to first defrost, then cook Elliott's chosen meal. It didn't take long for the smell of cooking to waft out of the bag. Cal extinguished her hands, picked up the bills, grabbed the laptop, pulled up a random chair and logged in. "nobody minds if I pay these bills?" She asked, even though it was pretty damn clear she was going to do it anyway. "rather you than me" Chas replied, knowing full well John never bothered with bills. He'd cut a deal with the landlord. Well, he'd cut up the landlord who happened to be a demon. But that was another story.

Elliott sat on the arm of the couch, one leg tucked under, the other dangling off the side, and started eating. Jay meanwhile had taken out the blade repair kit she kept on her, pulled up another chair, and started treating her blades. They were crusted in blood from the bounty hunter encounter and she hadn't had a chance to properly clean it off since then.

If Kay had seen Cal use her abilities to do what she did, she would not have blamed her. She had never thought of doing it herself but she did think it was a fair enough thing to do. She could indeed smell what Elliott was eating but let him get on with it. "Your place, do what you want" Kay also added after Chas replied to Cal's question about paying her bills. Kay certainly wouldn't let guests stop her from doing anything important if she had her own place.

Having Elliott sit on the arm of the couch in the manner he did, reminded her of when herself, John and Elliott all watched Netflix together the night before his stupid plan of coming back here was put into motion. Despite what it lead to, she did think back on that evening fondly. She gazed across when she saw Jay tend to her blades, noticing for the first time just the state they were in. She then pulled out her necklace and decided to try and figure out the inscription that she noticed on the back last time she looked at it.

The next while passed by in a comforting silence, it had been a long time since any of them had actually sat down and did nothing of importance, just let the conversation flow from one thing to another. John didn't say anything about it, but he did take a look at the inscription on the necklace, the script ringing some faint bells in the back of his mind, but he couldn't grasp the thought. John, Chas and Elliott talked along with Kay about the mundane crap, mainly contrasting Attil to Earth. Jay stayed quiet for the most part, still feeling like an outsider to the group. The four of them were tight, even though Kay was new, she fit right in. But Jay felt more awkward around them. So she didn't say anything tending to the blades, treating them with a care and a reverence.

Cal finished paying, then threatened to dig out the childhood photos of Elliott in order to embarrass him. That resulted in a shoe being chucked at her head, which she caught in mid air, and managed to burn it slightly, before Elliott grabbed it back. "If you want to go MindWalking today, you should do it soon, you do actually have to go back to the cells tonight."

Kay was well aware that John was looking at the inscription beside her. She barely managed to make out what it actually said, until she finally figured it out and she could see John trying to work out why it rang a bell or two. She had learned what his concentration facial expression looked like, along with his other expressions that he tend to make. The inscription said 'from the flames of my past I shall arise' . She partly wanted to take it at face value and literally but nothing her mother had left her was 100% literal, so it open up some new questions.

She however, stopped handling the necklace and got involved in random chit chat with John, Chas and Elliott for a lot of the time and had noticed how Jay stayed out of the way, focusing solely on her blades. She always wondered why she did it, and hoped one day Jay would feel she could join them. When Cal threatened to dig out the baby photos of Elliott, she was totally down for seeing them but Elliott instantly put a stop to the idea with the form of shoe throwing and it made Kay laugh. Her laughter soon stopped when the conversation went more serious and back to the whole mindwalking deal.

Elliott pulled a face "do I have to?" "Yes, you really do, unless you want us to get found out before we've even got a plan together." Cal was firm on that, he may be her brother, but she damn well wasn't going to risk getting found out just yet. "Fair point, what time are your shifts tomorrow?" "I'll be smithing in the morning, I don't have guard duty til probably about two." Cal ran over the numbers in her head, trying to remember the others shifts. "I won't be able to get you out til the afternoon unless the morning shifts fall in our favour, I'll check it out"

"So it makes more sense for us not to catch up now." She nodded "I guess you have to decide who you want to have inside you first" she smirked wickedly, deliberately sexualising it. "CAL!" Elliott yelled red faced with mortification, while John, Chas and Cal split their sides laughing. The tips of Jay's ears reddened, she ducked her head, the dagger hilt suddenly seeming particularly fascinating. She now knew that her feelings for Elliott hadn't gone unnoticed by Cal.

Kay found him to be such a typical teenager when he practically whined out his 'do I have to' reply. It was such a stereotypical teenage response to being told they had to do something they didn't want to in her eyes. She admired Cal for being firm with him on the matter, buy then that brought questions of what sort of older brother he'd be to their future daughter. Would he be like Cal? Or would he be mischievous and help get her into trouble? She made herself shake those thoughts from her mind, not wanting to think too far ahead already.

When Cal deliberately sexualised her comment about his mind walking, she too laughed like the others did. She definitely liked Cal a lot, she always liked a fellow wan who wasn't afraid of showing she had a filthy mind. It was well known Kay did. She too then noticed Jay's ears go bright red at the comment and she couldn't help but smirk and laugh a bit more, but she didn't call her out on it. She was cruel but not THAT cruel. She also got a kick out of seeing Elliott being mortified for once and not him doing the mortifying.

Cal was far too pleased with herself, judging by her wide grin she was not going to let this go for quite some time, possibly not letting it go, ever. She too, like everybody else, noticed Jay's reaction to the comment, but chose not to call her out on it. This was about her mortifying her little brother (she still thought of him that way as there had been a significant height and age difference between them as kids) And her brother only. She had no plans on calling Jay out on something she hadn't acted on yet. She was still getting to know Jay after all, and wasn't going to publicly humiliate her....yet.

There was no denying that John also got a kick out of Elliott's embarrassment. "Welcome to the gang Cal" John smirked, extending a hand which she shook firmly. He made a mental note to have Cal over for some event like Christmas or Elliott's birthday after they left Attil. She would fit right in, so long as she could hold her drink and play poker. "But in all seriousness Lottie, you gotta decide.." "and you gotta refrain from making that threesome joke I know is on the tip of your tongue." Elliott cut her off before Cal could make matters worse.

Kay smiled with a chuckle when John welcomed her to the gang. She definitely fit right in with their motley crew that was for sure. She could easily see and imagine Cal joining in in the tormenting of Elliott or as the girls in the group, ganging up on all the men together. They certainly had the same kind of sense of humour. The laughter soon stopped when Cal pit the seriousness back into place of the situation, only for Elliott to call Cal out on the joke dying to escape her lips.

"You sure know how to ruin a girl's fun Ell" Kay said. "But she's right, you do need to decide and stop dilly dallying." she added. She knew how important the information Jay had for him was. Just like the stuff John no doubt wanted to tell him was considered important. But nothing could be more important than Jay's information on Rinaa.

There was going to be a lot of people ganging up on him in his future, Elliott knew that even after leaving Attil, Cal would almost certainly invite herself over for no reason other than she could. But he also knew that Cal would make it her business to make everyone in their group the butt of some joke or another (once she'd finished up on catching up on a over a decades worth of teasing her brother that was.)

"John can go first" Jay answered, at the exact time John said the opposite "Jay can go first." Jay wanted to delay the inevitable for a while longer, it wasn't a talk she was looking forwards to. Hence why she was doing it by showing Elliott her memories, so at least any weird reactions he had would go on in the privacy of his own head and not on public display. And John knew that what Jay had to say to his adoptive son was more important. That left them at a stalemate, so before any of them could try to back out, Chas proposed his solution. "Just do rock paper scissors, best of three. Problem solved"

When John and Jay both said in perfect unison how each other could go first, Kay rolled her eyes. She got why Jay would want to delay telling him, but Elliott had to know and he find out, even if John did go first. Then it would no doubt make things so much worse for her. Like John, she truly believed Jay should go first. The news in her opinion had to come from her first, not through another person, it wouldn't be fair on Elliott for a start. Then Chas spoke up with an idea which made her smirk. "I agree with Chas, decide an old fashioned way and stick to it." She added.

She could have said 'jay you gotta tell him sometime, so it's better to get it out in the open so to speak now than he finding out through someone else' but she knew that'd sign her death certificate no doubt, which is why she kept that opinion to herself. "So? Agree to decide via rock, paper, scissors Jay?" She asked one last time. There wasn't much she could say to convince Jay without it then causing concern to Elliott about Jay was keeping to herself, so she tried to remain neutral.

Jay was perfectly happy to leave the decision to a game of rock paper scissors, sure both of them would probably try and cheat or sync their way out of it. It was fair, and she had suggested that exact method a few times in order to solve similar problems "Always, so best of three goes first, or best of three doesn't go first?" She asked, leaving the knife down on the coffee table, before leaning over the back of the couch. "Best of three goes first" Chas decided, knowing they were going to get ridiculously competitive over this.

"That's fair" John agreed, turning himself to face Jay, both having their hands at the ready. "On three?" "On three." The other all leant forwards to watch. This was far more gripping than it had any right to be. The first two rounds were quick and fast. The first round went to John, the second to Jay, leaving them vying to lose the next hand.

Finally, something they agreed on Kay thought. In this moment she wondered how on earth she'd deal with a kid when these two were just as bad as kids themselves. She certainly was glad Chas was with them because she'd no doubt bang their heads together if she was alone with the two of them. Sure, it may have been over the top but she would have made a point. When Jay got up and came over to them all to solve this whole decision making, she shuffled to her side slightly so she could watch better without doing her neck in.

She watched with the others as they both acted quickly in their movements, seeing them both tie so far. Which meant it was down to the last round. She had no idea why it was so entertaining to watch such a simple kids game be played for this, but it was. She kept quiet as she watched them go for the next and final attempt, not sure if either of them wanted to win or lose at this point.
