Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

She sighed feeling glad that she wasn't imagining it being her. Her heart was racing at what felt like the speed of light. It actually made her head spin. If he saw it and knew what this was implying then it was big.

"Great...i got a book connected to me planning out my future?" She replied, not aiming it at anyone in particular. "John does this mean we were always meant to cross paths?" She asked him. If it did indeed mean that, then her being drawn to him would make sense all of a sudden. "I definitely don't wanna be here on my own when you go out. This book is freaking me out now. If I'm here then I want someone with me." She spoke. She didn't trust the book to not scare the living hell out of her again.

The very thought of being the key to all of the phoenix race scared her crapless. She didn't think anything of herself, now she's being told she's bloody important to something big?! Kay was struggling to compute this.

"For the record, I bloody hate prophecies. Always making it seem like you have no choice, when actually you do." He grumbled, more to himself than anything else. Her fear was rational, and he didn't want her left alone either, not after what happened the last time. "Don't worry, we're both going to the hosue, there is a hells of a lot of research I need to do"

He considered his answer carefully, then shrugged before answering "I don't know, if we're talking literally than maybe, but magic isn't exactly lieteral. It' more of riddles of ever increasing perplexity." He paused, and took out a cigarette, twirling it absent mindedly around his finger. "Ever heard of the synchronity wave?"

When he said he hated prophecies she could totally understand why now there was one clearly about her. Kay looked at him when he changed his mind about taking her with him to The House. "That's a change of mind, but okay." She replied and she was actually glad he changed his mind. Sure, what he said earlier about how The House could throw shit at her that wouldn't be pleasant she didn't care. She'd put up with anything at this moment in time if she got on the right path of answers.

She listened to what he had to say, and watched as he pulled out a cigarette. She swore one day she'd have the guts to flick it out of his hands or mouth. But now wasn't the time. "Heard the saying but never really understood it fully to be honest" she replied to him.

"Synchronity, in terms of magic, means that the universe is basically guiding you. If it wants you somewhere, you will end up there. If it wants you to do something, ypu end up doing it. The majority have no acess to this ability whatsoever. Sometimes people can access it temporarily. But then there are the poor buggers who are instintively connected to it."

"It lets them shape any situation to their liking, bend Fate to their will and make their own luck. It's called riding the syncronity wave, the ability is rare and totally overpowered. Resisting it makes the effects weaker, but just letting go and surfing the synchronity waves means letting it control you. It basically makes you the luckiest most manipulative bastard on the planet. This ability can stop even the first of the Fallen. It's unbelievable dangerous in the wrong hands"

"I can acess synchronity, hence why stuff just happens to me by accident"
John explained, but as usual, leaving out a crucial element.

Kay tied to understand everything he was saying, and it wasn't until he summed it up that she finally got it. The way he explained it she didn't think he left anything out. It didn't occur to her that he might left out anything crucial.

"Okay" was all she could say to reply. She didn't know what else she could possibly say in response. Though his last sentence about things happening to him by accident did intrigue her. If he wasn't the one she was destined to come into contact with then who was it? But she highly doubted it'd be anyone else. The way her soul kept making her feel the way she did toward him told her that that prophecy was about him. She couldn't put it to anything else.

"So where does this leave us?" She couldn't help but wonder out loud. Kay then looked back at John, "I guess I should get changed then" she said, her tone speaking very matter of fact.

"It leaves us needing answers. Best plan I can think of is to go to The House and research there, the libraray is much more extensive than the small collection of stuff I keep here. Plus, that's where I originally stroed the pheonix book" He gestured to the deadlocked door, which he had never opened when Kay was around.

"Also, phone Elliott, I think he knows somebody with the specific skills set to help us, and if I'm wrong, his MindWalker abilities are damn useful anyway." He paused "getting changed is a good idea. These trousers are still covered in demon's blood."

Kay looked toward where he was gesturing and she nodded. She always wondered what that door lead to and now she knew.

"Sure, I'll call him. Meet back in the hallway in say ten?" She suggested. She knew it wouldn't take her long to get changed. It would also give her time to try and get in contact with Elliott. Kay knew she could get changed and talk with Elliott on speaker all at the same time.

She grew nervous for what was coming up but she had to get answers. She walked out the kitchen and grabbed her phone off the table as she headed to her room. She pressed the speed dial to call Elliott and clicked the button to put him on speaker. She grabbed her leather stretchy leggings, her distressed vest and camo over shirt as she waited for Elliott to pick up the phone. She quickly got dressed and pulled on her Doc Martin's before sitting down and expertly applied in seconds her winged liner and red lipstick.

"Come on Ell, pick up"

"Yeah, sure." John nodded, heading towards his room, then turned back."Oh and tell him I said to bring her along too, he'll know what I mean." He changed into more of the same, shirt, tie, trousers. His trenchcoat was hanging on the hook outside.

The phone rang, but there was no answer. It seemed like Kay would be put through to voice mail, but at the last second, the phone was picked up. The voice answering wasn't Elliott's though, it was Jay's. "Hey...er...Elliott's not available right now. The idiot is zonked out cold at the moment." She didn't mean idiot as an insult, it seemed more affectionate than insult.

The moment she heard Jay's voice she was glad someone picked up. She wasn't expecting the response though. "Jay get him up. Myself and John need you both and anyone else who can help. John and I are about to The House because shit is happening around me and we need help seeking answers." She explained, Kay's voice oozed the urgency and the fear in she was feeling about everything.

She chucked her makeup in her bag like she always did everytime she got ready to go out. She then took the phone off speaker and held it to her ear. "I can explain better when you both get here. But both myself and John are concerned. I'm getting visions in my sleep again that almost made burn the apartment down. So yeah... It's urgent" she finished saying.

Jay listened, heard the urgenecy in Kay's voice and sighed. She cast an eye over at Elliott, who was asleep on an office chair beside her. He'd been like that for the past few hours. She didn't want to wake him, he needed to sleep and regain energy. But the fact that she specifically was mentioned as needed piqued her interest. She was pretty sure she knew why.

But first things first. "Toby's got exams at the moment, ditto Kane. Scott is holding down fort at the restraunt, as the twins are in Ireland, long story. Elliott's crashed out. He pushes himself far to hard sometimes." There was definitely some kind of warmth in her tone. "He needs at least an hour more sleep to get back to normal. I presume you need him for his abilities."

She sighed again "pass me on to John, I need his judgement on this."

Kay honestly felt bad that she was suggesting to wake Elliott. She was only hoping he'd get sleep earlier and now here she was coming across as an utter asshole.

She definitely heard the warmth in her voice when she spoke about him, and sensed there was definitely something there between them. She was walking out her room into the hallway where she said she'd meet John. "Passing you over now" she told Jay, as she stepped up to John and handed her phone to him. "Jay wants to talk to you. Ell is asleep" she told him.

John nodded and took the phone. "Burn out?" was his first question, no greeting, no pleasantries, just straight to the point. He listened, noddded, ran a hand through his hair and thought. "I second that." he listened again, beginning to pace back and forth as he spoke. "Okay, we can do that. What about you? What's your deal?"

This period of listening went on for a lot longer and was accompanied by various facial expressions from John. Eventually he spoke "you sure?" it wasn't exactly worrry in his tone, but it was close. "we'll be there in twenty, max." John hung up and handed Kay back the phone.

"We're heading to the base to meet Jay. Then from there we head to The House."

Kay walked to the kitchen and paced. She kept glancing at that page in the book the whole time, despite constantly mentally telling herself to stop looking. She kept glancing at John as he spoke and listened to Jay on the phone.

She took her phone back and put it in her shirt pocket as he spoke about heading to the base before to The House. Nodding she grabbed her biker jacket that was hanging on the wall next to his trenchcoat, to which she moved her phone from her shirt pocket to her jacket pocket.

"What did she say?" She asked him, it was obvious she was still quite unnerved by it all from the way she nervously linking her fingers together before pressing down on her palm with her thumb. Something she always did when she got anxious.

John grabbed his coat, swinging it around as he did so. Somehow no katter wha he did the trenchcoat looked dynamic. "Elliott's burnt out, he quite literally passed out on the desk a few hours after he arrived. But she thinks an hour and he'll be ready to go, and I agree."

He locked up, repeating the blood ritual as he did so. "She confirmed my suspicions about her abilities. And she is alien. And she tried to kill Elliott the first time she met him" The last fact was from Elliott, but whatever. "but she agreed to help us, so maybe she is not as bad as I thought." He headed down the stairs to the ground floor.

Kay nodded, she really did feel bad for initially saying she needs to wake him. Man, she felt like an utter asshole. They were both right, Elliott did need to recooperate fully.

She followed John out the apartment and down the stairs after he did the ritual to protect his home. She looked shocked at him saying about Jay trying to kill Elliott when they first met. "Well...that's something" she replied to him saying about her agreeing to help them. It took her a couple of moments to twig he said help them and not just help her. Even though it seemed that book was intent on involving John.

"He did the same apparently. I have to find out this story in full. I can only guess, but it seems that had the rest of the gang not intervened one of them might have succeeded too." He told Kay, not saying which one he believed would have won. Thinking out loud he added "thoooough that could explain why the group don't trust her as much as they do Elliott."

They reached the ground floor, Chas was going to meet them later, so John was taking the bike. It was either that or walk. He got on and gestured for her to get on behind him.

"mmhmm" was all she replied with over the Jay and Elliott situation. From what she saw at that training night, it would not surprise her if it was Jay that would have succeeded. Not that she doubted Elliott's skills, but she had won those training fights and she was quite something to watch.

She walked over and when he gestured for her to get on the back of his bike she nodded, grabbed a helmet and got on the back wrapping her arms.tifhrly around him for safety.

John drove at his usual break neck speed, the thrill and sense of danger sending a surge of adrenaline and endorphins through him. He found himself much more relaxed and once again he fell back into the old racing position. Had Kay not been with him, he would have got out of London as fast as possible and headed to the nearest track for old times sake. John never reached competitively, he just broke into the track at night with some mates.

Unlike the last two times they had entered the base, they didn't enter through the restraunt. Instead John turned into the side alley. As promised Jay sent the signal as soon as they appeared on camera. The alley floor and part of the side wall moved upwards revealing the ramp down to the sublevel. Without hesitation John enteres, emerging beside the workshop area. He parked the bike in the empty spot beside Elliott's and dismounted.

Jay was sitting at a bank of monitors. She was dressed in a grey t-shirt, thick combat/motorcycle boots and torn jeans (it was clear they were torn for reasons of fashion). Around her waist was a red check shirt. Elliott meanwhile, was sprawled in a reclined office chair, asleep.

If Kay was anyone else she'd have been terrified of the speed John rode at but like Elliott quickly found out that first ride day, she appreciated bikes and the speed they could go at. That didn't mean she didn't hold on for dear life however.

She watched as they got let in through the side alley entrance and sublevel. When John parked up she got off taking off her helmet putting it on the back. She walked over and saw Jay at the monitors and Elliott out cold on the chair.

She stood around wondering what they could be doing here and how Jay could help them.

John walked over Elliott, Jay watching his every move like a hawk or some other kind of sharp eyed bird of prey. John examined Elliott's unconscious form. At some point since John last saw him, he had changed into a fresh t-shirt. The dark circles were gone from around his eyes, and even asleep John could tell by his posture that his son was full of energy once again. "You made the right call. I'd say he'll wake in twenty minutes or so"

The comment was clearly directed at Jay who nodded, clearly relieved. "But I had to be sure." She angled herself so she was looking at both of them. "I'm not doing anything until we get to The House." John opened his mouth to speak, but Jay seemed to know exactly what he was going to say. She held up a bundle of playing cards. They were larger than normal cards, and they were clearly hand drawn. The bundle was tied together with string and contained more than the standard 52 cards. She also gestured at a wodden box on the table "I already have the decks here, and the inks. I don't trust any you'd have The House, plus as you'd know, it is more potent that way. " the last part directed very pointedly at John.

The next remark was directed at Kay. "So what should I know before I do anything?" There was no bullshitting with Jay, she said everything straight, damn the consequences.

(last post)

Kay watched John as he checked on Elliott, and she noticed the way Jay watched John. She didn't like the way she looked at him but she kept it to herself.

She continued to look between the two of them as they spoke with each other. She wondered what the deck of cards had to do with anything. She looked at Jay fully when she turned her attention to her. Kay wondered where to start, but eventually began telling her about what she saw in her dream and how she reacted to it with the flame turning partially black.

She then told her about what they found in the book about the page appearing and showing her in a white gown surrounded in fire, with the caption under it. "I think that's it" she finished eventually.

Elliott woke up shortly after Kay finished her explanation. He looked considerably better, albeit surprised to see both John and Kay in the base. John filled him on everything that had happened, and told him the plan. "Chas'll meet us there later" were his finishing words. The only question Elliott had was "where is The House currently John?"

"Limbo, but I'll call it to Blackfields." "Then we best get moving" He cast a glance at Jay "for the sake of speed, I say we give Kay the spare bike." "A.J. fixed it up before he left, so it's in good running order." She nodded in agreement, before vaulting over into the workshop level.

The bike she emerged with was black, with no specific detailing. It was clearly a racing bike, designed for speed, but there was no doubt that it had been customised. Jay tossed the keys at Kay as John and Elliott mounted up.

Kay was glad Elliott looked much better than when she last saw him and even from earlier. She let John explain their whole situation and it never failed to make her think how insane it all was.

When Jay walked away the back with the bike she couldn't help but in awe of it. Her admiration of bikes still evident. She grabbed the keys perfectly when she was thrown to her. She walked up to the bike and mounted it whilst putting her helmet on. The others may or may not be as hot on the safety but she was. She may be able to come back from death but she still would rather not die in the first place.

Jay grabbed what was evidently her jacket from the hook on the wall. There were patches sewn on the shoulders and upper arms. Her bike was silver and dark blue, a perfect match for her hair and eyes. She didn't put on a helmey, but Elliott could tell that shen she touched her neck she was making sure that the mage armour charm necklace was still on. He made the same gesture, to be sure, to be sure.

They left the base and drove out of London, heading in a northwards direction. Just like the rest of the gang, Jay was at home on a bike. It was almost an unofficial requirement to be able to ride a bike in order to be aprt of the gang. They rode for maybe an hour or so outside of the city before John and Elliott swerved off the road, and onto a dirt track.

John and Elliott stopped in the middle of a field. There was nothing there except grass. Jay dismpunted and leant against the bike, waiting to see what would happn.

Kay kept up with them somehow as it had been so long since she rode a bike or did any kind of driving full stop. Last time she did she was still Stateside.

When they reached the field she pulled up and stopped, taking off her helmet and putting it on the seat as she climbed off. Seeing it an empty area she was curious as to how The House could be there but then she remembered what John and Chas had previously told her about the place. It was magical, of course there's be something not considered mortal normal about it.

She waited to see what would happen as she ran her fingers through her hair before pulling out her beanie out her jacket pocket and put it on her head.
