Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

John concentrated, calling out into limbo. The House would come to him and only him. He was bound to the house and it to him. The wind picked up, blasting Jay and Elliott's hair backwards. The loose leaves and debris began to swirl around forming a sort of cyclone.

House.jpg
The House simply just appeared in the middle of the cyclone. It was four tories tall, made of old wood. The windows were dark and it gave off a sort of horror mpvie murder house vibe. Some of the windows were boarded up. A stone wall had appeared around the building, and there were gargoyles on the gateposts.

"Ladies, gentlemen and aliens. I give you my home away from home. The House of Mystery" John announced with a dramatic flourish

Kay watched with fascination as it all happened and came into view. She wiped the few strands of hair that smacked her in her face as the winds picked up.

The house definitely had a character to it Kay thought. She looked at John when he did his dramatic way of introducing the house, and couldn't help but smile at it. "It's incredible" she spoke to no one to in particular.

Jay was also impressed "it's damn cool all right. He wasn't exaggerating." she made a gesture at Elliott. John just strode up to the house, the doors opening by themselves. It was no doubt magic that made that happen. "leave the bikes anywhere on the grounds, The House'll look after them."

Jay and Elliott did just that, following John into the house. The first thing they noticed was that although the outside was big, the inside was far, far bigger. A grand staircase led to the upper floors, the atrium soaring right upwards to a rooflight. The inside was decorate in a strange mix of styles, that sonehow suited the building. The entrance floorway was a wooden islaand surrounded by glass, allowing viewing down to the libraray floor below.

Jay looked around, clearly impressed, while John smirked. He knew what effect the house had on people. Jay turned to Elliott and said something quietly that made the two of them look at John, then the interior, then John again before bursting into peals of laughter.

Kay found herself having to jog to keep up with the others before slowing back down to a walk as she walked inside. She found herself looking around pretty much everywhere amazed.

She took in the architecture all around and she didn't think it'd ever be possible but she loved it. She couldn't help but actually smile at it. The house in a weird unique way was truly beautiful to her. She snapped out of her fascination when Elliott and Jay started laughing and she glanced at them with a raised eyebrow. "Care to share with the class kids?" She said in a teasing sassy tone of voice.

She stood next to John by this point.

John just looked at the two and rolled his eyes. He had a feeling he knew what they might be laughing at given Elliott's sense of humour and their current surroundings. Plus, it was good to see Elliott happy in general, but espescially good after his depressed state the day before.

Jay answered the question. "Skinny British guy, in a long coat, with messy hair and weras converse hi-tops. Accompanied by a habit of never explaining what's going on and every situation ends up in running from danger." Elliott carried on "and a place that not only is bigger on the inside, but can also travel through space and time? What do you get?" John sighed in annoyance, knowing full well what they meant. But a glimmer in his eye said he wasn't serious.

Kay looked between John and Jay with Elliott as they decided to answer her question. She honestly wasn't expecting them to answer her sassy teasing remark but considering they were doing so, she entertained their response.

Chuckling, she nodded "bloody hell...okay I'll give you that one" she replied. They did have a point in their comparison of John to doctor who. She then looked at John and saw that glimmer in his eye despite his annoyed sigh.

"Gotta hand it to them. Normally I'd be the first to make some kind of pop culture reference but they beat me to it." She couldn't help but say, nudging John in the arm playfully. She was completely unaware that the night before when Elliott briefly came home he had asked John what was with her and him, so these little actions just didn't seem like much to her. She didn't think how other people would perceive her actions.

Jay smiled at Kay's remark, as did Elliott. "What can I say" she shrugged "whovians are universal, somehow the show still appeals to the action aliens and" she grinned wider "actual time travellers." It was clearly visible now that there was far more to her than met the eye.

John smirked, then clicked his fingers making the dors of the house shut behind them, Elliott trying not to laugh at the reference. "c'mon, we've got work to do." He descended to the lower library level and sat down on the couch there, Elliott taking the other chair, while Jay sat cross legged on the floor. Up close the libbrary was even more impressive. There were books of all kinds and materials, even some scrolls. It did look kind of messy and unorganised, but there was a system to it somehow.

Kay smiled at Jay's reply to her. She had a fair point. She was surprised that something like doctor who would be liked by people like her but she thought it was cool they could appreciate it for entertainment.

"Right..work" she replied making her mind get back on track. They were here for serious reasons, not to make Doctor Who jokes. She followed John downstairs to the library and she suddenly felt like Belle from beauty and the Beast when Beast shows her the castle's library for the first time, and it quite possibly showed on her face.

She looked so impressed by the amount of books all around her. She felt like she could marathon several in a day and she'd still not finish the entire library. She sat on the couch next to John still taking it all in. Sure, it was messy and unorganised but Kay still couldn't not be amazed. "how many books are in here?" She asked.

He shrugged "no bloody clue, most of 'em came with the house. Hundresd of thousands minimum. I'd say if you looked hard enough you could find almost any book ever writen related to magic." "plus the more modern sci-fi, fantasy, dystopia, action section we decided to add. There's enough books to last lifetimes if you wanted too"

Jay was also impressed by the volumes. She'd heard Elliott's descriptions, but seeing it with her own eyes was something else entirely. It showed in her face as she tried to take in everything. But there was work to do. "So......who's using their abilities first, me or Elliott?"

"amazing" Kay replied with simply. She didn't think much could still amaze or surprise her since knowing John and Elliott and Chas but here she was proven wrong..oh so wrong. "Consider me impressed!" She added smiling.

Glancing at Jay she liked the idea that she wasn't the only one looking impressed by what they were surrounded by. When Jay asked who using their abilities first, she shrugged. "To be honest I'm personally not bothered who goes first" she replied, her voice now sounding serious. "Whoever wants to? Unless John has other ideas?" She added.

John shrugged, "It makes most sense for Elliott to go first." Jay nodded in agreement, she had been thinking the same thing. Her skill might freak Kay out too much, making it harder for Elliott to get into her mind. Elliott was in agreement too "that works best for me. I presume I'm taking in everybody to my mind, then transfer to Kay's?"

"You're the expert here, kiddo" John replied. Elliott stood up and positioned himself in front of Kay and John, while Jay moved to sit beside Kay. "Okay, you know the drill, don't focus on any memory you wouldn't be comfortable with all of us seeing. I'll block out what I can, but no promises."

Kay looked between all three of them as they all discussed and agreed it was best for Elliott to go first. She had to admit that eased her a little bit as she knew his ability. She'd gone through it once before with him.

Kay shuffled ever so slightly to give Jay a bit more room to sit beside her for ease of doing this, which in turn made her get closer to John. She looked at Elliott when he said what he did and she nodded. "Right..sure" she said, deciding she'd rather not have Elliott and Jay see her memories of her real father walking out on her at age 9 but knew John already heard the story. She didnt think there were many other memories she had to shut out from all three of them, apart from the usual mental break down ones with her adoptive family.

"Okay..let's do this" she said, giving Elliott the go ahead.

Elliott's eyes began to glow once again. Purple for his MindWalker ability. He started with Kay, then John and finally Jay. John and Kay would once again find themselves floating in a black void, which would remain that way until Elliott was fully inside his head.

As Elliott needed physical contact for the ability to work, he placed Kay and John's hands beisde each other and his ontop of theirs, it was eiether that, or use his foot. He took Jay's hand in his own, holding it tighter than was strictly necessary. "see you on the other side." He smiled quietly. She nodded, before slumping back on the couch like the others.

Once again the void solidfied into Elliott's version of London. And just like last time John was punked up. His hair was gelled into punk spikes, and his ears were pierced with small rings and there was a stud in his nose. His tattoos were different. Elliott's hair was a vibrant purple and his eyes were golden once again. His scar was now a decorative line of silver fused to his skin.

But it was Jay who changed the most. Her subconscious projection of herself was very different. Her hair was still blue, and the eyes still silver, but that was all that had stayed the same. She was dressed in leather and metal studded armour. It was simplistic in design, with short sleeves, but extremly tough. Her arms were covered in strange spiralled runic tatoos, and there were two blue lines running down her face. Strapped her to her back were twin swords, on her belt a whole rack of daggers and other pouches. She looked like a warrior or an assassin.

Kay trusted Elliott and his mind walking ability, only because this time she knew what to expect at the beginning. When the black void broke and they all came into Elliott's version of London, she looked at everyone, smirking to herself at John's appearance. She still found it hot.
She was surprised by Jay's look but thought it was cool. It reminded her of the heroine in the book she was reading the other night on the roof.

Her own appearance hadn't changed much but enough. She wasn't in her usual comfortable attire, instead she was in a black dress that was very short and the upper part of the dress had straps and lace that ran up to a choker style neckline. Over it was her biker jacket that was far too big on her. Her hair was the normal on re but much brighter. Heeled boots and fishnet tights finishing the look. She recognised the outfit as one of the many she wore on nights out with Sam.

Elliott and Jay regarded each other. They'd both seen this version of the other before, but they still found it unsettling. Not to mention that Elliott thought she looked damn fierce as a warrior, and was trying not to stare too much. John was doing the same, but with Kay's outfit.

This was Elliott's domain so he took charge. "Okay. I need you to think back to the memory of last nights dream and nothing else. Focus solely on that, or else we get dragged into your head and as you are the only only one of us without proper memory shielding, we could see everything. So just the dream. Okay? Tell us when you have it."

She noticed Elliott trying not to stare at Jay and she couldn't help but smile slightly and briefly. She could tell he had it bad for Jay. Yet for someone so observant, she was slightly oblivious to John staring at her. It was probably because she so used to John not looking twice at her in any way of being his lodger.

Her attention turned to Elliott when he gave her very strict instructions on what to do. This was the bit she was dreading, revisiting that dream that could have been dangerous Inthe real world. She took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay" she said to let him know that she understood what Elliott was telling her.

Her mind focused back to the dream, remembering everything she saw was easy because it shook her to her core so badly. She focused on the very beginning of it, of her race flying round the moors high above her. "Okay I have it" she told them all.

"Okay, now start slowly describe exactly what you are seeing. The more detail the better, it'll help me get a stronger fix. As soon as I'm locked on, I'll send Jay and John though. This'll feel weird, as it's the first time having this many people in your mind. Just keep focused and you'll be fine" He told her, gesturing for the other two to come forwards.

It was evident that both of them had done this before. Jay lay a hand on Elliott's right shoulder, while John took the left. Elliott put his hand on her forehead, it was warmer than usual, a side effect of his powers.

Kay nodded so he knew she understood. She watched as Jay and John stepped up ready to enter her mind. She began explaining in detail seeing phoenix flying high above some moors somewhere, sun shining, wings casting shadows on the ground in front of her. There were full families around her, laughter filled the air. She described every inch of what she saw as she turned around looking at her race thriving before the world changes to the cave scene and how her kind seem to fewer in numbers. The cave was tall and rocky, an opening high above her to show the sky.

She began feeling unnerved by it as she knew what was coming next. She had to power through though, she knew she did.

(I'll be slower responding between Wednesday - Friday as I'll be in Paris for Halloween so will only really get to reply when I'm in my hotel or by free wi-fi mostly but I'll still post when I can)

Elliott locked on quicker than he expected. Usually doing this for the first time with somebody took a while, but maybe this was because he'd hosted Kay's consciousness before so he understood it better. Either way he locked on and in one swift pull, grabbed at John and Jay pulling them straight through with him.

The three appeared in Kay's memory, they all projected the same subconscious selves as they had in Elliott's mind, a testimony to them having done it before. Elliott looked around at all the pheonixes around him, his face paler than usual. He was scurtinising them as if looking for something.

Jay and John meanwhile were walking around, seeing if a different perspective would make a difference.

(Oooh, have fun!)

Her memory of the dream kept moving forward. Kay still found some of it was fuzzy to her and she glanced between the three of them as they looked and wandered around her ancestors home. She noticed how Elliott's face was paler than normal.

As Kay glanced around she began to see when it all changed to the horror she witnessed. She saw the blurry figure of her mother walk up to her once more, Kay's eyes getting misty. She missed her so much and this was just felt like a stab in the heart to her. "Mom.." she said in a small voice. "My little FlameBird" she heard her mother say once more in that warm tone she had engrained into her brain deeply.

Then came the fire, phoenixes just turning to ash and disappearing out of view. Fire turning burning bright orange before blending with black flames.

Whatever or whoever Elliott thought he had seen clearly wasn't there. His face turned back to normal. Neither of the others commented, but they both noticed. Jay began to slowly and methodically run her hands over the walls, searching for runes or symbols of some kind. John had wandered further into the cave, the light of the pheonix's wasn't enough, so had simply materialised a flaming torch in his hand. John could manipulate the unconscious version to accessorise, but the he couldn't manipulate the dream itself.

When the final burst of flame vanished, Elliott simply paused the memory giving them more time to examine the surroundings fully. They didn't need to go through the whole thing unless completly necessary. "Anybody got anything?"

Kay was too frozen in her spot to truly walk around and spot anything different. "Kay my darling....you need to go!" Her mother said, it felt like Kay was witnessing a recording but it didn't make it hurt any less.

"Go where?" She asked, more to herself not expecting a direct answer but her mother shocked her by pointing to behind her. She looked behind her then back at her mother then behind again. Something was glimmering behind all the smoke and fire. When Elliott paused the dream and asked if anyone had anything, she spoke up.

"I think so. I think my mom is trying to guide me to somewhere". She started walking to where she was pointed to, walking right through the flames like it was just smoke and nothing more. She came to the wall with vines hanging down, they had started to burn and she reached out. Her hand went through. "I think there's something behind here!" She called out, looking behind her.

Elliott looked at where Kay was gesturing, before yelling at John "get yourself over here, I think we got a hidden room or something." That gots John's attention. "I love a good hidden room" He replied coming back and standing behind Kay. "Yeah, espescially when it is the Black Archive at ARGUS and you want to rob it blind." Elliott sniped back at John who just grinned.

Jay followed them over and stuck a hand through the vines too. "There's definitly a hidden space in here alright." Elliott gestured at Kay to go first "your memory, your secret room."

She waited for everyone to make their way over and she couldn't help but smirk slightly when Elliott and John spoke about his love for hidden rooms.

When Elliott gestured for her to go first she thought that's be the case but it didn't exactly help in squashing the nerves in her stomach. She pulled the vines back slightly and walked through. It was bloody dark. Too dark to be fact. Yet the moment she started walking further in, it was like the walls reacted to the presence of her being there. The walls began flowing lighting the way.

Kay had this feeling she had indeed been here before but it still looked completely unrecognisable at the same time. The walk seemed to go on forever it felt like to her, until she reached rocky steps that descended further down. She lead the way down and they reached an opening that went into a room with heirogliphs. Many depicted the story her mother told her of the original Phoenix. The one called simply FlameBird.

John and Elliott could only watch in wonder as the cave lit up in Kay's presence. There was no other explanation for ot, it had to be her. Both of them could tell exactly what the other was thinking- this cave had to be real, but where was it? And what would happen if they went there in real life? What would be left? What would be there to find?

All three were sure footed as they descnded downwards. They entered the hieroglyphic cave, each reacting differently. John took in the whole room, the shape of it, the architecture andything with mystic symbolism to it. Elliott focused on the art work and the style of it. Jay went straight to the symbols, and it was clear from her expression that she could read them perfectly.
