Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

The sign conversation continued on for quite a while, Jay and John quickly falling back into the rhythm of it. Cliff and Jay kept their eyes on the ships controls at the same time, making sure that the ship was staying on course. Cliff knew where they were going, and which of the glowing pinprick in the distance was the one that her home planet orbited around. Chas, Dan and Elliott formed another group, talking in Attili and swapping stories about their lives. Chas' consisted of things he and John had done, Dan's were a mix of stories about Cal and his own childhood while Elliott spoke about his time on Earth and his time on Attil. Ever since he'd seen his father Elliott had found it easier to talk about his past. He hadn't spoken about what had happened between the three of them in that room and nobody had asked. He fully intended to tell John, then later Chas and Jay, but for now he wasn't quite ready to talk about it.

Cal re-emerged into the cockpit after almost three quarters of an hour working with Rinaa. "Looks like this one has fixed our gravity problem." She gestured at Rinaa, who had propped her elbows, head and upper torso out of the floor hole. The other teenager was looking considerably more relaxed and there was a sort of happiness radiating out from her. "Excellent, so was it just a blocked pipe or was there something else?" "I thought it was just the blocked pipe, which by the way is in the most inconvenient place ever. Seriously! But I guess that's why normally you do this kind of repair on the ground so you cam open up the unit from the outside of the ship where access is much better. I wouldn't want to have to try and fix that in an emergency situation. There was also a sticky valve which had caused the problem in the first place. But that's sorted, so if you want gravity, you can have it. Though judging by everybody, I'd say that's a hard no?"

Kay just let the others do whatever they were doing, she went completely into her own world whilst the others chatted, whereas Fia went between doing her own thing and joining in on the conversation when she could that was being had between Chas, Dan and Elliott. It was only when Cal and Rinaa re-emerged from the deck below that Kay actually snapped out of her own mind. She listened to what Rinaa was explaining, thinking that the explanation made it sound a lot more simple than it probably was.

If gravity came on, Kay wouldn't complain, but if no one else wanted it then she wouldn't complain about that either. She didn't want to be spoil sport in the group, which she worried about a lot of the time if she was ever truthful, but she wouldn't ever admit it out loud. "I wouldn't say no to it, but I don't mind either way personally" Kay said in a diplomatic manner, deciding it was better than completely staying quiet. Fia nodded, "I'm cool either way too" she said joining in.

With two people declaring that they didn't mind either way Rinaa decided to speak up before everybody else followed suit and gave no conclusive answer to the question. "If all of you say you don't mind either way, I'll just turn the gravity back on. Two people, maybe three is the maximum of indecisiveness we can have in a group this big." Rinaa's friends were notoriously indecisive sometimes, so this strategy of declaring a maximum number of indecisive people forced everybody else to actually make a decision. "Fair enough, can't argue with that policy. Obviously the artificial gravity will have to be turned when we get within proper range of the planet." "True, true." "I'd say turn it on now."

"Well I've got all the zero-g photos I could possibly want, so I'll go with Cliff on that." "And I'd actually like to eat something without my stomach trying to escape out of my nose." Elliott declared. "That's not how stomachs or zero-g works, right doc?" "Very much right." Cliff nodded. "I'd say it's best to give us back gravity sooner, the first timers will take a little while to adapt back to gravity and the last thing we need is to get to your planet and have people forgetting how to balence and falling into the ocean, as hilarious as that would be." Jay would actually quite enjoy to see that happen and wasn't beyond pushing somebody into the water either. "Right then, its pretty clear where the majority is, so get back down and give a shout when it's safe to turn it on." Rinaa replied, floating descending downwards.

Kay and Fia nodded at Rinaa's comment, even though it wasn't down to indecisiveness that made Kay say what she did, which made Fia only say what she did to not make Kay feel like the odd one out. In her timeline Kay said things of a similar nature when she didn't want to come across as the party pooper mother, so she remained neutral on all her answers. Fia recognised that and just went along with it. Fia also smirked and sniggered at Elliott's remark, even if it was impossible to happen, it was still an amusing thought to her.

With the decision made that the gravity would be turned back on now, Kay let Rinaa head back down first before pushing herself off the side bar she was holding onto, and back towards her seat, where she held onto the back of it to force her body into a standing position where she hovered for a moment. Fia did a similar thing but pushed herself off the wall she was nearby, floating toward the seat she previously had, going over it and pushing herself down into the seat where she put a strap on to stop herself floating away from her seat. As she did that, Kay then got herself into her seat, buckling in a bit, just enough to stop floating back up.

The others swung themselves back down into their seats, some buckled themselves in where as others simply gripped tightly into the arm rests to prevent themselves from floating away. Cal and Jay swung effortlessly into their seats, years of practice and muscle memory meaning they didn't even have to think about what they were doing. The others lowered themselves down with more precision and care, the cockpits seats were bulky and made of metal after all. Cliff swivelled in her chair, checking that everybody was ready before yelling down "we're good to go up here!" "Gravity on in three.... two...... one..... engaged." Came the voice from below, followed by the sound of a lever being thrown and a sudden change in the ship.

There weren't sufficient words in the English language to provide a suitable explanation as to what it felt like to have gravity return. Even after a brief stint of weightless freedom, of movement nor restricted by the laws of physics that applied on Earth, gravity felt alien and grounding (in more ways than one). John felt himself being pulled down into his seat with a thud, the open harness clicking against the seat arms as it fell downwards too. Loose hair remained upwards for the longest, slowly floating downwards and John felt the need to run his hands through his hair in order to get it feeling right again. "I would say 'the Eagle has landed' but it doesn't quote seem appropriate." Rinaa called up, sticking her head through the hatch in the floor. "Cliff, what are that diagnostics saying? We good?" "We're good kiddo, the readouts are looking perfect from here. Good job."

"It was nothing really."
The teenager waved a hand dismissively, but still pleased with herself. Fixing and building things never failed to put her in a good mood. She'd return to her student digs practically glowing after a long day working in the lab or in the mechanics department at the uni. "It wasn't nothing, all those directions you had to give me in order to get it right? That's not nothing." Cal replied, stretching her arms out and rolling her shoulders.

Kay was just too lazy to use her arm strength to hold herself down, so buckling in was so much easier. As she glanced around seeing everyone going back to their seats, she got the usual red-yellow blurred hue to her vision because of her braided hair still floating outward to her left side. Fia's orange and blonde hair was also floating up still but behind her, and she was so glad she kept it ties up into the ponytail.

As Rinaa got the call to say it's good to turn it back on, both Fia and Kay waited for the inevitable pull that the gravity would no doubt have on them. When it did come back on, they did feel it and it felt incredibly weird to feel that natural pull to keep them grounded once more. Their hair floated down, Fia's to down her back and Kay's onto her left shoulder again. Both girls unbuckled, staying put in their seats, confirming they really were back to feeling gravity around them. "I seriously now need the bathroom...where is it?" Kay commented, standing up slowly, she didn't feel nauseous, but it did do a number on her bladder. The downside to being pregnant.

The others shook themselves out, mentally and physically re-adjusting to having gravity again. As it had only been a short stint in zero-g the so called 'gravity shock' wore off pretty quickly. John ran a hand through his hair, half expecting it to be filled with static charge (but it wasn't). He knew through the bond that Kay's need for the bathroom wasn't stemming from anything bad, so he didn't feel the need to push the issue. It was Rinaa who answered Kay's question about the bathroom's location. "Down on this level, near the engine room as that's the only real space to put it on a craft this small." She paused then added "needless to say they aren't the fanciest known to any civilisation, but at least they work and don't stink the place out like the stereotype caravan toilets."

Rinaa slid down the ladder to the hold level, moving out of the way in anticipation of Kay coming down it. At the front of the craft was the housing containing the gravity device. An array of tools and some grease stained bandages were neatly secured on the walls nearby. She just had to secure the housing back on and then she'd be finished with the grav device. She gestured to one of the doors, indicating to Kay which one of the two doors was the correct one. "It's the left hand one." Although the hazard symbols and the bold black writing made it pretty clear which one led to the engine room. Inside the bathroom was compact just a sink and toilet like on a plane, but with the addition of a seat belt and a wall handle in the truly unfortunate case of a gravity malfunction.

Kay looked at Rinaa when she explained where the bathroom was. She had a feeling John got the feeling through their bond that it wasn't anything bad as he didn't insist on getting up and going with her, which she was thankful for. "Don't care if they're not the best, as long as they do the job, that's all I care about" she smirked. She walked over to the ladder and when Rinaa was appropriately out of the way, she carefully walked down the ladder, slightly hopping off the last step.

She glanced around seeing where Rinaa had been working to get the gravity device working again, before looking where Rinaa was gesturing. "Thanks kiddo" she said, walking to the bathroom and stepping inside. She noted how Rinaa wasn't kidding about it not being most fanciest of bathrooms. Locking the door she sighed with relief having her moment of solitude.

Fia stood up and stretched, glad that the shock of having gravity back quickly wore off. She cracked her elbows as she did stretch, grimacing as she did so, hating when her joints clicked unintentionally. Due to being their kid, she too felt the lack of negativity or danger in Kay needing the bathroom in the bond. A bond that automatically was passed down to her when she was born.

Rinaa put back her earbuds and pressed play on the song she'd been listening too earlier before Cal came down. Her decision to listen to muisc was partially out of habit while working and partially because she had no idea how soundproof the toilet was and there were some things in life she didn't need to hear. Rinaa began to reassemble the housing, performing a final check on all pipes and valves. Even with gravity having the tools on the velcro was a great help. In the lab or mechanics work bay there was often somebody around who'd be willing to pass over a tool or part. As she worked she began to mouth along with the words to the song.

John settled more comfortably into his seat, pushing the harness buckles away from where they were digging into his shoulders. "Nobody is ever gonna believe that we did any of this y'know." Chas remarked, leaning back into the chair. "Speak for yourself, A.J's crew will totally believe anything you spout about alien civilisations, having nothing to compare it to." "Not yet anyway, Toby's definitely going to space and Kane will probabaly have a moonbase or something." "Okay, let me rephrase that, no normal person I know will believe a word of this, even with the photos, too easily faked and all that." "Though it'll be interesting for the next time you get attacked by a psychic, just push these memories to the front of your mind and see what happens." "They'll probabaly just think I have really weird dreams or some other typically mundane explanation."

Kay eventually reappeared, and saw Rinaa had her headphones in and mouthing along to the words to whatever she was listening to whilst she was working, and it made her smile. She walked down the hallway and back to the ladder, climbing back up as just at the end of the conversation the others were having about not believing any of this.

Fia was listening to the conversation and smiling, nodding and generally just being amused by it all. "So what if no one believes it, we all know it really happened, and for that we can all be smug about it" She commented with a smile. Kay came back as Fia was making her remark, and sat back down. "Still finding yourselves going to the topic of no one believing any of this I see" she smiled, wriggling in her seat to find a comfortable position.

Rinaa registered that Kay had gone past her and up to the next level, but didn't make any interactions. She contented herself with securing the housing back into place, oiling the hinges so that the next time somebody needed access they wouldn't have to fight with them like she did. Her hands were covered with oil and flakes of rust and other small debris, so she washed them off as best she could in the small bathroom. But some stains still remained, as they always did, the oil being particularly resistant to washing with just plain old soap and water. A more specialist cleaning agent could remove it better, but it would also damage the skin, so she didn't bother. Rinaa decided to stay in the cargo hold a while longer, pretnedning to re-arrange tools, but really just on autopilot, thinking about nothing in particular.

"Very true, very true kiddo. We all need something to be smuf about every now and again." Chas answered. Many of the things he'd done in his life just wouldn't be believed by other people, so he'd adapted and learned to modify the stories so that he could tell them in a way that people understood. Elliott nodded at Kay's remark as she re-emerged through the floor hatch. Though hatch wasn't the best word, it was a reasonable wise opening and a fully pregnant Kay would have easily fit through it, though climbing up the vertical ladder may not be as easy. "Of course we are, what else would we possibly be talking about?" There had beens imilar conversations to this one before, as they all tried to wrap their heads around the craziness.

Fia nodded at Chas agreeing with her. "Exactly, a little big of smugness about certain things isn't a bad thing" she continued to Chas, as Kay reappeared and Elliott acknowledged her return. The ladder was indeed proving to be the challenge for Kay when it came to this ship, so she hoped she wouldn't have to go up and down it often and only when necessary. Yet she managed as best she could, without falling off the ladder and did make it to her seat.

"Touché Ell" Kay replied with a chuckle. "And it is you lot, couldn't possibly ever imagine you'd find other things to talk about" she cheekily smirked, finally settling into a reasonably comfortable position. She lightly massaged her bump, a well rehearsed habit now, though by now it was beginning to already be a bit more than just a bump. She really did begin to think this pregnancy was going to be more like 3 months and not 6 with how much she was showing, either that or Fia was going to be a bloody big baby. Which she hoped wouldn't be the case.

"There's really only three modes of conversation in this group." Elliott smirked, leaning forwards in the chair, propping his elbows on his legs and holding up three fingers. "One, slagging somebody or some people off for something they did, be it recent or yonks ago." He bent one finger down. "Two being gobsmacked by something that just happened." Another finger was bent down. "And three talking about everything and nothing at once." He made up the third category on the spot, having only actually thought of two. Deep meaningful heart-to-heart didn't count as they were both rare and private occurrences. With his list finished he leaned back and pulled his hair out of its loose tie, shaking it back to normal.

"Thats us alright." John chuckled. "We really don't do talking about anything outside of that. There's no point in talkin' about normal stuff like sport." "Nobody supports anybody, except maybe when England are about to win the World Cup, as if that will ever happen." Chas scoffed. "Or politics, it just turns into a rant on how all of them are equally shit, followed by quoting old episodes of 'Have I Got News For You'. And things like Brexit are a no go either." "Trump's the exception, his press releases are basically just stand up comedy. Utter twat." "And everything else in the news isn't even important, just celebrities and sex scandals." "And philosophy is only discussed when drunk, makes more sense that way." "So that really doesn't leave much else to actually talk about."

Kay should have guessed that the moment she made the smart ass remark, Elliott would come back with another equally smart ass remarm whilst not making it a smart ass remark. She rolled her eyes whilst smirking, watching and listening to him, before all the others joined in, agreeing with him. "I never stated otherwise" she replied. "I've known you lot long enough to know that's how conversations go and stay, and I'm completely content with that" she added.

She knew the talks wouldn't be of anything else, and she definitely knew the heart to hearts would only ever remain in private, something she was more than okay with, as she didn't like having her own heart to heart chats with everyone in the room at once. She could only ever talk to Chas and John and that's how it would always stay. "I agree with you all on your points though. Trump is the biggest twat on the planet, makes me ashamed to be half American, and news in general is just utter bollocks" she commented.

"Good, cos we've been doing this too long to change our habits." John replied with a smirk, as Chas nodded, knowing that any attempt by anyone to make them change would only result in John becoming more stubborn and set in his ways while the rest followed suit. "I don't think anybody with a half a brain could not agree on that point. He really is an utter twat, I wonder sometimes if he actually believes the things that come out of his mouth? Or listen to what's he's saying in the first place." "I doubt it, given the amount of times he's radically changed his view or gone back on his previous statements. I'd hate to have to write his speeches, considering he definitely doesn't use them."

"Who doesn't use whose speeches?" Rinaa asked, having decided to come up to the upper level and rejoin the others. She took up her earlier position her body half in, half out of the floor hatch, elbows propped on the ground, feet firmly in place on the ladder. It was her favourite spot to be on a ship when she wasn't piloting it. "Trump. Doesn't use the speeches his speech writers make for him." Rinaa let out a groan of understanding. "He absolute bollocks-head claiming to be politician. That's all he's known for in my timeline, idiotic politics, firing people and of course twitter rants." "Beacuse twitter is clearly THE logical place to air your views with the world." Elliott added with such an eye roll that his golden irises seems to disappear completly.

Kay smirked back nodding, "as I've said before, I wouldn't have you or anyone in this group any other way. You lot are chaotic but that's what I chose for a family" she told them all. As the topic continued about Trump, she nodded at everything being mentioned. She completely agreed wholeheartedly, as like she said, he made her ashamed to be half American. She may not have been born half American, but in her eyes and legally, the moment she got adopted by Sam's family and took her to Seattle, she became an American citizen.

She looked behind her when Rinaa made herself known by appearing half out the hatch. "Somehow it doesn't surprise me he's still known in your timeline for his antics." She remarked, smirking at Elliott's little comment about his Twitter ramblings. "He's completely illiterate, it physically hurts at how bad he is comprising sentences together" she said. Fia laughed at that, as it was a way of describing things that was common for Kay in her timeline.

Rinaa snorted a little at Kay's quip, her quiet laughter lost in the sounds of the others laughing. She still managed to maintain her balence on the ladder. One foot had slipped slightly but she caught herself in time and nobody was any the wiser. "I could compose a better tweet by throwing my phone at a wall, which is a bit of a miracle considering I'm not on twitter." Elliott shook his head as the others laughed again. "I'll do you one better." He answered with a smirk, leaning forwards in his seat again. "I could compose a better tweet by throwing Cal and Cliff's kettle out the window." Cal casually flipped him off for that. (Giving the middle finger (or digit or whatever ampendage the being possesed) was a universal gesture it seemed).

"Don't you even think about it. I will get a working kettle some day and I won't let anybody besides my wife within five metres of it." Cal's threat was utterly ridiculous to an outsider, but utterly heartfelt. Cliff grinned at that, giving Cal a look filled with utter love for this woman beside her. "Literally the most romantic thing she could say." Jay commented before adding "you picked a good one. Pity about the entourage." "Are you calling my extended family an entourage?" Elliott asked in mock outrage. "I'll answer that one in two words- Hells yes." Rinaa smirked, using the plural form, just like John, Chas and Elliott did as there wasn't technically one hell.

Kay chuckled at Rinaa's little quip back after her own about painfully bad Trump was. The moment Elliott leant forward to one up Rinaa, she got curious to what he was going to say, and what he said did not disappoint. Seeing Cal flip him off with the middle finger just made it all the more funnier. If they were anyone else, Cal's threat would have made absolutely no sense what so ever, but it was just hilarious to them.

She found the love Cliff showed toward Cal utterly endearing. There was absolutely no mistaking the emotion she felt for Cal. They were so unbelievably perfect for each other, and if she was anyone else she would have been a tad jealous of them both. She smirked at Elliott's mock outrage about Jay calling them all an entourage, and she most definitely picked up on the way Rinaa worded her response. "So we've gone from famtourage back down to entourage then?" She chuckled. "it seems we've all been demoted" Fia commented.

"Yep, you have, but you'll probably be promoted back up again after the wedding when I'll technically and legally be family." Cliff answered as she brought up the holo map to check how much flight time was left. She'd flown this route many times before, but still looked at the map out of habit and tradition rather than to be sure she was on the right course. "Why only probably?" Elliott asked. He could see that Cliff was clearly a perfect match for her sister, both were equally crazy about the other. But the way she'd phrased it made it sound like she was having second thought about considering the rest of them her family. Cliff picked up on that worry and shook her head. "Not in the way you're thinking. What I mean is, getting new relatives is a two way street, you are going to be acquiring three brothers in law, a sister in law and me as part of your family."

"I don't even want to try and figure out what they are to me." John groaned after laughing at Elliott's shocked expression as Cliff's words sunk in. He hadn't thought of it like that, but it was true, Elliott was gaining four siblings in law and Cliff. "Don't bother is my advice." Rinaa answered "It's not worth the effort, just leave it at extended family and let that be." In her timeline Cliff's siblings had taken on the roles of bad influence uncles and aunts. None of them had ever met Fia, nor was there ever cause for them too. But the age gap meant that if they ever did meet her, it would be more of an uncle/aunt relationship than whatever kind of half sibling-in laws they actually were. "I'm not even going to try to figure it out and besides, that's not really important anyway."

Kay also noted on the wording choice Cliff made in response to Fia's little quip. Yet it was Elliott who spoke up about it, asking about her choice of words. Not even Kay or Fia thought a out that side of things when off married Cal. His family really was ever growing, his reaction quite priceless when it all sunk in, and John commenting about what that would make them all to him. She nodded at Rinaa's reply, pointing at her with a slight shake. "Kid has a valid point" she said. She didn't even bring up that whatever they were to John and being in laws to Elliott, would technically make her related in some way too. Her guess was Step whatever, as Elliott was in a weird way her step adopted kid.

Fia hadn't met the in laws in her timeline either, she only ever met Cal and Cliff a few times when they visited, which sometimes turned into her and Cliff having archery training. "Like cliff says...best not to think about it. We're an equally weird and awesome family, that's all that needs to be understood" Fia smirked. "I like your thinking baby girl" Kay smiled.

"I 'gree on that. It doesn't matter what this is, just that' it' is a thing and here to stay." "True, true" Rinaa nodded at Fia's words. She genuinely agreed with the other teen's words. Being in a different had helped to see this view. She was aware of how each member of her family was amazing and incredible and amazing in their own way, but the two sticking points were Kay and Fia (and sometimes John). "It is not worth the headache. I tried to figure it all out once." Her eyes flickered to grey momentarily as she said that before turning back to their regular green. "And considering most of us have spent a large part or lives trying to deny some label or another, I don't think it needs to be labelled." Rinaa ended with a shrug, daring anybody to challenge her on that statement .

Elliott didn't, he knew what his label was 'traumatised by family issues' or 'mage' which was practically an insult while on Attil. He'd grown into the second one, making it part of who he was, the first he thought he'd accepted, but being back was stirring things up. "So tell us about these siblings of yours Cliff, anything we should know or beware of?" Elliott was genuinely interested to hear what they were like, Cliff had only given small nuggets of information about them and even those had been mainly focused on her oldest and youngest brother. "Where does one start with them really?" It was a rhetorical question, which Cliff then proceeded to answer. "I suppose the oldest would be the logical place. Well the oldest is Benjamin, but literally everybody calls him Benji. Very mechanically minded and a strange mix of reckless, teaser and protective big brother. Give good advice and is not somebody you want on your bad side. Enjoys messing with new people to get a reaction."

"Next in order if age is me, the deaf, gay doctor. That's literally what I'm known as, in an affectionate way of course. After me is Charlotte, my only sister, but she goes by Charlie. She started off as a cop, but then got involved with law and courts and began studying law on the side. She's a shark, sharp minded and quite the manipulator, not one to get on the wrong side of. She can come off as abrasive sometimes, but she's chill when you get to know her. Then we have Nathaniel, second youngest, goes by Nat. He's the most introverted out of us all, great reader. But don't let appearances deceive you, he's well capable of holding his own. The youngest is Matthew, but for some reason he chooses to go by Matteo. He's the prankster, the jokester of the lot. He's also an excellent liar and possesses an amazing singing voice. And yeah... That's them all. Any questions?"

Fia was surprised that Rinaa agreed with what she said. She kept her surprise off her face though, not wanting to show Rinaa that she shocked her. She nodded at Rinaa saying it's not worth the headache and that she agreed with also. "Can agree with that" Kay replied, she really was done with labels, even if her biggest label wasn't one she could walk away from. Same for Fia, she had a few labels ranging from 'phoenix' to 'mage' to 'human' to 'hybrid', and nearly all of them at one point or another she attempted to rebel against.

Both of the girls listened to Elliott ask about Cliff's family and then continued to listen to the answer that was given to them all. Her family sounded like a group of very accomplished beings in one way or another. Rinaa liked the idea of Matteo being a prankster and instantly saw that as a challenge to see who could win out on a prank war..her or him. "Oh I'm gonna enjoy meeting your siblings" Fia smirked cheekily, which made Kay put her head in her palm. "Why do I have this sudden feeling of dread from that one reply?" Kay asked no one in particular.

Rinaa knew all Cliff's siblings and the assessment of them she gave was accurate. Cliff's parents had raised a group of highly intelligent, highly competent over-achievers. And on top of that they were all good-hearted people, with a desire to help and not let themselves be walked over at the same time. John picked up on the fact that nobody went by their birth names instead choosing some kind of shortened form. He couldn't help but wonder if one had started it and the others followed suit or if it was a case of all of them feeling more comfortable with a nickname than their birth name. Elliott was suprised at just how different the siblings were, yet how similar and how close they were. He was aware that it would be an unusual meeting, considering they would have thought him to be dead.

Cliff just knew by Fia's tone which one of her siblings in particular Fia was interested in meeting. Matteo was the closest in age, and she made a mental note to have a chat with him and to make sure he didn't try anything stupid, if it involved threats and lying, then so be it. "I think we all get that feeling, though it's worth mentioning this whole time travel paradox thing. We're gonna have so much explaining to do in the future." John sighed. "Yep, but they get over it, they don't exactly have a choice in the matter. "One thing also worth warning you about, my brothers have a habit of walking around shirtless for the sheer hell of it, so please nobody start eyeing them up. Its just weird and frankly they don't need any more encouragement."

Kay had noticed the whole name thing as well, but considering Sam never went by her full name, it didn't really stand out as anything bizarre to her, she was used to people going by different names at this stage, even before she met John and Chas. Fia was definitely thinking of Matteo in particular when it came to the descriptions of her siblings. It had felt like forever since she managed to get a decent prank war going, and technically it had been 17 years if she took into account the whole time travelling side of time.

Kay nodded in agreement at John comment, realising she said what she did out loud. "It'll be worth it in the end. And anyway, since when is there a time when we don't have to explain something?" She pointed out, remembering how when she first fell into their laps, John had explaining to do to Chas, then they both had explaining to do to Elliott. Then there was Rinaa's appearance and the explaining that needed doing with all that... There was too many examples to count. As for Cliff's comment about her brothers walking around topless, it didn't phase her. "Not gonna be an issue for me doing" she said, knowing she wouldn't be able to eye anyone else up when her heart belonged to John.

John had a feeling Cliff's remark was specifically aimed at Fia. Dan was out of the picture, Chas was married, he was taken, Elliott and Jay were.... something and Rinaa had Moya. Which left Fia as the only unattached one. He could see Cliff's point, anything going on between Fia and any of her siblings would be domed given the age gap and the time travel. "Not an issue for me, they're basically my uncles and aunt in my timeline, so it's just all kinds of wrong, even if your family was gifted with some particularly favourable genetic traits. Plus I'm taken anyway, so you don't have to worry about me." Rinaa told Cliff, swapping feet on the rung to ensure her feet didn't go dead on her. "So now you're taken, but this morning she wasn't your girlfriend. Which one is it kiddo?" Elliott teased with a smirk.

The remark drew a smile from Rinaa, an occurence that was still rare, but they were growing in frequency. Rinaa didn't actually mind being teased about Moya, she'd never had an actual father do that to her. There had been the various male adult figures, but most of them knew nothing about her private life. Leah kept her private life private, she'd never brought anybody around to meet her parents, but she had admitted to there being somebody, and then months later, having broken up with that same somebody. "She's not my girlfriend, what I mean is that I'm bringing somebody with me to this wedding and I'll really only have eyes for her." Rinaa clarified, her tone and eyes softening slightly as she thought of Moya. Getting involved with her was a bad idea, but if things went the way she expected, the other girl wouldnt even remember her as she never would have existed.
