Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

It wasn't a shock or surprise that Elliott and Chas recognised the look as well as Kay did. They did know him much longer than Kay had, so if she recognised it, then they most certainly would have. She listened to what was being said, having heard of the Legends as they got called, but only very vague things, even less than about the League, but the group name had been spoken about none the less. She didn't ever know though that John had connections to them or who any of them were. It was more of a case of hearsay than anything else.

So hearing that this chick Sara Lance was part of them, she became interested to learn about them, that interest remaining when John explained it as in depth as possible. With him saying this cockpit was almost an exact replica to the Waverider, it made sense why he was smirking so much. The last bit made her smirk this time, "that is not surprising that you get ripped in..it seems to be a pretty big pattern with you" she said. Fia knew of them a bit more than the others due to her timeline, she had spent a few nights eavesdropping on video calls between John and Sara from behind a wall. She always found Sara super cool and wished she could meet her.

The Legends were virtually unknown publically even in Rinaa's time. They never dealt with any of the big crisises publically, that was the League's job. They weren't the kind of team to warrant public attention, the whole point of their formation was to do what they did without being noticed. And when they went back in time they actually made an effort to look period appropriate. John tended to stay away from them for the same reason he stayed away from all other 'hero' groups. He did the occasionally favour, and gained immense satisfaction out of holding the fact that they owed him over their heads. "It's the story of me life with those guys." He nodded.

"So that's what they're doing with themselves these days, I did think it was strange that so many vigilantes seemed to just up and vanish, but that does make sense." Elliott followed the more publically known vigilantes in the US out of interest, keeping an ear out for whispers and rumblings in the dark alley contacts he had. "I think I know the group, pretty sure they are still knockin' around in my time, and still recruiting too if the whispers and rumours are to believed. Though I can't say for sure, given everything else that's going on." Rinaa gave a shrug as she strapped herself in. She'd never personally met any of the Legends, (or as far as she was aware she hadn't), but she followed the going son in the vigilante world very seriously, just like Elliott did.

The rest strapped themselves in, making themselves comfortable in the chairs. The seats were made of a similar memory foam substance to the seats on the shuttle, but there was less of it. The smaller craft wouldn't pull as many g's as the shuttle, but it still needed to have adequate moulding to the body of the passenger. While th ey had been talking, Cal had been on the comms, securing a launch slot. She flashed a thumbs up when they got one, Cliff signalling for everybody to sit down and belt up.

For the most part Kay always thought it was crazy ramblings on the streets when it came to the Legends. That was the one thing she learned whilst living nowhere and everywhere all at the same time. She heard both useful information and utter crap that she would file as crazy ramblings of an old drunk or high guy. The Legends were always filed in the latter....until now.

"They're around in my timeline, I can tell ya that much" Fia added after Rinaa said that she thought they were still around in her timeline. "Can't say much else for obvious reasons but I know they're still around" she continued, keeping the whole 'I've eavesdropped on your chats with Sara dad plenty of times coz I'm a nosey teenager, and wish to meet Sara because she sounds unbelievably cool and badass' but out of her reply. Like Kay, Fia then sat down in one of the chairs and buckled up whilst making themselves comfortable.

Kay noticed the difference in the chair comfort greatly, but she was still thankful for the memory foam's existence in the chair. Seeing both Cal and Cliff give them the signal they're ready to launch she nodded to signal she got it, as did Fia.

"I still say that anybody who goes around callin' themselves a legend is asking for it." John shrugged. "Says the man who calls himself a demonologist, exorcist and master of the dark arts.....now wait sorry petty dabbler of the dark arts is what you want to change it to. Hating to put on airs and graces and all that." Chas smirked, when he'd first seen John's business card he'd thought it was perfectly apt and just exuded the aura of cocky asshole. "Well said Chas, well said." Rinaa smirked at the comment, John never did change his card in her timeline, she even had one in her wallet, along with various other business cards and loyalty cards for places both on-world and off-world. She sais nothing on the subject, choosing to stay quiet and check her harness belt was secured correctly.

They stopped talking when Cal gav é the signal, settling back into their seats. Unlike with the ground launch, a space launch in micro gravity meant that very little g-force was felt. They slowly drifted away from the station, the airlock clunking as it detached and retracted back to the station. Cal was speaking rapidly over the headset as the pulled out making sure they were heading to the right corridor and wouldn't get hit by a space cruiser. Both women were confident behind the wheel (controls) of a ship. Once they'd cleared the station and were in no danger of hitting somebody, Cal and Cliff fired the engines and the ship leapt forwards, accelerating to their travel speed. Unlike on the shuttle, the acceleration pressed them only slightly back into their seat. They were travelling nowhere near as fast as the shuttle.

Once Cal indicated that it was okay to in buckle Rinaa did just that, unclipping her seat belt and floating upwards. Her eyebrows raised in surprise at the lack of gravity, but she then shrugged it off. Her left hand reached out, grabbing the top of the chair, flipping herself so she was lying horizontally. Using her arm to push off, she floated forwards, stopping behind Cliff and Cal. Rinaa moved completly effortlessly when weightless, as if it was second nature to her. "I'm guessing it was a good deal because the gravity isn't working?"

Kay couldn't actually come back with anything to counter to what John just said. She thought he had a point there, when it came to calling yourself a legend. She never understood that whole mindset, but then she never had a lifestyle to warrant even tho king anywhere along that mindset. Yet then came Chas with the perfect comeback and it reminded her of when he gave her one of John's business cards, which made her smirk. She still had that card somewhere in her bag, probably right down the bottom knowing her, not knowing that Rinaa had one as well.
Like Rinaa, Fia knew he still hadn't changed that title on them in her timeline, and she always would rip him a new one for it if the moment arised. She too smirked at the whole thing, and yet she never minded her father's hypocrisy in this sort of situation.

The sensation as they launched was nowhere near as bad as before and Fia actually enjoyed it in a strange manner. Kay was just thankful it wasn't anywhere near as strong as it didn't make baby Fia crush her insides as they went back into their seats. She was about to unbuckle herself, when she saw Rinaa float up from unbuckling and realised the gravity wasnt working. Rinaa's little comment just confirmed her suspicions. She stayed buckled up for the time being, but wriggled just enough in her harness and belts to be more comfortable. Fia couldn't resist in wanting to feel the weightlessness of floating round the ship, so she unbuckled and floated up, her dance ability proving useful in helping her balance her body to not flip around all over the place. She wasn't as perfect as Rinaa, but she was good enough, and she had to chuckle to herself. "So fricking cool" she remarked to no one in particular.

The strange thing about weightlessness was that there was absaloutly no sense of what was up or down. No matter what direction one turned up was the direction above the head. And despite how effortlessly Rinaa moved around, it wasn't that simple. Getting around by using a swimming motion didn't work, the only way to move was to push of something. And it wasn't just a person's body that floated, their organs did too and the sentaion was disconcerting. Fluids rushed to the head with no gravity to inhibit them and a strange kind of motion sickness was very common. Sinuses became blocked easily and blinking didn't clear tears from eyes. Rinaa turned to Fia. "Don't overdo it too soon, the space sickness will kick in soon enough swollen head, blocked everything and inability to taste anything." It was a genuine piece of advice.

Cliff shook her head. "In a way. Gravity isn't necessary for this craft to run and at the moment, they're in the process of overhauling the craft, this one already had a faulty gravity system so it's been switched off for safety's sake. The rest of the ship is completly sound though. Plus the tourists get to feel proper weightlessness as opposed to a few bits." "I'm not complaining, zero g is great fun, espescially when you get food involved." Jay unbuckled her straps and moved effortlessly upwards, pushing her feet off the chair. Like her daughter this was utterly effortless for her, even more so. She performed a lazy flip, catching her feet on the roof bar if the ship and hanging herself upside down.

"And Rinaa's got a point, as far as I'm aware, none of our species were deigned for a low-G environment. Space sickness is an expected side effect. Fluids going crazy and the inner ear not being able to understand and match what th eyes are showing. But I anticipated this, and brought tablets that should help." "And this is why you always travel with a doctor on board." Cal nodded at Elliott's words. "Espescially a hot one." Dan let out a sigh and gave Chas a look of see what I have to out up with? .

Fia didn't intend to be moving around a lot, she just wanted to experience it for a little bit and fully intended to stay still just above her seat, which she did. The only bit of this she was used to was not feeling the ground beneath her feet, due to her ability to fly. She grabbed the back of her seat, pushing herself down slightly and kept hold of it firmly, letting her body slightly float up and behind her into a laying on her front position. "Advice taken on board" she replied to everyone.

Kay just smirked at Dan's look toward Chas, knowing that look all too well s it was a pretty universal one. She had both given it and received that look in her years, as probably had most people. "Well..if it's all the same to everybody I'm staying right here" Kay just remarked, fully intending on not going floating around, pregnancy sickness was enough for her, and she didn't want to purposely give herself any other kind on top of it. Fia carefully moved from her seat to Kay's, as it was next to her's, and slid her arms over Kay, giving her the weirdest hug she could give, and Kay had received. "Probably for the best" she replied.

"There's nothing wrong with a shirt term stint in zero-g, a couple of hours makes no difference and has no effects on growth and development, even accelerated growth. I checked." Cliff explained, as she flipped out of her seat at the same time as Cal. They each garbbed the back of their chair and used it to push off and spin sideways to the others chair. It was impressively synchronised, but it was clear that they were showing off. "Show offs" the blacksmith tutted at the two of them, joining the increasing numbers of weightless people. He'd been in zero gravity before, but wasn't as practiced on it as Cliff or Cal who were in it for work purposes.

"Mind if I take a look at the gravity device? I might know how to fix it, or at least find out why it's not working." Rinaa asked, moving out of the way as Elliott and Chas floated upwards. Chas took a couple of minutes to figure out how moving round worked, but he was determined to figure it out without help so the others let him do just that. "Not at all, knock yourself out, but obviously don't break and give us some kind of warning if you're going to suddenly turn it on." "I know what I'm doing, don't worry, I've worked on grav devices before." Rinaa replied as she slipped down to the lower level to where the equipment was located.

John then unbuckled his harness and pushed himself upwards, he'd watched the others enough to have a decent idea of how it was done. But nothing prepared him for the sheer strangeness of it, the lack of direction and how the slightest touch against anything would send him spiralling in a different direction. "Woah, this is just like tripping high, but without the actual drugs." He declared.

Hearing Cliff say that Kay would be entirely safe in zero-g, she got surprised by it, thinking it would make some kind of side effect other than the space sickness. She watched as Cliff and Cal expertly switched seats after Cliff told her it would be okay, but she was still a little hesitant to unbuckle herself and join the others. She watched as Chas and John along with Dan finally decided to give zero-g a go, and she felt like a right scaredy cat for being the only one not really doing it. She then got an amusing thought in her head which made her smirk, "you know what you lot remind me of? That floating tube scene in Charlie and the chocolate factory. The original one that is." She told them all.

Hearing John compare it to a weird trip high from drugs, without the drugs, made her wrinkle her nose. It wasn't winning her over for joining the lot of them, and was curious if Rinaa could actually fix the gravity on the ship. "And that doesn't put me at ease at all John" she replied back. She looked down at her stomach trying to talk herself into joining everyone else, as she had never been one to be so scared of trying new things. She felt pretty pathetic actually for wussing out of it.

"Not hallucogens, other drugs, the tribal medicine ones that basically force your life force out of your body to go spirit walking or as it's more colloquially known- astral projecting. In thta form you aren't bound the laws of physics and can do things like walk through walls. This zero-g sensation reminds me of that kind of movement." John explained doing an experimental flip. "Think Steven Strange in the Doctor Strange movie and you're along the right tracks." Elliott explained, trying to reassure Kay while preventing himself from crashing into a wall. He was very out of practice and clumsy, and it showed. The last time he was in zero-g he had been a little kid. Now he was a grown adult, his body fully developed and he was having to relearn how to move around.

"That movie is actually fairly accurate on things like that, makes me think that somebody in charge there knew exactly what they were doing. But it's only a theory. The mirror dimension isn't a real, as far as I know anyway." John added. He'd been skeptical about Doctor Strange when it came out and went along with the full intention of spending the whole time bitching about it. He did bitch about certain aspects, but others were very close to being right, suspiciously so. "That astral projection thing is similar to what I can do, I push out my life force across whatever connection I have with a person. It's how the syncing works, it's a life force twinning."

Kay listened to John's explanation of what he meant and it made a lot more sense now he said it. She also looked at Elliott when he put it in the term he did, appreciating that he was trying to reassure her it was okay. She watched how clumsy Elliott was, and clearly focusing on not crashing into anything. She then listened to all the comments and opinions on the Doctor Strange film, one that took her a few watches to even like. "Have to admit, took me a few watches to even like the Doctor Strange film. Always liked the animated stuff about the character and stuff but took me a while to like the film" she replied.

She then listened to Jay say how astral projection was a bit like what she could do which she found interesting. Whilst the lot of them were talking, Fia floated round to the front of Kay, giving her a reassuring smile. "Come on mum, just join us" she said quietly to her, holding her hand. Kay sighed, and caved to the request of her kid. "Fine.." she said back, unbuckling slowly, and Fia helped, whilst keeping a hold of her hand, as she floated up and away from her seat, feeling incredibly unsteady.

Elliott nodded "its definitely one of the more out there ones. You have to watch it at least twice, once having no idea what's going on, or wondering why the backstory part and origins is dragging on fir so long and then again to actually fully understand what is going on." "They make more money that way, let's face it. It's pretty smart like that, plus the comics were already more 'out there' anyway." Jay still had her feet hooked to the ceiling of the craft, hanging perfectly vertically (or at least when she was viewed from a seated position she was perfectly vertical. There was something very strange about the position from the perspective of a sitting person. The fact that she was using air quotes while she spoke wasn't helping the matter in any way.

The first thing about weightlessness was that it was nothing like the flying that Kay and Fia knew, while flying they were aware of their limbs and the weight of their body and the pull of muscles. But in weightlessness there was no noticeable pressure on the limbs from anywhere. The others moved back and out of the way so that Kay wouldn't bang into them. The cockpit had been designed with this in mind and was spacious enough to fit in the maximum of twelve people while they were floating around and doing stupid stunts. There was also various handholds and bars. The window panels even extended up onto the ceiling so that one could float upwards and look out of them. At the moment there was very little to be seen outside, they were travelling across a region of space where there was next to nothing.

Kay nodded back, but only a little, focusing on gaining some balance, which she managed to do thanks to Fia, and with the others moving out of the way, it helped her not feel so cautious that she was going to bang into people so much. "I agree with that, it's a clever ploy to make the figures go up, and it was just a case of at the time it was an easy film to sneak into to gain some warmth and safety for a while, so I naturally ended up liking it" she agreed with both Elliott and Jay.

The weightlessness felt a little unsettling to Kay at first, she didn't like the faux sensation of not knowing which way was up or down, but eventually she got it. She found it easier to 'balance' by slightly bending one knee up ever so slightly, similar to a flying posture. The posture didn't necessarily stay as such but every now and then she went into it to remain balanced. When she spotted the bars, she went across and up, grabbibg a hold of one bar to feel just that bit more secure.

Fia didn't use a bar and instead floated around, and enjoying moving around in the 'air'. She did the odd flip as she moved, and not strictly because she wanted to each time.

John was surprisingly good at manoeuvring himself around in zero-g. It was his first time doing it, there was no doubt about that, but he juts had a natural knack for doing it and no idea where said knack came from. Elliott took a while to get it right, with some incidences where he very nearly crashed into walls, seats and Chas (who was also struggling a bit). But they figured it out and found themselves enjoying the novelty of the whole thing. Jay had tied her hair back firmly as did Cliff and Cal, knowing that that fight between their hair and zero-g wasn't one they'd be winning easily. John was enjoying himself far too much, espescially once he saw his reflection in the glass of the cockpit windows and realised just how dynamically his trenchcoat was billowing around him.

"I swear this coat was deigned for being worn while in zero-g." He smirked, after eyeing his reflection up far more times than was strictly necessary. "Considering its basically sentient, it is either having the time of its life or being in complete confusion as to what the fuck is going on. Can't say I blame it either. How long til we get there?" Elliott asked as he made his way over to hover (literally) behind Cal and Cliff. "At this speed I'd say.....a little under two hours." Cliff replied, pushing back the one loose strand a purple hair that was insisting on escaping from the ponytail. Swiping at the control pannel she brought up a holographic 'map' of their route from the station to her home planet. The dot symbolising their ship was moving at a steady speed along the predicted trajectory. They were over a quarter of the way there time having flown with zero-g as a distraction.

Kay watched John having the time of his life in zero-g and there was something strangely endearing about watching it. She just loved seeing him happy about things truth be told. She watched as Fia just enjoyed herself as well, and they really looked like a right pair to her. She rolled her eyes though at John eyeing himself up in the reflection because of the way his coat floated round him, even though it wasn't a malicious eye roll, it never was when aimed at John.

Fia being Fia, floated toward him, and ducked under the coat before wrapping it partially round her, then stared at her reflection back, floating next to him. "Ooh look at me, I'm John and idolise me'self with me billowing coat and rugged looks!" She teased, mimicking his voice. She really was such a typical teenager and moments like this really showed, as she instantly laughed after taking the piss out of her father. Kay had to chuckle at the way their kid messed around with him, getting a sense that Fia was like this a lot with him in her timeline.

John just rolled his eyes, the teenager materialising underneath him and wrapping herself in part of the coat didn't even surprise him. Maybe it was because she was his daughter or maybe it was because he was kind of asking for it. It was a good impression of his voice, not quite perfect, but to this who didn't know his voice as well, it was spot on. He was tempted to try and mimic Fia's voice, but he hadn't heard it enough to have properly picked up all the quirks and patterns, plus impersonating the voice of teenage girl required him to raise his pitch to borderline uncomfortable levels. "Damn right that's what happenin'." He went into a flip, his coat unravelling from around Fia. As he did that, he reached out a hand and ruffled Fia's hair gently.

It was shortly after that that Rinaa floated upwards into the cockpit. She had some grease and oil stains across her palms and forearms. "Cliiiiiff, d'you happen to have any bandages on you?" She asked, giving the others a brief nod of hello, before floating over to take note of the position of the ship along its course. "I thought you were having a go at the grav device, not injuring yourself?" There was no mistaking the worried edge to Cliff's voice. Rinaa shook her head with a smile. "I'm fine, don't worry Cliff. It's just there's a bloody clog in one of the fluid tubes for the actual power supply to the grav device and in order to get at it, I need to put my hand under a heating pipe and I want to bind it with something so I don't burn myself. And I can't find any thermal gloves on this ship, I've looked."

Fia just laughed at him rolling his eyes at her, a typical reaction to get. Sure, her impersonation of him wasn't perfect but that was because of her own accent. It wasn't entirely borderline blend of cockney and Scouse like John's, nor was it a perfect blend of British and American like Kay's. She had her own blend of both their accents, yet there was always this almost melodic tone to her voice. Not fully high pitched, but not particularly low either. Yet it did prove useful if she would ever have to go from British to American for any reason, as she could easily change that lilt in her tone to suit either nationality. When he flipped away and over her and ruffling her hair, she scrunched up her face in distaste. "Daaaaaad!!!" She complained, seeing strands of her hair escape her ponytail and fly away like she's touched something to give off an electric static.

Kay laughed at the two of them interacting and it was clear to her that his relationship with his daughter was going to be incredibly different to his relationship with Elliott when he brought him up. "Kids, stop tormenting each other" she fake scolded the two of them. It was then when Rinaa reappeared and asked Cliff about bandages, she had no idea what she was talking about when she gave an explanation, as it wasn't her speciality. So she didn't pay too much mind to it, and instead watched as Fia tried to tame her now wild hair thanks to John.

John smirked at Fia's reaction. He wasn't even sure why he did it, some kind of inste instinct, he didn't consciously think of doing it, it just sort of happened. And her reaction to it was just priceless. "What?" He smirked, copying Jay's earlier method and slotting his feet in the barss on the ceiling. As he put his feet he realised that with their size they must have specifically been designed to allow feet to comfortably slot into them. He could see why this position was useful, it left the hands free and with no sense of up or down, it really didn't feel that disconcerting being upside down. He didn't respond to Kay's teasing, just rolled his eyes in amusement and giving a mock salute.

Cliff listened to Rinaa's explanation and nodded, slightly annoyed that she'd assumed the worst straight off the bat. "Fair enough Rinaa and yes, I do have bandages." She replied at the same time as Cal said "I could try get at it if you want?" Rinaa considered the offer, then nodded. "Actually yeah, I'll take you up on that. You have the same slender hands I do, so you should be able to get at it." Cal looked at their hands, realising that it was correct. Her fingers were slimmer than those of Elliott. "We do actually, any idea why." "Some genetic quirk more than likely." Rinaa answered disappearing down to the lower level Cal following after her, indicating for Jay to take her place at the controls.

Fia pouted when she watched him copy Jay's position in hanging upside down with his feet in the bars. "You're such an arse!" She said to John, as Kay scolded them both for acting like kids. She couldn't even keep up the pout when John mock saluted Kay in response. "Fia don't forget you started it, so if you can't take it, don't dish it. And we all know your dad is an absolute ass" Kay turned to Fia and said with a smirk. "You're not meant take his side" Fia replied back, "I'm not taking any sides, just stating the facts as I see them" Kay said back simply. "And you're telling US not to torment each other..." Fia huffed but there was a smile on her face to show her huff wasn't out of genuine upset.

The whole banter made Kay truly feel what it was like to be a part of a family of her own. A family she created and there was nothing like it. She could get a real taste of what it was like to be a mother with a teenage kid and them to have a father who clearly would learn to care for his kid wholeheartedly. "I'm so going to have my hands full with you two. I just know it" Kay smirked, knowing for sure that she was going to have to be on her guard at all times so they don't give her too much hassle.

John once again responded with a cheeky "what?" and a raised eyebrow, followed by "I'm just using them for their intended purpose, they wouldn't be big enough for my feet if they weren't meant to be used this way." Cliff turned around to look at them all, with a slight sigh, before casting a look at Jay that said 'remind me why exactly we are deciding to get involved with this crazy family again? Are we going mad?' Jay gave her an equally expressive look prostrating something along the lines of 'there's a good chance of that. After all I'm pretty sure we could do waaay better than these guys'. Cliff understood exactly what she meant and signed back 'we might be able to, but let's face it we love them anyway.' Jay nodded, before hesitantly signing back slightly hesitantly as she tried to recall the sign language she knew. "Accurate, at least I knew what I was signing up for, you gut these guys as an added bonus."

"And so am I it seems." Chas replied in response to Kay's comment. Not only would he have to deal with John calling for advice at unearthly hours, there'd be Elliott (needing advice on other matters) and no doubt Kay needing an outside perspective on things. And then as Fia grew up he'd have the uncle/ godparent/ family friend who shows up role to fulfil. Cliff looked up at the others floating near the ceiling of the craft, a dressing her next words specifically at John. "Yes, they were designed to put feet in, along with all manner of other appendages a species may use. But the most common use is the upside down hanging." "Knew it!" John smirked, from his upside down pose, realising how ironic it was that he was hanging in a bat-like fashion.

Kay found herself just shaking her head at both Fia and John. She wasn't sure who was the child and who was supposedly the future parent out of the dynamic in this moment in time. She noticed Cliff turn round and sigh at the lot of them which made her smirk slightly, before noting the clear private opinions she was sharing with Jay. She looked at Chas when he joined in on the conversation about it'll be a lot for him also, and she nodded. "True, something tells me you'll be dragged into their...whatever this is... alot." She chuckled, gesturing at the cheekiness and teasing of each other they were doing. Though she had to admit, it was kind of nice to see John have this playful side on show with his kid.

Then came the confirmation that the bars were indeed meant for feet and John's smug reply. "And there's the smug smirk from mister ironic" she smirked back, which made Fia laugh. "She's got a point there, it is kinda ironic." Fia retorted with an equally obvious smirk. "Chas...how do we put up with this lot?" Kay questioned but with a smile. "Because I'm starting to question it" she laughed.

"I know I will, it's practically in my jobs descriptions, Hells, it basically is why job description." Chas answered, finally figuring out how to do a flip and not bang his head into and chairs or walls. The blacksmith gave him a thumbs up, before doing a flip of his own. John just rolled his eyes, delighted that he'd made the right assumption and not made an utterly tit out of himself. At the next question from Kat the cabbie just shrugged. "I don't know. I think I basically just accepted that this is a job for life a long time ago and I guess that just massively lowered my expectations for how life is meant to be after that." "I've told Chas many times that he should put 'professional putting up with other people's bullshit' on his resume, but there was something about it not being a proper job that meant he couldn't."

"What Chas isn't saying is that he questions what I do, almost asuch as I question what I do." John's standard reason for why he was doing something do completely out of character was that he was 'completly off his scone'. He'd said that once around Bobbo when he decided to actually help the hero types save the world and it had become one of his more known phrases. But 'bollocks' still took top place on the podium and never would be toppled. "Somebody has to do it." Chas shrugged. Cliff and Jay continued signing back and forth while giving looks at each another and to the others and then back to each other. "I agree with most of that, but the last bit is totally uncalled for." John signed back, having followed most of their conversation.

Kay smiled and nodded at Chas' words. She could easily see it now how either Fia or John would drag Chas into their competitive teasing and bickering to try and make the other stop, which was an amusing thought to her. She watched as he made a flip successfully, just letting the rest of them get on with their flips, spins and anything else they felt the need to do. She chuckled at Chas' next comment and then Elliott's little addition. She looked to John's upside down state as he spoke up and just smirked.

"But then we chose this life with him so I guess we're all just as much to blame, or just as crazy as he is. So I guess it all works out in the end" she smiled. "Wouldn't actually have it any other way though" she added truthfully. She really wouldn't have it any other way, she had lived the other way and it wasn't a life. It was just existing and surviving, and she felt stripped of everything she was. Sure, since being with him her life had become even more crazy but she could smile again and found her place in the world. She gained friends and family, and learned to love. She wouldn't trade that for anything else she had previously.

Fia noticed John sign back, realising that he had been taking notice of their separate conversation the whole time, and she got intrigued to what was being said, as it didn't go amiss that the two girls were looking at the rest of them before back at each other to sign with each other.

"I think my sanity in that regard went out the window many, many years ago." Chas agreed. There was almost nobody outside the shuttle that could understand why he'd stayed with John for so long or why he'd stayed in the first place. There was something magnetic about John, a sense of danger, intrigue and a hint of that by going with him your life wouldn't be the same. He had a pull that brought people too him, even if he didn't want them there. It was why so many of his friends and acquaintances died, they werent cut out for it, but they wanted to be a part of 'it' anyway, never mind that they didn't know what 'it' was. "And I could think of some things to change, like letting me actually have a bloody holiday for once." "Fair point on that. But yes, aside from that, I don't think any of us would have it any other way."

"Not bad for somebody who claims to be rusty at sign." Cliff replied, slowing her movements slightly, to ensure that John could properly read and interpret them. "Well it's been three or four years since I had a proper chance to use it, and reading sign while upside-down isn't easy." He replied prompting a reply of "No shit? Really? Never would have guessed" from Jay along with the accompanying raised eyebrow making a singularly unimpressed face that very clearly said 'no shit' but her eyes were bright so she was only making a joke, not actually being serious on the matter. John's response was simply "smart arse" which prompted Elliott to join in. "And you wonder why all I know in sign is insults and inappropriate jokes."

Kay found herself half chuckling at what Chas said but most of her chuckle was conveyed in her eyes. It only grew when Chas said about making John allow him to have a holiday once in a while that didn't come with an alterior motive on John's half. Her attention turned to the others seeing them all sign a conversation and realised it was that, that had drawn Fia's attention away from them. She noticed the look in Jay's eyes but there was no way she was going to insert herself and find out what warranted the look toward John, she knew it was all harmless banter, that much was obvious.

Kay then just gazed out the window, even if there wasn't anything to really see, she still looked out of it. Fia floated to beside her, "you alright mum?" She asked. "Yeah baby girl, just looking out the window" Kay replied. Fia nodded and just let herself float around, making sure not to get in the way so the sign conversation wasn't blocked in any way. She just let herself enjoy herself in her own way. Kay found herself just thinking about many different things as she looked out the window, mostly about how fast Fia was growing and wondering just how much longer she actually had. Then it got her wondering about when she'd start feeling her kick and move around in the womb, depending on how far along she actually was in comparison to a normal pregnancy.
