Well since someone got tired of waiting, Magnus was back where Niklaus told him they were meeting. He had firewood and struck flint on the armor on his wrist, watching the sparks fly before it caught and the flame rose up slowly. He put the flint down and got closer to the fire, warming his scales. @Valefar

(savage)

Niklaus turned back to where she believed their camp was, prey in hand. Albeit getting lost a few times, she eventually found her way back, but she didn't bother acknowledging the fact that she was there, not after seeing the flint that was slowly raised to create her archenemy. Hearing the crackling flames made her cringe with fear, reminding her of the twigs that snap underneath feet during hiking trails, and so, it was difficult for her to continue moving towards Magnus. When she finally did escape from the shrubbery, she stayed as far from the fire as possible, the very sight of it taunting her.

Magnus looked up when he heard the female returning. He focused on unchaining the part of his armor that held it all together on his torso. Once he got it, the armor fell to the ground with a thud, not bouncing from impact at all, showing how heavy it was. He moved it closer to the fire so it could get warm, then looked back over at Niklaus. "What would happen if you got too close to the fire?" He asked.

"I'll become ill," she admitted, reaching towards the group to sit. It wasn't the simple flu, of course, but rather, it was more of a debilitating sickness. Her legs crossed over one another, allowing her to get comfortable, and she pulled out one of the blades she used to skate to begin skinning the prey from earlier. After a minute of dealing with the guts, she rolled up her sleeves, deciding that she was better of that way. However, it wasn't something she'd done for years, not even around family, so she was both hesitant and fidgety to do it. Now showing was what looked like a third-degree burn on the inside of her right forearm, similar to that of a chemical burn. The tissue and muscle displayed was ebony in color, looking like severely frostbitten skin, and the bone presented had a white hue instead of the typical yellowish tint.

Magnus didnt say anything about her getting sick, but he did notice the marking on her arm. He was too curious, and he didnt have the simple courtesy to keep it to himself, so he asked about it. "What happened to your arm?"

The giantess halted every movement, practically frozen in place. Gently, the hands holding the blade and the bird fell into her lap, and frankly, she didn't mind the mess. She decided that, although she wasn't ready to give the full story, she'd give the crocodile a taste of her past. "Idiots trying to display the dominance they thought they had," she muttered. The memory flashed in her eyes, reminding her of the phrase that haunted her throughout her life. 'You're going to burn in Helheim, so we'll prepare you for that.' Her grip on the soon-to-be meal tightened, but she brought it back to the blade once again.

That reminded Magnus of why he hated humans so much, that always thought they were hot shit. Sometimes it seemed humans just deserved their death. He had no idea what to say to that, but what he did know is that he heard some rushing water, which meant either a creek or a river. He stood, "I'll be right back, I mean it this time when I tell you to stay here" He said, walking toward her, which was the direction he needed to go in. But he stopped and knelt down in front of her, "Humans wont come near you with me around" Meaning that he wouldnt let any try to do that kind of crap to her again as long as he was there. The croc brushed his nose against her cheek in a sort of nuzzle, then he stood and he walked into the shrubbery.

"Alright," she replied, deciding that she'd be obedient this time around. This time around, she trusted Magnus and had no doubt about his return; the inconspicuous contact advised her of that much, and to her dismay, her ears turned a bright red due to the action. With her eyes, she followed his figure, staring at his movement until he vanished from behind the shrubbery. Failing to ignore the heat radiating from her body, she focused on the task at hand, prepping her meal, yet this hardly served as a distraction. Although she was unaware if her voice was audible to him, she murmured, "Thank you."

Magnus reached the water, you could barely call it a river. He knelt down and reached in, getting some water and using it to clean his scales. He could hardly believe what he had just done, the kindness he showed not even a minute ago. His brain was split up about how he thought about it, one side knew it was a weakness and that he was getting soft. The other half of his brain saw it as something good he did for once. He had never tried protecting anyone before, and now he was. His actions toward the ice female were odd, something he's never done before, but there was something that he just couldnt shake. After he cleaning, he returned back to camp, thankful that the water wasnt that far away from the site. He returned to his place at the fire, curling his tail around his legs when he sat down. He wished that fire didnt hurt her as bad, so she didnt have to be all the way over there. But it was obvious if she was too close for too long than she would get real hurt.

Repeating every few seconds, the words of the crocodile replaced the haunting phrase. She despised the feeling of the heat radiating from her own body, and yet, she couldn't tame the reaction; the female wasn't even sure if it was something she wanted to control, which was certainly new for her. All she knew was that she was evolving into an entirely new person next to the crocodile. Head turning at the sound of his footsteps, the giantess glanced up at Magnus, turning back to her trimmed dish afterwards. The female wished the curse she had been born with was different, like something involving fire; that way, she could be the type to stay in the same environment as the reptile humanoid, or at least, she could be closer to him. With furrowed eyebrows, she took a chunk out of the raw food, the remnants of blood running down her chin. It was chewy and frankly beyond disgusting, yet it was something she'd grown used to over the years.

"It's a long story with a disappointing ending, so how about I just not tell it to you, eh?" Mac grumbled, as he continued his work with the nail.

She sighed, "Alright." She was concerned about him. And, why wouldn't she. Everything he's done for her, being concerned is the least she could do. But for now, she decided to change the subject. "So, you hear about that Gorgen up in Opalescent?"

"Gorgon." He corrected. Mac was Miley's original teacher. He taught her everything she knew about monster hunting. And she was also one of his very best friends. "But no. No I have not heard of this gorgon in Opalescent. What's happening with it?"

"Don't correct me, you know what I meant," Miley muttered. "Anyway, the Gorgon was like, scaring everyone. Well, me an my company were near by, but the boys were too scared to do anything. Three hours later, yours truly came back with its head. She was a major dick."

Magnus stretched out as close to the fire as he could get, and a good pro to having bulks of muscle was that it helped a lot to keep him warm. Eventually, he curled up and put his tail over his muzzle and clawed hands over his nose. He closed his eyes, his body settling into a comfortable scaly ball and he slowly fell into sleep. Once he was in a deep sleep, he starting making a snoring/growling noise and his tail would twitch sometimes.

Lyla was doing her normal hunting around, seeing what all she could find at night. She hummed to herself, unaware that she was approaching the camp of Niklaus and Magnus. It had been a few hours since Magnus had fallen asleep, which means he was out of his dream state. Which also means he was kind of awake. And all of a sudden, a human smell came to his nose. His eyes opened and his head lifted off the ground, it was no doubt a human he could smell. He was starving. His body uncurled, standing at full height of 8'7 ft. Lyla might have been better off if she had approached from Niklaus's side, but the unlucky gal stumbled into the jaws of the beast. His hunting skills were able to track her, so when she stepped out of the shrubbery, she was met with teeth in her shoulder and flung across the clearing. She reached around with her good arm, now panicking, for one of her shotguns. She yanked it out of the holster but when she pointed it, Magnus was there and knocked it clean from her hands. Lyla was terrified, the mass of scale in front of her lunged. She kicked out to try to kick him in the face or nose, but the thing about his nose was that his razor sharp teeth were right under it. His teeth sank into her leg, making her scream out in pain. And now her second mistake, she tried shoving the creature off her. Her leg was free, however, her left arm was trapped in the bloody jaws and was crushed. No sound of pain she could make would justify her when Magnus ripped the limb from her body. He was able to eat the arm with ease, crunching the bones in his jaws as if they were mere splits of wood under heavy boots. She, again, tried getting up and met the claws of the croc. The claw scarring her eye and cheek. Her shrieks of pain seemed to echo throughout the forest. Magnus was playing with his food.

Mac heard the cry from Lyla, and immediately jumped up. Lyla was in trouble. So many things were going through his head. All he could think and all he could make his body do was run. Run toward the danger. He grabbed his shotgun, and the rest of his weapons, and bolted off to where the cry came from.

'It's your fault You let her go off into the woods alone. Now she's gonna die.' Mac thought, as he ran faster than he ever had before. Just then, he realized that in his hand was the woodcutting axe he had used to split the firewood at Tallah's house. He must have grabbed it for some reason. But now, all he thought was to find Lyla. Jumping over logs, and sliding under fallen trees, he ran, even going to throw off his coat to keep it from weighting him down. About thirty seconds later, Mac arrived at the scene. The crocodile god was covered in his friend's blood. And her arm... oh god, her arm.... In a wave of fury, Magnus caught the blunt side of his axe, effectively shattering the animal's teeth, as well as knocking him away for a bit.

With the monster temporarily incapacitated and about six feet away, the bearded man cradled his apprentice in his arms, tears flowing down from his cheeks and hitting the ones of his best friend.

"L-Lyla, no... p-please.... I'm so sorry...."

Miley, a but confused, but worried, followed Mac. After arriving as roving the scene, she saw Layla. "Oh shit..." she wasn't well aquainted with the girl, but she knew that her and Mac were close. And her arm...well hell, anyone would be at least as roving tender bit angry. From her left tigh, she grabbed the red and yellow short spear looking thing, that, after a spin, was aimed at Mangus, her back to Mac. And the spear, no longer a spear but a rifle.

If Miley was to look closely, the orange, flaming glow from Mac's shotgun would start to dim, and for some reason, surround Mac.

Tears of fury covered his cheeks, as he held her closer to his chest, praying to a god, that he had all but ceased to believe in, that she still was alive That she still had a pulse.. You should have never let this happen... It was all your fault.. You did this to her... You are to blame... She was going to die because of you... You failed her in her time of need...

A wave of heat surrounded him, distorting the air as well as increasing the temperature. His skin began to char and become the color of ash.

Miley briefly looked iver her shoulder, then back at Mangus, before snapping her gaze back over her shoulder at Mac as she processes what was happening. "What the fuck...." She muttered, taking a step to the left, before she turned back to look at Mangus. Well, this was going to be....interesting to say the least.

The sweet though of rest pulled Niklaus in, forcing her into a deep sleep. This wasn't common, of course, because her abilities would halt when she was unconscious, but the lacking energy needed to be replaced. For her, that meant that her body had to bare through the hellish heat, and as her eyes shot open due to a scream, her head began to throb. A heatstroke. Her skin was as flushed as it was today with Magnus, but its cause was the ever-raising body temperature. Arms behind her, she raised herself up, eyes searching for her crocodile pal. When she failed to see him, her heart began to race, and despite her current condition, she strained her body to stand on her two legs. Shuffling to the noise, she found quite the predicament waiting for her: Magnus covered in blood, the girl he obviously attacked in ruins, a redhead pointing some sort of new-age gun at her partner, and a man whose life seemed to be crumbling before him. Eyes wide, she prepared to jump out from the shrubbery to stick by the crocodile's side, but the heat radiating from the male, who she now remembered from the attack of the mantis, made her stop her actions. What had Magnus gotten himself into? She had to cover her mouth to fight what was either bile, blood, or a mixture of the two from escaping her body. Nevertheless, she couldn't leave the crocodile to his own devices, and so, she stumbled to the front of the tree she was next to, a few feet behind Magnus.

Magnus snarled as he was knocked away from his prey, he was so close to sating his hunger. He was dazed from the attack, not expecting to be hit that hard, and shook his head to get any fuzz out of his eyes. Now there was two enemies, he could smell their hostility. Well, that mostly coming from the man turning to fire, but he was wary of the gun pointed at him by the divine female. He snarled, his tail whipping back and forth. He was ready to attack, but then he heard something behind him. He looked back and saw Niklaus, and how weak she was was evident. He looked at the offending group, then back at his partner. He turned his back fully on the two, facing Niklaus, "What are you doing? The heat will kill you!" He snapped, looking back to the two then again back at Niklaus. "I'll be fine, get to a safe distance" He said, turning his back to her. He was ready to fight for himself and for her safety now. "I'll take you all on!" He roared at Miley and Mac.

@Safety Hammer@FireMaiden@Valefar

With a muffled voice, she replied, "Fire melts ice, but water puts out fire, doesn't it?" Her voice was painstakingly weak, so in return, the justifications for her actions were also inadequate. Niklaus turned her attention to to the gunman, giving her a nod of acknowledgment. Every one of the people around her were fairly memorable, all from today; the person who had teleported them away wasn't near, however, and the giantess wondered if he would pop up and give the pair another disadvantage. "She has a point," she muttered, "I'm here.. I can handle a little heat." That was a lie, but hey, anything she had to do to ensure Magnus's safety was something she'd do. Although she didn't know the crocodile for long, she had no doubt that she'd risk her life to save him. If it weren't for his acceptance, she wouldn't try as hard to protect him, but already, she was grateful for the crocodile's existence. Pushing herself off of the tree, she tore the other glove she wore, ready to defend herself to the mildest of her abilities.. Mild because, of course, it's not as if she'd be able to hurt a fly like this, but in the very least, she could try. Her eyes were glued onto the firey-man, waiting for his move; however, she felt pity for him at the same moment, knowing that the person in his arms had to be immensely special to him.

Mac's head swung towards the crocodile man, his eyes a blazing orange. He looked over at Miley and spoke in a deep, and strange voice. "Call for Tallah... Get her out of here..." He said, as he gently set Lyla down.

As soon as she was out of his hands, his clenched fists went up in flames. His beard and hair seemed to dissolve, and a streak of fire lit up on his head. His shirt burned and crackled away, as well as the rest of his skin becoming the texture and look of volcanic rock. Every step he took, and every place where his bare foot touched the ground,  the green, lively grass burned to a crisp.

"You... you hurt her... you killed her..." He said in a deep, echoing voice.

"You know, it is far too hard to ignore the shift in Fate when so many unique people gather up in one spot for a showdown. See, there Tallah, I told you Mac-imize would be here. Oh, they don't look too good." Garren stepped through a portal with Tallah in tow. He took in the scene spread out before him cooly. "Are we interrupting something?" He crossed his arms as Tallah set eyes on Lyla and Mac.

"Mac!" Tallah rushed over to the two. He was streaming a river of emerald healing energy as he approached the two, but only got so far before the heat Mac was putting off kept him from getting any closer. Throwing up an icy shield and calling forth a light snowfall to contain the heat, Tallah called out to get the burning man's attention. "Mac! Let me get closer! I can help her! Mac, wake-up!"

Finally piecing together a vague understanding of what had happened here, Garren stood back equidistant from the two parties keeping his arms crossed. "I'm not usually an expert in tense situations, but maybe everyone should just back down. You all are obviously powerful, and I'd rather not have to evacuate the surrounding settlements just so you can brawl." Leave it to Garren to chuck cringe into a tense situation.
