Fandom How To Train Your Dragon: Fight for Freedom (Open)

"Enjoy your day then, see ya soon," Gunnvor said, lifting his goblet to him and finishing it off herself as he hustled out of the door. She couldn't help but admire how interesting the guy was as he mounted his skrill and shot straight up to the storm. Rolling her eyes in amusement, she locked the money in her shopkeeper's chest and returned the plates to her, taking the fish back as well before heading outside, noticing some rain drops starting to fall.

She whistled loudly, calling her dragon's name. Didn't take more than a minute before Knut popped up over the cliffs, undoutably he was playing around at the sea. Roaring in happiness as she called, he beelined straight to his rider.

"You're such a child!", Gunnvor shouted at him playfully as he got close, he responded by landing and nudging his head against her so she fell over."You oaf!", she exclaimed, but before she could react, her beast grabbed her by the back of her tunic and tossed her onto his back. Smirking, she scratched his neck, making the dragon purr as she pondered where to go next. She figured the arena would have some of her fellow trainees in it by now, so that was a good place to start."Let's go, Knut," she shouted to her Scauldron and he skipped up into the sky, his long body twisting and long, fan-like wings flapping as he picked up speed.

Nothing beat soaring through the sky with her best friend, but their ride wasn't long as the arena came into focus. Tons of people where already gathered there, most with their dragons in tow. They could surely get into something interesting.

Knut made his way downward, spiraling into the arena and landing. Gunnvor jumped off, her windblown hair all over the place as she made her way over to the group.

"Such a gorgeous day to go raise some hell, don't you think?," she asked the group.

Aalin looked at Spitz and laughed slightly, rubbing the saliva from her cheek with the cloth that was just returned " The wild dragon on this list is slightly alarming, who ever is doing this isn't just going after our dragons. Nothing seems to be of limits to the perpetrator" She said thinking about the wild Stormcutter, Aalin had always found this type of dragon her favorite out of all she has read about. If she were honest that would be the type of dragon she believed would be ideal for her. She scratched Spitz's neck and back carefully as she thought of her plan of action and what they should do before beginning their search for clues and the dragons. "I suggest that we pair up to search, one group to the cliffs the other group stay in the village and talk to the missing dragons partners. In the mean time we should train and get prepared to search " She said thinking out loud. it wasn't the best plan but it was all she could come up with that wouldn't leave another dragon alone near the cliffs.

"Definitely," Wyn said to Aalin, agreeing with her assessment of the wild stormcutter. "No one goes alone while this... thief? Dragonnapper? Whoever is stealing our dragons, is still on the loose."

Skids flinched away from Moira after she snatched up the paper, out of sheer force of habit. She made a comment about her dad and his "hair-brained schemes," and he nodded. "I c-can understand w-wanting to get out of the h-house." On several occasions, Skidlout would spend the night at Wyn's hut, away from his father and his grandfather. Despite loving his dad, he hated the cold looks and admonitions and loud yelling that normally came with a bruise or two after he did something that wasn't very "viking-like." Like studying and mapping stars, or singing on the rooftop, or being really gentle. Sirius could only protect him so much, and she wouldn't dare stand up to Hookfang's master. Hookfang was very protective of Skids too, but he still spooked the slightly smaller deathsong.

Nax looked at the smothering Smokebreath running around and cocked his head. He had never seen one of them before, at least not up close. He trotted over to the smaller dragon and grabbed her by the tail with his mouth, gently giving it a tug. The Speedstinger was only investigating, being his curious self. Keltoi Keltoi

Spritz looked up and roared a greeting to Knut as he and his rider landed on the ground. He twisted his long tail over and thwacked the other scauldron on the head.

"You said it, Gunnvor. We were just about to start some training, or relaxing." Wyn said as Rusvax approached the other rider, sniffing her before running off again.

"I'd like to meet this dragon stealer, or rather, have him meet my maces or Knut's water jets," she grumbled. There was nothing more sinister to her than someone who was directly threatening the safety of herself, her village, and all the dragons.

"I've been cooped up in this village all morning. I volunteer to go to the cliffs. Momma needs some action," she smirked.

Knut purred low in his throat at the other Scauldron, bowing down in a playful stance as he shot a thin stream of water at Spritz.

After a bit of swimming, Malachai had gotten out of the water and taken a cloth from his pack to dry his legs and hair. He had put on his pants, but left off his shirt so that could air dry. Then he put the cloth away only to find that Alucard didn't meet him. That's weird. The storm had passed. Where is he?

Shouting his name, Malachai began to walk to look for him. He knew that Alucard was in trouble if he didn't come as soon as possible. Sure enough, Malachai heard a roar which had gotten him to start running to its owner. Happily, he saw Alucard but he was bounded by a rope tethered across his back and staked to the ground. Quickly, Malachai took out a small knife and cut its ropes freeing his friend. He then got on the back of Alucard before taking off. It was getting worse. He had to warn the others.

Endlend jerked forward as he watched the speedstinger picked up Morrigan's tail, both worried and angry. His had made it's way over his shoulder to his longsword, but relaxed. This was how dragons acted.

Morrigan, never to be taken lightly, twirled around and snapped at the speedstinger, no mercy at all. Smoke billowed out of her jaws as she growled. Her wings were splayed out, to enlarge her appearance. Endlend knew he could leave his dragon to take care of herself.

Aalin nodded still watching dragons pass over head, She was still thinking of a list of people who would be able to do this. The last time something like this happened it was Drago and his trappers but as far as Aalin knew he was dead and his trapper had turned over a new leaf. She knew that one of the trappers was taking care of Stoic's dragon, Bone crusher and many had moved to berk after the fall of the bewilderbeast. Aalin's father had been a trapper but gave that up to be with her mother and his dragon, Lark a Deadly nightmare. She looked towards the person that was identified as 'Skids' but quickly turned back to what she was doing when Aalin made eye contact with Sirius.

"I'm basically dead weight without a dragon so ill stick to the ground, search from the ground " She said crossing her arms, a serious look crossed her face for a moment before returning to the happy go lucky smile she always had when around other vikings to not worry them to her internal thoughts and worries, like what if she never got a dragon or even worse, being killed by her partner dragon.

After what felt like an eternity, Malachai and Alucard arrived at the training grounds. It made him grimace at the thought of when he had started dragon training, but was proud of the fact that he had caught on pretty fast. He had made Alucard swoop down by the group, but away a tad due to Alucard being a Skrill and they weren't easy to trust others. So, he had gotten him to stay away but also keep a close watch and if he had wanted to be could follow Malachai.

Walking up to the group, he didn't really care for the others except to find Wyn. She was the main person he wanted to talk to. "Wyn. I have grave news. It'll help somewhat, but as far as how much I don't know." Malachai spoke, looking past the group and eventually eyeing Wyn.

Spritz roared in return to Knut's squirting and bounded over to face his "opponent." He cocked his head and rumbled in amusement, before head butting the other scauldron in the side, attempting to knock him over.
"We'll get the perpetrator, Gunnvor. I'm certain of that."

"I'm basically dead weight without a dragon so ill stick to the ground, search from the ground "

Wyn nodded, then patted Aalin on the shoulder. "You'll get your dragon soon." It wasn't so much a reassurance as it was a promise to the Viking girl.

Then a familiar face approached her, his features serious, more so than usual.
"Wyn. I have grave news. It'll help somewhat, but as far as how much I don't know."
Wyn stood, raising an eyebrow. "Malachai, what's wrong?" She looked around the dome and spotted his dragon, who looked both wary and spooked. "What happened? You okay?" She looked him up and down. He didn't appear hurt, just severe.

Morrigan's snap at Nax caused him to drop her tail and squawk in alarm. He crouched low, his tail lowered as the smaller dragon puffed herself up. He raised his frill in response and then did something rather surprising: he sat down right in front of Morrigan, tail gently scraping the ground as it moved back and forth.
Out of all four of her stingers, Nax was Wyn's most innocent. He was often found getting himself into trouble, once even accidentally coming home covered in Nadder spikes. He was also the most submissive, which was strange for his species. Wyn's theory was that Nax might be a little mentally impaired and might have been dropped as an egg.

After hear Wyn, he walked closer to her and shook his head. "A storm came and Alucard wanted to play in the lightning while I swam so I let him. After a while, I had gotten out and he wasn't there when it passed so I went to look for him. Luckily I did, but he was under a net that was staked to the ground." Malachai then clenched his hands into fists awaiting to meet the trapper. "Whoever it is, they're getting bolder and we need to keep a better eye on our dragons. At least until this said person is caught." In an instant, he realized that he hadn't put a shirt on before touching ground but the situation at hand was more important than appearance. At any rate, he wasn't dry still so he didn't care. "Like I said, I was swimming so I'm still a tad wet." He noted just in case she asked why he was shirtless.

Aalin looked toward Wyn and smiled knowing that the girl meant what she said, standing up and stretching she decided to get ready while the others talked about the plan. She moved away from the rest of the group and pulled out her notepad, pacing she went over her notes on dragons, the current situation and made a quick checklist of things she may need like paper, sheild and bandages incase anyone, including the dragons got hurt. Sure she hated blood but her hatred for people being hurt was stronger.

Knut rolled as Spritz tackled him over, the rumbling deep in his throat was full of playful amusement. He rolled to his feet, opening his wide jaws to spray a cloud of misty water at his "opponent".

Gunnor covered her mouth in shock as the half-naked rider explained what happened to his dragon.

"This is way too close to home. Whatever is happening, it needs to become our upmost priority to resolve it," she growled.

As she wasn't much of a tactician, she looked to Wyn."Your call as to what we should do. I'll happily go where you believe we can find clues so I can smash these cowards faces in."

((AYEEE!!! Don't fail on me now guys!))

Hearing Gunnor's words about smashing their faces in made him smirk. The feeling was mutual. His expression changed to seriousness as he turned towards his companion who had taken to a giant tree to avoid the other dragons and vikings. With a shrug he turned back towards the women and nodded. "We need a plan. We're basically sitting ducks alone with it just being is and our dragons. It's easier to ambush us if we're by ourselves. These are dragon nappers which means they know what they're doing and that makes them all the more dangerous." Malachai began. "However, we don't know how much they know about dragons. For all we know, they could've tried to catch a Nightmare. The net was designed so that a dragon with only two legs couldn't get up since the front was weighted. But, if they know an extensive amount then we have to act fast. We can't take that risk." He concluded awaiting got what the others had to say.

Orca sat up in a tree, intent on finishing one of the books from her collection... for the third time. She groaned and sat up, as Wild jumped into the tree, the thick branches creaking under his weight. Quite suddenly, the one directly under Wild snapped, and he crashed to the ground. She laughed and Wild gave her an unpleasant glare. Orca rolled her eyes as her dragon left for a moment, disappearing inside her house, and came back with his saddle. He had a pleading look on his face and Orca smiled, putting in on and mounting him. She noticed she was missing something, and ran back into her house. Orca came back with a small leather backpack type thing, and climbed back onto Wild, as Cyrus' head poked out from the sac.

Wild ran, and jumped off the edge of the cliff, only to come back up again, his large wings beating in unision. He gave a throaty growl, and shot up into the air, in the general direction of berk.

Draco whooped loudly as his sand wraith, Castiel sped up, shooting across the sky, he looked down to see a gathering of people in the training ring and turned Castiel around. The dragon grunted and slowed, flying down to the entrance. Draco dismounted and motioned for Cas to follow him in. Approaching the group, he spoke, "Is there a problem here?"

Scree swooped through the trees, closing in on a large pig. The stormcutter rose above the trees, honing in on her prey, and dived for it. Her claws caught fur, and she pulled up, killing the thing swiftly. Scree growled, seeing a small group of nadders in the distance, and turned, heading back to her cliffside home. She touched down near a stream at the base of the cliff, and ate her kill, listening for signs of opponents. Once finished, she lifted herself in the air again, and flew into her cave, high up on the cliff.

After the mist cleared, Spritz shook himself off like a dog, then roared in delight and sprayed Knut back. It was a gentle and cold spray, he didn't want to hurt the other dragon, after all.

Wyn shook her head. "These guys are pros, definitely. Not amateurs." She scratched Rusvax behind the frill and sighed. "That list is all of the dragons we know they've captured. For all we know there could have been more wild ones."
Skids nodded. "Sirius and I were flying over Furious Fjord the other day. There's been a major decrease in the Deadly Nadders and Smokebreaths there..... all we saw were Triple Strykes and a couple hotburples...."

Wyn raised an eyebrow. "That IS odd. The Fjord should be teeming with nadders. It's mating season for them. And the smokebreaths should have come out to defend their nests when you arrived." She looked at those gathered around her. "It's about time to talk to my dad about this."

Gulp. Talk to her dad? The best dragon trainer in the entire world? Brilliant. She had to stand in his shadow again. She loved her dad, sure, but it's not like she could just.... be him. Be a leader. Yet everyone looked to her to do so. Woo hoo.

"Wait, you haven't talked to Hiccup already? You do know how serious this is don't you? What if they get to Spritz next?" Castiel bristled slightly as Draco's tone sharpened, and he raised an arm to calm the nervous wraith.

Orca threw her arms out as Wild glided along smoothly. She lead him in the general direction of the Fjord. She loved to watch all the dragons running around from above. She noticed, with slight alarm, the obvious decrease in dragons, and frowned. Wild bristled slightly, and shot down, receiving a surprised yelp from Orca. He touched down, and looked around, making sure the two were covered from above, by the thick canopy of leaves.

Orca dismounted, slightly confused, but quickly heard the beating of wings, and a strained cry of a fallen dragon. With Wild following close behind, she slowly made her way in the direction of the noise. Beneath a large rose bush, was a small, fireproof dragon trap, and inside, two terrified Smokebreaths. Orca furrowed her brow in anger, and kneeled, studying the trap closely. After a few moments, she began to tinker with the door of it, and turned a small switch barely poking out of the metal. With a triumphant smile, the door opened, and the dragons ran out, disappearing into the forest. With a few ice blasts from Wild, the trap was mangled beyond further use. Concern trumping her anxiety, and shyness, she mounted Wild and had him fly her to the arena, where she knew there was a meeting.

Wild landed just outside, and let Orca slide off his back. Wild gave her an assuring growl, and lead her into the arena, keeping contact with her. Orca untied the damaged trap, and handed it to Wyn. "I just released two smokebreaths from this. It was under a bush somewhere in the Fjord." She realized she had just interrupted something, and backed off awkwardly.

Scree woke after a few hours of resting, and positioned herself at the entrance to her cave, alert for trespassers and enemies. (Stormcutters can usually tell the difference between a friend and a foe, but her judgement is clouded due to her past with humans and dragons alike.)

Moira scratched her chin and shook crossed her arms, leaning back against Sigr. "I was just over at the Summer Isles where the Stormcutters and Terrible Terrors tend to hangout. You know they LOVE to sun themselves over there. I didn't see but three Terrible Terrors... this doesn't bode well."

The young woman narrowed her eyes in thought. "I could take some people out to the dragon hotspots to look for traps. I hate to think about some poor soul getting stuck and then carted off to wherever..." Her expression fell a little before she looked at Skids and ruffled his hair a little before turning to Wyn, "Wait- your dad doesn't know about this? The Chief? Wyn, come on! You're smarter then that!" She said, no malice intended. "We need to tell the adults, especially Chief Hiccup! He'd probably be the better one to ask about this then us kids!" She gestured at all the other teenagers around her.

Malachai's eyes widened at Wyn's response. He couldn't believe the chief didn't know about this. All the information they all had collected and not one word to him. Oh man what a speech. At least they didn't go off on their own and someone get their dragons caught first before telling Hiccup.

He gave Wyn a knowingly look of 'you know you'll probably hear it' and nodded in agreement with the others. "It's wise Wyn. We don't want to go ahead with this and risk ourselves or dragons without at least someone knowing." Malachai noticed the hesitation in her features and touched her shoulder then nodded. It was really the only type of encouragement he could do at the moment before moving his hand away and stepping back. "We'll all go with you if it helps." Malachai suggested.

"Wait, you haven't talked to Hiccup already? You do know how serious this is don't you? What if they get to Spritz next?"

"Wait- your dad doesn't know about this? The Chief? Wyn, come on! You're smarter then that!"

"It's wise Wyn. We don't want to go ahead with this and risk ourselves or dragons without at least someone knowing."

Rebuke after rebuke hit Wyn's ears. She shook her head with a scoff. "I know, I know, but he has to know by now, right? Even if I haven't talked to him about it, others must have...."
She cringed inwardly at the thought of losing Spritz, but she kept a straight face. "Look guys, I-"
She was interrupted by Orca, handing her a piece of what looked like.... a trap?
"I just released two smokebreaths from this. It was under a bush somewhere in the Fjord."
Wyn paled. "It's getting worse. We haven't been able to get a good look at the more sturdy traps until now..." She turned to Orca. "You have every right to interrupt me with things like this, Orca. Don't apologize about it," she said with a serious look.

"It looks like the ones from Viggo Grimbourne's crashed and sunken ship...." Skids muttered, flinching a little at Moira's ruffle of his hair. He smiled at her though, and it was a shy smile.

Wyn looked at the Speedstinger by her side, and then scratched the dragon's nose. "We can't have everyone and their dragons coming into my house.... it would really freak out Stormfly and Toothless. If you guys come with me and leave the dragons outside, I think that would be best." She whistled, and Spritz stopped what he was doing, trotting over with and concerned look in his eyes. She mounted him and then looked down. Wyn put two fingers to her lips and blew, whistling loudly. Her stingers fell into a diamond formation, with Rusvax at the front point, and she pointed in the direction of her hut. "Home!"
At once the small pack was off, staying in the diamond formation as they ran.
"Let's go and get a lecture- I mean, Let's go tell my dad!" Wyn said, attempting humor.

Gunnvor rolled her eyes."I couldn't give a damn if I tried over the fact if Chief knows or not. We know where to look and we shouldn't stand around," she said, whistling for her dragon.

Before Knut could play with Spritz further, her whistle meant it was time to go. Bounding over, Gunnvor mounted her dragon.

As she mounted, Orca flew down with the traps. Shaking her head, she looked over at Moira.

"Moira, I'll come with you. No way I'm sitting around waiting for Hiccup's word," she called over to her.

Draco nodded, following swiftly, while Orca stood there awkwardly. "Oh, should I be coming too?" She asked quietly, nervously glancing at the other dragon riders.

As Malachai saw Wyn fly off, his mood changed. He was more serious and defiant. Probably due to his age. His head turned to Gunnvor and nodded. "I seek adventure. Not permission." Malachai then whistled and Alucard swiftly landed next to him. After mounting his friend, he smirked at the anticipation of adventure. "I'm coming with as well."

Just then, a timid voice asked if they should come too. Malachai's eyes went to Orca. It made him a bit irritated at how shy she was even though she was a dragon rider. "Make your own right decision. We won't get offended if you think going with Wyn is right." He stated and Alucard's head rose so he was standing up fully. Malachai looked at Moria and Gunnvor, "Lets go."

Aalin heard that they were going to see the cheif and she became a little nervous but began to follow Wyn's pack of speedsters barely keeping up with them and Wyn. She was at a big disadvantage when it came to traveling any distance but Aalin didn't seem to mind though and laughed occasionally when she caught up with the speedsters but eventually fell behind due to not keeping her speed up.

Stigandr woke with a start and stared at the wall in front of him. "...." He smoothed his wirey blonde hair out of his eyes only to have it fall back into his face. "....hrn..." Stigandr slowly got out of bed and got dressed. He put his two daggers onto his waist before stepping outside. The light momentarily stopped him and he covered his face as he closed the door to his little home. A large shadow appeared over him and helped his vision clear, three separate stingers came into view.

"....Hraorr." Stian addressed the Triple Strike and kept moving with the dragon in tow. He immediately started to go to woods to hunt as it was the only thing he could truly contribute to the village.

The group of stingers arrived at the front door of the hut and waited patiently for Wyn to arrive as well. Nax sat right down on the doorstep and looked innocently up at Aalin, a rumbling purr rising in his throat as he watched behind her for Wyn.

She grinned and let Spritz fly himself to their large hut where Hiccup and his family lived. "DAD!" she called out, landing Spritz and sprinting inside past her stingers and Aalin.

She was immediately greeted by Toothless with a warm roar and a pounce, tackling her to the floor. "Toothless! Toothless, not now!" Wyn laughed, scratching the nightfury under the chin. "Spritz! A little help here!" Toothless purred and nuzzled the Viking girl, then began licking her face gently.

"No need, Wyn. Toothless, C'mere bud!" A familiar voice said and Wyn tilted her head back to see the upside-down image of her father. Toothless obeyed his rider and went to Hiccup's side, giving Wyn one last lick on the nose before bounding over. "What's wrong Kiddo? You sounded distressed." Hiccup helped his daughter up to her feet and Wyn felt Spritz's hot breath on her back as she wiped the nightfury slobber from her face.

"Dad, someone's kidnapping the dragons. Furious Fjord was all but desolate, and it should be swarming with nadders."

Astrid entered the room, greeting Toothless and Spritz with a nod and a smile before returning her gaze on her daughter. "We know. We've been sending patrols all over the archipelago."

Wyn looked at her feet, sensing something in her father's gaze. "I should have come to you about it when I first heard it."

"Yeah, you should have, Wyn. But you came to me now and that's good, especially since another dragon's been taken." Hiccup said, looking at Astrid knowingly.

Wyn paled. "Wh... what? When?!?"

"This morning." Astrid replied, setting her shield down in a fur-covered seat. "We have the rest of the senior riders out patrolling for her now."

"Whose dragon was it?" Wyn asked, growing more nervous.

"It was one of the Baby Nadders. Whipwing. She never strays too far from the dragon nursery, and we found signs of a small scuffle down by the feeding troughs."

"Oh this is bad.... Dad, what if they're building another dragon army? What if they're gathering up the dragons so that we'll be defenseless?" Wyn was speaking hurriedly, and she ran a hand through her wild hair. "What if–"

"Slow down, Wyn." Astrid said, putting her hand on her daughter's shoulder. "It's not going to get that far."

"But Mom, what if–!"

"Ashwyn, breathe. You're worried for the dragons, and I am too, but we can't go around spouting 'what ifs' all over the Archipelago. It's no good to worry about it and not do anything to stop it." Hiccup said. "You know what you should do? You should take your band of friends and go investigate. See if you can pick up clues about who, or what, might be stealing these dragons."

"Really? You'd let me do that?"

"Well you'd do it anyway even if I told you not to go, so what's the point of saying no?"

Wyn smiled, kissed her dad on the cheek, and ran out, beckoning Spritz to follow. She stopped outside and looked at Aalin. "Whipwing was taken this morning. She's a baby nadder, lime green in color. I think we should investigate the stables."
She wanted to include the dragonless girl in on this, more than anything. It would be nice to have a friend to accompany her. Besides, the others were probably off trying to find the hunters, if she knew anything about them.

Hiccup watched Wyn leave and he sighed.

"She's turning out to be just like you, you know." Astrid said, smiling.

"Yeah. I'm proud of her." Hiccup replied as he scratched Toothless under the chin.

Skids nodded to the rest of the group as they began to mount up. "Permission or n-not, we need to g-g-get those dragons b-back." He walked over to Sirius and gently stroked her on the muzzle. "N-n-Now or never...." He muttered as he mounted his much more confident dragon.
Sirius roared melodiously and spread her hood, the eye patterns glinting in the sunlight.
