HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY
Discuss here any long OOC conversations regarding the Hogwarts roleplay topic.
You may also use this as a hotspot for questions and/or fandom-related discussions.
Lore: Main HP-canon lore, Harry Potter is now working at the Ministry of Magic and the Hogwarts School of W&W is under TOTALLY different staff and House Members. This means that no Minerva McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid or anything. I will roleplay all the Professors & more until we get the rest of Professors sorted in & applied.

Characters: Principal Wright (Sophia Wright, sorted in the Slytherin House when she was a Student.).

Dice System
When dueling with another player, every spell you will cast to them will be automatically considered as succeeded as long as you're not powergaming (example: if you cast "Stupefy" on somebody you've got in front of you, you'll automatically succeed. But if the other player is standing next to a wall and attempts to rush behind it, or if they are a trained wizard [included in their character application/roleplayed training themselves explictly], or if they cast a protecting spell, you will have to throw dices to see who wins.).
(VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: ONLY the victim has to roll to see if they are able to cast their protection spell in time/if they're able to at all. The attacker has only to roll: '[roll 1d100]' and act with the same explanation of the victim roll system if the attacker is trying to attack the victim and the victim is rushing behind a nearby wall/if there's a slight physic barrier between the two but there are still great chances for the attacker to cast their spell successfully. Also, the victim is not allowed to cast a Protection spell too many times over a reasonable limit.)

There you go with the dice explanation.

Protection spell dice system explanation
If you are in a basic duel, and you attempt to hit your opponent but he casts a protection spell (ie.: Protego), this is what you're going to do: go to Roleplaying Dice Roller · Rolz (if it asks you for a password, the password is Hogwarts2020) and ask your opponent to join as well. Now, the victim of the attacker ('victim' intended as the one casting the 'protection' spell) will type this in the chat (EXACTLY as I'm writing it, and ONLY the victim of the attack):

[roll 1d100]

0-10: attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.
10-49: attacker wins and victim fails.
50-90: attacker fails and victim wins.
91-100: attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the attacker receives some damage.
(note: those with a NONE training cannot cast protection spells)

Now, we have to make a few exceptions on those who have included a great training in their character application/have explicitly roleplayed having some training courses, attending lots of classes, etc. to master some abilities. If one has got a NONE training (no training specified in the character application/roleplayed), you'll proceed with the normal '[roll 1d100]'.

If one has got a BASIC training (maximum training you can specify in your character application [to avoid powergaming]/roleplayed), you'll proceed with this:
(note: if the attacker has got BASIC training, the attacker will roll. If the victim has got BASIC training, the victim will roll. If both the attacker and the victim have got BASIC training, then only the victim will roll as NONE training as you are both equal.).

Attacker - [roll 1d100]

0-10 - attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the attacker receives some damage.
10-31 - attacker fails and victim wins.
32-89 - attacker wins and victim fails.
90-100 - attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.

Victim - [roll 1d100]

0-10 - attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.
10-31 - attacker wins and victim fails.
32-89 - attacker fails and victim wins.
90-100 - attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the victim receives some damage.

If the victim has got a MEDIUM training (this training requires at least 5 lessons taken of each class and at least 3 homework submitted OVERALL), you'll proceed with this:
(note: if the attacker has got MEDIUM training and the victim any lower, the attacker will roll [roll 1d100] and they will need at least 40 to automatically succeed with attacking. If the victim has got MEDIUM training and the attacker any lower, the victim will roll [roll 1d100] and they will need at least 40 to automatically succeed with defending. If both the attacker and the victim have got MEDIUM training, only the victim will roll as NONE ([roll 1d100]) since they are equal, and the following rules will apply once again:
0-10: attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.
10-49: attacker wins and victim fails.
50-90: attacker fails and victim wins.
91-100: attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the attacker receives some damage.)

Also, once again, if the attacker has got MEDIUM training, the attacker will roll. If the victim has got MEDIUM training, the victim will roll. If both the attacker and the victim have got MEDIUM training, then only the victim will roll as NONE training as you are both equal.

Attacker - [roll 1d100]

0-10 - attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the attacker receives some damage.
10-25 - attacker fails and victim wins.
26-81 - attacker wins and victim fails.
82-100 - attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.

If the victim has got ADVANCED training (this training requires at least 10 lessons taken of each class and at least 7 homework submitted OVERALL), you'll proceed with this:
(note: if the attacker has got ADVANCED training and the victim any lower, the attacker will roll [roll 1d100] and they will need at least 25 to automatically succeed with attacking. If the victim has got ADVANCED training and the attacker any lower, the victim will roll [roll 1d100] and they will need at least 25 to automatically succeed with defending. If both the attacker and the victim have got ADVANCED training, only the victim will roll as NONE ([roll 1d100]) since they are equal, and the following rules will apply once again:
0-10: attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.
10-49: attacker wins and victim fails.
50-90: attacker fails and victim wins.
91-100: attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the attacker receives some damage.).

Attacker - [roll 1d100]

0-10 - attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the attacker receives some damage.
10-15 - attacker fails and victim wins.
16-75 - attacker wins and victim fails.
76-100 - attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.

Victim - [roll 1d100]

0-10 - attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.
10-15 - attacker wins and victim fails.
16-75 - attacker fails and victim wins.
76-100 - attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the victim receives some damage.

The last one is the MASTER training, the most powerful but also the most difficult one to gain. In order to gain this training, you'll have to apply for these requirements:
-have been roleplaying here for a reasonable timelapse;
-be at least a 7th Grader, Professor, Staff or Adult (NPCs allowed as well);
-if you're a 7th Grader, you have to have made at least 20 lessons of each class and at least 15 homework of each class, of which at least 5 homework with the "O" grade (A*);
-if you're roleplaying an Animagus and you want to roleplay as a MASTER training as well, you've got to PM me for authorization and/or any eventual Moderator in order to do that.

Now, if you've got the MASTER training and you're fighting anybody else with a Protection spell just like with all the other training, they will have to roll (the victim): '[roll 1d100]' and will have to get at least 90 to be able to cast the Protection spell. If somebody with the MASTER training fights somebody else with the MASTER training, and the victim will cast a Protection spell, the victim will have to roll as a NONE training as they're both equal (see the 'NONE' training rules or the spoiler to understand how it works once again.).
[roll 1d100]

0-10: attacker wins, victim fails & the wand of the victim receives some damage.
10-49: attacker wins and victim fails.
50-90: attacker fails and victim wins.
91-100: attacker fails, victim wins & the wand of the attacker receives some damage.

Also, a few quick side-notes before closing this thread:

1) Known MASTER trainings are Lord Voldemort, Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, etc.
2) MASTER training is also known as SUPREME training, and it's the hardest one to achieve.
3) Principals of the Hogwarts School of W&W (current one: me) will be automatically given it unless they've got OOC history (bans, warns, etc.), then they'll have to pass a roleplaying quiz as well.

Thank you, tell me if you don't understand something and/or you have got some tips for this!
