Realistic or Modern Heroes of Today: God's Territory

Unknown Numerals
Iris Levin
Location: Southern District
Time: 12:25 AM
"This is stupid. You don't have to carry me, after all I was shot in the arm?" Iris sighed, and slid down from Unknown's shoulders and onto the ground. The two of them quickly put on hoods before they could pass the next security camera on the streets, when they suddenly realized that there was a problem. A male and a small child walked past them, quickly, and into a house. The house was clearly labeled 2551 Sett Street. Unknown didn't care much, but Iris was slightly fascinated. Funny how they were walking exactly in the line of sight of the camera even in the darkness.

"I don't think we're in the clear yet. I can sense a disturbance in the camera. Do you know what happens if the city is spying on us, and the armored guy gets caught?" Unknown pointed to the lens, straight at the camera. A number floated around his fingertip; not because he wanted the people to see, which he didn't, but because it was an intimidation tactic. He hoped whoever was on the other side of the camera, likely the government, would get a taste of his power. The numeral blended with the air and took control of the air pressure. From the perspective of whoever was watching from the other side, they'd see the lens crack, then the camera went completely dead. It was certainly scary enough for any city official watching the feed, but what would someone who wasn't with the city make of it?

After the destruction of the camera, Iris and Unknown continued on their silent walk. Neither of them exchanged a word, and none of the cameras were touched. They walked back into their homes and went into an alleyway, away from the view of any possible camera. Then they did what any sane couple would do. Jump through a vent, go to their apartment, lie down on the same bed, and go to sleep.

The Omen of Death The Omen of Death

(We're currently preparing for a timeskip to morning, so you can do one of two things. You can either have your characters go to sleep, or you can just write a post summing up the rest of the night for them. No more interaction/hints until morning in-IC time. But then again, there's enough information floating about for a team as smart as Vietnam to find something out.)

Rachel sighed, "Fine, if you want to come along with me you can. But go straight to sleep, okay?"

She walked to her apartment, left the door open, and crawled into bed, tired from the day's activities.

(I will sum up the rest of the night)

Namgung was about to make her way over, when a camera caught something... It was the two people again, and then two others in frame. She saw the two she was supposed to be tracking, go into a house with a clear address, jackpot. But then something out of the ordinary was going on... One of the hooded figures, raised a finger to the camera, as if he knew she was watching, and caused a numeral to appear, which intrigued Namgung, an important detail.

Then suddenly the screen of it began to crack, and then finally the camera died... Well, that was quite intriguing, another important detail, she was definitely going to remember that...

So finally with that, she saw the time and groaned, Vítězslav sometimes seemed to forget he needed less sleep than others, so Namgung reluctantly made her way to their base of operations.

It was an abandoned warehouse in a more empty part of town, they had a discreet method of going in so it remained anonymous, and the place was protected from being used again by the public, but it always maintained it's presence of appearing like it was abandoned, when she made it there she was greeted with the usual sight, hyper advanced desktops near the back, with all sorts of weapons, chemicals (the kinds used to make explosives, something else nefarious secret, and most interestingly only now brought in, the ingredients used for plastination), explosives themselves, and then Vítězslav seemingly there waiting for her.

"Can't you remember that you operate on a different sleeping schedule than the rest of the world?"

Vítězslav nodded his head courteously, and stated. "My apologies, it's just that the recent events that have transpired have been most intriguing. So what did you find?"

"So, the two went northeast, did some random crap, and ended up going into an apartment addressed clearly, 2551 Sett Street, so basically nearby where you were... However, something of interest happened, two people, hooded who appeared to be a man and woman, walked by as well, then suddenly as if the man knew I was watching, he pointed a finger up to the camera, and suddenly the camera cracked, and finally died. Most interesting fact is that before the camera died, a small faint number appeared over the man's finger." With that Vítězslav had that certain twinkle in his eyes, and grew a pleasant smile. She knew that meant he knew something about it.

"My thought, is that the man can control numbers and ve-" She was then interrupted by Vítězslav who figured as much already.

"Numbers and vectors, yes I have been ahead of you on that." Which was followed by Namgung rolling her eyes, at the fact that he was always steps ahead of her. "As you always are."

"Well, Namgung isn't that an intriguing stroke of luck..." Namgung then rose an eyebrow. "How so...?" "Well, let me run you down the gist of everything."

With that Vítězslav gave Namgung an overview of everything he knew so far.

...

"Ok, then so how does that tie in with what happened?"

"Well think about it Namgung, you have quite the impressive brain as well, why would that experiment eliminate a camera like that?"

"Maybe to send a message? It was obvious he knew SOMEONE was watching him, so maybe he was trying to send a message of some kind?"

"You definitely have some of it figured out, but for the sake of clarity and time, I will tell you my thought, so it was obvious that when I saw that experiment, that he is cocky, and arrogant. Probably due to the fact that he has excelled at every task 'KISS' has had him do without failure. He probably wanted to show a display of strength, to basically say not to mess with him... But there is probably more too it than that. It wouldn't make sense if he were to just eliminate a camera if he didn't have a gut feeling he was being watched at that moment, no one would see his capabilities if that were the case, it would just look like a camera going out. Aside from using it to send a message, he probably also meant to hide something important, conceal something essential... I believe that may be something having to do with where 'KISS' is located, because if you think about it, just about all the major events presented, were related to Sett Street, so it would be a short walk over there. So I think by that, he just narrowed my search down to simply areas around or at Sett Street itself."

"Yeah, that all makes sense now... You just cut this search down to something quick. What now?"

"Well, now tomorrow, I will need you to fix this smartwatch that belongs to 'KISS' and hack into it, see what's inside of it and what we can find out about this laboratory. From there I will let you know what we will do moving forward. Until then, good night you deserve the rest." Vítězslav then proceeded to hand Namgung the broken smartwatch, and began walking off, to head back to his apartment. Namgung put the smartwatch in her pocket, and headed back to her apartment.

Namgung put on pajamas, stored the smartwatch in a safe place and passed out in bed to prepare for the next day.

Vítězslav did similar, but due to his light sleeping habits woke up about 3 hours later, refreshed and prepared for the next day thinking and pondering everything that happened as he usually somewhat did. His mind was racing with too many possibilities to read a book at the moment.

A New Day
Time: 7:00 AM - 9:15 AM
The city was at rest, at least, in the early morning hours. Rush hour had passed, since that was at 6:15 in the morning to 7:15. Most people were just getting up and/or getting ready for school, but then again not everyone in Empire City went to school. Most were dealing with important business and the like, and official heroes should probably heading to the HQ.

The most notable part about today was that the after-storm smell filled the entire city. There was rain last night, and that is what made the city all the more musty and dank. This is a new day, after all. It felt like all the damage that happened last night was unheard of, and was reverted. Someone cleaned it.

The steady rise and fall of Eko's breathing throughout the night was finally interrupted in the early morning by a long, deep inhalation. He slowly opened his eyes, quietly attempting to make sense of a sideways, unfamiliar room as his long breath came out slowly. He shot up after a moment, eyes wide through the hair dangling in front of his face, before softening as memories from yesterday finally registered the room as a familiar one. He reached up, parting his hair out of habit, only for the curtain of strands to fall right back into place, covering one of them in its usual fashion.

The leakage of dreams his powers had caused at the beginning of his rest had subsided shortly before his awakening, leaving the room around him entirely unchanged. Shuffling off the linens surrounding him, Eko immediately groped about for his phone, eventually finding it on the floor beneath him; seemingly, the item had fallen from his pocket during his light movements over the course of the night.

Squeezing his eyes shut a few times, Eko approached the window, pressing his face against the glass again as he acquired a proper view of the skyline during the day. With a bright sky, and the sun just barely poking over the sharp edges of the buildings beyond the hospital, Empire City seemed a little less intimidating than it did during Eko's initial venture within the city limits. For the first time since arriving, Eko felt truly calm; it was a strange sensation, one caused by the utter silence of the isolated hospital room, and the natural light leaking in through the wide windows at the end.

Slowly, he turned towards Vicky's bed, briefly realizing that he had not done so much as checked to see whether or not she was awake, or even there, let alone said hello to her.

Suzume Mori & Briana Skullbash

Suzume waked little before sunrise to light up both fire under her cauldron and where she cleaned water. After being sure that fire stayed lit she lifted big bucket where she was going to get water from river, as she moved where she collected water she saw young girl at shore. Suzume quickly sprinted to girl, leaving bucket where she had spotted girl, she checked pulse.
"You are still alive?"
Suzume looked below girl and spotted that she had sewer dirt on her.
"You must be been at my shore when there was still raining. I must get you inside."
Suzume taked hold of girl's left side, as she noticed that clearly her right forearm was broken and there was bad burns around her body.
"You are heavy."
Suzume slowly dragged girl to inside to bed, where she stripped her off from wet clothes. After getting clothes off she immediately taked hold of girl's arm and forehead, where was open wound and healed with her powers. She could hear how bones at girl's forearm snapped back to their places. Suzume smiled, good thing that girl was unconscious as from before knowledge she knew that that snap hurted lot. After being sure that girl didn't have more major wounds that was open, Suzume go to get water so she could start making burn salves. Her healing wasn't strong enough to cure burns, and after hearing how hard her breathing was, she was sure that there was damages at girl's lungs.

Hanah waked to Rachel's voice, first she startled from her voice and wondered where Fayette was, when she remembered that this wasn't their room or motor home. Then she walked to kitchen where she saw Rachel cooking, she turned red from sight.

"You sure you're alright? Maybe you just haven't eaten or anything for a while," gestured Rachel as she quickly pointed to the food. She was getting slightly awkward vibes from the girl at this point, especially with the stammering and such. Rachel was feeling a bit awkward herself in this situation as well; she was a heterosexual female as far as she knew, so,

Why was she even questioning her sexuality now?! Rachel frantically rubbed her head to shoo away the thought before sitting down on the couch.
"I never got your name. I'm Rachel, nice to meet you."

The trio woke up when the sunlight hit them. They all made a loud yawn before getting off of bed. Norm noticed a sticky note by the cabinet, and so he takes the note and reads it.

Breakfast is already at the dining room. Please take care.

Norm sighed, and the three went downstairs to the dining room where food is already at the table. After taking their breakfast and prepping themselves, they went out of the house and head towards school.

Vicky woke up slowly with a contented stretch. She was surprisingly well rested, considering the absolutely miserable day she'd had. She stayed put for a long moment, just taking in the morning in a way she hadn't bothered to in a while, before rolling out of bed and starting her day.

It was a bright morning, devoid of the oppressive storm clouds from the previous night even as the smell of rain permeated the room. Good, that was enough to last her a lifetime and then some. A quick glance around revealed Eko was already up, standing by the window again and watching her. Smiling slightly she waved minutely, not wanting to break the peaceful silence just yet. She shuffled over to the cabinet, pulling her now dry clothes off the top and stuffing the coat and jacket back into the bag. She tied to the sweater around her waist, just to have it, then went to stand by the window next to Eko.

"I'm gonna go check out. Once I'm ready to go you're comin with me," she said suddenly. Her voice was soft, but her tone brooked no argument. "Think about what you might need and we can go shopping once we leave."

Another moment of silence as she soaked in the sunshine, then she turned on heel and was out the door with an energy unfitting of a recently post surgery patient. The doctors must have really done a great job. She suspected the speedy and competent treaty was courtesy of Zephyr. She'd remember to thank if she ever saw him again. Either way, she was feeling good as new, even with the still healing incisions across her abdomen, which was why she was running down the hall much too fast for a medical ward. Really, where were all the nurses and orderlies, shouldn't there be someone to stop her from leaving her room?

When she reached the lobby there was a different receptionist on duty, but the one from the night before was still there, helping to straighten things out from when they were shoved aside the night before.

She slowed to a stop as she reached the counter and knocked lightly on the counter,
"Hey, when can a doctor come by to approve me for check out?"

Taken aback by her sudden appearance, the receptionist didn't seem to know how to react. Luckily, the woman from the night before must have seen Vicky harassing the poor guy and came up to deal with the situation.

"I'll send a doctor by with the paperwork in a few minutes." The woman was well adjusted, somewhat used to the strange occurrences that made up daily life in Empire City. Someone sent by a hero was bound to have powers of their own, and Vicky's quick recovery told the receptionist it was better just to roll with it.

Satisfied with the answer, Vicky smiled brightly at her and reentered her room, shuffling through for any of her belongings she might be missing as she packed.

As Vicky awoke, Eko managed a slight smile her way, offering no more than a quiet nod at her parting words. As the door closed behind her, Eko glanced throughout the hospital room, raising a hand to rub at his nose as he sniffled. It was strange just how expansive and clean such places were in a large city like Empire; that isn't to say that the smaller city he lived in didn't have a nice hospital, but a place like this was on an entirely different level. Perhaps it was something of a requirement, considering just how much went on here.

Eko's wandering eye eventually swept down to his (now even more wrinkled) clothes, prompting a bit of a sigh as he noticed just how distressed they had become. He glanced back up at the door, staring at it for a few moments, as if afraid that a nurse or a doctor would come barging in out of nowhere, before slowly starting towards his backpack, pulling it away from the chairs and sitting down on the floor.

Quickly unzipping the main pouch, Eko pushed through the various clothes within, before pulling out a large shirt, clearly made for someone several sizes larger than himself. He smiled lightly at the picture upon it; the iconic bomb menu item from the now-ancient videogame Busterknight: Bomb-Voyage. Perhaps that would be a good way to pass the time after getting dressed, Eko figured, briefly taking the time to locate a wall outlet before continuing to dig through his bag. After assembling the rest of the day's clothing choices--a set of khaki shorts that would barely be visible below the gown-like shirt, a new set of socks, simple sneakers, and appropriate undergarments, he set his sights on one of the smaller side-compartments, opening it and pulling out his phone charger.

Eko quickly dressed himself, pulling on his pants and shuffling into his oversized shirt with a bit of fumbling effort thanks to the size of the item. After pulling his long hair through the top, and pushing it about in order to ensure it had all come through, Eko picked up his phone charge and hobbled on his knees to the outlet, plugging in his phone and slumping against the wall with his legs crossed. He quickly swiped across the lock screen and performed the zig-zag unlock pattern without so much as a thought, before swiping to his treasure-trove of games.

Seeing as he already had the shirt on, the choice was obviously between emulating the original Busterknight, or playing the remastered version that was actually intended for a phone port. After staring at the screen with a frown for several moments, Eko picked the original, slumping further against the wall with comfortable happiness as the escalating eight-bit chimes of the opening theme rang through the open air of the room.

His playtime before Vicky's return was ultimately rather short, only lasting ten or so minutes. He glanced up at her as she reappeared, pausing the game and pocketing his phone as he stood, watching her pick through her belongings for several moments, before figuring he should probably do the same, if they were preparing to leave.

"I don't need anything," he said quietly, likely in response to her earlier question, as he stuffed yesterday's clothes into his bag and zipped it closed.

Dinning Darling
Dine and Dash
From the looks of it, Candy was going to win. And from that, a frown almost formed in place of the smile. She didn't think their night of fun would end this fast. However, she was getting to her limits and the liquor in her body was startling to get upset. She knew that she would throw up and lose if this kept going.

That's when a surprise came to her in the form of the dropping glass and the sudden kiss. Candy's eyes widen and her cheeks went pink. The cute boy soon left and vanished out of the bar but his face burned into her eyes. A smile started to grow on the singers face, one of twisted intent.
"Mhhh~ What a charming man, and a taste that can't be forgotten." The look of love came to her eyes, she wanted that man all to herself and she knew how to do it.

Though the Darling didn't count for one thing, when the liquor in her body finally hit her and made her legs feel weak. She fell onto the floor with a thud and passed out, snoring while the crowd started to disband and leave as the musician was out. The bartender sighed and picked her up, moving through a door and taking her to a room on the top of the club. He threw her on the bed and went back to continuing with the remaining patrons.

The image was forever entrained in the girls mind though and her smile stayed until the next day. She had found the man and sweet dreams of blood and love filled her mind. Her hunger growing with every passing thought.

Eryn was in the backseat of his father's car who was currently driving him to school. He was laying across the two seats on his back while fiddling with various pieces of paper and pens. He was identifying the paper and ink type that seemed most likely to have been used for the note found in the esper girl's mouth. It had taken him a while to get to these two particular options, evident from the fact that the whole rear of the car was now a mess of writing equipment. He would have done this last night, but alas, he involuntarily fell asleep before he could. Night-operations would have to be rethought to keep his body clock in shape.

Now that he had gotten a general "feel" for the paper and ink types used in the note, he was now telekinetically floating the note in front of him, concentrating on it. He was now attempting to lift anything that WASN'T the ink and paper off of the note..i.e blood and moisture. Hopefully this would yield some helpful results.

( D duegxybus would he have any success?)

"Doctor Reston, we've just found out that you've been working behind our backs. Who is the Unknown Numerals project, and why is it in our lab here?"

A scientist stood behind Marcus with a clipboard in his hand. Marcus turned around in his chair, his eyes widening as soon as he saw the backside of the clipboard. It was a white clipboard. The only white clipboard in the facility. "Give that back."

"Unfortunately, we're going to have to seize control at this hour, Doctor Reston. This is the last time anyone will hear from you again. We're petitioning to fire you for your actions. Think about what you've done, and then you can come clean to us. If not, then we'll just..."

"Your hands are tied. Unknown Numerals is my independent project handed down from my father, not affiliated with KISS. The resources of KISS are under my disposal, so I am allowed to use them free of charge."

Unknown Numerals

Iris Levin
"H-Hello?" Iris sat up and rubbed her eyes. The room was still dark, despite it being light out. It took a moment for Iris's eyes to adjust to the darkness when she turned on her side to see a face staring at her. Shaggy white hair.

"Rise and shine. We're going to KISS today. And by that, I mean I'm going to KISS today."
"Kiss who...?"
"Kendrickson Institution of Scientific Study."

Unknown stepped back a little bit, giving Iris room to swing her legs over the side of the bed and take a second to get oriented with her surroundings. Iris yawned as she stood, grabbing her coat and putting it over her nightshirt. "What should I do..."

"Stay here. I have work to do." He put on his hood and walked out of the door.

The experiment walked through the streets until he finally found the lab he was looking for. He raised his hand and tapped the door. It immediately flew off of its hinges, crashing into the wall with enough force to break through it before falling down several stories. The experiment was looking directly at a scared Marcus Reston with a bit of a smile on his face.

"Yo."

"WHAT THE HELL? WAS THAT?! YOU JUST TOUCHED THE DOOR AND-"

The experiment accelerated forwards on his feet, grabbing the scientist by the face and lifting him in the air. Marcus pulled out his gun and pointed it at the experiment. "My dad's not gonna be happy. Drop the man, or I'll shoot you."

"You of all people would know that bullets function in a far too straightforward manner for any hope of penetrating the numerals. I'm going to kill the scientist, and you're going to give me all of your research. All of it." Unknown tensed his fingers. The scientist's face was immediately surrounded by numbers, and his face turned bright red, then purple. Without a sound, he went limp, and fell to the ground.

"Damn you!" Marcus fired three bullets off to the experiment's direction, only to have them bounce off like rubber bullets bounce off of concrete. "You belong to us, remember? Work with us here and we'll help you achieve-"

"Immortality. I know. But you know very well that I can do that on my own, without your help. What's the point of being at the top if you've only been pushed there through the help of some meddling doctors? I'll get there on my own, and you'll have no say in what I do." The experiment held out his hand and a powerful wave of air pressure slashed through the glass behind the doctor, exposing everyone to the coldness of the laboratory room. This process in itself was rather loud, and made a weird hissing noise that could be heard from many locations around the Southern District.

Eryn sat up and looked closer at the note. What the hell was this message supposed to accomplish? What was the damn point of it? To be a dick, is that what? Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if that was the only reason. And what the shit was all this stuff about borrowing powers and cutting open jaws?! Is it a thing that random people are able to just borrow powers from espers laying half dead? Heck, Eryn wouldn't know BECAUSE APPARANTLY HE'S NOT AN ESPER AND WHAT THE FUCK THESE REVELATIONS WERE GIVING HIM AN EXISTENTIAL CRISIS! AND WHAT WAS ALL THIS ABOUT CUTTING OPEN JAWS TO GET TO THE NOTE?! DID THE SURGEONS ACTUALLY DO THAT? WHAT MADE THEM THINK THERE WAS SOMETHING TO BE FOUND IN THERE???????!?!?!

Well, at least there were things to be learnt from this. The White haired guy is called the experiment. The girl he suspected to be an esper was in fact an esper. Apparantly her powers could be borrowed too. The experiment had gone to the trouble of shoving this note in her mouth in such a manner that normally you'd need to cut open the jaw. And the guy apparantly did this after shockwaving the street to rubble, taking her out of the rubble, putting the note in, then putting her under the rubble again. Got it.

Anyway.

The car had arrived at school, and Eryn stepped out to face this daily hell. At least it was somewhat bearable ever since he learnt to properly control his invisibility. He'd also need to check on the esper later on, so he kept that in mind as he walked in.
