He was trying his best but the longer the ambulance took the worse he was getting and by the time they finally arrived he was laying on the floor breathing shallow and passed out.

carmen smiled some and held onto him, helping him to sit down in the bed with herwhile she squished to the side and lifted their son up; passing him over. “Jacob Hunnam? I think that works.” She murmured.

Max quickly rushed to the door when she heard the doorbell "The kitchen please help!" She yelled getting them rushed inside hoping they could save her husband

Charlie smiled widely looking at the baby in his arms tears immediately flowing down his face "Our son....he is perfect." He whispered to her

Carmen smiled and leaned her head against his shoulder watching their littke boy as well. “He better be, took three days to get here the little nugget.... took his time just like his daddy.” She murmured noticing Jane taking a few pictures for them of the three of them together.

They managed to have him stabilised fairly quickly before taking him straight to the ambulance by which point Lana had gotten curious about the noises and made her way to the kitchen. “Mommy where’s daddy going?” She asked her frowning some.

Charlie chuckled some and kissed the top of her head gently "He is gonna be perfect." He murmured bouncing him lightly when he started to fuss

Max looked at Lana and frowned some "Daddy has to see the doctor baby, I'm gonna get Uncle Norman to watch Iris okay? Do you want to come with me?" She asked softly not wanting to leave her without one of her parents there

Carmen smiled tiredly and just held onto Charlie still, worried about him and a little nervous to let him out of her sight yet. “Me and him are being discharged today, so we gotta go home tonight but we will come see you soon as we can.” She promised and kept a hold on him.

Lana just nodded and cling to her. “I don’t want the mean lady to tell me to be mean to iris again.” She told her as they heard the doors slam and the sirens start up as they took him to the hospital.

Max held her daughter close shaking her head some "We won't let her okay? Go get dressed and let me call Uncle Norman." She murmured

Charlie smiled some and gave a small nod "I'm ready to go home they said if I make it through the week I'll be good." He murmured kissing her gently

Lana stayed quiet for the rest of the time until they got to the hospital and she held onto her, looking around and thinking they would see her Dad waiting to be picked up already, not quite realising how bad he had got until they asked about him and the nurse took one look at Lana before looking back at Max, "If you both come with me." She told them gently, taking them to a quiet waiting room, having Lana wait inside while she spoke to Max, "So the information that I have for you is that he was stable the whole way here but as they were beinging him in, he coded again, his abdominal aorta ruptured, he's in surgery right now but this has a 30% chance of success." She explained to her, reading off the chart in her hands.

Carmen smiled some but tensed up when she heard his words "What do you mean if you make it through the week? What are they worried about?" She asked him quietly, sitting up a bit more to look at him, starting to worry more about him again

Charlie gave a small shrug and sighed softly "I think they're worried about my heart, and breathing." He murmured kissing her gently "Don't worry babe, I'll be okay."

Max drove them to the hospital and frowned taking deep breaths as the nurse took them to a quieter waiting room "Stay here Lana okay?" She said softly moving to follow the nurse letting tears fall as she explained to her what was happening "Oh my god.....no...please save him."

She frowned as she felt her stomach drop a bit but nodded and just stayed close, holding onto him carefully while Jake kept watching his Dad and Carmen's mind was racing with worry for him still.

"They are doing everything they can which is why you weren't consulted about the surgery beforehand but it likely started the internal bleeding this morning." She explained to her, getting her some water before leaving her to privacy with her daughter.

Charlie smiled happily and made silly faces at Jacob before he started screaming "Uh oh looks like daddy might have scared him."

Max gave a small nod and sighed heavily sipping her water sitting with Lana "Daddy is gonna be okay baby, I promise."

Lana just nodded and held onto her, watching videos on her tablet to keep her busy until she fell asleep from being up all night playing on her nintendo. It wasn't long after that when another nurse came to collect Max and give her an update.

Carmen shook her head some, "I think he's probably hungry." She mumbled "He's like his mommy in that way... Gets super hangry." She mumbled, lifting him into her arms and pulled her top up to feed him, leaning into Charlie a little still, "God his room isn't even fnished." She mumbled, rubbing at her face some with her free hand.

Max got Lana comfortably situated in the chairs beforr she followed the nurse "What happened? Is he okay?" She murmured biting at her nails some

Charlie smiled some and kissed her gently "Don't worry about it. We have a crib don't we? Thats what we really need." He murmured

"He pulled through, it's still very touch and go but for now he is stable, your daughter can go see him given the circumstances but he isn't looking so good... He's on a lot of mechanical support but he will be waking up shortly and he whould be able to talk." She explained.

Carmen frowned some shaking her head "I know but... Oh forget it." She muttered, not about to unload all of her bagage on him right this minute... at least not with his mom in the room. She stayed in the bed with him another hour before they came to make him go back to his room and she kissed him goodbye, letting him have a couple minutes with Jacob before he had to go

Max gave a small nod and sighed heavily "Thank you so much." She murmured before picking Lana up and carrying her to the room letting a few tears fall when she saw Jeff.

Charlie sighed heavily when it was time for him to go "I love you babe, I'll see you later." He murmured kissing her lovingly and saying goodbye to Jake.

She took their son back into her arms and watched his nurse take him back to his room frowning some as she looked over at Jane about to start crying, "I don't think I'm gonna relax until he's home and in the clear." She whimpered quietly

Jeff was starting to come around a little later on for the second time since the surgery and just looked over at Max frowning some, silently reaching for her hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. "You okay?" He mumbled

Jane gave a heavy sigh and hugged her tight "Its okay sweetheart, he'll be okay I swear." She murmured to her

Max looked at him and squeezed his hand gently giving a small nod "Yes I'm okay." She murmured softly

He frowned some and just squeezed again "Mmm.... I married a bad liar." He mumbled, "Talk to me...I don't think I can... respond much but just... talk to me." He mumbled, not wznting to say it out loud but he was scared this time and it just felt like he couldn't do anything right to keep himself safe.

Carmen just nodded and thanked her for the photos before laying down to get some sleep

Max looked at him and let a few tears fall before she broke down "I'm so scared Jeff...scared we might loose you....this is all my fault. Had I just talked to you about her...we could have figured it out sooner." She whimpered

He frowned some and gently tugged on her to come a little closer. "This isn't... your fault." He told her seriously, making her look at him. "I'm scared too... I don't know how... much more I can fight but... I can't keep this up." He grunted a bit, glancing over at Lana.

Max nodded softly as she watched him holding onto him the best she could "I know....I don't know what I'm going to do without you Jeff....I can't do this without you."

He frowned some "I'm not going yet.... but I gotta... be a lot... more careful." He mumbled starting to fall asleep again right as Lana was waking up and smiled at his little girl a little "Good nap?" He asked her quietly, frowning when she started looking scared. "Hey... it's alright." He mumbled.

Max moved some so Lana could sit with him and quickly wiped her eyes smiling softly

Lana frowned looking at Jeff with scared eyes "Daddy? Are you going to heaven with mommy?" She whimpered

He shook his head a little and gently moved over so she could sit next to him. “Not if I have any say.... daddy’s heart isn’t working very well but they’re trying real hard to make me better.” He explained to her before he fell asleep again and Lana looked over at max, moving to hold onto her tightly. “Is this because I’ve been making you and daddy upset?” She asked her scared.

Max pulled Lana into her lap and held her close rubbing her back comfortingly "No baby no, its not your fault at all." She murmured kissing the side of her head repeatedly "We love you very much, its going to be okay."

She frowned and shook her head. “It’s not fair.” She mumbled to her. “I don’t want daddy to die.” She told her and just held onto her tightly while she calmed down some.
