Dice Heart of the Mountain [WoD]

I'll tell you guys this. You guys can put together that whatever he's pouring isn't a drink. It's some kinda syrup or something. Maybe food coloring or flavoring or something. Don't know what it is though.

Another Update, Umbrie and Karl are both going to be busy until around Wednesday, so it's mostly going to be focused on you two. I have made plans for this, and will continue to do so. Trying to move more people into the RP as well.

Yeah, for now I'm going to be kinda dependent on you doing that. I just think everyone in general should try to take their time and make longer posts in general. It does feel a bit rushed sometimes, but I like it overall.

im never sure how much to write in situations like this xD I don't want to do too much and accidently skip a role or say something that the GM should decide or the like. It's tricky :3

I mean, if it's anything that dosen't require effort or has a risk, then there's no roll, and since we're on a forum, feel free to add things even though I'm the GM. I normally allow that even in my normal games.

If you want to add something going on, go ahead and do it. Feel free to add stuff if it helps you play out the scene, and unless I directly say "No, that makes no sense." then it's fine. If you need to make a roll, I'll let you know after or before you post, that's when rolls are made. Posts can be edited and all that.

Example: Selene decided to randomly pull out shots and give you guys drinks. She's actively setting up stuff for her to do. I mean, it's her introduction so that's not the best example, but it's kinda close. I mean I could have said to Selene "You start with a tray of drinks", but she did that without asking me and it worked great.

Another example, if you just want to drive a car down the street, you don't need to make a drive roll or have the driving skill (unless you're like under 16 or something where you wouldn't have that basic knowledge, then you might need a roll just to avoid hitting something when you back up). When would you use Drive then? In a car chase or if you need to really do something important while driving.

It's fine. I blame myself for not explaining you can go in any order. In Combat is the only time there has to be an order. In fact actually when I played WoD at my club, we didn't even use an order that time...everyone just shouted what they were doing and it just all resolved in chunks of time, it was very fluid and chaotic, but it was a back alley brawl and whatnot. I thought it was a good move, but it was hard to follow.

Kreigar is pretty much "shadowing" James

wits(2) + stealth(2) - 2 = +2

So, you fail, probably getting too close to him while moving around the rows of slot machines. I made a secret roll for James, so you'll see what happens in the next post.

You don't remember this guy's name, but you've seen him around the office. He talks about your Editor a lot and handles things for her when she's not around. A lot of people around the office started rumors that he's her boyfriend or personal assistant or maybe a mix of both! He dosen't come in every day, only a few times a week, and you've hardly ever been this close to him before.

Just realised about an hour after that I'm telling a lie and should roll for that. Its 3:30 AM here so I'm going to take a guess and go Manipulation + subterfuge

[dice]12737[/dice]

Uh, Alright guys...I was gonna say that you don't need to roll (because this is PvP), unless @ExtraWhiteRice actually wants to try to see if you're lying. In this case though, Caeda gets 3 successes and Johnny gets 2. It's a pretty good lie.

Persuasion works in this case because you're kinda just talking to him rather than lying directly.

Negotiation Intent: Find out why Burns has stopped his deals with Julia, and make him hand over the Casino. - Hopefully diplomatically.

Ok, so this is a pretty major intent. It'll be 5 Doors. However, you're Starting in Good standing with him because you're wearing formal clothes and addressed him with confidence. Plus, he's interested in the deal.

This means you need to make 5 successful rolls over time to convince him of this, and you can do that with any method you choose. The rolls can be anything from helping him out to beating him up, anything to advance your goal.

The rolls will be part of the conversation and be disbursed out, so don't roll them all at once. You could even get away without finishing them all and come back to him later.

Based on the rules though, you're only allowed to make one roll for the entire duration (1 day) of your conversation based on your current standing, so by definition you'll have to come back tomorrow. Try to start off a good note first though. Reply as normal and you can make your roll whenever on you wish to emphasize, but you only get one.

It seems weird, but this means you'll have to take your time and actually negotiate over a few days. More realistic than "Give it to me" and he just hands over his company in a matter of minutes.

Doors

Yay! my code test worked! I'll be using that in the IC thread to track it.

Doors are kinda like those things from Ace Attorney or some dating sim game, I guess.

It goes with the metaphor of "Opening Doors" and it calls intimidation "Breaking down Doors" which is super clever.

Just to explain the result, when you get 0 dice...you get to roll a Chance Die where you need a 10. So Johnny passes.

Not only that, but I'm giving Johnny a beat for overcoming the drink. It wasn't a normal drink as you probably realized (-3 is way over a penalty for a normal drink), so that's why it's worth a beat. Because this falls under his Fortune Virtue, I'm also going to fully restore Johnny's Willpower as per the rule. I mean for god's sakes he won with a Luck Die!

Willpower: 2/2

Johnny Beats: 2/5

Unfortunately for Caeda, you got a Critical Failure. You are now Drunk for the rest of the afternoon. You'll get a beat once you overcome it, but for now you'll be taking some penalties. On the bright side, the pain you take will be dulled.

[−2 Speed, −3 to combat rolls (including Defense and Perception). Ignore wound penalties.]
