~Basic Combat 101~

Sam Polaris

Sam Polaris eyed the cage nervously, according to his teacher, who he still hadn't learned the name to given that he may or may not have been listening as it was spoken, he was supposed to be paired with some Emma person. He didn't know what she looked like, or how he could find her, as most of the students were just milling around, mostly watching the few groups that had already began fighting.

In front of him, in a heavy iron cage, stood an angry looking beast of impressive size. It wasn't a creature Sam recognized, and it certainly wasn't a natural denizen of earth. He looked around at his classmates; he didn't even have a weapon, let a lone a partner. He stood back from the cage as the beast came slightly too close for comfort as at paced the outside of its cage, unsure as to what do do. Even if he did have a weapon, and even if he could find his partner, Sam didn't think he could do much about the creature. I mean, sure he could probably warp around a lot, maybe get in a few strikes, but this creature didn't look like it would go down to
a few strikes, in fact, Sam thought with a growing feeling of panic, it didn't look like it would go down to anything.

Sam bit his lip nervously, internally fighting back the urge to leave, to just teleport out and say he had missed them leaving or something. Nobody would notice him leaving, he suspected, they were all to focused on the fights going on. But he couldn't. He hadn't gone this far just to run away at the first hurdle. But what could he do?

Sam stood on the dry grass, contemplating his options, and waiting for an obvious answer to come.

(I'm not really sure what to do, given that my partner doesn't seem to be playing. I hope I got stuff right, also, I kind of skipped over what happened on Saturday evening and Sunday, lets just say he just wondered around for a bit more.)

~Professor Giovia Eriwind~

Giovia watched the battle unfold between Geno and the monster, not even stepping in when the boy seemed to be in trouble. She remained perfectly calm. . .she could already feel that he was going to win. And even if he did get himself into major trouble, what could Giovia do? Distract the creature while Geno attacked from behind. That was about it.

Giovia would be lying if she said that she wasn't impressed with the boy's fighting. He seemed to be pretty skilled, despite this being his first year at Hawthorne. She almost wondered if he had had any previous training with this sort of combat. . .but how could he? He couldn't have possibly learned all of this on his own. . .though Giovia had heard great things about this student. She watched him in amusement, smiling at his creative and effective techniques as he executed them. He was talented, there was no doubt about that. Giovia almost wondered if he could be the one that she and all of the other professors, Kinya included, had been looking for. It was definitely a possibility, but this was only the first time Giovia had seen him fight. She'd need to investigate him further. . .learn more about him.

".. Do I have to kill it?"

Giovia, her expression gentle, shook her head, saying, "No, Geno, you did very well."

Personally, Giovia didn't agree with the whole 'capture monsters just to kill them' ordeal, even if they were extremely dangerous. They were still creatures, even if they were. . .angry. The woman gave Geno a soft smile, and said, "A victory is not necessarily defined by whether or not you kill your opponent. . ."

The professor approached the creature, placing a hand on its side as she knelt down. She closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. As she did, the creature's wounds seemingly evaporated into a thin stream of what appeared to be red smoke, travelling up through the professor's nose, as if she were inhaling it. Then, the woman parted her lips, and gently exhaled. A swirling line of white steam traveled out with her breath, dancing upon the creature's newly healed form.

The woman silently sent the creature back off into the forest. It seemed to be in a dreamlike, sedated state. It didn't charge, attack, or roar. It simply left, as if nothing had happened. Giovia rose, facing Geno again. She opened her eyes, and smiled.

". . .but whether or not you give them life."

~Basic Combat 101~

--------------------------------------------- Ambrogino Friar ---------------------------------------------

"No, Geno, you did very well." The words gave him not only a feeling of relief, but also one of disappointment. It surprised him to find out that he wanted to kill the creature. Being in power like this.. It felt great. He could close his hand now, and the only thing remaining of things head would look like swiss cheese. He almost did, too. He was very close, so close that the monster must've felt small stings all around his head, before Geno stopped himself. He picked a moment when no one was looking, and gave himself a hard punch to the side of his face. Not a half arsed punch either, he almost knocked himself out. As his head spun, he forced himself to not think in those psychopathic ways. He could never become like that. He was already worried about his sanity, he didn't need this. Even if he had to beat it out of himself.

Now he had another pretty bruise to show off with. In retrospective, he probably shouldn't have done that. A big ass bruise in his face was a bit overkill. "A victory is not necessarily defined by whether or not you kill your opponent..." She started approaching the monster. He had confidence in the teachers though, and expected that she knew what she was doing, so he let the metal completely encasing the monster disappear. For a moment, it looked like black leaves in the wind. He liked the effect, but he almost never made that much metal, so he was almost as surprised every time. She kneeled down next to the creature.

Her ability looked pretty cool, he had to admit. She even managed to fix every one of those 60-100 spike holes covering it's leg. He could understand why she was a teacher. An ability like that must be invaluable at a place like this. The creature ran off, and Geno wasn't sure what to believe. He almost expected to hear... Godamnit, it's this thing with names again... Xavier scream over the entire field in fury over her letting it go. Giovia stood up and smiled at him. He didn't have the energy to return the smile, but looked at her with tired eyes. "... But whether or not you give them life."

So very cheesy, but he wasn't exactly in the mood to object. He blinked a couple times, and offered her a short smile. "I've seen my own truths, and whether or not I give them life will never matter to me." He said, before falling backwards into the grass again. He knew how poorly he'd explained his mindset on being merciful against opponents, but he didn't have the energy to explain it better. Encasing the monster in the metal was overkill, and it had really depleted all of his energy reserves. He didn't like this new him he'd discovered either. A new, bloodthirsty, and jealous side of himself. Was he going insane? "... Maybe.." He thought, before passing out.

~Basic Healing and Protection 101~

Mars smiled at his partners enthusiasm. If there was one thing she had plenty of, it was that. He definitely believed she could become much better, but there was a lot of work to be done if that was the case. She needed to be conditioned for battle, even if she wouldn't be taking the front lines anymore. Furthermore, practice would be needed in order to come up with other ways to utilize her powers. It wasn't something he could assist her with much as her ability was very unique to him, but there had to be ways to apply it to protection.

"I'll mention it to Giovia after class. Mars, instead of going to Healing and Protection tomorrow, come to my class. And Kahra, you go to Healing and Protection instead, alright?"

Mars slipped his hand out of Kahra's grasp and nodded, wincing as his palm stung from the pressure she'd put on it. Luckily it had only been a day until he'd been able to switch, so he wouldn't need to catch up on some assignment he'd missed. He also found it likely that he'd get along with the other students in Xavier's class since they likely had a similar interest in combat over protection. Even though his time there was short, he'd already guessed that he wouldn't have got along with some of the people in Healing and Protection. There was Blake who he obviously wasn't on best terms with, and there was also that pink haired timid girl who'd been in the charity date auction who he assumed would be too kind. Oh yeah, I'm not going to be in the same first class with Lyra anymore... He knocked on the side of his head with his knuckles. It wasn't that big of a deal, so why did he even care about that? Maybe that's best until I figure out more about these feelings.

Mars ran his hand through his hair as he turned toward Kahra. "Well, for now, why don't we observe how others are doing? Who knows? Even if their powers are drastically different, you may get a few ideas in your head." He looked around to see Lyra and her partner at the top of a pillar, seemingly chatting. She seemed to be doing fine at the moment and had previous experience, so he wasn't worried. As his eyes darted around, he caught the end of what seemed to be Geno's fight. He'd encased the creature in some sort of metal and was leaning against it. One thing he noticed specifically, though, is that he didn't seem to kill it, and ended up letting Giovia release it. Now, Mars didn't judge people on how they fought, but he never saw any reason to let a creature live in a fight. It just seemed like you were holding back if it left the battle alive. However, killing it right away wasn't something Mars would do in a fight. If he felt he had the upper hand, he'd sometimes drag it on, trying to get the most fun out of it as possible. It was a part of his ego that he always hated, as it risked making mistakes. Either way, Geno seemed exhausted after the fight, which seemed rather disappointing for a battle as easy as this one. Shaking his head as he took a seat on the ground, he looked up at Kahra. "What's your opinion on fighting? Do you find it fun, boring, horrible, interesting, or do you have some sort of outside reason that pushes you to do better? It's important to know what you think about it if we're going to be partners."

~Professor Giovia Eriwind/Professor Xavier Caige~

Giovia dropped to her knees as the boy fell to the ground. She would have tried catching him, but he was a bit taller than hair (and no doubt a lot heavier), and she wasn't exactly the strongest person. She brushed the boy's dark hair out of his face and sighed. He had fought well, but he had taken quite the beating. Giovia was feeling a little weak herself from restoring the Nor'zlad from nearly dead to fully recovered, but that wasn't going to stop her from healing Geno. Of course, she wouldn't be able to make him feel his best, but she'd take away most of the pain. As she examined the boy further, she frowned. She gently sat the boy up removed his shirt, rolled it up, and then placed it under his head. Biting her lip at the large bruise, she shook her head.

The woman closed her eyes, placing her hand onto the boy's chest as she did. When she inhaled, instead of a stream of red, a thin line a purple rose to her nose, his bruise vanishing as she breathed it in. The woman tried desperately to not cough, and succeeded. She slowly inhaled, the same white, steamy plume escaping her lips. It splashed on Geno's chest, and Giovia opened her eyes.

"Hey. . .you should strain yourself like that."

Giovia looked up, her eyes slightly bloodshot, at the combat teacher. He helped her stand up, and she shook her head, saying, "I should be fine in a few minutes."

The woman looked back at the unconscious boy, and then at Xavier, saying, "He has such promise. . .he just needs some polishing. Do you think it was wise to let him take on that monster alone?"

Xavier shook his head, saying, "Probably not. But he handled it, right? Where's the Nor'zlad, anyway? Didn't he kill it?"

Giovia cleared her throat, laughing sheepishly as she said, "I. . .I healed it and let it go. . ."

"YOU DID WHAT?!"

~Basic Healing and Protection 101 (well, now she is. . .)~

~Kahra~

Kahra was gawking at the two girls atop the earthen pillar. The one who had created it, she didn't know, but who was the other girl. . ? Kahra could hardly see, but after squinting at it long enough, she realized it was Cylva. Kahra had clapped a hand over her mouth, silently praying that her friends would be alright. . .but from the looks of it, she had been injured.

"What's your opinion on fighting? Do you find it fun, boring, horrible, interesting, or do you have some sort of outside reason that pushes you to do better? It's important to know what you think about it if we're going to be partners."

Kahra's attention went back to Mars as he spoke, and she bit her lip as she contemplated an answer. . .she hadn't been in any fights before the one she had just failed at. How had she felt?

"I find it absolutely terrifying." Kahra said, a hint of a quiver in her voice. She looked down at her feet, and said, "But I'm sure everyone must feel that way at some point or another, right? But I guess I don't really have much of a choice but to get over it, huh?"

Kahra laughed bitterly, and then sighed.

". . .and I guess if there was any outside reason that would motivate me. . .it would probably be my sister, ya know? I want to make her proud, but she doesn't seem to know I exist." Kahra mumbled hugging her arms. Looking back up, she smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry, you probably don't care about all of this. How about you? What's your opinion on fighting? Do you find it exhilarating?"

"Yes, Cylva. I'll just force the pillar back into the ground. . .though it'll be one wild ride, I have to say. . ."

"Sounds like a better plan than staying up here." She shuddered as she once again peeked back down at the ground. She couldn't help but see the wisdom in Lyra's words, and nodded her head slowly in agreement. Though it would be harsh to get such a poor grade on the first assignment of the year, she could undoubtedly redeem the grade over the course of the year. Either way, the fact remained that they were stuck up here on a pillar (a very, very, VERY high pillar), and the only way down, was blocked by a beast that wanted to kill the two of them. Or, at least Cylva. That much she knew.

"Any suggestions?"

Cyla reached up to scratch her head, as she almost always did when deep in thought, but luckily remembered the deep gash in her face from earlier. She quickly withdrew hear hand (claw?) from her head, and looked around. What did she know about this crystal? All she really knew, was that she could seemingly grow it to cover her existing body parts. Nothing of the sort seemed like it would be in the least bit helpful, given the fact that she didn't relish engaging the best in physical combat, again. What else? There has to be something else I know about this stuff... think, Cylva. THINK.) She recalled the day her father had discovered the crystal, and how excited he had been. What had him so excited?" She thought back to the conversation they'd had about it that day, words that she hadn't previously cared for, and only now, felt were at all relevant to her abilities.

"The crystal can integrate seamlessly with other elements. It can travel through earth, take on the form of a liquid, if superheated, it turns into a lava-like substance, and as soon as the exposure to other elements stops, it returns to its natural state. On top of all of that, it can read minds!" her father had exclaimed. Of course, the crystal itself couldn't actually really minds... but it could be manipulated through sheer willpower, alone. Her father had given her a piece of the crystal to hold, and told her to want it to liquid, instead of solid. What a stupid idea. If I don't care about the crystal, how can I want it to change? Her father had laughed, and sent her out of his office, to help her mother prepare dinner.

"That's it!" She turned to Lyra, "I think I know how it works. I'll need a few minutes." Though the explanation was vague, her thoughts were too difficult to explain, in an appropriate amount of time. If I can just want the crystals to appear, and they appear... can't I will them to appear at other locations? Or can I will them to do certain things? She hunched over on the pillar of earth she stood upon, and sank her claws into the soft ground. She focused for a few minutes, imagining what it would feel like to be the crystal moving through the earth. Down below the creature had stopped circling the pillar, and was now standing in one spot, stamping its feet in anger, waiting for its prey to come back within reach. As the crystal worked its way through the earth, she could feel the tremors caused by the beast's stamping.Certain she had the proper location, she urged her claws to quickly emerge from the ground.

The beast on the ground stamped its feet impatiently. It scratched at the pillar, but made little progress in weakening the large chunk of earth. It raised its head in howl of anger, that was cut short in a gurgling scream of anguish. The crystalline claws emerged from the earth, sinking deep into its belly, and slicing its abdomen wide open, disemboweling the creature, entirely. The creature's scream died after only a few seconds, and the blood-soaked claws retracted into the earth, leaving the disemboweled carcass laying on the forest floor.

Cylva slowly removed her claws from the ground, and fell into a cross-legged position, her silver hair streaked with dirt from the struggle that had taken place on the ground, only minutes before. Numb with disbelief at the feat of which she'd just accomplished, and the guilt of having slain the creature in such a gruesome fashion, she fell back, laying flat on the pillar of earth. Her head was spinning. She'd finally been able to manipulate the crystal completely at will! The thought was awe-inspiring. On the other hand, she'd just murdered the creature, in what was possibly the most painful way she could have managed. Judging from the beast's screams, it had felt everything, up until the moment its life had ended.

Looking up at Lyra, she released the breath she had been holding subconsciously, in the form of a deep sigh. "Well... I guess that's it, then." She forced a hollow smile in an unsuccessful attempt to mask the turmoil brewing within her mind. "Now, can we get down from here? It's really sarting to freak me out..."

(Bold: Because I don't know how to do colours.)

Mirabelle Ami

Ami stared blankly at the cage of the monster before her; She wasn't sure whether she wanted to leave it be or let it out. Maybe she could draw her partner in by starting the fight ahead of time.

...Although it didn't seem she had the luxury of making that choice. Suddenly the beast inside the cage hit the cage's door with its head - Very hard, from what Ami saw - And knocked it off, breaking the hinges and sending the door flying to the side as it flew open with great force. Ami yelped and jumped to her feet as the monster charged toward her - She jumped aside to avoid the thing as it continued in the direction she had been in moments ago. Ami stumbled to her feet and clenched her fists - She had no weapon, but she would have to make do.

Ami looked the creature dead in the eyes, put on her best smile and thought the most alluring thoughts she possibly could; The beast charged toward her, its tail flailing back and forth aggressively and the horns on its head getting closer and closer...

And it pounced on her. It didn't work?!

Ami landed flat on her back with her hair strewn out behind her head... She shut her eyes to avoid seeing what would inevitably come. The monster was heavy, too heavy for her to lift. She was having trouble breathing with this thing on her chest anyways, so how could she hope to lift it with her full strength? She tried nonetheless, but it wasn't working.

What do I do now? Ami held the creature's face just far enough to keep it from tearing her apart, but she was unsure of how long she could keep doing so.

(FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIXED)

The creature pounced on Ami, drooling with hunger and ready to tear the helpless girl. As it lunged to bite her, relishing in the fact it would soon have dinner, something moved next to it with a mighty crash. Before it could even react a fist slammed into its jaw. The creature felt it was moving in slow motion. There was an audible crack and it flew a couple feet from the girl. It snorted in pain and turned its injured head to what had hit it. Standing next to the girl was a boy with a shield on his arm.

~

Aleks immediately turned around when he heard a girl fighting a monster. It pounced on her, ready to tear her into shreds. Not sure where her partner was he could not leave her alone. Summoning his shield, he raced toward the girl with long strides. As he took off he heard someone say to someone else that the girl on the ground was Mirabelle Ami.

Just my luck it's my partner. Now I am not breaking any rules.

Without any hesitation or fear he pulled back his right arm and threw a mighty punch. Thanks to the momentum of his running and the heaviness of the shield, it hit the creature ten times harder than Aleks could really punch. Even he was surprised by how far the creature flew. Aleks rolled onto the ground and got up, dusting himself up. He turned to the girl and held out a hand.

"Hello, sorry I am late. Want to be friends?" Aleks asked with a big smile.

Maria Scarlette

"MARIA SOMETHINGSOMETHING!"

Maria's head perked up. She looked around in the crowd, but she failed to find the source of the call. "Er, hello?" She muttered awkwardly and rather quietly.

"I SUGGEST YOU TO BRING YOUR PRETTY BUTT TO WHERE I AM NOW. I'M RAFAELA AND I'M WITH IZAAK RICHASS. YOU SEE, I DON'T WANT MY BEAUTIFUL BUTT GETTING HORNED BY A CREATURE."

"What?" Maria turned around to look at herself - At her rather unflattering butt. No matter what people thought of her butt, she had to find... Wait, those were her partners, weren't they? Maria dashed off in the direction she thought the voice came from and found the two. "Sorry," Maria's cheeks turned a little pink. "I couldn't find you two. But, er, 'pretty butt'?"

Maria waved the thought away. Her butt was the least of their worries.

"So," Maria started, "I'm Maria Scarlette - It's a pleasure to meet you, Rafaela and Izaak. What might your powers be, and how can I support them?" She wasn't quite sure what she could do to help in battle aside from use a weapon. She could always use the power she was given in her evaluation - Which made her sick to think about, but it was all she knew how to do.

Perhaps she could shield them somehow? Or maybe she could just try and distract the thing, or hold it in place... The first thought that came to mind from holding it in place was herself on the back of this thing flailing back and forth as it ran around uncontrollably. Maria shuddered and brushed the thought away... Again. This isn't going to be fun, is it?

"Did you just call me Ri- oh whatever." Isaak growled. There were more important things to worry about. In front of him and the filthy Rafaela was one filthy, and not to mention ugly, creature. A girl ran up to them, introducing herself as their other partner, Maria.

"Let's skip the introductions fil-I mean Maria. My power is Air Manipulation. Anything to do with air, yada yada. Naturally I am the most noble blood here but I will kindly let one of you form our master plan. Just to let you know, we ARE going to do this without any injuries and get an A on this. No exceptions."

"I find it absolutely terrifying. But I'm sure everyone must feel that way at some point or another, right? I want to make her proud, but she doesn't seem to know I exist."

Mars exhaled deeply as he contemplated this. Nothing she said was unusual or off-putting, which was very good. Last thing he wanted was some knight of justice who hated violence and only wants to protect others. Fear wasn't necessarily a good thing, but it wasn't bad either. Though it would make things tricky in the beginning, it wouldn't be impossible for her to overcome those fears. He tried to think back to the first time he fought and how he felt, but it seemed so distant that everything was a blur. As for her motivation? It seemed very rocky and held a chance that she could loose motivation. He had no problems with trying to make someone proud, but if she were to stop caring about her sister, that would be bad. In present time, though, it seemed fine. Judging by her glum posture, it was something that really bothered her.

"I'm sorry, you probably don't care about all of this. How about you? What's your opinion on fighting? Do you find it exhilarating?"

Mars crossed his arms and sighed. Why do they always say I don't care? It was something he'd noticed was common with people who were sympathetic which he found very irritating. "Why would I ask if I didn't care? It's always important to know what bothers your ally and what drives them. Good teamwork comes from knowing your partner well and acting as one, so it is very important to share everything with one another." Look who's talking, mister ego.

Leaning back on his arms as he outstretched his legs, he thought for a long time. After a moment of silence, he spoke. "Yeah, you're right. I find fighting a thrill. Always on edge, trying to anticipate what your opponent is going to do and being able to come up with a counter attack... it's like a game of chess, except every piece has the potential to be your king. It's a great feeling, triumphing over your opponent, knowing you won purely out of skill alone. It's no fun if they just roll over and die, though. A victory without a challenge is no victory at all." He was staring upwards as he spoke, smiling and reminiscing on his past battles. "As for a motivation, it's nothing like wanting to be noticed or trying to protect others, just that being weak sucks."

~Lyra~

Lyra bit down on her lip as she tried to think of something. . .anything she could do. Her eyes somehow ended up wandering over to Mars and his partner. The President's vision wasn't the best (she'd been meaning to get it checked), so she couldn't tell if she knew the girl or not. . .but Lyra couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity about her. The way she stood, and the overall aura about her. Lyra wasn't staring at the girl for long before her eyes drifted back to Mars. Her lips tightened into a line as she stared at him, and her heart suddenly jumped. Could she still be worried about him? It looked like the two had already taken care of their monster. . .why the hell was it burnt to a crisp? Did the girl have heat manipulation as well. . .?

"That's it!"

Lyra's attention snapped back to Cylva, and she cried, "What's it?!"

"I think I know how it works. I'll need a few minutes."

"You think you know how what works?" Lyra asked in the same tone Cylva had used. The girl didn't receive an answer, as her partner was already deep in focus. What was she doing? Lyra didn't know. She didn't fully understand this girl's power. . .hopefully, whatever she was doing was going to be enough to kill that monster. Cylva's claws were now deeply sunk into the pillar, and Lyra was thoroughly.

She hadn't pieced everything together until the pain filled, gurgling scream of the Nor'zlad filled the air, only to be silenced seconds later. Lyra's eyes widened as she peered down at the monster, shocked to see that crystals, identical to the ones attached to Cylva's arms, had burst through the ground and into the creature's stomach.

"Well... I guess that's it, then. Now, can we get down from here? It's really sarting to freak me out..."

Lyra, her mouth gaping in shock, couldn't speak. She just nodded, and slowly raised her wrist. She gently flicked in down, and slowly, the pillar began to make its descent back into the ground. Lyra stepped off of the platform when it was about a foot off of the ground, and gently brought it down the rest of the way.

"Cylva. . ." Lyra stuttered, finally finding her voice. The girl walked over to the dead beast, looking over her shoulder at her partner, saying, "That was. . .that was incredible! No, not just incredible. . .AMAZING! Revolutionary! Creative! Spectacul--ARRRRRRRRGHHHH!"

Lyra leaped back, both hands going to her knee. Being the horrible clumsy person she was, she'd walked right into the dead Nor'zlad's horn. It was probably just a small cut, but Xavier was definitely right about the horns being sharp.

"See, I have no problem when the thing is alive, but it somehow manages to hurt me when it's dead. THAT is the definition of pathetic." Lyra whimpered, sitting down to examine her knee.

~Basic Healing and Protection 101~

~Kahra~

"Why would I ask if I didn't care? It's always important to know what bothers your ally and what drives them. Good teamwork comes from knowing your partner well and acting as one, so it is very important to share everything with one another."

Kahra bit the inside of her cheek and nodded. He did have a point. . .but most of the things about her were weird, irrelevant, or downright boring. Did he mean those things, too? She was about to start listing everything about herself when he spoke again.

A victory without a challenge is no victory at all."

"Yes, but a victory by any other name is still a victory. If that makes sense. And it probably doesn't. . ." Kahra shrugged. "Whenever I squish a cricket, I consider that an amazing victory."

"As for a motivation, it's nothing like wanting to be noticed or trying to protect others, just that being weak sucks."

Kahra laughed, and said, "Yeah, I would know."

"ARRRRRRRRGHHHH!"

Kahra's head snapped towards the direction of the cry just in time to see Cylva's partner jump back from the dead Nor'zlad. The pillar of earth was now back in the ground, so it was pretty apparent the two had succeeded. She raised an eyebrow, and then pointed to the girl and said, "Well, at least I'm not like that."

~Basic Combat 101~

"Yes, but a victory by any other name is still a victory. If that makes sense. And it probably doesn't. . ."

Mars turned back to Kahra and nodded. "You're right, I know. It's just... it doesn't FEEL like a victory to me. It's more of a personal thing. If anything, your idea makes sense and mine is the one that is more unusual." It was something that he also found odd. Mars assumed it stemmed from his prideful nature and always wanting a fair fight. He always just compared it to a game like hockey; Shooting the puck into the net was nice, but if no one was trying to stop you, was it really worth it? Fighting out of necessity was different, but when he had a chance to say yes or no, he always tried to have some fun.

"ARRRRRRRRGHHHH!"

Mars glanced in the direction of the noise, noticing that it seemed Lyra and her partner were finished with their fight, and this time the creature was dead, disemboweled no less. At least whoever that person was knew how to end a fight. Continuing to scan, he saw Lyra sitting down, examining her knee. That must have been the source of the scream. How in the world did she hurt herself, though? The creatures organs were staining the ground, indicating that it was probably not a threat. Leave it to her to find a way to injure herself. Mars suddenly felt a strange ping in his chest and found himself standing up before he realized what he was doing. He stumbled slightly as weight was put back onto his ankle and turned his head towards his partner. "I think I better go check on her, see what's up." And with that, he slowly walked over to where Lyra was seated and knelt down beside her. "What happened here? I noticed that you and your partner had won the fight and you still seemed to find a way to get hurt. Is he still a threat? Jeez, I should've picked this guy if he's still fighting after that." He laughed at his own joke before looking at Lyra's partner. "Names Mars, by the way. Nice job with the organ removal there." Turning back to his friend, his gaze focused on the spot she was holding, a more serious expression painted on his face "Well, how bad is it? Nothing too serious, I assume?"

~Lyra/Kahra~

"I think I better go check on her, see what's up."

Kahra nodded as she watched Mars go to the wounded girl (who was obviously a friend of his). The brunette glanced back at the blackened carcass of the Nor'zlad and wrinkled her nose. It stunk. . .really bad. The girl inched away from the thing, reaching down and picking up a stick. She hesitated, and then gently poked it. When a chip of the dead creature crackled off, Kahra shuddered, dropping the stick and making her way over to Mars, Cylva, and the girl who had just cut herself.

"What happened here? I noticed that you and your partner had won the fight and you still seemed to find a way to get hurt. Is he still a threat? Jeez, I should've picked this guy if he's still fighting after that."

Lyra glared at Mars as he was suddenly kneeling beside her. She hadn't meant to hurt herself. . .she just wasn't looking where she was going. Then again, that was the reason for about half of her injuries, whether she was catching her hip on a desk or walking into a plate glass door. . .though Lyra had to admit, the fact that Mars had come to her aid not even two minutes after she had gotten injured (if you could even call it an injury) gave the girl a comforting sense of security. Of course, she always felt like that when she was with Mars. She knew that he'd never let anything hurt her. He'd sooner fry something to a crisp than let them try.

"Well, how bad is it? Nothing too serious, I assume?"

Removing her hands from her knee, Lyra revealed the shallow cut. Blood bubbled across the gash, a drop occasionally sliding down the girl's leg. Lyra sighed, and said, "Eh, it could be a lot worse. Nothing a band-aid won't cure, right? Besides, Cylva's leg is hurt. It's not broken, but there's gotta be an ugly bruise. . ."

Kahra immediately looked at Cylva and frowned, squeaking, "What happened? Is your leg hurt badly? Let me see. . .should I get Giovia? Do you need a healer?"

The ride down was much less than pleasant for Cylva. Every bump along the way sent her into a panic, her heart nearly pounding out of her chest. She'd made the trip down laying flat on her stomach, focusing intently on the ground beneath her, as if thinking that seeing the ground directly below her would help lessen the sensation. It didn't. Finally, as they arrived at ground level. Lyra stepped off about a foot beforehand, but Cylva clung to the same section of earth she'd clung to all the way down. At long last, she looked around, and finally gingerly stood up, wincing with pain as her leg reminded her of the injury she'd received.

"That was. . .that was incredible! No, not just incredible. . .AMAZING! Revolutionary! Creative! Spectacul--"

Cylva had impressed herself, as well, though her intention had been to grab the beast, and subdue it, forming a crystallized prison around it, so it would no longer be a threat. She'd definitely miscalculated a bit, and that resulted in the outcome both of the girls had seen. Note to self. Make sure you're a better aim before you decide to try helping anyone... She nodded curtly to Lyra. "Th-thanks. I didn't really mean to. I mean, I was just trying to restrain it." The confession was definitely embarrassing. Restraining something, and disemboweling it, are on two TOTALLY opposite ends of the spectrum.

"ARRRRRRRRGHHHH!"

"Lyra! Are you alright?" Cylva pulled her attention back to the matter at hand, wondering if the creature was somehow still alive. Looking around frantically, she was able to piece together what had occurred. "Umm... how did you--? Nevermind that. Are you alright?"

"Names Mars, by the way. Nice job with the organ removal there."

"O-oh. Yeah. That." Cylva gagged at the mention of the creature's organs. That was definitely not a sight she needed to see again anytime soon. "I'm Cylvaara. You can call me Cylva. If you'd like. And thank you, but that wasn't supposed to happen. It was an accident. You see--" she stopped herself. It probably wouldn't be best to tell all of her classmates she had been trying to restrain the beast, and ended up spilling its internal organs all over the forest, unintentionally. Though she wasn't exceptionally experienced in social interaction, she had a feeling that wouldn't go over too well.

"What happened? Is your leg hurt badly? Let me see. . .should I get Giovia? Do you need a healer?"

"Hello, Kahra. I just got hit with the tail-- no, it will be alright. Really, it's fine, no need to bother the professor, but thank you for your concern. It's just a rather large bruise. Nothing serious." Cylva quickly answered the onslaught of questions, as the girl fired them. She'd had more interaction for the day, already, than she cared for, and the other pair joining them only served to increase her anxiety levels.

Looking down at her crystalline claws, she decided it would be best to do whatever she needed to do, and make them go away for the time being. They were certainly useful, as she'd just found out, but they were definitely the kind of thing that has a time and a place. Here and now was neither. Closing her eyes for a few moments, she willed the crystals to disappear. Almost. The claws retracted, at least. Can it not be completely removed? She sighed deeply. So much for a normal life. Turning, she saw the charred corpse of the other pair's Nor'zlad. "Kahra, you did that? Incredible. I knew that you could manipulate elements, but I didn't really consider you being able to use fire so effectively..."

"Kahra, you did that? Incredible. I knew that you could manipulate elements, but I didn't really consider you being able to use fire so effectively..."

Kahra frowned, bowing her head as her friend uttered the words. She suddenly felt very ashamed, and muttered, "It wasn't me. . .I had some, uh, "complications" while fighting the creature and Mars ended up having to kill the thing for me. Xavier is actually going to switch us, so I'm going to be in Basic Healing and Protection and he's going to be in Basic Combat--"

"WHAT?!"

Kahra looked back down at Lyra, who had obviously been upset somehow by Kahra's words.

Lyra shook her head, and then looked back at Mars, squeaking, "You're transferring? B-but. . .I. . .but. . ."

The President didn't know what exactly she was trying to say. She felt happy for Mars, yes. He'd wanted to be in Basic Combat 101 from the beginning. . .but how could he just transfer out and leave her behind? Why would he do that?

Why did she care so much?

If it had been Blake transferring out, she'd probably hold the door open for him. . .but Mars? Lyra didn't know. . .but why was her heart racing all of a sudden? Why were her cheeks burning? It wasn't like she was never going to see him again. They'd eat lunch together, they'd see eachother at student council meetings, and they both had Otherworld History.

"C-congratulations." Lyra managed to say, giving her friend a small smile.

Maria Scarlette

"Let's skip the introductions fil-I mean Maria."

Maria stared at Isaak there. What? Fil-something... Think, Maria, think. "My power is Air Manipulation. Anything to do with air, yada yada. Naturally I am the most noble blood here but I will kindly let one of you form our master plan. Just to let you know, we ARE going to do this without any injuries and get an A on this. No exceptions."

I beg your pardon?! If this was what current-day nobility was like, it made Maria sick. She wanted to protest and proclaim how much this man's words sickened her, but she decided against it - This was supposed to be someone she had to protect, right?

Oh, Gods, how do I protect someone I already hate?

"Perhaps you should lower your expectations, friend." Hostility was noticeable in her tone as she spoke. "This is practice, not perfection. No one's going to get hurt badly, and if they do, that means I'm not doing my job right. Understood? I'll do my best to heal you two if you need it - And since I can't completely defend you, I could try to distract the monster, make it focus on me instead of you two, then you two can attack it as it tries to attack me. How does that sound?" Maria took a deep breath - She had just spoke a lot, more than she realized, and she was almost out of breath, after running as fast as she could, greeting her partners and her incessant talking.

Maybe I should go ask for my whip, or my sword. Either could help me out, I think.

~Basic Combat 101~

Mirabelle Ami

Suddenly the monster wasn't on her anymore - It was simply gone. She could breathe easily again, which was nice, but the thing was actually starting to grow on her a bit. Luckily not literally.

"Hello, sorry I am late. Want to be friends?"

A man stood above her with a hand held out and a big smile across his face. More than anything Ami was happy to take his hand. She pulled herself to her feet, somewhat with his help but also on her own. "Sorry... You got to me at a bit of a bad time, huh?" Ami giggled a bit. "Don't worry, I'm not hurt, though - You and my power did that." Ami put her free hand to her cheek - The one that hurt, which she assumed was her left cheek. It felt like it hurt, and from the corner of her eye she could see it was purple. "Thanks, by the way. The monster got out of its cage and my power didn't work as well as I had hoped, and that thing was too heavy for me to move, so."

The want to be friends remark rung in her ears. "Friends... I guess so. I don't have any friends so far, I think." She recalled talking with Mars, but it seemed like he wasn't interested in her, and someone like him would probably have plenty of friends.

~Rafaela~

Once Rafaela saw Maria approaching them, she grinned to herself.

"What did we learn today, kids? If you want to catch someone's attention, just tell them their butt is pretty. It always work." She amused herself.

"So,I'm Maria Scarlette - It's a pleasure to meet you, Rafaela and Izaak. What might your powers be, and how can I support them?"

"Oh, I'm Rafaela. The pleasure is all mine! And introductions apart, as much as I love them, we have a giant bull that eats radiation as its breakfast to kill. So, my power is basically Animal Control. I can control any animal, including insects, though with a limit. And as to what you can do, sometimes they get hurt in battle, and since I'm always in the front line as well, I don't have time to take care of them, so I just tell them to abandon the battle. However, some doesn't make it. If I give them the order, they'll obey you, that would make it easier for you to assist them, or, them to assist you. Got it?" Rafaela smiled to the girl, hoping she understood her explanation. The brunette usually didn't trust people enough to give them the "trust" of the animals. But she knew that, in this case, it could be really helpful. Sometimes she didn't have both of her eyes on the whole battle, so she could be easily attacked from her back. And if she didn't see it, the animals didn't either. To have one more pair of eyes on them would be really helpful.

"Oh, and about Isaak, just ignore him. Where would be the fun if we don't get hurt a least a little bit? Like, if I got a scar I would be really happy. I mean, I know it hurts and all, but dude, that's like a history of when I almost died. Awesome." She said grinning. Well, rafaela could be a little bit crazy. Just a tad.

Mars let out a short sigh of relief upon seeing Lyra's injury. It was nothing more than a simple scar that would probably heal in a few hours. "That's good. Just keep some pressure on it for a few minutes. That should help out a bit." He didn't know why he'd been so worried in the first place. Lyra seemed to have a talent of getting minor injuries out of nowhere. They were rarely anything that would be very serious, but the abnormal frequency of such injuries was alarming. He was about to ask how the fight had went when he heard Kahra talking about the class transfer.

"WHAT?! You're transferring? B-but. . .I. . .but. . ."

He quickly turned in the direction of Lyra's exclamation. She sounded very disheartened by this news, which for some reason caused his heart to sink. He expected her to be slightly disappointed by the news, but not to this degree. The decision he had so easily made before to transfer classes was now being reconsidered inside of his head. He couldn't just leave her like this if she would be this distraught. Maybe he should give healing and protection another shot, broaden his horizon. His combat skills were bountiful already. Yeah, maybe staying with Lyra is the better- He mentally shook his sense back into his head. Kahra was also involved in this swap, and he didn't want these odd heart changes he'd been having recently to mess things up for her. Besides, he'd already considered this before. They'd see each other at other times. He also remembered that these strange feelings were one of the reasons he thought it was better to transfer out. If it was actually love, he needed time to figure out what in the world to do. Mars scratched the back of his head as he looked down at the ground. "Um, thanks. I'm sorry about the swapping out s-so suddenly, but i-it just seemed like the best option for m-me and Kahra as a team. But hey! We still have Otherworld history together, as well as student council meetings, not to mention the fact that combat and protection do these collabs every so often. It's not like I'm leaving the school or anything." He felt a pit in his stomach that seemed like a gargantuan hole of nothingness, and before he could think he spoke. "You know what? Since it was sudden and may have caught you off guard, if there is something I can do to make up for it then feel free to ask. It can be anything, as long as I have the ability to do it. It doesn't need to be right away, just something to keep in mind." Well, that seems stupid. Why did I say that? He mentally face palmed with the mental force to give himself a mental concussion. Well, he was pretty sure that she'd deny it anyways out of principle or use it for something he'd do anyways, so he wasn't too worried.

--------------------------------------------- Ambrogino Friar ---------------------------------------------

His passing out didn't last. He awoke with a jolt when a familiar voice screamed "YOU DID WHAT?!". He sat up and blinked for a few seconds, being unsure of what just happened. The first thing he noticed was that he no longer had a shirt on. It was pretty cold, but most of all he felt his privacy being invaded. His only experience with showing skin while being around people was wearing tank tops, he didn't even go to the beach. He quickly spun around, saw his shirt on the ground and got it on. He did notice his bruise being gone whilst doing so, though.

He patted his chest, and realized it didn't hurt. He looked up at Giovia, and said ".. Did you heal me?.. Thanks, it kinda hurt." It took him a couple of seconds to realize why he'd awoken in the first place. He remembered the "YOU DID WHAT?" in the back of his mind, and wondered what that was about for a second. Wait, he let the creature go. Oh yeah, that was probably it. Wait, that might be percieved as his fault! OH GOD. He backed a couple steps away from the two teachers and nervously scratched his neck. "Eh... Do you want me to try and find it?" He had to offer his help. This was, after all, definitely his fault. He should've killed it to begin with.

Thinking back, he realized the reason that fight had gone the way it did was because he didn't truly want to kill it to begin with. He had doubted, and it came back to bite him in the ass. Well, luckily Ms. Eriwind had fixed the proverbial 'ass-bite'. "I could probably find it, I still feel some of my.. Material, moving somewhere in the forest. I might've not gotten rid of it all."

~Lyra~

As Mars tried to comfort Lyra, the girl still couldn't help but feel upset. She felt silly, throwing a mini tantrum over something of petty as Mars transferring out of a class, but she was genuinely upset by this. What would he do? None of the members of the student council were in that class. What if he really hated all of the other students? What if they were mean to him and Lyra wasn't there to--well, they probably wouldn't be mean to him. Mars was a very likable person, but. . .Wouldn't he miss Lyra at all?

Did he even care?

"You know what? Since it was sudden and may have caught you off guard, if there is something I can do to make up for it then feel free to ask. It can be anything, as long as I have the ability to do it. It doesn't need to be right away, just something to keep in mind."

Don't transfer.

Lyra quickly shook away the thought, and silently contemplated his words. Anything, huh? Lyra frowned, as the last time she'd asked him for a favor, he ended up hurt. Lyra sighed and looked back down at her knee, which had stopped bleeding for the most part.

"No, Mars, it's fine." she smiled, looking back up at him. She was about to take his hand (for some reason), but stopped when she remembered that they were covered in blood. She drew back slightly and continued, "It's not your fault I'm being a big baby about this. It's what you want, so go for it! No strings attached, 'kay?"

~Basic Healing and Protection 101/Basic Combat 101~

~Professor Giovia Eriwind/Professor Xavier Caige~

".. Did you heal me?.. Thanks, it kinda hurt."

Giovia and Xavier both turned towards the boy as he spoke, the woman kneeling down beside him while the Basic Combat teacher stood, arms crossed.

"Eh... Do you want me to try and find it?"

"No, Xavier just being an idiot, as usual." Giovia sighed as if the man wasn't standing directly behind her. He stepped forward and growled, "Who are YOU calling an idiot? YOU'RE the one who let it go! And if letting it go weren't enough, you HEALED it! WHY?!"

"You're the one who imprisoned it."

"You're the one who WANTED me to!"

That one had Giovia stumped. He was right, she had wanted Xavier to go out and capture all of these monsters. It's not like they were innocent little bunnies, these monsters were dangerous. . .evil creatures. Now that she was thinking about it, why did she let it go?

"I could probably find it, I still feel some of my.. Material, moving somewhere in the forest. I might've not gotten rid of it all."

Both of the teachers looked back at Geno, and this time, they were finally agreeing on something.

"You're hurt." Giovia started. Xavier nodded, practically finishing her sentence with, "You can't do anything right now."

(im sorry....1 no alerts 2 I felt out.)

Emma had been slacking off lately, though she managed to finish her assignments. But now, she was in Healing and protection and was outside with other students. She had asked one of her classmates for her partenr and one of them led her to him, all she heard was him walking back and forth "you sound scared." she said, smiling softly "Dont be." she assured him. stopping him from pacing so much "This is nothing. All you need to do is keep strong and think of the good that will come out of this."

[isaak Heidrich]

"Ignore me!?" Isaak roared. "I swear to you, after we finish this, you'll be receiving a all from my agent! Both of you will!!"

What an irritating girl this was. The other one spoke to him with such insolence he wanted to slap her. However, the gentleman that he was, he restrained himself. He listened to Maria talk, about her worthless healing.

"Whatever, let's just complete this and be done with it. All the filth in the air is disgusting, not to mention I'm sick of looking at the ugly creatures here." He was not referring to the monsters but no one knew that.

Aleks smiled.

"That's good. Friends are good. You and I are friends now yes? Good." He said happily.

The creature gave a roar and pawed the ground. Aleks turned to it and observed it. It was quite the creature. Its skin was tough considering there was just barely scratch where Aleks had punched it.

"I am no fighter but I will defend you. Perhaps you be the offensive and I will be the defensive. Strike first and retreat while I defend you. Or I can hold back the beast until you find a good point to destroy it. Either way, friends will prevail no?"

These two seemed to have very different ideas of how to have one of these lessons. Geno felt a bit uncomfortable. After he offered his help, they turned to him, and said "You're hurt." and "You can't do anything right now.". Geno frowned. He place his left hand on his right shoulder, and moved his right arm around in a cranking motion. He leaned his head to the left and looked at Giovia. "I ain't hurt anymore, thanks to ya." He leaned his head to the right and looked at Xavier. "Speak for yourself, man. I feel fine." He sighed when he heard himself talk. He was being rude, and there was no reason to revolt against teachers, who simply held him from accidently getting himself hurt. "Sorry, you're right. I'll stay."

He felt disappointed again. Was he really so violent that he'd rush into a forest filled with monsters just to get a chance to kill? His sudden state of mind worried him, but he shook it off as a random instinct. Looking around, he saw that... Ehmmm... Lyra? Yeah, Lyra, M.. M... Mars, and a couple girls he hadn't met were standing around. He yawned and approached them, as he didn't have anything better to do, exactly. "... It can be anything, as long as I have the ability to do it. It doesn't need to be right away, just something to keep in mind."

Wonder what that was about. Not that he actually cared, thinking 'Wonder what that was about' is just his regular reaction to almost everything. He got next to the small gathering, and was about to open his mouth and say "Hey." before he noticed that one of these girls had a very large crystal as an arm. Which intrigued him. He scratched his chin for a second, and then inquired "Hey, is that your ability?" pointing at the crystal. If this was indeed her power, it seemed a lot like his own, and maybe they could train together or something. He had, after all, gotten a sudden interest in getting stronger.

"Hey, is that your ability?"

Great.Yet another person to meet. Cylva turned as the boy approached, and appeared to be indicating her arm. Her face flushed with embarrassment as she met his gaze. Those eyes... how strange. The boy's eyes were the first thing she noticed about him, mostly due to the stark white pupils. His question forgotten, she stared at his eyes, wondering what might have caused the odd coloring in them.

After a few minutes of staring blankly at him, Cylva remember she needed to respond to something. "M-my ability? What--" Oh, gods. That's right, he asked me a question. She felt silly, suddenly realizing she'd been absentmindedly staring into the boy's eyes for quite some time. She averted her eyes, now consciously avoiding making eye contact, which, now that it was forced, was just as awkward as realizing she'd been staring at him. "Oh. Right. This," she indicated her arm. "Yes, I can grow these crystals. It's not much, but... it apparently gets the job done," Cylva offered an awkward, forced laugh, and gestured to the corpse of the Nor'zlad. "I'm still not very good at controlling it, though..." she looked up at the boy again, a light blush reaching her cheeks as she accidentally made eye contact, yet again. While she was sure the boy possessed plenty of good qualities, she couldn't stop looking at his eyes. They were so captivating. Quickly looking away, once more, she continued. "M-my name's Cylvaara Lannis. You can call me Cylva. If you'd like to, of course." Well, that was lame. Good job not being awkward, Cylva. You deserve a pat on the back.

The girl stared at him for a moment. It was a bit awkward, but with what had happened in the last few days, he'd been somewhat numb to it. He started feeling a bit self-conscious about his eyes though. She was looking him in the eyes, and it had been some time since someone so shamelessly stared at him like that. He stood strong though, and didn't avert his eyes. "M-my ability? What--" Oh, he didn't consider that. If he just walked up and talked to someone like that, they might get shy. He just assumed he was the most socially awkward person around.

She averted her eyes, and avoided eye contact. Man, he hadn't planned on her being so shy. "Oh. Right. This." She said, indicating her arm. "I'm still not very good at controlling it, though..." She gestured towards the carcass of a dead... Well, their name was more confusing than regular people's, so he'd just keep calling them monsters. It had spikes of the crystal run through it all over, and it's intestines were spread about. Instead of immediate interest in the crystal spikes, a smile formed on his face when he saw the mutilated corpse. "God, what's wrong with me.." He said, before walking closer to the carcass, and squatting by it to inspect the crystals.

It looked like the crystals had been quickly grown to pierce the beast. Kinda like his first attack against his monster, except his spikes required a preexisting pool of his metal, and his spikes were smaller, though sharper, by the looks of it. "Interesting... Seems like your ability is faster than mine." He said, not really to anyone, but it would sound like it was to the girl. The amount of crystal, and the speed it must've moved at wasn't something Geno could've done, but it was definitely interest. He had to work on increasing the amount of metal he could make, and the speed he could move it at in it's liquid state.

"M-my name's Cylvaara Lannis. You can call me Cylva. If you'd like to, of course." The girl said behind him. He pulled his eyes off of the spikes, and looked back at her. "C.. Cylva. Alright. I probably would've called you that anyway, my memory for names is piss-poor, and I tend to shorten names to remember them easier." He stood up and walked back to her. "Well then... Cylva. It seems you and I have very similar abilities, except it seems yours is a bit faster than mine. Maybe we can help each other out. I'm Geno, by the way." He extended a hand to shake hers, and made a wave of his slide across his hand and disappear equally fast, to give her an example of his ability. It must've looked like he turned his skin to metal or something, but he hoped the girl figured it was more than that. He forced some enthusiasm into the gesture, and even managed to get himself to smile at the girl.

@AshenLily

For some reason, all this analytical thinking just wasn't for him; the fact that he kept talking in such a manner did not help either way. But she was dead right about one thing, this thing was far from me a speed demon, more of a lumbering giant then anything else. Although the idea about standing behind her then entering her shadow was indeed a clever one, the shadow itself had to be nearly the same size as the being that it was taking under. So needless to say, unless the beast was to be taken underneath the shade of the tree, Luke would have very little impact in this whole debacle. But if this assignment were at night time, there would have been an endless list to his uses but since that was never going to happen, he just sighed. What could he actually do? There was nothing he would be able to do to actually assist his partner in this assignment. I feel worthless, he thought to himself as he rested a contemplating on his head, My powers have little or no offensive capabilities. I'm pretty much useless for this entire thing...

"It's a good idea but..." he began, stepping back a few steps in thought, "The shadow needs to be the same size as the being that is going into it. So unless you gained about 700 pounds in the next few seconds, I'm practically obsolete for this entire exercise. I'll still be thinking about ways I could be of use but during the day, it isn't exactly the most opportune time for my ability to work."

And that was the sad truth about this whole training session. When the only thing you can do is slip in the shadows, it doesn't leave a lot for combat effectiveness. But when your gifted such an ability like this, you really have to play to it's strengths. And going onto a battlefield was the not the most ideal time of day for such a thing. Hiding in the shadows at dark hours, that's when he would be able to utilize them to their optimum capability. Grab a knife and faster then you can say 'slit', everybody in the room would be dead. As gruesome as it was, the only thing he would be able to do with his power was be an assassin.

How pathetic was he?

The boy's face lit up with a smile, as he... saw the mutilated carcass? How peculiar. She watched him, as he examined the corpse with fascination, unable to fathom how someone could find such a thing pleasing. Oh, well. It wasn't any of her business, anyway.

"Well then... Cylva. It seems you and I have very similar abilities, except it seems yours is a bit faster than mine. Maybe we can help each other out. I'm Geno, by the way."

Cylva had laughed as Geno explained his issue with remembering names. "Nice to meet you, Geno," she smiled happily. She, herself was quite good with them, but understood why others had problems with them, at times. As she reached down to grasp his hand, she saw a faint shimmer of what appeared to be metal as it moved across his hand. Looking back from his hand, up to his eyes, she nodded. "What exactly is your ability?" She'd seen the dark metal, but that didn't give much insight as to what his abilities could possibly be.
