~Basic Combat 101~

--------------------------------------------- Gwendolyn Friar ---------------------------------------------

Whilst still pouting about Geno's lack of interest, Gwen was approached by someone. A kid that was a bit taller than her, but then again, at this school, it seemed like everyone was taller than her, and she'd always considered herself to be pretty tall. "You wouldn't happen to be Gwen would you? Pleasure to meet you, Luke Bell is my name. I hope we get along alright so if you feel like discussing our abilities and just to get to know each other, I'll wait on you. Until then!" "Hold on! You in a hurry? Cuz I don't have anything holding me from talking about powers and stuff. Yeah, I'm Gwen, cool to meet ya Luke." She didn't like lying, even in introductory lines, so she never said 'Nice to meet you', as she didn't know if it was nice yet, but saying 'Cool to meet you' was a much broader term to her, and something could always be perceived as cool by SOMEONE.

She had to think about what she should say for a moment. She didn't just wanna go out and say she sucked at offense because she couldn't control her powers. She was a good fighter without her steam. "So I'll just go first, then? I just very recently discovered I've got powers, so I can't control them well at all yet, so I'm sorry if you're gonna have to do a lot of work. I can control and create steam, and the only property of it I've noticed so far, is that it's stupid hot. Also, I'm very resistant against heat. I can fight pretty good without my powers anyway though, I used to get in brawls with my brother when we were kids, and I always won, even though he was older and bigger than me." .... Except when he cheated with his powers.

"Well, unless you've got any questions, enough about me. Now, what's your powers, and how can you support me with 'em?"

@Larrylycan

Mirabelle Ami

Despite not having her partner yet, Ami walked over to one of the caged monsters. My partner will come to me. I don't have to look for them, I'm sure.

Ami sat down in front of the caged monster - About five big steps from it - And stared at it. It didn't look that scary, she thought, but what the hell could she do about this thing? Her power wasn't combat-oriented, which might be a problem. The thought of needing to use her power on this thing... Ugh. I need a weapon more than anything now. Maybe she should ask one of the teachers for help - Surely they knew what her power was already, so she could get help, right? But if she got help, wouldn't that look weak or silly? She though as much, at least.

Ami sighed. "I'll figure things out, I guess. It shouldn't be that hard to handle it, right?"

Maria Scarlette

"Ay," Maria looked at one of the monsters. A fight sounds fun, yes, but I don't know... Without a weapon to fall back on? It seems silly and dangerous. Not that I don't trust the teachers will intervene, but... Maria's eyes widened - She would have to protect her partners, wouldn't she? And her ability was healing them, not protecting them. The best protection she could offer was taking hits for people, and she wasn't masochistic.

Wait, where are my partners? I still haven't found them anywhere...

~Luke~

"Well, unless you've got any questions, enough about me. Now, what's your powers, and how can you support me with 'em?"

"Well, the first thing you should know about me is that I'm a DID-stricken Irishman," he began, the voices concurring with he had uttered thus far, "The next thing you should probably know is that DID stands for dissociative identity disorder or multiple personality disorder, pick your poison. As for my powers, they mostly include anything to do with shadows, the best thing I can do is physically merge with the shadows themselves. So, for strategy, you could agitate that thing with your powers in the direction of a tree. After it charges and is stunned for a few moment, I'll climb in myself and drag it's feet underneath so the only thing left is it's body. Then, could you possibly heat it's head to the point that it combusts?...That seems...too filthy to be honest. I'm sorry, I just feel more aggressive today."

Indeed he felt like that, possibly due to the impetus of two constantly-conversing personalities incessantly speak about about all things without restraint. But it felt strangely natural too, as if being angry was always a thing crossed out whenever he talked about himself. Not really, I'm a timid sort of fella, would be the common response he would constantly give.

Luke growled to himself for some inexplicable reason, as if the seeing the beast in the cage rattled him; he wanted this thing NOW.

I've got to you have I? Good, all according to plan. Now, that plan was good, but I can imagine you can improve on it. Very much so. How, you may ask? Well, I'll leave that to your imagination now won't I? Wouldn't want to ruin the whole surprise now would? What fun would it be if I gave you all the answers? not much I could imagine. Now, I'll let you hammer for the time being. The other one is quiet, I'll keep him company.

"S-smoking i-is bad... Y-you shouldn't s-smoke."

Tekis continued to smoke, not breaking eye contact. "These are filtered cigarettes. None of the bad stuff you hear on TV."She is failing to keep eye contact with me, I guess she is a little frightened."I hope we can work together efficiently, and tackle any dangers that lie ahead". Tekis put put the cigarette out, and walked up to the cage; staying away the distance said in the instructions. Tekis stared at the creature, he wondered. Will I be able to defeat this creature? This is my first time actually using my power on a living thing. Ehh, I can do this... Just you wait old man, you did not die in vain!Tekis turned to Calista; this time, he was not like himself. He was fired up; ready to take on this challenge. "Ready Calista?"

"DID? Oh, sorry. That must suck." She said, with an actual bit of sympathy in her voice. Mostly because it would affect her, probably. "Yeah, about your plan there though, I can't really "heat" things. I can definitely melt it's face off if necessary though." Melt it's face off? That's not a thing she thought she'd say, but she liked it. She really had to train her skills, so she could actually deliver in that fashion more often.

She walked up to the cage, and stared at the monster. In a way, it was kinda cute. Imagine having one of these trained, domesticated, and chained to a post in your backyard. No one would try to break into your home. Kinda made the tigers from back home grow pale in comparison. Nontheless, praising it in her brain like that wasn't gonna lead anywhere good, especially if she was going up against it. Nevermind being good at fighting, punching this thing in the face didn't look like it would have an effect. She had to try though.

"Hey, have you seen our other teammate, by the way? Some guy named Sol or something."

Cylva stared in wonderment as the creatures were revealed. Just a few weeks ago, she'd thought she was the only abnormal person in the world, as far as her powers went. Now she'd found that there were even more unnatural people, who had been born with the powers, or developed them naturally. As hard as that had been to cope with, now she was facing the reality that creatures such as this, and who knows what else, actually existed.

"Be careful of their horns, as they could charge you and run you right through. Their claws could snap your neck. Their tails can break your leg."

Well. That's great. At least I don't have to worry about the whole 'dying' thing. Just being impaled, and getting my neck, and/or various limbs broken. Swell... "Well, I guess that doesn't sound too bad... right, Lyra?" Cylva's voice oozed sarcasm, as she addressed the other girl. "Nothing to worry about. Nothing, at all." The news that their armor wasn't very thick was definitely a relief, though, and given the sharpness of her claws, she should be able to cut through the creature's hide with ease. If they were as sharp as she thought they were, anyway.

Cylva picked a random cage, and walked over near it, examining the creature. As far as the ones they had to pick from, this one appeared to be in a rather good mood, comparatively speaking, of course. Standing just a few feet away from the cage, she knelt down, and examined the creature closer. It returned the look, appearing to be more curious of her than it was frightened, though it still looked like it would tear her apart at a moment's notice. Suddenly, it occurred to her that the creatures were intelligent. She'd figured all along that they would be, but the realization had finally sunk in. She quickly stood and turned, being careful not to meet the creature's gaze again. After all, she was supposed to kill it. Or... try to kill it, at least. No point in making the task any more difficult by naming the damn thing.

She stared at the switch at her feet, and turned toward Lyra. "Well... I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be. How about yourself?"

@Rai\-Chan

Anthony Looked at the cages and started walking around the cage he was closest to and the monster started to growl at him. "Hey I'm grabbing this one he looks absolutely pi**ed." Anthony was grinning like a fool as he walked around it hoping to take in the smell of it before letting it out. It smelled really odd and he was sure it had soiled the cage which he hoped to god he was wrong and it just smelled that d*mn bad. "this was a forest right and it had monsters on top of that. Then why is it so quiet out here woods and forested areas usually had a little bit more noise than this. and that was a bare minimum on the decibel levels. I'd better keep an eye out for anything strange besides the groin crushing teacher over there that is." Anthony thought looking over at Giovia a little bit too obvious at observing his surroundings but he then made it look like he'd suddenly lost interest in the woods. He looked at the switch on the ground and started to twirl the fencing blade he had made earlier in the trip out here. Anthony hit the switch then jumped out of the way as the creature charged him. Anthony landed on the ground hard but rolled out of it onto his feet. He spun to face the creature rather quickly but it was coming at him again trying to run him through just as Xavier said it would. Anthony charged It and gave a loud yell his armor he had constructed fell in front of him and formed two steps which he used to jump over the creature. "En Garde!" Anthony yelled landing in the fencing stance he slashed at the creatures leg and made quite the mark but that tail came around and broke his left wrist sending the sword flying but Anthony had already backed up a bit. He then Changed the loaded gun he had made for another fencing blade. "Foolish beast. Upon hearing this the creature seems to be confused and stops for a minute looking at Anthony. "I..... am not left handed." Anthony said with a grin as he twirled the sword and then threw it up rolling past the creature but this time he didn't stand up while behind it until the tail had passed over him. After the tail had passed he ran forwards and jumped landing on it's back he then stabbed it in the back thigh before being shook off. " I suggest you run before I get bored.

Mars bit his lower lip as the group made their way to the area in which they would battle. It may have been his imagination, but the forest seemed a lot more... well, he wasn't sure what it was like, but it wasn't normal. He remembered things being a lot more lively from the times they'd traveled here in the past years. Was it just the time of year, or a new predator, or was it just his mind over-analyzing things again? He'd never payed much attention to the surroundings before, so the last option seemed likely. Still, he couldn't help but feel things were different, and instinctively turned to look over at Lyra and her partner. He wasn't too worried about her since she wouldn't be doing the fighting and had experience just like him, but having a new partner always brought new variables. The possibility of danger was quite real. What are you doing? Stop worrying about someone else, you never do that. Mars turned his head to focus on the path ahead. Just focus on the fight for now, figure out everything else later.

"Alright. Here's what's going to happen. Everyone and their partners are going to go up to a cage. Stand about ten feet away, and beneath your feet, you will find a switch. Flicking this switch will open the cage, thus beginning your battle."

Mars examined the caged creatures intently as Xavier explained what they were. All in all, they seemed like a bunch of push overs, though that was to be expected for the first collaboration mission of the year. Sure, they had powerful claws and sharp horns, but none of that mattered if they were slow. If it can't hit you it can't use its weapons. Add the fact that it apparently had little protection made it seem weak. He was always more of a speed fighter anyways, so taking one of them out, he assumed, would have been extremely easy for him. Of course, it wasn't him doing the fighting this time, and he had no idea exactly how Kahra fought, but these things should be easy enough even for an amateur. He still wouldn't underestimate it though, and would treat it like any other creature.

Walking by each individual cage and looking at them, he stopped in front of a creature that interested him the most. He didn't know why, but this one seemed to exude a certain air of confidence, never breaking eyesight. Standing as close as he could without feeling in danger, Mars took a seat in front of the cage with his legs crossed, eyeing it down. It seemed to have a fiery look in its eyes, one of anger and one of strength. "You, I like you. To bad I can't be the one to fight." He stood back up and called out to his partner. "Hey, Kahra! I've got a good one over here for you!" He took his place a few feet to the right of the switch, coming up with strategies. He had one that just came into his head, but it seemed like it would be cheating. If he could trap the creature inside its cage using a fire or ice barrier, it would be helpless to attacks from outside the cage, and since the fight began when the cage opened, it was technically legal. Still there was possible room for error, and would likely result in poor marks, so he kept it to himself. He doubted she would come up with the same idea. "So, Kahra. A few suggestions, though you may have already realized. If possible, be very wary of the tail. An extra appendage is always trouble. Also, when going in for the kill, go in from the sides as to avoid the claws. Just tell me whenever you're ready and I can give you that fire armor and possibly a vortex, though whether you want it around yourself, the enemy, or not at all is up to you. Feel free to pitch in any last minute ideas, though when you flip that switch planning times over."

~Basic Combat 101~

~Kahra~

The atmosphere of the forest wasn't at all what Kahra imagined it to be. In her mind, it had been an almost. . .magical sort of feel. But that wasn't how it felt at all. . .she wanted to cry, the mood was so somber. As if she could feel an awful sadness that wasn't her own. But if it wasn't her own, whose was it? Kahra was hardly making any sense in her mind, but as she walked, she couldn't help but look down at her feet and hug her arms. She bit back tears, even though she had no reason to cry. She didn't like the forest, and hardly thought that she would be able to make it out without having a completely breakdown.

After what seemed like a lifetime, the group had emerged from the forest and into the clearing that Giovia had spoken of. Looking up, Kahra quickly noticed all of the many cages. She listened in silence to Xavier's words as she stared wide-eyed at the creatures, placing a hand over her stomach. Why did she suddenly feel like this? Kahra bit her lip, remaining frozen as Mars went off (to find a cage for them, no doubt). She hugged her arms or another moment, and then slapped herself across the face.

"What are you doing?" she muttered to herself.

"Hey, Kahra! I've got a good one over here for you!"

Kahra looked up towards the direction of Mars's voice, and broke into a strange trot to get to him. She looked at the creature, swallowing hard as it stared at her angrily.

Kahra nodded, quickly pulling out an apple that had been sitting in her loose pocket. She held it in front of her face, and closed her eyes for a moment. When she opened them, her pupils shrunk to the size of pin-points as the apple crackled and morphed into a completely crystallized dagger. Her eyes returned to normal, and she quickly examined her new weapon.

"This should do." she smiled. She looked back up at Mars, and then the monster, before saying, "Alright. As soon as I flick that switch, you need to create the fire armor. I will have already started to push away some of the elements. If you send it too early, I will catch on fire and be burned. If you send it to late, my pushing of the elements will be completely useless, as there would be nothing to push. . .and I'll catch on fire. PLEASE don't screw up."

With that she approached the switch, carefully placing her hand on it. She looked back at Mars, and said, "The exact moment that cage opens, you set me on fire. . .I'll count."

Kahra took a deep breath, and began.

"Three. . .two. . .one. . .GO, Mars!" Kahra yelled, forcing down the switch. Her pupils dilated again as she started to push away the elements and the cage door swung open, the roar of an infuriated monster filling the air as he began to charge.

((AshenLily! I am most likely going to put Geno in Lyra and Cylva's group, so I'm not posting until tomorrow for Lyra!))

Mars watched with great intrigue as she morphed an ordinary apple into a weapon. Her eyes while doing this gave her a slightly intimidating look, and he could hardly hide the fact that he was quite impressed. Of course, it was just something simple and wouldn't change the whole dynamic of the fight, but it was still cool. With an enemy like this, a dagger seemed just fine. Anything ranged would be a little overkill, as it was apparently slow and would likely be a sitting target.

"Alright.

Mars wasn't too worried, as he was certain he wouldn't mess up something as simple as timing. It wouldn't take long for him to apply the armor either, just as long as it took him to snap his fingers. "Trust me, when you get to know me better, you'll know that I DON'T screw up." He rolled his neck as he confidently prepared the cage to open.

"The exact moment that cage opens, you set me on fire. . .I'll count."

Mars nodded, keeping one eye on the monster and one eye on Kahra. He would need to focus on both so he could get the timing for the armor right as well as put up a barrier for the likely to charge creature.

"Three. . .two. . .one. . .GO, Mars!"

The second he was ordered to, Mars snapped his fingers, causing flames to completely envelope Kahra. It was quite a sight for him, seeing someone he lit on fire using it as protection instead of screaming in pain He seemed to have timed the technique perfectly, but had to immediately focus his attention back onto the charging monster. Reacting quickly, he raised his hands high up into the air, erecting a wall of hot flames between his partner and her opponent. The creature visibly recoiled as it reached the wall, letting out a pained shriek as it was singed from the pure heat of the barrier. It raised its claws to protect its face as to avoid being further burned and brought its tail up, leaving it vulnerable. At this point he would shoot a piercing flame vortex at its cranium and be done with the fight, but he had to restrain himself, as they were being judged on their performance, not the ability to finish the fight. He would just have to support Kahra during the fight when and if she needed it.

(Bold: Because I don't know how to do colours.)

Mirabelle Ami

Ami stared blankly at the cage of the monster before her; She wasn't sure whether she wanted to leave it be or let it out. Maybe she could draw her partner in by starting the fight ahead of time.

...Although it didn't seem she had the luxury of making that choice. Suddenly the beast inside the cage hit the cage's door with its head - Very hard, from what Ami saw - And knocked it off, breaking the hinges and sending the door flying to the side as it flew open with great force. Ami yelped and jumped to her feet as the monster charged toward her - She jumped aside to avoid the thing as it continued in the direction she had been in moments ago. Ami stumbled to her feet and clenched her fists - She had no weapon, but she would have to make do.

Ami looked the creature dead in the eyes, put on her best smile and thought the most alluring thoughts she possibly could; The beast charged toward her, its tail flailing back and forth aggressively and the horns on its head getting closer and closer...

And it pounced on her. It didn't work?!

Ami landed flat on her back with her hair strewn out behind her head... She shut her eyes to avoid seeing what would inevitably come. The monster was heavy, too heavy for her to lift. She was having trouble breathing with this thing on her chest anyways, so how could she hope to lift it with her full strength? She tried nonetheless, but it wasn't working.

What do I do now? Ami held the creature's face just far enough to keep it from tearing her apart, but she was unsure of how long she could keep doing so.

~Lyra~

"Well... I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be. How about yourself?"

Lyra frowned upon seeing her partners discomfort. She obviously wasn't very hot on the idea of killing anything, so Lyra couldn't help but say, "Hey, remember what Xavier said. It's not about whether we kill the monster or not. . .it's about how well you fight, and how well I protect."

She sucked in her cheeks, now trying to think of a way to protect the girl. She was melee, so she couldn't make a wall. . .the staircase out of the Earth probably wasn't a very good idea either. What could she do? The idea of immobilizing the creature crossed Lyra's mind for a moment. . .yes, she might do that. But it would be able to break free very quickly, so Cylva would have to move fast.

"I'm ready." Lyra said, taking the same stance she did when she was fighting Mars. Her shoulder was still hurting, so the would slightly limit what she'd be able to do, but it was fine. It's not like Xavier and Giovia would give them something that would be too difficult as their first collaboration project, right?

"Hit the switch." Lyra said, the ground giving a slight rumble as she said the words. She was ready.

~Basic Combat 101~

~Kahra~

As Kahra felt the heat of flames swirling around her, all she could do was pray that this technique work. . .but she didn't have time to wait and see. She girl immediately lunged for the creature as it charged her, narrowing avoiding its horns as she slashed her dagger across one of its eyes. It was probably useless to do that, as creatures like these probably relied more on their sense of smell than their sense of sight. By this time, Kahra knew that the fire armor had worked. . .

Only she hadn't accounted for the limited amount of oxygen she had. Nor did she realize it at that moment.

The creature let out a pain filled roar as one of it's eyes was blinded, wildly swinging its tail. Kahra avoiding the first swing, but wasn't ready when the heavy appendage came slashing back. It slammed into the back of her knees, knocking her legs from under her. The monsters let out another roar as its tail was burned, and backed up slightly. Kahra stood up, relieved that her legs weren't crushed by the impact. They were sore now, yes, but not broken. The creature charged again.

This is when she realized there was limited oxygen in the suit.

"TAKE IT OFF!" she couched as the creature attacked again. She was hardly able to get her dagger up in time to clash with the horns of the Nor'zlad, and something happened the Kahra wouldn't have ever expected in a million years.

Her dagger shattered.

She hadn't accounted for the fact the diamond was good for stabbing, not clashing. So now she was running out of air, weaponless, and being charged by some wild beast.

"Mars, help me!" she coughed, narrowly dodging another attack. Her power wasn't good for combat. . .actually, in her opinion, her power wasn't good for anything. The girl was hardly able to keep the fire from touching her skin at this point.

~Rafaela~

Rafaela eyed the monster with wondering eyes. She had never seen something like this. It was truly amazing. And quite scary. But amazing nonetheless. She glanced towards Isaak, realizing that a partner was missing. Well, they needed that girl... Maria, was it? She was the one to make the sure that none of their asses got hit by those huge horns. Rafaela didn't appreciate that thought. She breathed deeply, and then...

"MARIA SOMETHINGSOMETHING! I SUGGEST YOU TO BRING YOUR PRETTY BUTT TO WHERE I AM NOW. I'M RAFAELA AND I'M WITH IZAAK RICHASS. YOU SEE, I DON'T WANT MY BEAUTIFUL BUTT GETTING HORNED BY A CREATURE." She paused, as if thinking, before adding up. "NOT THAT I DISCRIMINATE."

Rafaela breathed deeply, catching her breath. She looked at Izaak with a look of triumph, putting her hands on her hips.

"Now, we wait." She grinned.

Maria Scarlette

"MARIA SOMETHINGSOMETHING!"

Maria's head perked up. She looked around in the crowd, but she failed to find the source of the call. "Er, hello?" She muttered awkwardly and rather quietly.

"I SUGGEST YOU TO BRING YOUR PRETTY BUTT TO WHERE I AM NOW. I'M RAFAELA AND I'M WITH IZAAK RICHASS. YOU SEE, I DON'T WANT MY BEAUTIFUL BUTT GETTING HORNED BY A CREATURE."

"What?" Maria turned around to look at herself - At her rather unflattering butt. No matter what people thought of her butt, she had to find... Wait, those were her partners, weren't they? Maria dashed off in the direction she thought the voice came from and found the two. "Sorry," Maria's cheeks turned a little pink. "I couldn't find you two. But, er, 'pretty butt'?"

Maria waved the thought away. Her butt was the least of their worries.

"So," Maria started, "I'm Maria Scarlette - It's a pleasure to meet you, Rafaela and Izaak. What might your powers be, and how can I support them?" She wasn't quite sure what she could do to help in battle aside from use a weapon. She could always use the power she was given in her evaluation - Which made her sick to think about, but it was all she knew how to do.

Perhaps she could shield them somehow? Or maybe she could just try and distract the thing, or hold it in place... The first thought that came to mind from holding it in place was herself on the back of this thing flailing back and forth as it ran around uncontrollably. Maria shuddered and brushed the thought away... Again. This isn't going to be fun, is it?

Mirabelle Ami

The monster on her chest didn't seem to be doing anything. It was standing still, it seemed. Ami opened her eyes and looked at the thing - It had a bitter look in its eyes, yes, but wouldn't it have done something by now if it meant her harm? Yet all it was doing was standing on her... No, sitting. It was simply sitting on her, and she couldn't do anything about it.

"Could you please get off?" Ami exchanged bitter looks with the monster, which snapped its jaws in her face - It just managed to miss her nose. "Okay, okay, we do things your way!" Ami moved her arms so her hands rested on her stomach, near the creature's back legs. "So now what? I've used my power... I can't do anything else with you. Am I just a monster bed now?"

At that the creature curled up into a ball, slapping her across the face with its tail in the process, and fell asleep. Incessant and loud snores could be heard from the creature on her stomach as it slept. Ami struggled to breathe again, which seemed to be the only threat this thing posed at this point. "I'm going to take that as a yes." Her hands were underneath the monster, which she couldn't even hope to lift, so her hands were stuck.

Suddenly Ami noticed the creature had a spiny tail, and she was lucky that it didn't hit her that hard. It still hurt, yes, but her cheek wasn't bleeding, luckily. Ami let her head rest against the ground and she sighed.

(Because I forgot to post for Ami when I first made this post. Ech.)

Well, here they were. In a meadow filled with a bunch of monsters in cages. He'd love to get started, but he couldn't seem to find his partner. He was starting to get a bit worried, too. Used to be he didn't care at all what grades he got, but when he for once thought he could do alright, he wanted to be able to prove it, and he couldn't do that without her, could he? Geez, he had already forgotten her name, too. He scratched his chin. What to do, what to do.. His eyes met the eyes of one of the monsters. He raised an eyebrow, but the big creature didn't seem to have any idea what the motion meant. He walked over to the cage, and squatted just out of reach of the flailing monster.

He'd always had a soft spot for animals, but this thing was different. It reminded him of an oversized insect, set on killing him. 'What a pointless creature..' He thought. 'What reason for existing do you have..? Living just to live.. Or are you just scared of death?' He smirked at his own thought. He whispered quietly "Yeah, me too." Of course, the monster probably didn't know english, or it just didn't let on that it did. He sighed and stood back up.

He glanced over the field. He Mars and some girl seemingly having a problem with theirs far over there. Mars always seemed pretty resourceful. He'd expected him to be done first, actually. His train of thought stopped when he caught a glimpse of Calista. She was standing by another boy. Geno felt the sting he recognized to be jealousy. And he felt worse for feeling bad about it. That guy hadn't done anything against him yet, and hadn't hurt Calista by the looks of it, so there was no reason for him to be feeling that way. Ugh, feelings were difficult.

He forced his attention back to the monster. He suddenly had a pretty strong urge to hurt something, but his partner wasn't here yet...

Wait, could he do it alone? I mean, if that thing was as weak as they described it, he didn't feel too worried about the whole ordeal at all. Some people had already let theirs loose, and they did indeed look pretty slow. He waited about 30 seconds, and since he still hadn't spotted his partner, he quickly ran out of patience after getting such an exciting idea, so he walked over to the combat teacher. "Hey.. Uh.. Xa... X.. Mr. Caige. I can't seem to find my partner, is it alright if I do this on my own? I'd like to give it a shot."

Mars watched as Kahra took out half of the creatures vision. He was a little puzzled, as something seemed different about the armor that he had given his partner and the armor he used on himself. It looked exactly how it always looked and functioned how it usually functioned, but he couldn't help but have a nagging feeling that something was off. Watching as Kahra's legs were taken out from under her, he got ready to assist her in some way.

"TAKE IT OFF!"

That was it. He always had his suit of fire on in short bursts, usually when he went in for a finishing blow. Too much time and he would run out of air to breathe. Why he didn't think of that this time was beyond him. Heck, he even had a technique that consisted of starving his foe of oxygen. With her weapon breaking shortly after, he knew that she was in trouble. This was where Mars started to panic slightly. How was he supposed to help her without killing the thing or acting as an attacker? He could maybe set up barriers, but how would that change her current position of not having a weapon? Freezing it or taking out its legs were a possibility, but would that be considered helping too much? His mind wasn't built for support, it was built for fighting.

This is the first class, we're supposed to learn. One bad mark isn't going to change everything. With that, Mars extended his right arm and cooled the temperature around his partner, canceling out the flame coffin she was entrapped in. He winced slightly, feeling his arm begin to sting. Not caring, he immediately turned his attention to the Nor'zlad and, without hesitation, launched a powerful ball of fire at the creature. The impact engulfed it in flames and caused it to tumble multiple times on its side until stopping on its back. There were only a few seconds of roaring until the creature went silent, fried and dead.

Mars clutched his right arm to his chest with a pained expression. For one, his arm seemed to not be holding out well. What bothered him the most though was his inability to think of a way to provide adequate support. He didn't doubt that there were ways that the situation could have been salvaged, as there were a few sharp sticks and branches on the ground that could have been used as makeshift weapons. If he'd gotten close enough to freeze its feet and tossed one of them to Kahra, she may have been able to kill the creature herself. Instead, he had let his pride get the best of him once again. He simply stayed silent, pondering other ways it could have been handled.

"Hit the switch."

Cylvaara nodded and hesitated for just a moment. As the cage opened, the creature warily glanced around, unsure as to whether or not its freedom was a trap. Finally setting its eyes on Cylva, the Nor'zlad roared, and charged straight at her. From what she'd seen of the creatures the other groups had started fighting, the initial charge could be fairly quick, but after that, the creatures were incredibly slow, as noted by the professor.

Cylva jumped to the left as the creature drew nearer, planning to attack from the side once she'd recovered. As the creature charged past her, she'd realize she'd overlooked one small detail. The tail. Hurtling through the air, she was surprised to feel a sharp pain in her leg, and heard a loud crack, as the tail made contact with her leg.

Losing her balance at the unexpected contact, she landed sprawled on the ground, her leg throbbing in agony. While it didn't feel broken from the glancing blow, it definitely hurt.

Looking up, Cylva was surprised to see that the creature had already turned, and was nearly upon her. She tried to stand to face it, but her now injured leg gave out, and she collapsed back onto the ground. As the creature approached, it released a menacing roar, and lunged at her with one of its large claws. Instinctively, she raised her left arm in a defensive manner, as the Nor'zlad gripped her forearm firmly in its claw. The creature tightened its grip around her crystalline arm. Though she could feel the pressure of the claw, and feel the excruciating pain as it tightened its grip, the crystal seemed to be holding up. For the time being...

~Kahra/Professor Xavier Caige~

Kahra, just as she felt as if she couldn't hold out any longer, was suddenly released from the blazes that had engulfed in. She coughed, sputtering for air as she looked for something. . .anything to fight with. The monster was ready to charge at her again, without a weapon and hardly able to breathe. At that moment, something hot and bright whizzed passed her face, and the creature was suddenly swallowed up by flames. The girl knew it was Mars, who else could it have been?

Kahra watched, horrified, as the creature twitched and roasted to a slow and painful death. The girl backed up slightly, typically stumbling and tripping over her own feet and onto her butt. She placed both hands over her mouth as the creatures roars faded to painful squeaks to dead silence. She hadn't realized how scared she had been until it had all ended, and couldn't help but cry. Kahra buried her face in her hands, bringing her knees to her chest as she did. Even though crying was something Kahra did on a daily basis, she didn't like feeling weak, even though she had just proven it to both Mars and Xavier.

"What the hell happened over here?" Xavier yelled as he quickly approached the injured boy, the crying girl, and the fried up monster. He took a moment to take it all in. . .he had seen Mars blast the monster, but wasn't he in Healing and Protection 101? Why was he attacking? And why was Kahra crying? Xavier sighed, and rubbed his temples, kneeling down beside the girl. She was the youngest person in his class, and she had probably never been in a situation even close to the one she'd just been thrown in. He couldn't help but feel bad. The man was incredibly bad at comforting people, but this girl was Kinya's sister. He shouldn't have assumed that she was as skilled as her sister. . .but he placed a sympathetic hand on her shoulder anyway and said, "Kahra, it's alright. Don't cry about it, it was just one screw up. . .and hey, just be grateful that Mars was able to save your butt."

Kahra looked up and frowned, saying, "I-I am grateful. . .but. . .you know i-it's bad when a Healing and Protection student is a better fighter than you. . ."

She sobbed, placing her hands back over her eyes. Xavier sighed, and said, "Well. . .maybe. . .and this is a crazy idea, and I need to talk to Giovia about it. . .but maybe both of you would benefit from it greatly if you switched places. You can transfer over to Giovia, and I can take Mars."

Kahra looked up, wiping away a stray tear, but couldn't think of anything to say.

"I mean, Mars." Xavier said, standing up and offering a hand to Kahra, who took it gratefully and pulled herself up. "You're power is very similar to my own. . .and really, you'd do a lot better in my class. I can teach you my techniques. . .well, some of them. I can't just go off telling the world my secrets."

The man glanced at Kahra again, and said, ". . .and you, Kahra. . .I don't know if you know this, but your sister and I were collaboration partners not that long ago. That girl really knows how to keep a person safe, I have to say. . .surely there must be some of that in you, right?"

Kahra's breath was still hitching, but she nodded. She'd like to think that she was like her sister. . .and hey, Xavier was a professor. He probably knew what was best, didn't he?

"Hey, maybe she can even pass on some of her techniques. You two are both very talented, and together, you have the potential to be the. . .why, you have the potential to be the next Xavier and Kinya!"

The man laughed, placing both hands on his hips. He glanced at Mars and said, "Of course, you'll never be as good as me, Mars. . .but you could be close. . ."

"Hey.. Uh.. Xa... X.. Mr. Caige. I can't seem to find my partner, is it alright if I do this on my own? I'd like to give it a shot."

Xavier turned, saying, "Oi! That's Professor Caige to you! I will also accept Your Hotness or Sir Epicsauce."

The man cleared his throat, and then thought about Geno's question.

"Well. . .if you are absolutely confident that you can, of course. Though I would ask Giovia--I mean, Professor Eriwind to keep an extra close eye on you, alright?"

~Healing and Protection 101~

~Lyra~

As the fight began, Lyra couldn't do much but pray that nothing went wrong. . .and if it did, she already had a plan, even if it was a little bit crazy. Her feet were firmly planted in the ground a safe distance away from where the battle was going to take place, her hands both raised slightly. Her eyes wandered over to a fairly large rock not far from where she was standing, which could be pretty useful if worst came to worst.

Fliiiick creaaak!

Lyra look up as the switch opened the door of the cage, and the girl was slightly taken aback when she saw how quickly the monster charged out. Well, it wasn't fast, just like Xavier had said. . .but it did look heavy, and could probably to some serious damage with its tail.

Just as Lyra thought that, Cylva had jumped out of the creatures path. . .and the President was horrified to see it's tail ripping through the air, ready to strike her partner's leg.

"CYLVA!" Lyra screamed. But it was too late. With a loud crack, contact was made and Cylva was sent sprawling to the ground. This is when Lyra jumped into action. She looked back at the rock she had spotted only moments ago as the creature started to charge back at Cylva. Lyra threw her hand out towards the rock and closed his fist, as if she was grabbing an invisible wire that connected to the rock. By this time, the Nor'Zlad was already gripping Cylva's crystallized arm in its claw. With all her might, Lyra slung the boulder at the creature, easily knocking it away from Cylva. The girl sprung towards her partner, knowing she only had a few seconds before the Nor'zlad was ready to charge again.

"Hang on!" Lyra said to her partner, her tone more urgent than she meant it to be as she wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulders. Lyra pushed her free hand, which slowly coiled into a fist, into the air. The girl cried out in pain as her injured shoulder was strained. The crackling and snapping of roots breaking could hardly be heard over the rumbling of the ground as the ground beneath the two began to rise into a pillar, much like that ones that Lyra had used earlier. This time, the girl stopped at about 20 feet so it wouldn't collapse. . .and it seemed as if the ground here was far more compact than at Hawthorne, so Lyra trusted that it would hold up.

"Cylva, I am so sorry!" Lyra squeaked, pulling her arm from the girls shoulders and placing her hand on her own. "I wasn't able to warn you in time about the tail. . .ugh, it's all my fault. Your leg. . .is it broken?"

There was a furious roar from beneath them, and the Nor'zlad helplessly clawed at the sides of the pillar. Lyra really hoped the thing couldn't climb.

Cylva gasped with relief as the pressure on her forearm was suddenly released, everything moving at too fast of a pace for her to completely register what was going on. The next thing she knew, she was on a pillar of earth, approximately 20 feet in the air. Cylva hated heights.

"Cylva, I am so sorry! I wasn't able to warn you in time about the tail. . .ugh, it's all my fault. Your leg. . .is it broken?"

She nodded slightly in response to the girl's question. "Y-yeah. I'm alright. And no, it's my fault. I completely forgot about the tail. I'm fairly certain it isn't broken." She stood gingerly, wincing as she put her weight on her leg, but verifying that it didn't appear to be broken. Again realizing how high up they were, she quickly laid down on her stomach, peering over the edge. "Umm... Thank you for probably saving my life, and all, but is there any way we can get down?" The girl's worry over how high up they were was nearly comical, considering she'd been in danger of possibly losing a limb just a few moments before. "And I still need to fight. I understand that we don't need to kill the creature, but I'd hardly say nearly getting my leg broken, and my arm removed would give me very good marks..." her voice trailed off, as she stared at the creature below. "Take us down. I can fight."

"Oi! That's Professor Caige to you! I will also accept Your Hotness or Sir Epicsauce." Sometimes Geno wondered what qualified this man for his post, other than his combative skills. He gave the teacher a bothered look, and said "I think I'll keep to professor ca- Nevermind." He didn't want to accidently hurt his ego, so he stopped himself. He leaned slightly to the side, and inspected the two people behind her. He hadn't paid too much attention, but it definitely looked like Mars had bailed the girl out the for a second, and as far as Geno knew, Mars was in the healing class. Strange, you'd think someone with Mars' capabilites would be in combat.

"Well. . .if you are absolutely confident that you can, of course. Though I would ask Giovia--I mean, Professor Eriwind to keep an extra close eye on you, alright?" He actually got a little smile on his face. It almost sounded like the professor had some confidence in him, and that appealed to his ego, whether he liked it or not. "Alright, cool. I'll be sure to tell her before I get myself killed." He said, and then turned around to look for Giovia immediately. He spotted her a bit away, and sprinted to hurry things along.

"Hey, excuse me.." ... Uh, what was her name? What Caige just call her? Seriously, it was like two seconds ago. Oh, but for gods sake Geno, you dumbass. ".. Professor. Professor Caige told me I should tell you that I'm going alone against my monster, and that it'd be nice if you kept an eye on me, so I don't die or something dumb like that. Does that sit right with you?" He said, while almost standing like he was saluting her, minus the arm gesture.

The Irishman couldn't hold his anticipation, albeit it didn't feel like his to begin with. But nonetheless, a pair of beating, dark yellow iris' dominated the eyes of Luke Bell. Taking what she said into account, it seems like melting that things face off was simply not good enough. And he had the perfect idea how to deal with the beast. He would make it drown in a shadow, using his gift to simply drag it's feet from underneath the animal until nothing but a head is left. Then, maybe she would be able to burn it's face off, that sounded like perfect ending to a rather short-story. This feeling of anger didn't subside one bit, in fact, it's rage only continued to grow at every passing moment the beast was locked in it's cage. Oddly enough, Luke felt like the one that was trapped in a cage. Dropping his bag to the ground, he walked up beside Gwen and placed a firm hand on her shoulder.

"I think I have a plan that may involve melting it's face so listen to me if you're willing," he began, clearing his throat before continuing in his dialogue, "If you were to agitate it in such a way that it would charge, make sure you would be in line with a tree as I mentioned before. Then, when it's stunned from the impact, I'll use my ability to drag it's feet downwards until there's nothing but the head left. Then, you can do what you want with it. We could either kill it, or leave let it live. I'll leave the choice to you if you don't mind. If you have anything else you'd like to add, I'm very much open to hear them!"

From her accent, it was quite obvious she was English, and although she wasn't Irish, it none the less warmed his heart that was somebody close to home here. Although if there was another person from the Emerald Isle, Luke himself would be bursting for joy with excitement, considering how much they could actually talk about. But since that wasn't the case, an Englishwoman was better then nothing in his opinion. Well, he hoped that they would get along; in his eyes, he didn't see a reason why they couldn't!

With enough time wasted, he felt it was time to start the show.

Mars stared at the burning crisp that was once a living creature, contemplating what had just happened. It seemed that his initial fears were correct, and though Kahra had everything down in theory, the application of it all was sub par. It wasn't a surprising turn of events, but it was definitely a disappointing one. That meant that he, with his built-for-combat mindset and ability, would need to protect someone who seemed would be better doing the support. The fact that she was crying didn't help her case. Fighting wasn't easy, and mistakes were common when first beginning. If she wasn't able to handle this, at least emotionally, then things would only get harder.

"What the hell happened over here?"

His eyes were drawn away from the burning corpse as Xavier approached. He was no doubt confused by the fact that a healing and protection student had just attacked and killed a target designated for one of his students.Mars knew he had messed up big time, and even though things wouldn't be easy, he wanted to prove he could actually protect someone. Luckily, the professor seemed to concern himself with comforting Kahra first, which was good since Mars had no idea how to handle that situation without making her feel worse. Well, whatever punishment or penalty to his mark that was to come, he would be ready to take it, and become better as to make this whole event a distant thought.

"Well. . .maybe. . .and this is a crazy idea, and I need to talk to Giovia about it. . .but maybe both of you would benefit from it greatly if you switched places. You can transfer over to Giovia, and I can take Mars."

"Wait what?" Mars could hardly believe what he was hearing. This is exactly what he had wanted since he'd been forced into this class, and what he thought was a poor decision on his part seemed to get him exactly what he'd wanted. There was a hint of disappointment that he wouldn't be able to prove his worth in the field of protection, but he could work on that during his free time. He didn't care if Kahra wanted it or not, and he wasn't about to let this chance slide by him. "Yeah, I like the sound of that! Our strengths seem better suited for the opposite field than we are currently in, so a swap seems just perfect!" He looked at Xavier first, and then Kahra, seeing what she thought of the whole thing. Her nod seemed rather promising.

"Of course, you'll never be as good as me, Mars. . .but you could be close. . ."

Mars couldn't help but let out a laugh of his own. "Close? We'll see about that! Give me a year and I'll be the best this school has ever seen!" He was surprised how well things seemed to work out for him. His partner was intelligent and had lots of potential, and now he had the possibility to be put into the class he'd been wanting to get in since the year began. Mars looked at Kahra and spoke. "Well, what do you think? He's right, you have a lot of potential at being an ace support. Things may not have went the way you had wanted them to today, but if this thing pans out and our spots switch, I can see a horizon of success waiting for us!"

"Y-yeah. I'm alright. And no, it's my fault. I completely forgot about the tail. I'm fairly certain it isn't broken."

Lyra looked up at Cylva as she stood, rising all well. She was ready to catch the girl if she fell, since Lyra didn't know if her injured leg could handle the weight she was putting on it. After her partner seemed fairly steady, Lyra was a bit shocked when the girl was suddenly on her stomach, peering over the edge of the pillar and down at the ground.

"Umm... Thank you for probably saving my life, and all, but is there any way we can get down?"

Lyra couldn't help but laugh at that, and said, "Yes, Cylva. I'll just force the pillar back into the ground. . .though it'll be one wild ride, I have to say. . ."

"And I still need to fight. I understand that we don't need to kill the creature, but I'd hardly say nearly getting my leg broken, and my arm removed would give me very good marks..."

"Hey, I can promise you that Xavier and Giovia value your safety over a stupid grade." Lyra sighed, kneeling back down beside the girl. "You don't have to fight anymore. They saw your effort. Besides, this is the first collaboration. . .it's mostly just to evaluate our powers and how well we can use them in this situation. You did your best--"

"Take us down. I can fight."

"And what kind of protector would I be if I let you fight in this condition?" Lyra said firmly, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Your safety is my priority here. If we got down now, this beast will charge you again, and you might not be so lucky this time. . .there has to be another way. . ."

Lyra peered over the edge of the pillar and down at the monster, who was wailing angrily, circling the pillar. Lyra's eyes eventually drew back to the rock she had hurled at the beast only moments ago. Could she do it again? No. . .the rock only stalled the monster for a few seconds. That wouldn't be enough time.

"Any suggestions?"

~Professor Giovia Eriwind~

"Hey, excuse me..."

Giovia turned towards the voice, her long, ebony hair swishing over her shoulder as she did. She raised her eyebrows at the boy who had addressed her, and asked, "Yes?"

"...Professor. Professor Caige told me I should tell you that I'm going alone against my monster, and that it'd be nice if you kept an eye on me, so I don't die or something dumb like that. Does that sit right with you?"

Giovia raised an eyebrow, and asked, "What happened to your partner? You know what, don't answer that. Hm, well. . .if Xavier thinks it's alright, then I'll keep watch over you. You're his student, after all. . .just be careful, alright? I'll act as your protector. . .if you get hurt, I'll heal you. The usual, alright? Just try your best to. . .NOT get hurt. . .I don't exactly feel my best when I'm healing others, alright? So don't be reckless."

~Professor Xavier Caige/Kahra~

Kahra watched the exchange between Xavier and Mars silently. Her partner seemed pretty excited about the switch, and Kahra was happy about that. . .but her? What could she do with her power that would prove to be any use as far as protecting someone went? She didn't know. . .and even though Kinya had been one of the best protectors when she was in school, both sisters had very different powers. It wasn't like Kinya would just be able to pass on amazing techniques or anything. . .

"Well, what do you think? He's right, you have a lot of potential at being an ace support. Things may not have went the way you had wanted them to today, but if this thing pans out and our spots switch, I can see a horizon of success waiting for us!"

Kahra looked up at Mars, completely stunned by his enthusiasm. She had. . .potential. . .? Kahra looked down at her feet and thought for a moment. If they did switch. . .and they did end up being an incredible team. . .Kinya might want to have something to do with her sister! Kahra felt a sudden wave of motivation wash over her, and she grinned, grabbing Mars's hand and shaking it.

"I think it's a great idea!" she grinned. "We'll be the greatest team this school has ever seen!"

Xavier cleared his throat.

Kahra glanced over at the professor, and then corrected herself.

"The second greatest."

Xavier nodded approvingly, and then said, "I'll mention it to Giovia after class. Mars, instead of going to Healing and Protection tomorrow, come to my class. And Kahra, you go to Healing and Protection instead, alright?"

"What happened to your partner? You know what, don't answer that. Hm, well. . .if Xavier thinks it's alright, then I'll keep watch over you. You're his student, after all. . .just be careful, alright? I'll act as your protector. . .if you get hurt, I'll heal you. The usual, alright? And don't worry about my partner, heh, nothing's wrong with her as far as I know, she just didn't show up." He didn't wait for an answer, and instead walked over to the switch. The monster was as angry as ever, but it didn't bother him. It might even work out in his favor. He took a deep breath, and kicked the switch.

The cage's door swung open, and the angry beast started making it's way out towards him. Geno let a confident smirk cover his face, and felt the metal running through the soles of his shoes, spreading a pool of black liquid underneath him. When it got about 2 feet in diameter, he decided it was time to start backing away from the beast that was closing in on him. He snapped his fingers once, and taunted the beast, saying "Come'ere, you fat bastard." And it seemed to work. The monster quickened his pace, and headed straight for him. Looked like his plan was gonna work out just fine.

As soon as the monster stepped into his metal puddle, Geno shot his hand straight up, and countless needle sharp spikes shot up out of the puddle, penetrating the monsters left leg in a very painful-looking fashion. Too bad it didn't stop it. Apparently having your entire leg mangled by spikes didn't faze this one. Geno let out a short "Tsh." and dropped his hands down to his sides. The monster was getting uncomfortably close, and he need something to defend himself. Metal running down his arms shaped into clawed gauntlets on his hands. He looked down to make sure that they both were sharp enough to fit his standards, and when he was satisfied, he looked back up and almost got aquainted with the monsters claws.

Had he looked up a second later, this would've sucked real bad, but he instinctively leaned backwards under the monsters swipe, and did half a back flip to get back up on his feet. That hurt his back though. Gwen was always the more acrobatic and athletic out of the two, Geno was just a bit stronger. The monster leaped forward and swiped at him again, and Geno raised both his arms to block to swipe coming at him from the right. Claws clashed with metal, and made a pretty loud sound, but thanks to a thin layer of metal covering his right forearm, he avoided getting a pretty severe cut. The swipe had been violent, and backed with a lot of physical power, but Geno stood strong. Barely.

His savior was that the creature seemed dumb as bricks though. It tried another swipe with it's free arm, almost as if to hug him to death, and didn't stop itself when he held his newly made claws straight out as a defence, and it penetrated it's own arm with Geno's claws. He was now, however, in quite a predicament. His right arm being occupied by a crushing physical force, and his left arm being buried in the creatures arm. Between the heavy breaths, he let out a grunt and lifted his right foot from the ground, slowly trying to create a scythe-like edge on the side of it. Perhaps he could sever one of the creatures arms with a well executed maneuver.

That's when it lowered it's head, and pointed it's horns right at him. His eyes widened, and in a panicked state he switched from creating a sharp blade with his leg, to just solidifying it, and making it a pretty ugly makeshift club attached to his leg instead. He leaned backwards and summoned all the force he could to kick the creature in it's face. The kick sent the monster's head upwards in a jerking fashion, along with the rest of it's body. And Geno, who had supported himself on one leg by holding the monsters two arms, fell backwards, as he lost his supports. In midair during the fall, he was hit violently in the chest with something, and went flying a couple meters away.

He tumbled to the ground with the air knocked out of him, but he looked up just in time to avoid being crushed by the tail that had just swatted him out of the air. He rolled to the side, and struggled to regain his breath. Fortunately, it seemed like the monster was starting to feel his pierced arm and leg, and just seemed to crawl around on the ground for a second. The tail was still on the ground next to Geno, and after half a seconds thought, he decided to create a long spike protruding from his elbow, which he proceeded to elbowdrop onto the monster's tail, nailing it to the ground. He detached the spike from his arm, and sat down on the creature's tail. He placed his hands and feet against it, and growled "That's about enough of this.." as he started making his metal flow up the monster's tail. The monster struggled for a moment, but as soon as the metal completely encased him, Geno froze it, and stopped the animal from moving.

He let out a loud sigh, and staggered around to look the monster in the eyes. He had to lean against it, as the fatigue was really getting to him. The monster looked more like a statue now, but Geno had left holes for the eyes, and mouth, so that it wouldn't die of suffocation. If it even needed air, he wasn't sure. He winced when he felt the pain from his chest, and lifted his shirt to reveal a large bruise with a couple of shallow scratches along his chest. There wasn't a lot of blood, but had he not noticed it, he would've started to feel weak within the hour. He froze the blood on his chest, and looked back at the Monster statue.

He fell backwards into the grass, and looked up at the sky(?), while heavily panting. "You freaking hurt, you know that, you ugly piece of..." He stopped himself. There was no more reason to taunt his opponent, he had already won. And it was juvenile to shout profanity at something that didn't even understand what he said. He got up and placed a hand on it's neck, ready to make spikes run through it's body until it stopped making noises, but something made him hesitate. Who was he to decide who lives and dies? It was only this things unfortunate fate that it had been captured and brought here to an almost certain demise.

While still leaning against it, he turned his head and looked back at Giovia. Heh, he even remembered her name for a second. ".. Do I have to kill it?"

(Sorry, I tend to get overspecific with my fighting scenes.)

Gwen flinched when the boy put his hand on her shoulder. She quickly dusted it off and stepped aside, but didn't comment on it. She did not enjoy being touched by strangers, even in such an innocent way. "If you were to agitate it in such a way that it would charge, make sure you would be in line with a tree as I mentioned before.

She scratched her head after hearing his plan. It didn't sound fool-proof, and she had to point out a couple of things. "They said it was very slow, are you sure it would be fast enough to knock itself stunned against a tree? It's also got those nasty horns that probably absorb the force quite a bit, I don't think that would work. Looks to me like the tree would be the one suffering if that thing came running." She had to think for a while, as she didn't really have a plan of her own, she just liked to wing it. "Well, if you can pull this thing into your shadow or whatever, can't you just do that immediately?... How about this.. If you can get into my shadow, I can probably outmaneuver it, and get into a position were you can slip into it's shadow, and maybe slow it down further?.. At least to begin with, we'll see were we got from that."
