Fantasy Hawthorne Academy

Leona smiled at her, a bit shakily, still glitching every few seconds, making her face begin to turn red. "I'm still sorry... I'm sorry to bother you too... I'm just... really sorry..." She murmured, shaking slightly. She didn't know why she was so nervous. She'd already made friends here, and they didn't seem to mind her. She supposed it was just habit to be afraid of people in general. People were mean. Especially in high school. She shuddered slightly at the memories the thought evoked. "Um... I'm Leona... Leo... Nice to... meet you...?" It came out as a question, and she wondered if it really was nice to meet her.

"I'm still sorry... I'm sorry to bother you too... I'm just... really sorry..." Leona murmured.

"No, no, no! It's all right, really - You don't need to be sorry, Leona," Maria replied, taking one of Leona's hands into her own gently. "Now I should properly introduce myself. My name is Maria Scarlette." Maria shook hands with Leona, assuming she hadn't already pulled her hand away.

"Um... I'm Leona... Leo... Nice to... meet you...?"

"It's nice to meet you too, Leona," Maria added. "Well, now that you're here - What exactly are we supposed to be doing in this class? I don't recall being told..." Maria looked around at the other people in the class again, letting go of Leona's hand in the process.

Leo looked around them, bright green eyes slightly less terrified than they had been. "Um... I'm not... sure what it is we're supposed to be doing, but..." She giggled slightly. "I'm pretty sure it's not taking a nap..." She gave a little half-grin, seeing most of the other students were dozing off on their mats. Suddenly frowning slightly, the redhead wondered when they were going to be told what to do in this class. She figured it would somehow involve meditation, but she didn't think sleep was part of the course...

"Well - If people are sleeping," Maria laid down but didn't shut her eyes, "Why aren't we? I'm exhausted, anyways. I was up really late last night working..." Maria put her hands behind her head for use as an ineffective cushion. "I'm not even quite sure why I chose this class. Maybe I figured I could improve my power, but I'm not even sure why I want to do that in the first place," She explained, seemingly thinking aloud. "But at the same time my evaluation seems to want to kill me off bit by bit until there's nothing left..."

Maria continued to ramble on, alternating between looking to her side at Leona and looking straight up at the roof. Everything seemed so peaceful and perfect - In a way she had not felt for a long time. Even if she would be stuck this way for the rest of her life, she probably wouldn't mind - Something just seemed... Right. Or maybe it was just killing time. Hell if she knew.

Nodding along, Leo frowned a bit. "I don't think the teachers would want your power to kill you... I don't know what your evaluation said, of course, but I don't think the intention is for it to end in your death... Besides, you don't really have to do what it says, right? It's only a suggestion based on what they know you have to offer... Right...?" That was what she hoped. She didn't think she'd be very good at close combat, regardless of what the teacher said. Did he even know about her glitch? If he had, would he still think she was worth teaching? Did he even think she was worth teaching now...?

Killua watched the little scene play out. Should I go say hi? Killua thought. Killua gathered some courage and went to sit next to Leo, and get in on the conversation. "Hi.." Killua said.

Mars had been reading his physics book again and writing down theories in his notebook. His power had its limitations, just like every power. His flames had force and impact, but they weren't enough to destroy anything. Powers like Lyra's earth control completely walled his, making it much harder to work around. However, he had been working on a way to make his flames launch at a higher velocity, thus creating a greater impact. Of course, this wasn't very useful for his new support role that he was now apart of, but he had been working on this for a while, and he wasn't about to give up on it.

Suddenly, he heard a commotion, and as Liam retreated to his office, Mars turned to see Johnathan once again being way to close to Lyra than he should be. Of course, now that he was pretty sure that Lyra was attracted to him, Mars was a lot more agitated than he was before, shifting back around in his seat to ignore the scene. As the two exited the classroom, Mars grit his teeth, then froze in thought.

"Wait, why am I so worked up over this?"

Mars was usually pretty good with letting people do what they wanted without interfering, but this somehow made him uneasy. He wasn't very fond of the impression he had of Johnathan, but he usually wouldn't be worked up by this.

"Maybe it's because I'm a part of the student government with Lyra? That's it!" Mars snapped his fingers together. "As the student president, Lyra has a lot of responsibilities. Getting involved with someone like Johnathan would risk changing her and getting her distracted! I'm so agitated because I'm trying to keep the president focused, that must be why!"

Mars returned to taking notes, jotting down what the teacher had written on the board before he retreated. Mars fidgeted slightly with his pencil as he wrote, slightly twirling it every sentence. Sure, the theory he had made sense, but he couldn't help but feel it wasn't completely accurate, that there was another reason he couldn't, or wouldn't, quite grasp.

Maria glanced over at Killua curiously, flipped over so she was laying on her stomach and stared at him for a few moments. He looks rather interesting, Maria thought, But something seems a bit off about him...

"Hello - I'm sorry if I'm being too loud. I can be a little more quiet if that's what you came over here for," Maria offered. "Or maybe you want to lay down with us? There's room here." Maria rolled over on the mat a little to make room for Killua, resting her head in Leona's lap in the process.

"Um no I just wanted to sit with you guys." Killua said nervously. Killua took a seat next to the girl. Maybe I should have just minded my own business.. Killua thought. Killua shifted uneasily, though it was small enough that most people wouldn't have noticed.

Johnathon was quick yet as gentle as he possibly could be with Lyra, though cringing slightly each time she would feel pain; each jolt from her body he felt in equality. This couldn't be helped, as from the assumed position between their bodies, they were as good as a sandwich. His position, however, was the supreme position; the one in command. At this rate, he was guiding Lyra. He couldn't feel awkward in a situation like this, and he didn't . . . at least, not consciously, though a blush may still have been framed on his cheeks.

Seeing her torn clothes and - even though it was small - blood beneath them chimed his worries. Instinctively he had reached out to protect her, guide her under his wing, and he intended to do so until they reached the infirmary. The moment Lyra and he were out of the classroom, his jaw opened for a volley of questions and concerns. But Lyra beat him to the punch, launching off a swift string of apologies, all of which John felt were unnecessary. He didn't even understand all of what the poor girl was saying. What was this about deepest and unconditional apologies? She had injured herself, not him! Quite suddenly, he said, "Lyra, calm down!" The words had slipped. He didn't actually mean to say them so harshly, but now that they were said he had to continue. "Please Lyra." For the moment he let his arm slip from around her waist and turned so he could face her more directly. It was hard walking the way they were, but even worse communicating. "Lyra," he said again, his tone reaching an even calm. "There is nothing you have to apologize for. You injured yourself didn't you?" His mouth succumbed to a frown. "I cannot see why you should be sorry." For a moment Johnathon's gaze was somber, but then it brightened. "The question of the day is," he chuckled, "Are you alright?"

For now, he had to shut away how he truly felt. Sure, he was worried (the blood on his hand from Lyra's side gave a fright), but he also continued to trouble himself with negative thoughts regarding the day. Seriously, it had only been one day, yet now when all was said and done, his legs trembled slightly. This was a bad feeling John didn't like. ASAP he needed to move past it. The best possible way was to continue with Lyra to the infirmary, which they had been condemned to.

(Terrible post, but I couldn't do much better. Dx Forgive my uber lateness!!)

Geno slowly awakened to the sound of conversation around him. He looked up and recognized that kid from lunch. "Oh, hey... Uh.. Uhhh... What was your name?... Kill-something...." He ran a hand through his hair and and slowly diverted his eyes to right in front of him, and noticed the girl he'd thought he dreamt about. He was a bit confused by the situation and only got out "Wait, you're real?" He went silent for a second, and you could see the cogs slowly moving in his tired skull for a second, and then he facepalmed. "I'm.. I'm sorry. What I said. That was incredibly rude... Sorry."

~Lyra~

"Lyra, calm down! Please Lyra."

Upon hearing the words, Lyra quieted, almost not able to stop herself from looking up in surprise. He hadn't yelled at her, but the harsh tone in his voice did shock her. She looked down, about to utter another apology, when he gently turned her to face him. When he said her name again, her expression softened considerably after he countered his own harshness, realizing that he probably didn't mean for his previous words to come out like they did. It was a little awkward standing like that, being so close to him. He still had his hands on her, probably to be sure she didn't do something stupid like walk into a brick wall, but she kept her hands clasped at her chest...part of her felt like she shouldn't touch him, that he would get angry.

The other part of her didn't care.

As he spoke to her, she said nothing, fixing her eyes on a point between his eyes so she wouldn't say something stupid if she looked at them. She listened carefully, smiling and frowning when he did. She took in what he was saying, and only felt worse about what happened. She had to use all of her willpower not to apologize to him again.

"The question of the day is, are you alright?"

Lyra blinked at him, and then smiled. There was nobody around except them, and he expressed such concern for her, proving that he at least cared a little bit about her...

Take THAT, Mars Porter!

She looked at her hip, which honestly looked worse than when it was fresh. The large bruise around the cut was starting to show signs of blue and purple, and Lyra had a feeling that the bruise was going to hurt more than the cut. She could live with a scratch, at least they don't really hurt once you slap a bandaid on them. Bruises, on the other hand, just felt like death and misery every time someone actual brushed against it.

"I'll survive." she smiled, looking back up at him. "I won't lie, it's really painful...but I think I'll live. Haha, how pathetic am I? Some students might get an injury like this in Basic Combat 101 by being attacked by a monster...but me? I got attacked by a desk."

She laughed at her own words as she said them. She didn't care if nobody laughed at her comments, she thought she was hilarious.

With that, the two continued on their way to the infirmary, which happened to be all the way on the other side of campus. After a lot of walking, the two reached the infirmary.

Lyra almost regret not seizing the opportunity to dramatically cling to him on their walk, but shrugged it off. The two walked into the infirmary, and Lyra said sheepishly, "Good afternoon, Ms Longstorm."

Without looking up from the documents she was reading (no doubt the medical files of all of the new students), the nurse said, "What was it this time? Wall, desk, or plate glass window?"

Lyra's eye twitched with annoyance at the lady's words. Lyra had been to the infirmary so many times, always with little injuries caused by her own clumsiness. The injuries usually centered around the three things Ms Longstorm said, and it became sort of a habit for the nurse to just ask Lyra which one of the three she had crashed into. Usually, Lyra would awkwardly tell her, but never had she been annoyed by it. Maybe it was because the teacher had just made it obvious to Johnathon that this wasn't the first time she had done something like this by listing the three things she walked into on a regular basis. Surprisingly, all of this little accidents didn't cause any scars. Thankfully the girl was a fast healer.

Lyra hesitated to answer, glancing up at Johnathon. She sighed, and finally grumbled, "Desk."

Ms Longstorm looked up, and smirked, "I know. Liam called and told me."

The girl cringed, and growled, "Then why did you ASK ME?"

Ms Longstorm was about to answer when she looked up, noticing Johnathon for the first time. She lowered her glasses at the picture.

"Oh, Lyra, you didn't tell me you had a boyfriend!" she grinned, standing up. She approached them and crossed her arms. "He's pretty cute...hey, if it doesn't work out between--"

Lyra gasped and her face turned a shade of red that she didn't think existed.

"Ms Longstorm!" Lyra squeaked, squirming slightly. "It's not like that! He....he was just helping me here because I busted my hip open! AND DON'T HARASS HIM! He's not my...my boyfriend. Well, he's a boy who's my friend, but not my boyfriend - oh just forget it."

Lyra buried her burning face in her hands as the nurse snickered.

"I'm only kidding, Lyra, sheesh." she smiled.

The infirmary was actually pretty small. The tiny office was connected to three others rooms by thin, green curtains. Two of the rooms were basic first aid stations to patch up small wounds, and the other was a room where very ill students could spend the night.

Taking Lyra by the hand, she gently pulled her towards one of the rooms. She stopped, then looked back at Johnathon.

"Liam told me you were very ill, and highly contagious..." she smirked, knowing how the history teacher was. "After I'm finished with her, you can explain that to me, alright?"

The two disappeared behind the curtain, though you could clearly to what was going on through it by their dark and clear silhouettes.

"Lyra, he is pretty cute, ya know...and didn't you see the way he was blushing? OH, so cute!" the nurse gushed as she helped Lyra sit on the table. Of course, she spoke in a low voice that only the girl could hear. Looking at her wound, the nurse shook her head and asked, "How did you manage to do this wish a desk?"

Lyra frowned, and mumbled, "You don't need to make me feel worse about it."

Ms Longstorm held up her hands and said, "Stand down, I didn't mean to make you feel bad. Lets see here...the cut isn't that deep, so you won't be needing any stitches. I just need to clean this and wrap it and you should be fine."

Walking away from the girl's table, the nurse reached up and opened a cabinet full of medical supplies. She grabbed what she needed, and then closed it. Setting down the supplies, she said, "Put your arms over your head."

Lyra did as she was told, and wasn't surprised when he shirt was pulled over her head. She didn't bother making a comment about it.

"Ooh...yeah, the bruises are going to hurt pretty bad for a couple of days. Just be careful, alright?" the nurse said as she examined the wound, expertly tossing the shirt into the washbasin behind her. She then poured some disinfectant on a cottonball, and warned, "This is going to sting, but only for a minute. I have to clean the cut so it doesn't get infected.

As Ms Longstorm started to brush the burning fluid onto the cut, Lyra let out a small cry. She couldn't help it. Her eyes stung with tears, but she wasn't going to cry. She came this far, didn't she?

After what seemed like ages, the nurse was finally done.

"All done, sweetie! Oh, I know it hurt, but don't cry. Please don't cry. I have a strict policy that nobody cries alone in my presence." the nurse soothed, rubbing Lyra's bare back.

"I'm NOT crying!" Lyra snapped, quickly rubbing her eyes. "My...uh...my eyes are sweating!"

"Of course, dear. Now just let me bandage this up and you'll be good to go." the nurse smiled as she pulled out a large, heavy duty bandage. As she was about to open it, Lyra stopped her and awkwardly stuttered, "D-do you think I...could get the one with the unicorns on it?"

Raising an eyebrow, the nurse put the bandage back and pulled out a hot pink one with white unicorns sprinkled across it. She opened it, and as she was placing it over the cut, she asked, "Don't you think you're boyfriend will think it's a little childish that you still ask for unicorn bandages?"

"NOT MY BOYFRIEND!"

"Right...well, you're all done." she smiled, walking over to the washbasin. "Just give me a second to..."

In the blink of an eye, Lyra's shirt was all cleaned and patched up, like nothing had ever happen.

"Useful power, eh? I'd be a wonderful laundress." Ms Longstorm teased, handing the shirt to Lyra, who slide it back over her head and carefully got off of the table. The nurse cleaned up what she had used for Lyra, and said, "Will you send the cutie in?"

Lyra rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but smile. She walked out of the room and smiled at Johnathon.

"Alright, I guess you're next." Lyra smiled, taking on of the few chairs that were in the office.

((sorry for the ridiculously long post xD ))

Leo absentmindedly ran her fingers through Maria's soft hair. She didn't appear to notice she was doing it, as she was just quietly watching and listening to what was going on around her. Killua had come over to sit with them and she smiled and nodded a bit in greeting. Then the other boy woke up again and realized that Maria was, in fact, a real person. The redhead had to hold back a small laugh at the way he'd said it, though. Wait, you're real? That had been one of the more amusing things she'd heard in all her 17 years of life.

"Wait, you're real? I'm.. I'm sorry. What I said. That was incredibly rude... Sorry."

Maria started to pat herself down, as if to confirm she was real. "Well, the last time I checked I was real. I'm not sure if I still am, though, so make it a point to pinch me every now and then," Maria joked. "You don't need to be sorry - I've had moments like that, where I've thought I was dreaming when I wasn't... It's normal, I think. Don't worry about it." Maria looked up at Leona for a moment, who appeared to be letting her eyes wander and began to do the same herself.

Kouji hummed and climbed up a ladder. He moved his blonde hair from his eyes and put away some books. "Ok spell books go here. Books on healing there. Mythical creatures go.." he pushed off sliding the ladder over to another section of the large shelves and put the books in their proper places. "There! All done." He smiled and climbed down the ladder. "I wonder where imuto is now?" While dusting himself off. Kouji didnt know she had came to the school yet. He sat down behind a desk and went back to sketching. "She'll look adorable!" Putting more detail into the dress smiling widely. "This coral pink will due just nicely. Hmm add a bit of lace here. Ruffles there. Hmm not too short. Perfect! "

~Professor Crysta Chime~

Crysta smiled at all of the positive interaction in the room as she sipped her tea. It was almost funny how the students hadn't even realized that this interaction was part of her class.

"Alright, students." she smiled, setting down her cup of tea. She was sitting cross-legged on that large mat where a desk should've been. Folded her hands in her lap, she continued, "Most of you were just interacting with someone a moment ago, whether you were making conversation, touching them psychically, or connecting with them spiritually."

Reaching over, Crysta grabbed her cup of tea and sipped it.

"Some of you may not know what connecting spiritually with someone is...but that's fine. That's why you're taking this class."

She looked into her cup of tea, and smiled.

"Connecting spiritually is when you look at someone, and you catch a glimpse of their aura. Just a glimpse." she explained. "All of you have probably done this at a point, when you look at someone and think, 'that person looks nice' or 'that's someone I want to stay clear of''. That's because you saw their aura. If you can't tell anything about the person, they have a very shy aura, that hides and won't let anyone see it."

And here came the student's
this-lady-is-a-loon thoughts. She smiled, and continued, "Those are the people who you have to get close to and talk to, and usually, the aura pops right out."

Crysta stood, placing her empty tea-cup in the sink. She turned back towards the class.

"Of course, some people's auras can be deceiving." she smiled. "So it really is best to go talk to the person to find out if you were right about them."

Crysta crossed her arms, and said, "Most of you thought I was weird and strange...that's because my aura is, indeed, weird and strange. So most of you connected with me spiritually."

~Professor Liam DiFranco~

A few minutes after Lyra and Johnathon had left, Liam slowly poked his head out of his office. He scanned the room, and then cautiously stepped out, a bottle of all purpose cleaner in one and and a roll of papertowels in the other. His hands had thick, yellow, rubber gloves on them and on his face was a surgical mask that he'd stolen from Giovia.

After completely disinfecting the desk and chair that Johnathon was sitting in, he couldn't bring himself to even touch the desk that Lyra cut herself on. Instead, he ran back to his office to get a sheet. He covered the desk with it, and then put back the cleaning supplies and took of the mask and gloves.

"Right, then." he coughed, adjusting his tie. "I think we shall begin. Today's lesson will be on the monsters of The Otherworld. Take out some paper and pencils, there will be a test on this at the end of the week."

The teacher grabbed a piece of chalk, and begun his lesson.

"Otherworld monsters range between harmless pixie-like creatures to giant fire breathing dragons to humanoid hunters." he began. "The title 'monster' hardly suits most of them, as they are quite peaceful...but the ones that fit the title REALLY fit it."

Aleksander sipped his tea. He had tried staring at some people but he couldn't see any aura's. Aleks wondered if being blindfolded helped but decided against it. Unlike his usual friendly self, where he would be talking and making friends with his classmates, he was actually being quiet. He was trying to figure out why Crysta had hugged him. He could sense that when he entered the room, Crysta was in distress but calmed down when he approached.

Aleks shrugged. Not being the smartest person in the world, he decided to let it go and return to his class. Most of the people were talking among each other and being the gentleman that he was, he decided to wait until everyone was done before talking to them. Aleks loved to talk and make friends but he didn't want to be rude by forcing himself in a conversation. While he waited he thought about the girl in his other class, Calista her name was.

She was very nice. I like her. We will be good friends. Very shy though, I hope she becomes more comfortable around people. He thought as he sipped his tea.

Geno was a bit surprised at first when Crysta started talking. He had completely forgotten he was in a class. "Connecting spiritually is when you look at someone, and you catch a glimpse of their aura. Just a glimpse. All of you have probably done this at a point, when you look at someone and think, 'that person looks nice' or 'that's someone I want to stay clear of''. That's because you saw their aura." This made sense to Geno. He'd always recognized things like that about people, and wondered how he had any idea about it, since it was usually acurate. Maybe this teacher wasn't as creepy as he thought. He expected a kindergarten teacher, but this was much better. One thing bothered him though.

He raised a hand, and without actually waiting to be called out he said. "That's cool and all, but there's still- what, 30 minutes left? Now that you've revealed this charade, what are we supposed to do?" He paused, and then added ".. And going by that logic, doesn't a shy aura just indicate a shy person? And if that is the case, hasn't the spiritual connection already served it's point?"

Nichole nodded and wrote down some notes. Nichole sighed and closed her eyes thinking back to home. Her mother's delicious chocolate cake. Nichole smiled and drooled a bit in her day dream. "Cake.....yummy chocolate cake..." Nichole fell onto her desk and was out like a light. "Zzzzzz....." when deprived of sugar she was exhausted. Nichole slept peacefully and smiled in her sleep.

Kouji hummed and chuckled opening the care package from his mother. It had his favorite treats and even a slice of chocolate cake. "that was nice of her." He blushed at the second thing in the box and sighed. "why must my mom be prepared for this?" Facepalming. He sighed and then smiled unwrapping the cake. And took a bite. "Mm reminds me of home."

Nichole's nose twitched and she shot up."sniff sniff chocolate. I smell chocolate! Sniff where is it?! I need my chocolate fix now!!"

Auras? Leona wondered what her aura was like. Probably not every interesting, though... She wasn't a particularly interesting person, after all... She looked at Geno when he spoke. Shy aura, shy person... That made sense... She wondered now if her aura was shy? Maybe... But what did Professor Chime feel from her aura? She was good with that kind of stuff, right? What impression did she get from Leo? Was it that she was weak, shy and afraid of everything? Or did she see deeper than that, to some part of herself that Leo didn't know about? When her head started spinning, the redhead figured she was thinking too much into it and tried to clear her mind, taking deep, calming breaths.

Veronica took the question into consideration. She never knew if she really liked cats. She knew there were many in her other mansion back home but that was long long ago. She certainly didn't remember much of that. "I guess so. I just haven't seen one in a very long time. " Veronica paused a bit and tried to further examine what response she had just given. It was quite ambiguous. Liam then introduced the class and started speaking otherworldly monsters. This was one of Veronica's favorite subjects. Not because she could learn of the magic to create an undead zombie. Not because she could learn about the fire of a dragon. But because she could relate. She was a monster. Learning about all kind of them, she could find herself more of a human.

((Sorry for the late reply!!!))

~Professor Crysta Chime~

Crysta stopped for a moment to listen to Geno speak.

"That's cool and all, but there's still- what, 30 minutes left? Now that you've revealed this charade, what are we supposed to do?... And going by that logic, doesn't a shy aura just indicate a shy person? And if that is the case, hasn't the spiritual connection already served it's point?"

Crysta nodded slowly and said, "Good questions. To answer your first one, there is so much more to Meditation and Focus besides auras, that's just a fraction of a fraction of what this class is about...and there is still so much about auras, I could go on forever. To answer you second question, not necessarily."

Crysta sat back down on her bamboo mat, and leaned forward slightly. Her eyes wandered to Leona at the word "shy", and Crysta smiled.

"Whether or not a person's aura is shy has nothing to do with the person's personality. The shyness of an aura is solely determined by one's spiritual power. Through meditation, you can get more in touch with your spiritual side, thus making your aura stronger. The stronger your aura, the less shy it will be." she explained the best she could.

Her answer to the first question was good enough. This seemed exeptionally simple if that's all there is to do, but he still wondered one thing regarding the latter one. "Huh. So, we're training to make it easier for others to see our aura? What point does that serve?" There was still something bothering him in the back of his mind, but he decided to let it go for now. He could always ask her after class.

~Professor Crysta Chime~

"What point does it serve? Well..."

Crysta paused for a moment, and thought of a way to explain her answer.

"...when one has a strong aura, it strengthens their power as well." she said, closing her eyes with a small smile on her lips. "Having a strong aura is what enables someone to search deeper into their soul, unlocking more and more of their ability as time passes. I've been on this earth for many years, and still most of my power remains hidden within the depths of my soul."

Opening her eyes, she looked at Geno.

"So imagine; if you are this strong now, imagine how much stronger you will be once you get in touch with your spiritual side." she said soothingly.
