Thomas got up and started pacing. "Burr left to go to Hamilton.. If he's double crossing us.." He rubbed his head. "It will not end well for anyone."
"I don't think he'd double cross us. He's not that kind of person." James reasoned, shrugging.

"And he would leave, without telling us why?" Thomas asked, he doubted that Burr would double cross them, but yet that thought was still in his head.

Holy shit. He's bad at this. Burr thought. The ideas that Thomas and James had totally out scored the ones Hamilton were writing down. Maybe it was a waste of time coming down here to steal ideas. He didn't want to do it in the first place. Who knew, maybe he'd come up with some better ideas in the long run. Only time would tell. "Got some good ideas. Way better than the ones Thomas had." He decided to give the kid some false-hope out of pity. He was going to need it.

"Jefferson?" Alexander asked. "He's working on this too?" Alexander looked up at Burr with a fire in his eyes.

Abandon mission. Was the only thing going through Burrs mind right now. He was screwed. He was so utterly screwed. He decided to lie again. "No. He said he was going to work on it. He gave out some ideas and then when I actually wanted to start, he started insulting me. Like I said in the text." Burr hoped that lie was convincing enough.

Angry Hamilton. Not good. Not fucking good. Burr thought. "Thomas overheard our conversation. He wanted to do it with me. He wanted to do it better than you. Except he isn't doing it better than you. So can we just be thankful for that?" Burr replied calmly.

"You. Were going to work. With that ASSHOLE? BEHIND MY BACK?!" Alexander shouted, shoving Burr. "YOU LITTLE PRICK! I CAN'T BELIEVE I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND!!"

"HOLY SHIT! YOU PSYCHOTIC NUT! CALM DOWN!" Burr paused for a moment. "You know what? Mission fucking failed. Fuck this shit. Not worth it at all. Goodbye, Hamilton." He walked back towards Thomas' house. "You're lucky you have crappy ideas, Hamilton!" He called back.

What he just did was not good. Now Hamilton knew. He was never going to talk to Burr again. He opened the door and took his shoes off because they were dirty and walked over to the table. "That was a complete fail." He muttered. "Think of anything while I was gone?"

Hamilton's face fell. He'd been stabbed in the back. Hamilton stood, astonished, unsure of what to do. He walked around the park for about twenty minutes, an aching pain in his chest. He'd been betrayed. Burr betrayed him. He asked for his ideas just to tell them to Jefferson. Alexander started the long walk home, feeling nothing but pure loss. He couldn't text anyone, he couldn't go into an explosive rant. He was just shocked. By the time Hamilton got home, he had missed dinner. He didn't care what Prof. Washington would say. He needed to be alone for now. He needed to write. @Dont hate me

James raised an eyebrow. "Why the hell did you do that?" he challenged. He didn't want to make a scene, he was just curious.

Washington was in his study when the door slammed. He knew it was Alexander. He missed dinner again, but judging by the fact he wasn't running into Jefferson's study ecstatic, he knew the meet didn't go well. "Alexander, my office." Washington said in his sternest voice. @Alexander Hamilton

Alexander froze in his tracks. Then he slowly turned towards Washington's office. "Yes, sir?" Alexander asked cautiously, entering as though waiting for Washington to explode. @Dont hate me

"Do what? Leave?" He paused. "I was trying to get information from Hamilton. Crappy move. I know. Anyway, it didn't go well. I don't think Hamilton will be talking to me anytime soon."

James nodded once, turning back to his writing. He picked up his tapping it against his temple, simply thinking. "That's unfortunate."
"Are you hungry?" Washington asked, "Because you missed dinner. Martha made a lovely pot roast, she was very excited to share it with you."
"Sorry." Is all Alexander said, looking at his feet. He didn't want to admit he'd been shoved to the side by the others.

"You didn't think that through." Thomas face palmed. "The past in the past.. Sorry for sounding rude Burr.. I'm just thinking for tomorrow.."

"You can say that to Martha, but if you want to stay here you need to abide by my rules, son. When I say be home before dinner, you get here beforehand and help set the table and stay the entire time. I don't care if you're writing petitions or whatnot. Dinner is dinner. What happened with Mr. Burr?"

"Don't call me son." Alexander muttered in passing. At the mention of his once-friend, Alexander stiffened. "He's a spineless back-stabber, as per usual." Alexander growled, his eyes narrowing.

"Yeah... Unfortunate." Burr picked his phone up and scrolled through his contacts, finding Alex easily. Listen, I didn't mean it. You pissed me off. Competition and friendship should be separate. Can we just talk and work this out? If it means abandoning Thomas for our friendship, I totally will. He texted. He didn't regret sending that message at all. Thomas might've been his best friend, but Alex was his first friend. He wasn't going to let that friendship fall apart.

Alexander felt his phone buzz and he pulled it out to see Burr texting him. He quickly typed back a furious, You're one of them now, asswipe. Have fun with the snotbag and his cane-toting lover.

"This isn't a competition, son. You all want the exact same thing. Until you all get off your high horses and listen to each other without judgement nothing is going to get better and your friendships are going to fall apart. Son, I know this is hard for you, but you need to put aside your misgivings towards Burr and his buddies and work with them. Together you can save the department, but apart we will all suffer. Burr is a good kid at heart, as are all the others I'm sure. Find a way to make it work or don't do it at all." Washington said, waving his hand to dismiss Alexander. "Go. Martha's waiting for you in the kitchen."

You don't want to work this out? Fine. Do the damn constitution yourself. I bet you won't even be able to get to 51 pages for the constitution. He typed back slowly. Now his friendship with Alex had truly ended. "Come on guys, let's push Hamilton into the dust!" He said excitedly

"I'm not your son." Alexander snapped, practically shaking in anger. He then stalked off towards the kitchen, hot tears forming in his eyes as he read Burr's text. He'd lost Burr, his first friend. He'd been painfully reminded of the lonely, family-less life he leads. Now he had to face Martha's disappointment. There was no way he got through the night without breaking down.
