Nation Building Ghost in the Machine

indeed, sadly I think on this sight the longest running rp that I did was about 22 pages for a paragraph a piece... and there I was writing literaly two to three pages only to get back in response.

"Yes I agree completely we should do that but first I want to go find my girlfriend." Aiko walks off to the bar to get a drink.

With me staring at my huge post like... did nothing get through? are we speaking another language? am I simply incomprehensible of picking up the vibe that their putting down?

Irritated? About what, exactly?

Oh trust me, I haven't enjoyed a single piece of Tim's works in this genre.

Tried joining his RP after Anubis went silent, not two pages in and he wasted no time in abusing the hell out of the Rpers who signed up. I can understand playing the big bad for the players to defeat, but he literally was going full on planetary annihilation right off the bat. There were no survivors.
Oh God, that RP.

I've basically made up my mind that I'm not going to post on that thing anymore. Like you said, it wasn't very fun at all, not like this one in my opinion. Plus there was the sheer irony of him posting the thread under the 'Detailed' category.

And then he basically explained the plot to a newcomer and it made absolutely no sense at all. All I could make out was stuff about cults, instrumentality, and some faction called the Chosen and their dealings with something called "Zion".

Not really that fun, but to each his own.

Also, @Romulus VenZiel for the sake of sub-plots can my next faction have known the Nafarians as well as share a border with them? I might make them play some hand in the Fracturing of the Nafarian Empire in some fashion.

@Dys knows a wee bit about as ive explained it to him.

On another note @GrieveWriter welcome to this pwnage fest. please make sure you read all the CS's carefully so we don't have any misunderstandings eh? *Grunts* lets go do epic shit

Thank you Jarkov, I'll make sure to do that again before making my first post. You have my best wishes. Now what was I complaining about? Oh yes.

It's reasons like that that make it harder to look through RPs and spot that damn Fantasy Highschool Rp. That's literally the largest RP on this site, and I swear its just horrible inside and outside.

Worst part is that I'm positive he truly doesn't understand what was wrong in the first place. He wiped out one guy's military and placed them under his control because of a debate they were having in a council. Then he went ahead and forced Beo's peace representative into captivity all because he went against him and tried pleading for peace.

It was like watching some horrible Text-Based Sanford Prison Experiment, and then he just left an entire armada hanging around my homeworld for no apparent reason. I swear he's just taunting people into getting put down.

And Dys I don't know if we're talking about the same attempt. I know he's tried some afterwards, but I'm from an old RP of his called Galactic Empires. If you want some first hand experience for any of you who haven't seen this, I'm linking it right here for cringe material. Seriously every five pages has at least one example of what not to abuse as a Roleplay creator.

The worst Part? I've been diverting newbies from that rp who're hoping to get in since its dead and gone, tim recently said he's rebooting it. I can only imagine...

No, this is not the same one I was in.

My goodness, this one is worse.

hahaha yes you are my good man @NeoLeaf I just want @GrieveWriter to make sure he knows everything because we all remember the confusion and outrage that came out because no one bothered to read the Serai'Drakhouls bio.

yeaaa I looked at it and immediately saw the whole thing about the owning half the god damn universe bit and instantly grew bored and disgusted. Because with a intergalactic superpower like that theres really nothing to do except subterfuge and rebellion. A really good damn rebellion. and if the whole thing is called galactic empires... what the fucks the point if theres something like that screwing around?

I agree with both of you.. I can't get past the seventh page...

Exactly.

There is no point in trying to make an empire in that thread if you can get your choice of one of two supermassive factions.

oh man guys, you know what I really would have wanted to do to all those dickish factions in that rp... hiya dumbasses, meet Lady Galumora, the Lady of Ravens.

*sits back with and watches as they all try to strut their shit and she smackeths them down verbally*

I put so much time into that CS too, and several of the others seemed very interesting as well. I would've loved to interact with them....

But I'll try to simplify it for those who can't bring themselves to go ten pages deep into this mess.

Basically, the humans are the stronger, superior race and subjugate all other races under their control. The way tim puts it, those races are content and happy being voiceless to the unstoppable humans.

There's more freedom in the Alien half of the universe (Humans owns one half of the universe the other goes to the aliens. He actually tries convincing us that there's an infinitie wall they built between the two. Utter ridiculousness I know.) but the aliens aren't much better.

They openly demolish whatever planet they want like children if they don't get what they want (With how tim puts it I'm positive the humans were meant to have something that can annihilate galaxies for no other reason than Human superiority), and are pretty much just as horrible as the humans. The only real difference between the two? Tim keeps trying to make the Humans sound like the good guys in this equation. Somehow, the guys who will openly enslave a peace representative and annex anything and everything they can are seen as the heroes in this story.

I don't know why he's obsessed with human superiority, but I can feel it in almost every post. My guess is that he's trying to make submitting to them sound enticing or something.

I can only hope he's been learning in the time since this fell, and then there's the matter of this supposed "Reboot"

almost everyone from what I can see were expansionist asshats... *pauses* wait a minute then again most factions in this rp are expansionist asshats and their moralities are evil to some degree

@GrieveWriter

It isn't human superiority - it's his own.

He made the 'humans' in his image. He doesn't even respect other factions of the same race or identity such as the Terrans.

He created a new race of people for the reboot. This time the humans and aliens were allied against said faction, which still somehow managed to beat the snot out of them. It's basically the same 'My Faction Is Supreme' thing from before. Now, instead of being humans they're "Centurions" or something along those lines.

*chuckles* yea The Lady of Ravens... submitting to any one? ... I can already see the poor sods who thought they were cool in their big armored ships.

Dredge cruiser warps in, rams side with the cutting edges of the Mauriyianna class ships and then fires about 7 Dredge into that breach.... waits ten minutes and sees the whole command crew has been captured and half the crew are hiding under the beds and benches praying nothing comes into their room

The Centurions... ah... the multicoloured version of humanity - only that they are all white, have vibrant hair colors and can basicly be immortal.

well... probably not to that extent. I mean 7 Dredge... that's a scary number and super rare but plausible. You would have to have some serious pull with the Ascension council and some of those Dredge would have to be your own offspring.

If I wasn't 100% sure he'd just Power-play his way out of that the image would've brought some closure for that RP.

It's because of tim that I've been trying to make Nuetral side characters for the past several Roleplays. Whenever I try to be part of the main cast everything seems to fall apart for me. I don't know if its me or the RP but I'm never taking chances.

To that end, I've been making loveable side characters for the past RPs I've been doing. Being the comic relief, the sympathetic minor antagonist. The enjoyable gang of misfits who people can enjoy because the grouping of their various negative attributes make it entertaining to see them interact with each other.

Too bad I can never get more than five pages in before the RP dies, would kinda make this a bit better.

I actually realize that most of us are guilty of making factions being EXTREMELY HUMAN-LIKE but aren't human because [insert minor reason here]. I mean, take the Nafarians for example. They basically look EXACTLY like humans, and that's according to their CS

It's understandable, finding suitable aliens to use that're more than just generics can be a challenge at times. Giving a backstory that explains why they're like that is even harder.

But to be fair, there are literally hundreds of races created by Sci-Fi shows movies and literature that are no more than slightly different looking humans. So actually you're just keeping with an already popular trend.

*cackles* emphasis on Most of us Dys. I don't think you could qualify my things to be even remotely humanoid in appearance at all. hands, nope, feet nope, eyes no their star shaped for christs sake, legs nope

You're really one of the outliers in this case.

I think that reason is that its simply to hard to relate to aliens that are simply that, too alien for us to like and or get to understand. I mean jar jar binks and Chewbacca made it because they are either a idiot and or cant speak and everyone interprets for themselves whatever the fuck hes saying.

Also its kinda hard to figure out some of the stuff about aliens like my Dredge, spent nearly 4 days at a desk crunching numbers and reading anatomy and biological stuff to make them as realistic as I possibly could for a soft science fiction based creature

Either way, I plan to continue my loveable side character trend. I was able to work it into a nation of migrating Orc-type characters I'm sure I can make it work here.

I started recently changing my species.

I already played as anthros, animals and humans. Time to change my approach, while I was thinking that I was watching john carter's The Thing. Thus came the obsession with tentacles.
