Callum continued to smile, but not as bright. He took a moment to think. "I got it from Ander's notes." He said quietly, hoping she wouldn't freak.

Confused, Em was still smiling, though that smile was quickly fading to a look of confusion. "W-what...?" Suddenly the two events that had been unrelated in her mind - them finding the torture chamber and Cal finding the recipe - became linked. "You took some of those books...? You trusted what he wrote?" In her shock, she didn't see the sense in it - Ander would not lie in his notes, he never expected anyone to read them.

"Well, yes, Em. They were Ander's notes - he wouldn't lie to himself. He tested it on multiple vampires and the result was always the same. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, love. But it ended up working, and that's all that matters."

Emmalia pulled away a little bit. "That's all that matters...? I mean I agree, I guess, it worked, but you don't think that my knowing mattered?" She looked away from him, then said, "I understand why you didn't tell me. You wanted me to take it and if I'd known, I might not have. But, I mean... I don't like that you didn't tell me. I understand it, but I don't like the feeling of knowing you kept a secret from me."

Callum sighed softly, "I'm sorry Emmalia. If something like this ever comes up again, I promise I'll let you know." He felt guilty for not telling her, but part of him was glad. If she never took it, they wouldn't have figured out it worked, and they might never have had such a wonderful dinner last night.

Em just nodded slowly, then as a sign of forgiveness, leaned back in against him and put her head against his collarbone, similar to a cat butting their head against someone's leg as a show of affection.

Callum wrapped his arms around her and held Emmalia close. "I love you, Em." He said quietly and kissed the top of her head gently.

"Oh, okay," she said in response, then got up and started changing into her usual attire. "We might learn more about my new limits too."

"Sure," she said, taking his arm. They walked around for a bit, Emmalia marveling at the sun not hurting her skin. She couldn't help but pull Callum into a baker's to buy a few fresh rolls. However, when she reached into her pouch for a silver, she yelped in pain and pulled her hand away, a visible burn on her hand from touching the silver.

Callum had enjoyed the time he spent with Emmalia, doing whatever she desired so she could get out the needs and wants of a vampire-turned-human. However, when she winced, he instantly assumed something terrible and pulled his sword. "What's wrong? What's going on?"

Em, thinking quickly, since they were in front of the baker, said, "Ah, I just forgot about the burn on my hand. Cal, could you please pull the silver out to pay her?" She showed him the fresh burn on her hand that was already beginning to heal, but evidently had been severe.

Callum looked down at her with wide eyes, but slowly began to understand what was going on. He put away his sword and nodded slowly, taking the coins and paying the baker appropriately.

Once they had walked out, Em held out her hand again to show him, revealing that it was mostly healed, but that the general redness wasn't going away. "I guess I can't touch silver at all now," she said quietly.

"A small price to pay for what you got." Callum said and kissed her head. "I'll help you fix that up at the Inn, if you'd like." Callum held her good hand in his as they walked.

"Nah, it's mostly healed, now it's just a slight irritation, like I brushed against a hot pan." She was idly examining her hand as they walked. "I mean, I'm not complaining, I'm happy with being able to eat and such, this is worth it. I wonder what else negatively changed, though...?"

Callum nodded his head at her remark. "Hopefully not a lot. I don't like seeing you in pain." He said and gave Emmalia's hand a gentle squeeze.

"Yeah. We'll have to see as we go," she said and gave his hand a squeeze in return. As they walked back to the inn, they passed a butcher's shop, and Emmalia perked her head up a bit, looking at it. Very quietly and gravely, she said, "Cal... I still need blood." The normal food couldn't sustain her.

"What?" Callum asked, turning to face her. He frowned a bit, unsure how to feel about it. "Are you sure? Maybe it's just your old habits kicking in." He suggested.

She shook her head sadly. "No, I can tell. I don't need any right now, and the urge isn't as strong, but it's definitely there."

"No, I'll be okay. I'm just surprised is all. But maybe it won't be so bad." Once again, she squeezed his hand, and suddenly feeling rather vulnerable, started walking closer to him. The voice of instunct was in her head again, and it was loud. It was mad that she had said no to blood.
