"Yeah... he's gone." There was no more time to ponder the thoight, Callum was evidently in pain. She quietly said, "will you be okay to make it back to the carriage?"

"Of course." Callum said. "I'm not gonna keel over." He said, walking with Emmalia to the carriage. He approached carefully, taking a quick look over it. "See any traps?"

"No, just lots and lots of tripwire...." Em leaned in close, then groaned and tugged on the wire, breaking it off the carriage. Nothing happened. "He tied this wire everywhere but had no actual traps. He was smart, gotta admit...."

Callum let out a soft chuckle as he began to pull away the strings, rather cautious. "Well, it didn't save him in the end, so it couldn't have been all that great."

"True." Emmalia couldn't help but think that there wasn't much that could have saved Ander from her wrath. Now, though, they needed to fix all of this so that they could just get home. Soon enough, they had cleared away the wires and traps. When they returned to the village, a letter awaited them from Camilla, saying that repairs to the castle would take about a month, and that they had best stay away.

After reading the note, and being thoroughly frustrated, Callum sighed. "Well, I suppose there's no point, there probably won't be anywhere in the castle we could go to. I guess we're on the road again."

"The road where? Cal, you're still wounded. And I recently tasted human blood. We can't just romp around the wilderness randomly." She sighed and waited for his instructions.

"It was more of a saying." Cal said. "Since we're no longer going to be home for a... Never mind." He chuckled lightly and winced a bit. "Remind me not to laugh..." He said and leaned up against the carriage. "Ugh."

"May as well go back to the inn for now," Emmalia said. "Then you can rest. Eventually we can see about getting a job or two. It'd kill my parents, hearing that I'm in their territory killing things." She chuckled quietly.

"Why?" He asked as he sat up slowly and began to walk back towards the town. "I could see why they'd be mad at you killing Ander, but why would they be upset about you hunting here?"

"Because I'd be showing all their people that I'm not a proper lady at all, and that I'm pretty well alive. Mostly." She couldn't help but smile at the thought of her parents faces when they heard that she was killing things in their lands.

Callum smiled softly, "Well, I assume it'd make you pretty happy to ruin your parent's image, so I'll also assume you want people to start talking about us?" He said and reached over, and gave her hand alight squeeze.

"Depends on what kind of talk," Em laughed. "No need for talk of the young Lady having intense public displays of affection with some young Lord in armor."

Cal smiled softly and nudged her a bit. "Oh come on, you know it'd be scandalous. People will love it, I can see the future now - they'll be talking about the daughter who married the warlord from the North east. Only depends on how intense you want it." He winked.

"Well I would like not to be arrested, thank you kindly." She smirked and started walking towards the village, knowing he'd follow. "Besides, I'd still like to inherit this land eventually."

"So? Maybe people would like to know what their beautiful queen looks like when she's courting with her betrothed." He laughed at the thought. "I think you're right though, I want to be the only one who sees you when you have that look." Callum said following close.

"Damn straight I'm right." Emmalia laughed, then turned to face him. "Especially since I don't want anyone looking at you like that and getting ideas. But since we're in agreement, let's talk about what we're going to do. I mean, Cassian has his men now, we have our castle being fixed, potential coup still may just be on the horizon, and we're here." It was an awful lot, really, but there was truly very minimal they could do. Suddenly she grinned widely. "I just remembered, there will be a fair in Farfend, the main city in the West, in just a few days. Want to go with me?"

Callum turned to look at her with a smile. "Of course, why wouldn't I want to go with you?" He asked, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Is Farfend far away from here? Will we be able to make it there in time?"

"It's not far at all. It's by my parents castle, just a bit further west. We can start tomorrow and get there in time." Emmalia smiled and took his hand in hers excitedly. "There will be music and dancing and artisans and entertainers. It'll be great."

Callum smiled and gave Emmalia's hand a light squeeze. "I always loved fairs. I just hope my chest can take all the laughter and excitement I'll get." He chuckled, the thought bringing back memories of his childhood.

"Hopefully it'll heal enough by then," Em said. Soon they arrived back at the village and Emmalia insisted that Callum eat a full meal while she hunted. She was gone for over a half an hour, which wasn't unusual. When she eturned, she had a rather glazes look in her eye and went right to be bed to flop onto it.

Callum had been up in the room for a while now, resting on the bed to try and keep from breathing too hard. When Emmalia came in, he raised an eyebrow and sat up a bit. "Are you alright Em?"

Em dint even look up at him. "Mhm," she mumbled quietly. "I just glutted and drank a whole deer dry is all." Her words were slow, like she was weary or ill, and in truth, she was a bit of both. Weary from taking down the deer and draining it dry, and ill from drinking so much - her body had to catch up. And the deer hadn't even been very satisfying, it had tasted awful. What she craved was human blood, but she couldn't have that.

She glanced up at him, then reached out and took his hand and brought it over to clutch to her chest like a child with their toy, and curled up on her side, facing him.

Callum couldn't help but smile at her childish love. He held her hand firmly and wrapped his body around her, in both symbolism and actual, to show his protection over her.

Em didn't open her eyes, but smiled slightly and softly pressed her head against his collarbone. "Love you," she murmured quietly and squeezed his hand a bit before falling asleep.
