"Be careful," Em said from the seat next to Callum, which she had never left. "Sit up too fast and you might hurt yourself further. You're bruised up, but no more internal damage, at least." The healer had ensured that much, and Emmalia wouldn't have let the healer go with any less.

Callum let out a soft sigh as he remembered what had happened yesterday. Part of him wanted to forget what had happened, but he knew Emmalia wasn't being herself. "Are we going to the inn?" He asked, wondering if it would be better to talk about it there or at the inn.

"Yes, if you feel ready." Emmalia stood and held out his bloodied shirt to him. Bandages were over his ribs, and that was all that covered his upper body. Thankfully it was night time, so she could actually go outside with him to get to the inn.

Callum slowly reached out and took his shirt after thanking her. With some difficulty, he put it on and stood up. "Ready?" He asked, and offered his hand to hold.

"Yes." Em took his hand, more to steady and support him than for herself. She was still cold to the touch, but she could feel his warmth, and it was pleasant, like walking out in the sun on a chill spring day. Despite it being dark, she guided him out and to the inn, where she pulled the hood of her cloak up high again and paid that way, so nobody could recognize her as a LaFaren, or see her eyes. They went up the their room, and Emmalia lowered the hood.

Callum sat down at the edge of the bed, looking up at her quietly. He felt like this was partly his fault, like he was the reason she was being so distant. "Was it something I did...?" He asked quietly, staring into Emmalia's eyes.

"Not at all," she stated. It was best to not bother playing coy and to just address the elephant. "You have done nothing to hurt me in any way. Nobody has hurt me, either, but it most certainly isn't you."

This news relieved him a bit, knowing she wasn't being distant because of something he messed up. "Well what is it then, Em? You don't need to hide things from me.'

Emmalia looked into his icy blue eyes withr her red ones and said, "I'm not hiding anything." Her skin was cool and paler than usual, and she seemed my be a touch thinner. Nothing was hidden, then she'd wear a heavier glamor if it was. Oddly enough, she seemed sincere, if emotionless, that she wasn't hiding anything. Perhaps she didn't truly even realize what had happened herself.

Callum looked over Emmalia in thr candlelight of the room, unsure how to speak. Then, after a moment of collecting his thoughts, said, "Emmalia, what's going on with you? Why are you so... distant?" He wasn't sure how to describe exactly what seemed to he wrong with her, so if she knew, it was probably best to hear it from her

Callum frowned and felt his heart sank a bit. Her lack of emotion was causing even him to feel some heartache. "Emmalia, I love you." He said with as much emotion as he could pour out into it.

Callum sighed heavily, trying to ignore what he was seeing ever since his rips were knocked in. "Emmalia, please... Come back to me..." He said, staring into her menacing red eyes and wondering if the true Em that he knew would ever show itself again. He didn't know if this was something Ander did to her, or something to do with her vampirism, but he didn't like it either way.

Emmalia stared at him for a few moments, then it seemed like she cracked. Everything came rushing back to her when she saw his hurt and heard his voice, all the memories of his caring for her and loving her, keeping her warm when she was ill. Especially the emotions behind these memories. Her eyes changed to green again and her pallor faded, she looked at him like she was hurt by some thought, and she collapsed to the ground.

Callum wasn't prepared for her to collapse, much less turn back to normal. He got up as quickly as he could (Painfully, since he moved a bit too fast,) and attempted to lift her up off the ground. "Em? Em!"

Em woke up after a few seconds of getting jostled. She was mostly out of it, her body worming to go back to her mostly-human standards. "Uugh.... C-cal?" With his help she managed to mostly get to her feet, though she had to lean on him. Knowing he was hurt, she pulled away to try to lean on the bed.

Callum groaned a bit as he attempted to hold her up. His chest was hurting rather badly, but as long as Emmalia needed him, he would bear as much pain as his mind could tolerate before leaving her. "What happened? Are you okay?" He asked.

Em was able to make it to the bed and sit down so he wouldn't have to support her. "I-I don't know, I think I vamped for a bit, I don't remember much...."

"Vamped?" He asked with a frown and sat beside her. "You mean you can become even more vampire than you already are? Without drinking blood?"

"I-I just lost control for a bit, mentally slipped. I smelled your blood and his blood and I heard you hit the ground.... everything after that is vague. I've had blood recently, though, I can tell. But not much."Her voice was rather quiet as she mused over what had happened. She hadn't had a similar problem in quite some time.

Callum looked down at the ground. "So, I caused you to act like that? My blood?" He asked, sighing softly. He had never hoped to see a side of Emmalia like he had seen when fighting Ander, but now he found out that she became like that because of the smell of his blood.

"No, it wasn't just that, I think, it was the stress and hearing you get hurt and knowing it was Ander, I just lost it, I think. I haven't done that in years." She didn't meet his eyes, in fear of seeing that he now was scared of her or hated her.

Callum remained silent for a bit, unsure what else could be said. So, instead of talking, Callum brought her in for a hug and held her close, not once letting his hold on her release until he knew Emmalia was sure Cal still loved her with every ounce of his being.
