"I have more control over myself than most vampires, I admit. At least the ones I've seen, comparatively." She gave a sigh. "It's been a week or two since the last time I've fed. Not sure what I'll do though, maybe you could point out a bad maid." She chuckled with a wink.

Callum sighed softly. He didn't want to talk about attempted suicide, especially since he'd obviously tried it before. He was somewhat curious what would happen if he tried to kill himself, but decided now wasn't the time to ask. "I'm sorry." Was all he could say. Callum had been in his place before.

"You wouldn't believe how many times I've been called a traitor for killing mad vampires. Once our kind loses it... it's an absolute bloodbath. As for food, I could only point you toward a nice hunting area for animals. I don't condone human blood, though if you're only taking what's needed, I can't be mad."

Daniel chuckled. "Don't pity me, please. I've got a pretty good deal of it, sometimes I just... get thinking too dark. Being stuck hunting demons is dark work. You'll probably notice similar things with your spirit job, though fewer virgins sacrificed. Hopefully."

"Oh well. Just do me a favor and don't ask around if someone goes missing." She jokes. "Now, if you'd like, I can get to work designing your dress, assuming Father didn't get rid of my spools and stands."

Callum nodded. "I just hope I get the easy jobs." He chuckled. Callum tried keeping the topic from getting too morbid, so he changed the subject. "So, this demon, any idea what it is?"

"Uh, yeah, that works...." After a few seonds, she asked quietly, "You don't kill people when you eat, do you?" There was no way she could have stayed sane if she'd killed people, but she had yet to deny it.

"Pretty powerful, but seems to just be a normal demon. Helfire and all, that kind of thing. Limited magic abilities, probably. Probably would get stronger over time though, but I weakened it when I shattered the bones in its who list - it has to go heal now. Not easy for a tethered demon." There was that word again, Helfire. Last time Callum heard it, it had been about Daniel.

"Of course not. Killing humans while you feed is uncivilized. And, what are vampires if not civilized? I don't consider those monsters anything like us. We're vampires. They're selfish fools who can't control themselves. Like alcoholics."

Callum raised an eyebrow. "How do you mean - helfire? Is it something special, or...?" Callum had never been very good with angels and demons, he was more of a human kind of hunter. Emmalia was a dark huntress and took care of monsters, while Callum spent his time killing people who didn't deserve to live.

"A good analogy, actually, except for the whole literally out of their minds part and losing their very humanity. But yes." Emmalia chuckled quietly. "I never thought I'd say it to another vampire, but I think we're going to get along very well."

"Helfire is basically aggression," Daniel explained. "It's a temper, it's anger, it's wanting to see another hurt and enjoying it. It's like a fire and takes a spark before lighting. Only demons have it, and it increases their strength. Theirs is constantly burning, but some have better control - they can make logical, complex plans, manipulate people, that kind of thing."

Camilla smiled. "Well that's a good thing, considering you're marrying my brother." She said and lead Emmalia to her old room. "Now, this is where I kept all of my spools and dresses. Let's see if we can't get you a wonderful dress."

"Ah." Callum noted. "Well, let's hope this demon doesn't have a whole lot of it." Callum wasn't going to pretend he understood everything that there was to know about fighting non-humans, but as long as there was a chance to kill it, Callum would help.

Emmalia was happy to get her mind off of vampirism and focused on the future. And since Camilla was a vampire too, Em felt no bloodlust from being near her.

"Probably a lot, but very little control," Daniel said.

Just then, Conroy and Maven returned. "Good news, we know where it is. Tailed an apprentice out of the church, found an old abandoned house in the woods," Conroy said.

Camilla began to start getting measurements on Emmalia's body. "So. you and Callum, huh?" She giggled lightly. "When did this happen? Was it romantic or was he an idiot like always?"

"Well then what are we waiting for?" Callum said, eager to get this demon from the realm. "Let's go after it. Doesn't sound so tough."

"Uh, well, he found out what I was, and I got poisoned by a poisoned arrow, and the fever made me ill, and he kind of took care of me, got to see me when i couldnt be such a tough bitch, and begged that I let him be my travelling partner, I agreed, thinking that he'd get sick of me and leave on his own, then at the party we danced, then kissed, which honestly wasn't too much of a surprise, that tension had been there for a bit. And, uh, yeah, when he reclaimed the throne I played as an advisor to keep public eye off of me, and just the other day we were talking, kind of morbid stuff to be truthful, and he just said he wanted to marry me, and here we are."

Conroy looked at Callum with wide eyes. "Not so tough?"

Daniel was just laughing at Callum's statement. "Boy, you have a bit to learn. This is not an easy demon! The tethering spell must be cut, then it can be fought. Recall, it threw me through a wall. Youre right that we should leave, though. This tine, I'm going to arm up better." Daniel grabbed a small black pack that had been sitting next to him. "Are you ready, Callum?"

"I'm not sure if that's charming or Callum being an idiot. Maybe a mix of both." She smiled. "I'm happy for you." Camilla said as she began go and spin the threads on her machine, fabricating the outline of a dress before long.

"I've been ready ever since I left my castle." Callum said as he stood and fastened his sheath to his side. He was eager to finally fight something after so long of being stuck in the safety of a castle.

"I'm happy too," Emmalia said as she perched herself on a table nearby. "It's gonna be a small wedding. Private. You're invited, of course. And it can't be in a church, naturally. I was thinking by a river, maybe." It was oddly normal to be fantasizing about a wedding day, and Em enjoyed it

Daniel looked over his armor and chuckled, then walked outside. Once outside, he reached into the bag and pulled out what looked like a gem. There was a bit of a flash, and suddenly Daniel was in full plate armor, heavy and durable. The armor was definitely made to take a beating, but was also surprisingly ornate, with brass and blackened designs on it. When he pulled out another gem, this time his favorite weapon was in his hand - a battle axe, slightly taller than himself, and almost too heavy for an average person to lift. He tossed the bag to Conroy, and said to Callum, "Work long enough, you get some pretty cool gifts from the gods. Now come on, we've got to get moving."

"Oh, a wedding by a river sounds magical. There's plenty around here too. I'd recommend right by a waterfall. That'd be a sight to see." Camilla smiled. "How do you feel about veils?"

Callum looked over his armor and only shook his head with a smile as he followed. Callum never believed in flashy armor - it was a bit of a hypocritical thing if you asked him. Armor was made to protect you, and nothing more. Sure, it could probably defend hum better than any normal metals or alloys, but having flashy armor never appealed to Callum. His large halberd, however, did.

"A veil...? Uh, I think I'd like one. Maybe. I don't know I typically don't like things obscuring my view, but I think I would like it if it was nice. Maybe embroidered with a delicate design. As for the waterfall, that would be too noisy I think." Emmalia was just thinking out loud at that point.

Daniel chuckled quietly as they walked. "Looks flashy, but you can't argue with a gift, and it serves its function. Brass is a good magic conductor, you see. Roy can give me temporary enchantments. He can probably give you one too if ya ask nice."

Conroy commented, "Let me just focus on the tether."

Camilla smiled and listened to her talk. She had planned on getting Emmalia to open up, and it seemed like she was already spewing out thoughts left and right. It made her company feel less professional or forced, and more like they were actually willing to be around one another.

Callum let a smile show. "I think I'm good. I wouldn't want to be a conductor for harmful or bad magic. Never did like anything that wasn't tangible." It was true - if he couldn't hold or touch it, he didn't want it.

Emmalia smiled slightly and said, "I don't know, now that I think of it, I'm really excited for the marriage. I never thought I'd have a wedding day. But I'm nervous too - I don't know what I'm doing."

Before long, they arrived at the hidden cabin. Conroy cast a spell over the group so that anyone besides them wouldn't see or hear them. A circle around the cabin revealed what was expected, the cabin looked abandoned, but had a basement inside. Still in their silent bubble, Daniel said, "I'll lead, then Callum, then Roy. Maven, you stay out here and guard the entrance, we don't need Roy getting killed because we weren't watching our backs." Maven nodded - any mention of risk to Roy quelled any argument she had.

Daniel led the way into the house, then hefted his battle axe and rushed downstairs. The basement was practically a cavern, and in the center was a circle made of red chalk, candles, and blood. In that the demon had been sitting on a throne like a King while being attended by a few cultists, but upon Daniel's entrance, the demon flared up again and his massive wings unfurled. The cultists, startled, immediately ran at the intruders. Upon reaching the end of the stairs, swing his axe and took out two of them in one fell swoop, while Conroy took up shelter behind Daniel and started slowly chanting in some ancient language, his hands making strange glowing symbols in the air.

"It's fine. Nobody knows what they're doing. You only get married once." She said as she continued to draw up sketches for possible designs of dresses, showing Emmalia each one to make sure she'd be satisfied with her pick.

Callum had been right behind Daniel the entire way down, his sword ready for any incoming cultists. He began to fight alongside him to protect Roy, hoping that nobody would get past them while he did... Whatever he was doing. Callum wasn't much for magic or anything that wasn't human. He could never keep up to date on every weakness for every monster, especially not demons. The cultists, however, he could help with, as he began to expertly dodge and parry attacks, with furious and precise counterattacks.

Emmalia looked at the designs and pointed out little things. "Less poofy, for sure. No poof on the sleeves either, please." Over time, though, she became visibly tired.

The demon was not idle in this time. He took a few moments to charge a fiery bolt in his hand, then threw it at the trio. Conroy backed up just enough to avoid any stray flames, evidently having practice in keeping his focus and dodging attacks. Daniel pushed Callum to the right while he dove to the left. Quickly he was on his feet again and decapitated a cultist. Then he started moving away to the other side of the cavern - away from Roy. He moved forward to attack the demon, then yelled and backed away the moment he had crossed into the center circle. "Fuck! CALLUM, DON'T STEP IN THE CIRCLE!"

Camilla had begun the designs of a wonderful dress, according to all specifications Emmalia had wanted. She began to pick out various fabrics and put together her work, but seeing Emmalia, she stopped. "You seem rather tired. Why don't you go rest?" She suggested.

Callum grunted as he rose to his feet. When he hears Daniel shout back at him, he took his warning and stayed out of the circle - for the time being. "Why?" He asked back, fighting off another set of cultists. If it was a death trap, there'd be no point in him entering - but if it was just so Callum wouldn't fight, Daniel was poorly mistaken.

Emmalia shook her head and said, "No, maybe I should go eat, I don't want to sleep...." She looked up at Camilla and quietly said, "It's hard trying to sleep without Callum. I miss him bad."

"It's a spell! Hurts like Hel, I bet if we step too far in - " Daniel had to pause to dodge another fireball. "I bet we'll be paralyzed," he finished.

Lightning crackled through the air and struck the demon, knocking him out of the circle and to where he could be fought. Conroy called, "The tether's broken!"

Daniel immediately took the chance to approach the demon, who was already standing and ready to fight.

Camilla had a warm smile on her face. "That's sweet. I'm sorry he can't be here now. I'm sure he'll be fine, though. Whatever he's doing, he's probably safe in a warm bed thinking about being next to you."

"Ow!" Callum exclaimed as one of the remaining cultists sliced at his arm. He quickly took care of him and joined Daniel, his guard up, ready to fight the demon. "Does it have any weaknesses?" He asked, hoping it wouldn't be a trail and error type of situation.

"Yeah... I somehow doubt that," she chuckled quietly. Just then a courier knocked on the door, and Emmalia called him in. He handed her a letter, and she dismissed him, turning the letter over slowly. It was marked with the King's seal. Inside was a hand-written letter from the King himself. As Emmalia read it, her eyes widened and she visibly paled. Hungry, ill, and in shock, she fainted then and there.

"Yes. Stabbing," Daniel commented, only partially sarcastic. The demon lunged for Daniel, but Daniel swung his axe and delivered a heavy cut across its chest. "Callum, I got the front, cut the wings!"

Camilla had raised her eyebrow the second she saw the seal of the king on the letter. Seeing Emmalia's reaction, she came up and helped Emmalia relax back into the seat. "What's wrong?" She asked quickly, feeling her head for a temper.

Callum nodded and went into action. He began to make his way around the demon, and when he had his back turned, sliced cleanly through the demons left wing.

Emmalia came around quickly and looked at the letter in her hand like one might look at a bug. "Bad news... very bad news." Despite just fainting and still looking worse for wear, she frantically jumped up and looked for the nearest piece of paper and inkwell. "I have to reply - I have to, before he tells anyone else!" Of course this made little sense, but Em wasn't in much of a condition to make sense.

The demon roared in pain and turned to lash out at Callum. The moment the demon turned, Daniel got to swing his axe and take out the other wing, causing more dark purple blood to flow to the floor and getting the demon's attention again.

Camilla frowned and tried taking a look at the letter to see what she was so upset about. Perhaps it was something to do with an old lover, or dramatic issues with another kingdom. Maybe both. Camilla figured Emmalia could be of noble birth, especially if she was being sent letters from the king himself.

Callum had just barely gotten out of the way, possibly being ripped in in half if he stayed still. However, the demon still got to him, and slashed up along his cheek and left a nasty looking cut across his face. It wasn't too damaging however, and he easily recovering and joining in on the fight, slashing and stabbing at the demon.
