Callum smiled at the tight embrace, wrapped his arms around her. If he didn't expect her strength, he would've easily been knocked down. "I missed you Em." He whispered and pulled away slightly to give her a deep kiss. All the while Camilla shook her head with a smile, and watched the interaction unfold.

Emmalia returned the kiss, then squeezed him close again. She was careful not to hurt him with how tight she held him, but it was hard to resist. "I missed you too." She pulled away slightly with a smile, then looked at him with wide eyes. "What happened to your face?! That's going to scar, Callum!"

"It's nothing Em, promise." He chuckled lightly. "Just a little miscommunication with a demon is all. I beheaded it though." He said in a way that made it sound like he wasn't trying to take all the credit, but also trying to impress her. "I missed you so much Em."

She sighed heavily and hugged him close again. "I missed you too...." even though she knew he was now immortal, she felt like she should have protected him. Finally she pulled away and said, "Uh, Camilla is here. But you're probably hungry. We can get you food!"" Her voice was especially peppy, like she was trying to make everything okay.

Callum nodded. "I'm famished." He said and smiled, then turned and embraced Camilla. After a few kind words exchanged, Callum followed them to the dining hall. He noticed the fact that she was overly happy, and he would comment on it, but later he would question Emmalia what was wrong.

As Callum ate, Emmalia explained, "I told Camilla about our engagement, and she'll be happy to make a dress for me. So far the drawing she made is beautiful. Also, she knows about my condition. Afraid I was feeling I'll and she was so persistent in questioning, I had to tell her." Her words in no way betrayed either Callum's nor Camilla's secrets.

Callum stopped eating for a moment and looked between the girls, trying to comprehend everything that was said. "Well that's... wonderful." He smiled, as he tried not to blush too hard. He was rather surprised Camilla wasn't shocked about Emmalia being a vampire. "I'm glad she'll be making your dress."

"Me too," Emmalia said idly. Callum was the only one eating. It was strange, having so many secrets and not being able to in any way reference any of them. Callum's new... job, the eye color change that Camilla didn't notice, then Camilla's not eating because she was a vampiress, and Emmalia wanted to tell Callum about the King's letter in private. It was almost enough to make her feel faint again, as she stared vacantly at the table in front of her.

"Don't faint deary." Camilla said with a giggle, referencing earlier in the day. Callum, looking up from his plate, frowned.

"What's wrong Emmalia?" He asked, sitting up. He had been worried that something was wrong with her besides just her missing Callum, but he didn't want to bring it up. However, now that she was in the state she was in, he felt it was urgent that he know.

Emmalia looked up at Callum and sighed. "I've been rather ill after drinking human blood, you know that...." Slowly, though, she relented to admitting, "But also, I received a letter from the King. Your father told him about my status as a LaFaren. And while the King will keep it a secret from my parents, he can't say if Gallium told any of the guards - we know he has someone in there who ordered the attempted assassination on you." She shrugged and added, "I wanted to wait until we were in private to tell you, and you just got back from battle and you obviously got hurt, I didn't want to burden you with the information just yet."

Callum frowned when he heard this. "So now, the king basically has the best reasoning to blackmail you into doing whatever he wants." He didn't like this, but figured there wasn't much they could do about it."

"No, I don't think the King will, he's a good guy. I'm more worried about the Guards. My vampirism is secret but not my lineage... I think that's almost worse." Callum's words struck something though, and her eyes widened in horror and she put her elbows on the table and held her head in her hands. "What if one of the guards blackmails me? I'm not ready to reveal who I am yet! Gods above, this really is a nightmare.... And if Ander should decide to reveal my vampirism too, just to torment me?!" She was starting to feel like she just might faint then and there....

Callum frowned and helped her up from her chair. "Come on, you need rest. All this worrying will only make you stress out." He said, and Callum began to guide her back to one of the bedrooms in the castle.

Emmalia looked up at Callum and let him guide her. She was rather scared of what would come now, for both her and Callum. She quietly said, "I haven't been able to sleep with you gone. And I missed you. And I have to tell you, I... I didn't want you coming back to me while I was like this. Useless, panicky, ill. Now I have to give you bad news, too, this whole mess with Gallium. I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about it." Callum said quickly, and laid her down on the bed. "I couldn't sleep without you either, Em. But now, I'm here, which means you can sleep. I can't have you be worrying and tired." He smiled down at her.

Em gave him a soft smile and wrapped her arms around his neck to pull him down next to her. "You need sleep too, you said you haven't slept." She nestled into his arms and wrapped her arms around his waist. "You're going to tell me everything about the fight in the morning."

Callum smiled and kissed her head gently. "I will my Dearest, I promise you." He wrapped his arms around her waist, closed his eyes, and slowly fell asleep.

Emmalia woke up slowly the next morning, feeling considerably better than last night, except she was still concerned about her secret coming out. Maybe a good old hunt would do her well? Some monster needed slaying, perhaps? No, he had just gotten back from fighting a demon. He deserved to have a few days of rest. Though soon they would have to go look for lost souls.

Callum had woken up much later than Emmalia did. He had enjoyed every moment of rest he got, but he wouldn't complain when he woke. He held Emmalia tight against him and kissed the back of her head. "Good morning."

Emmalia giggled slightly and replied with, "Good morning, my love." She turned to face him and lightly cupped his cheek, her thumb a feather-light on the scabs over his forming scar. "I could get used to the idea of these scars... make you look even more... rugged."

Callum smiled tiredly at her. "You know, I could've gotten out of that fight unscathed, but I figured you'd like the look of a battle scarred warlord." He joked, kissing her cheek.

"Liar liar," she said with a laugh. After a moment to look at him thoughtfully, she said. "Though, I do definitely like the look. Not that you needed it." Suddenly she paused and looked down, then quietly said, "I just realized... I feel like a liar now. You've never seen me without my glamour."

Callum raised an eyebrow and pulled away a bit to get a better look at her. "How do you mean?" He asked. Callum had seen her in every possible light, or at least he thought.

"I mean, you've only ever seen me without my glamour spell. All smart vampires wear one. Otherwise my eyes would be red, and you'd see my fangs and overall, I look...." It was hard for her to say how dead she looked, especially how thin and pale.

Callum let out a small sigh. "Emmalia, it doesn't matter how you look. As long as you're happy with who you are, and you're alright with being queen of your own castle, by my side, then I don't need any other reason to love you."
