Emmalia chuckled. "House sitting. I didn't want the responsibility, and I'm already too much in the public eye being Callum's courtier. I'm supposed to keep down low." She strategically dropped that she was Callum's courtier - it was a started.

Camilla had picked up on what she had said, and knew Emmalia meant every last syllable she ever spoke, but decided to ask about it at another time. "I guess that means we'll be having tea parties and talking about lords then." She teased, as she hated gossip of any sort. "Have you eaten yet dear? It looks like you haven't in weeks! Callum better not be starving you. I'll have the chefs make something for you at once."

"Oh, no, that's nice of you, but no. I'm not eating much lately, I've been ill - I never eat much anyway." Camilla was right, though, in the time Cal had been gone, she had gotten a bit thinner and paler too. Animals blood was hard to stick to, but she had managed it... painfully.

"I don't believe you for a second Emma. I implore you, please. You're the guest here." She said, not seeming to realize that Emmalia wasn't just here as a placeholder until Camilla arrived. "I'll find you the best room in the castle to stay at, too. There's no reason to leave early when we have a whole castle to ourselves."

Emmalia gently said, "Camilla, I already have a room here, and I really do not want any food." She carefully added, "I've been living here since Callum took the throne. I thought you knew."

Camilla paused for a moment. "Pardon me." She chuckled. "I assumed you were just stopping by." Before Emmalia could say anything more, she quickly added, "Oh, how was the dress? I assume it worked it's magic and had everyone at the ball swooning over you?"

"Yeah, plenty of them," Emmalia chuckled, thinking of her and Callum's first kiss. "It was lovely. In fact, we were hoping you could make one or two more for me, maybe a special one...." She blushed, not sure how Camilla would react. "I mean, I need a wedding dress but we want to keep it kind of private and there's no better seamstress...." She gave a small shrug and grinned. Camilla was the first person who had been told about the engagement. Being a dark huntress with as mysterious a past as she could keep it, Emmalia wasn't exactly someone people expected to marry a Lord. Perhaps her family would be happy about it, but they didn't know she was alive.

Camilla expression perked up instantly. "I'm glad you - and everyone else - enjoyed it! I'd be happy to create a brides dress, they're my favorite event to create dresses for." She gave a flashy smile. "Who's the lucky man? Did you catch the eye of a rather handsome prince? Or was it a lesser waiter whom you've grown your admiration for, like one of the novels those fancy writers make?"

Emmalia had thought that it was clear she meant Callum, but evidently not. Blushing even darker red, she said, "Actually, it's Callum. So I suppose it's a Lord...."

Camilla kept the same blank smile trained on Emmalia for a few moments, trying to process what she had said. "You and Callum are... Engaged?" She said, obviously in disbelief. "And neither one of you told me?"

Emmalia quickly said, "It's not like that. He proposed the same day you were called on and he was called away, so we figured we might as well wait until you arrived." A little bit of a bending of the truth, but not completely.

"Well... I guess you're more of a woman than most others, which is a big plus." She gave a tired smile. "Just look out for him for me. He's the only one of us who didn't turn out like our father, he deserves a good wife."

"Ah, you didn't turn out like your father. Don't discredit yourself. And I plan on taking good care of him. I don't know what I'd do without him." Already she had experienced that once, and it was not something she ever wanted to feel again.

"Well I'm glad then." She smiled and began to walk. "If he ever does anything stupid or bad, let me know and I'll straighten him out. He has a tendency to shoot himself in the foot if he uses a bow and arrow, so don't let him. Also, don't give him any reason to yell 'For Agathor.' It's rather annoying and he won't stop once he does." She seemed to go on forever, talking about all the things to take care of Callum like she was talking to a petsitter.

Emmalia laughed quietly. "I don't know why he'd yell 'For Agathor' in the first place. But don't worry, we've been living together for a little while now. We'll be okay I think."

"Good, because I can't have him die after taking care of him for so long. He's not a very good functioning adult, I'll have you know." She joked with a smile. "Now, I believe I heard you say you're quite famished."

Camila didn't know the irony of her statement about him dying. All she did was quickly say, "No, I said I am not hungry, thank you though."

Daniel and Callum sat at the inn casually eating. They had just gotten off of a shift of watching a temple for any activity, and Conry and Maven had taken their place. Since they were alone, Daniel quietly said, "Y'know, I kind of owe you an apology for my behavior before."

Camilla frowned and narrowed her eyes for a moment. "You know, you seem like you're a girl of many secrets. I hope you know, being your soon to be sister in law, you can trust me with anything." She could tell something must've been wrong, considering how defensive she was over not eating.

Callum ate quietly, listening to Daniel talk when he did. He made sure to finish what he was eating before replying. "You don't owe me an apology for anything. Don't worry about it. Just let me help when I can and we'll be fine."

Emmalia smiled softly and said, "I believe that. You're a wonderful woman, Camilla. But there are some things I'd rather keep to myself. If it's any consolation, Callum knows all my secrets, and he still wants to marry me."

Daniel nodded slowly and took a sip of his mead, then asked, "So you know? About her? Nobody but us does - ever notice how your vocal chords cut when you try to say that she's female?"

Camilla nodded her head. "All of your secrets?" She asked. "Even your... condition?" She purposely left it vague, knowing that it could ruin her image if anyone was listening in. "I'm surprised, never thought Callum was one for non-humans."

Callum raised an eyebrow. "How do you mean?" He asked, taking a drink from his cup. He scratched at his stubble like he did when he was perplexed.

Emmalia met Camilla's eyes and gave her a somber smile, though her eyes made it clear that she was not going to be messed with if that was what Camilla was after. "Yes. Callum is a generous man. I must say, I'm surprised by you, though, being able to tell about my problem."

"When you talk about Death. It's a secret that she's a she. I tried telling Roy about it once, being dead and all, and any time I tried to say that Death is a she my voice cut out. You know why that is, right?"

Camilla returned the same smile. "I figured you'd be able to tell your own kind, Emmalia." She said, giving a heavy sigh. "Although you don't look like you onto human blood... Yet."

Callum frowned. He had only said it a few times, and it seemed rather odd that he was correct. "Why?" He asked, his interest at a peak.

Emmalia nodded her head slowly. "I'm not, and it's been hell keeping myself off of it, but I have. If it weren't for the fact that I'm so ill, I'd have been able to tell about you. It's very surprising, to say the least." Emmalia was now concerned - very few vampires kept off of human blood, and those that kept their sanity while on human blood were not to be messed with. Then again, Camilla could just have an extraordinary will and bite without killing - it was very possible, as vampires had multiple different effects to their bites, which they could use at will.

Daniel chuckled and smiled softly. "Because if people knew that Death was a young girl who cried every time a good person died, who would fear death? Hell, we'd never get anything done, without that fear."

Camilla nodded her head. "I admire your determination to keep on animals. It'll change one day. Maybe you'll slip and say just one bite but..." She smiled again. "As long as you keep that determination you'll be all set."

Callum frowned, realizing he was right. No one would take her seriously. Crying was a sign of weakness, a way to show you needed help or were in distress. To Callum, however, he believed it humanized her. He almost felt bad for her, but there wasn't much he could do. "I suppose so. Has she told you that personally? Does she talk to you a lot?"

Emmalia said, "Y'know, I've been on this track for years and I'e had human blood a few times. It's why I'm the wreck I am right now. But in my line of work, one slip - when you're on animal blood long enough, human blood loses it's allure. I mean, yeah, it's tempting, but not nearly as much. I can't take that risk with being a dark huntress." She cleared her head and said, "You seem very sane for someone advocating human blood. Either you were insane and survived past that, in which case you'd have no humanity and your emotions would be for show, or you've kept yourself very carefully without killing."

"Yeah, she does," Daniel sighed. "I mean, she's a very sweet girl. I know a lot of people, if they knew how kind she was, they'd end it then and there. But we talk a lot for different reasons. When I die - which is pretty common, actually - I see her. Sometimes she sends dreams too. Sometimes, I...." He seemed pained almost, at a bit of a loss for words. "I used to have trouble with my sanity, after being revived. If you haven't noticed, it's impossible for either of us to kill ourselves. I learned the hard way a couple of times."
