Emmalia rolled her eyes at the immature joke, then said, "If you want to head to that inn Daniel is at, you can go. I'm probably going to read a book or something - away from everyone else."

Callum nodded. "Good idea. I'm not sure if I'll be back within the day or after a week, so," He pulled her in for a long, passionate kiss. His arms wrapped around her and pulled her close to him as he desperately tried to make up for any lost time in the future.

Emmalia returned the kiss in whole, wrapping her arms around him too. Afterwards, though, she held him for a few moments longer in a tight embrace, with her head against his chest. "Tell Daniel, if you don't come back, I'll hunt both of you down and punish you both."

"Yes ma'am." He said with a soft smile. He enjoyed seeing the softer side of Emmalia being displayed secretly in her harsh side, threatening him while, at the same time, caring for his well being. It always brought a smile to his face. "I only have one thing to live for Em, and I promise I won't leave her."

Emmalia smiled against his chest, then finally let him go. "Good. Oh, and no pretty girls while you're away. I'll get jealous and attack them later." She smirked a bit.

Callum smiled and toyed with her a bit. "I'll make sure to have a little fun with anyone who fits into what I like." He winked. "There's only a few requirements - they need to be a vampire, call me Cal, and sleep in the same bed as me in my castle is all."

Emmalia laughed and teased, "You're so easy to get, aren't you, with those requirements." It was nice to be able to joke just before he would leave for God's knew what kind of battle

Callum smiled softly as the sun began to set. It reminded him of their first kiss, the sun just barely above the horizon as their lips had connected. "I expect a very passionate kiss when I return, Dearest." He began to walk back towards his quarters to gather his things. "I shall see you... Soon. I'll send out a letter if I can't return."

"I hope you won't need to send one," Em replied with a small smile. "When you return, maybe we'll have a dance, a ball with the servants, then a long night. How's that?"

"That sounds wonderful." He said with a soft smile. "Will we continue our trend of leaving our own party early for some alone time?"

Callum smiled in her direction one last time before walking off, making his way out of the castle and to the nearby town that was, technically, under his rule. Daniel had talked about staying at the inn, so Callum figured it'd be the best place to start looking for him. he entered the Inn, and began to scour around for Daniel.

Daniel was as he normally was in an inn. In the midst of a bar fight. Just as Callum walked in, he punched a man and knocked him across the room. Another assailant broke a chair over Daniel's back, knocking him down, but Daniel was up in an instant and back in the fight, seemingly no worse for wear. Daniel noticed Callum and gave him a nod, deciding that it was high time he wrap up the fight. Grabbing one man's arm, he tossed him aside into a table, then turned and knocked the final man out with a single hit. Turning to Callum, Daniel said jokingly, "I hope you're not here to collect payment for your wall."

Callum let out a small chuckle. "Of course not, I would not ask anyone for that kind of repair, in fear I may bankrupt them." He smiled softly and offered a hand to shake. "How are you doing? Not too banged up from that fight I assume? It's not every day a man comes flying through a wall."

Daniel took the offered hand with a grin. "I recover quick, especially when I have a healing mage nearby. Not that flying through a wall would be the worst thing to happen to me. Trust me, guillotines are unpleasant." He looked about at the mess he'd made, just as a young woman came downstairs. She was fairly pretty, with long brown hair, suntan new skin, and a scowl on her face. "Dammit, Daniel, I told you not to break any furniture this time."

Daniel only replied, "I didn't break it, they did."

Callum looked over at the girl Daniel was talking to. Seeing the interaction only reminded him of Emmalia, and how he had already missed her company after being away for a short time. "Is this your mage?" Callum concluded as he looked back to him.

"That would actually be me," said a young man as he walked down the stairs. He seemed only as old as Daniel, and he had curly hair and pale skin. "I'm Conroy Lockhart. This is Maven, my, uh, courtier? My miss? She's the healer, I'm the all around mage, Daniel's the brawling old man." Maven was going around the men who Daniel had defeated and healing any life-threatening wounds. She gave a little wave to Callum as she was introduced, then went back to work.

Daniel smirked and said to Callum, "Maven healed me up after the fight. Conroy and I have been working on hunting down the demon."

Callum nodded his head slowly. "Hello all. I assume you know more about this demon than I do, and I was hoping I could help out somehow. Would you mind telling me more about this monster you're fighting?"

Daniel looked over at the two, then back to Callum. "So far, we think he's got a spell binding him to this plane, which makes our job more difficult. Conroy will have to dispel that while I fight the demon, then I can kill it. And I say I, because you won't be involved if I have anything to say about it."

"Well why not? Isn't it my new job title?" Callum was rather offended to think he was already considered unworthy or unfit to carry out his duty. "I'll have you know I deserved a chance to fight this thing the second my castle was assaulted."

Daniel looked extremely unamused to say the least. Conroy smirked a bit. Daniel said, "No, you find lost souls and get them to go to death. I kill demons. Our jobs are very different and I can prove that if you need to see it."

"I understand, but in a way, I'm supposed to send things out of our realm that aren't supposed to be here. So do you. The nature of what we expel is different, but besides that, we've got the same job description. Let me help, Daniel."

"Same job description?" Daniel asked with a chuckle.

Conroy began , "Look, you don't quite -" Before Daniel cut him off.

"Not to be rude, but here's the difference. I could lift the weight of this inn with one hand and not break a sweat. I know just about every fighting style that ever existed. I am made to physically fight demons and not get my ass killed, and even if I do, I come back. And in a few years, I'm gone. I'll have paid my dues, and I'll be finally dead in the ground permanently. Not to be rough, but I don't want to be responsible for you not getting home to your girl, okay?"

Conroy sighed heavily, then said, "Daniel, we might actually need help on this one. I'm sure that a little help won't be held against your debt."

Daniel looked at Conroy, then away at the ground. Clearly he was only being rude because he was scared of something - likely, as Conroy had said, Callum's help being held against Daniel's debt.

Maven sighed and moved between Daniel and Roy. "Look, Roy is right. We need help on this one, and with your shoulder being injured, Death can't blame you for accepting help, especially from another champion."

"Champion," Daniel chuckled bitterly and shook his head. "Champion, like we won a tournament. Bullshit."

Conroy frowned and hit Daniel's shoulder. "Watch your temper," he said in a rather commanding tone.

For a second, Daniel glared darts at Roy, then he seemed to come to his senses a but more and nodded slightly.

Callum wasn't sure what exactly was going on. If he was totally honest, he felt like Daniel was just trying to show off, even if he had somewhat been asking for it. "Look, I'm not sure how I'm going to help - And I agree, we're definitely not champions - but I'll do what I can. Just let me know."

Daniel looked at Callum for a few seconds, then sighed. "If you can help, then you can. Not sure entirely how, though. So far our current plan is having me as a distraction until Roy can break the spell that binds it here, then I kill it. But maybe you could help." He looked over at Conroy, who gave him a glare in return. With a quiet huff, he walked past Callum to the door. "I'll be back," was all he said.

Conroy sighed and shook his head. "Sorry. He's been having a rather rough... time. His temper isn't his fault, don't hold it against him."

Maven chipped in quietly, "He's just scared he won't be able to see Celeste for a while if you help."
