Callum sighed softly as he attempted to think of options. "I could stay here and you could go to the cabin?" He suggested, but he didn't like the idea of splitting up, with him safe behind castle walls and her out in the wilderness.

Emmalia shook her head, then opened her eyes and looked up at him. Slowly, a smile grew on her face as she softly said, "I love you, Callum. I'm so glad you're back. Even if I'm in this state, I'm just... so glad."

Callum felt a smile appear on his face for a moment. "I love you too, Emmalia, and I'll love you in any state you'll ever find yourself in." He gave Emmalia another kiss on her head.

Emmalia smiled a bit and nuzzled against his shoulder. Slowly, she came to her senses enough to say, "Y'know, I've never been this bad after drinking human blood. I think there's something messing me up. Only thing to do that, normally, is dark magic."

"Well, could there be dark magic nearby then?" He suggested as he pulled away a bit. "Maybe it has something to do with me? Since I am somewhat of a spirit now. Or maybe something is nearby?"

"It's not you, for sure. I didn't feel it before, only very recently. Maybe it's something strange.... That's not a good sign, though." What could be causing such a disturbance?

Callum frowned as he looked around. He couldn't see any spirits, so he assumed it either didn't bother to meet them, or it hadn't gotten to them yet. Although he was beginning to feel a tug in his gut, like he had when thay ghost lady showed up before.

Emmalia closed her eyes again. "Not any ghosts, I didn't feel weird when you saw that first one, and technically they've been around us our whole lives." She gave a heavy sigh, her body slowly relaxing against his as they sat there.

"So then, could it be a monster of some sort?" He felt nothing could bust through their defenses, and he never thought a monster could sneak it's way into a castle, but stranger things have happened before in his life.

"Could be," she said with a sigh. "I don't know, though, it seems like an awful lot for a monster. Could be, though...."

Callum sat up and looked around the room. A moment later, he stood up quickly and grabbed his sword instinctively. "Get down!" He said, and just as he had sensed, the wall to their left came crashing down in a torrent of bricks and debris. Sunlight shone through the rift as two people came flying through it - One being Daniel, the other, being a bat-winged, tall man with long hair - the thing that caught Callum's attention were that his hands were ablaze with flames.

Daniel had been misled into thinking that it would be a simple job after dealing with Callum. He had only discovered that he was wrong after he'd been. rows through a tree. Dazed from hitting the ground, Daniel slowly stood and looked over at Callum and Emmalia. "You two alright...?" His clothing was ripped, his shirt in tatters, revealing scars over every inch of his skin.

The demon didn't allow Daniel any chance to catch his breath, grabbing him by his throat and pushing him against the wall. Daniel put his hand on the demon'demon's wrist and squeezed until there was a sickening snap from the demon's bones shattering under the pressure. The demon shrieked and released him, reeling from the injury. This allowed Daniel enough time to scramble among the rubble to find a pack. The moment he picked it up, the demon turned and fled, nursing it's wound.

In the calm that ensued, Daniel panted quiet while blood dripped from shallow wounds on his head, neck, chest, and arms. He looked over at the two again and said, "Terribly sorry. I didn't intend for the fight to get out of hand."

Emmalia had scrambled up and drawn her weapons, bristling at the sudden intrusion and ensuing battle. She wanted to protect Callum, and having had human blood recently, she was ready for a fight. However, all she could do was watch until the demon left.

Callum watched as the demon fled from their room, and his eyes switched back and forth between it and Daniel. "What happened? What was that?" He asked, attempting to help Daniel get up from the ground. "Well, I kind of wish I still had four walls is all I know."

"That," Daniel explained as he tossed his pack over one shoulder, "was a demon. Bit more than a minor one, too, I'm afraid. I underestimated it and left my mages at the inn, and only took my sword." He took the time to adjust the scarf around his neck, then the remainders of his shirt - he understood that seeing so many scars on one person could be unsettling, especially considering how many were from lethal wounds.

Daniel looked at Emmalia and blushed skightly, then said to Callum, "If I could get some bandages and a shirt, I'll be on my way, sorry for all of this."

Emmalia seemed a bit uncomfortable. While she knew she should have been more upset about the demon, she was most upset by the smell of Daniel's blood.

Callum nodded his head. "Just over there." He said, motioning to the closet off in the distance. He turned to look at Emmalia, and, knowing her current dilemma, said, "Daniel, please make it quick. I don't mean to rush you but we have a certain problem right now that requires privacy."

Daniel looked between the two of them curiously, then shrugged and gathered the bandaging and shirt. Once the wounds were bandaged, Emmalia found herself much more at ease, the scent of blood tainted by the cotton bandaging. Daniel said, "Again, sorry for the damage, and good luck with your problem," and left for the inn, to come up with a new plan.

Callum nodded slowly, watching as he left cautiously. He turned to Emmalia and said, "Well, I don't know about you, but I'll be staying somewhere else for the time being. Are you alright? You're not going to go berserk are you?"

Emmalia shook her head. "No, I'll be fine. It was just a lot of blood, is all. Not entirely human, either. But any way, maybe we ought to help him... I mean, he's dealing with a demon in our lands."

"I agree. And when you say we should help, I hope you mean me. There's no way you're leaving this castle in the state you're in, Em. If you'd like, I can appoint you to watch over the castle if you think I should help Daniel. Or I can have Camilla be acting advisor if you don't want to take the mantle."

Emmalia stared at Callum in shock for a moment, then cocked her head to the side and raised an eyebrow. "Callum. By the end of today I will be okay enough to be around people while other stuff is happening, I mean I was okay when Daniel came in here covered in blood, I held myself back."

"Yes, but still. I'm afraid something could happen, you never know. You'll be safe in the castle. I can't have demons killing you after all, dearest." He gave her a gentle kiss on the head. "Please, do this for me, just for a few more days."

Emmalia sighed heavily and relented. "Well, can Camilla come, then? I don't want to be in charge of the castle right now. Of I get pissed off enough I might go for a throat - literally."

Callum nodded his head. "Of course. I'll send for her at once." He looked over Emmalia's shoulder and winced. "I'll also see what my men can do about our little problem." He held her hand as they waked out of the room. When he passed by the door, he stopped her momentarily and whispered, "When I get back, we can catch up on the time we've missed."

Emmalia looked over at him and winked, then continued walking by his side. "Just because you're inmortal, by the way, doesn't mean you should get stabbed. So be careful."

"Of course I shouldn't. But let's be fair, I might as well see what it feels like." He joked. "Plus, you're immortal and I've stabbed you a few times." Callum joked with a wink. "What shall we do while we await Camilla?"
