Fantasy Generic Fantasy RP (CLOSED)

Callum's mind had clicked. Daniel had his own Emmalia, someone he would willingly fight the entirety of Trulane for to be with. The simple reasoning seemed so far fetched to him. Callum and Daniel really were filling the same shoes - the only reason they were here was because of a special person. While Daniel had Celeste, whether she was his betrothed or simply a beloved person to him, Callum had Emmalia. "Death seemed rather forgiving and helpful, despite belief. I'm sure he'll be forgiven. Are you and Conroy demon hunters too? Are you undead like Daniel?"

Maven laughed. "Roy and I? We're very much alive. Volunteering our services, you could say."

Conroy explained, "I was Daniel's friend before his death. Afterwards, I helped him back to sanity, too. We've worked together on and off for a few years. He has no magic, so sometimes a mage is needed - like this demon. But back to what you said, he's not thinking exactly straight lately. Maven wasn't able to heal his shoulder properly after his last battle, and it's been a while since he's seen Celeste."

Callum nodded slowly. "So, who is this Celeste? And, why isn't he allowed to see her?" He assumed it was the same situation he had with Emmalia, only that he wasn't permitted to see Celeste until after he completed a quest.

Conroy cast an uncomfortable glance to Maven, seeming to ask for permission. Maven sighed and explained, "Celeste is his wife. She died, same time he did. Touchy subject, that."

"Daniel does this to pay off a debt. You see, Celeste was cursed. She would have had to spend a year in Hell. Daniel offered to take the time instead. You can guess what happened from there. That's why he's worried about his debt, the poor guy just wants to die. He only gets to see her when he dies, sometimes in dreams since Death likes him."

Maven added, "Unlike you, though, his skills come with an unforeseen price. Working with demons and having demon attributes - his strength, speed, durability - well, it gives him a bit of a temper, and normally it doesn't show, but he's been aggravated by his injury."

Callum listened in on the story. He always believed information on anything or anyone was important, since you never know when you need to give someone a reason or motivation to do something - Callum wouldn't do it without caution, but using Celeste to puppet him a bit could come in handy in unforseen ways. "So, if I help, he won't be forced to spend more time without her, will he?"

Conroy shook his head with an expression that said he clearly said he thought it was ridiculous. ""No, he's being paranoid. Normally he wouldn't think of it."

"Like we said, side effect is Helfire, a temper, clouds his head. The pain and missing Celeste kinda stirred that up." That was all that Conroy was willing to say, though there was clearly more to it than that.

Callum decided to leave the conversation be. "So, how can I help?" He asked, assuming he could help in any way. There was still a rather large chance they didn't need him at all, but he figured if he was persistent enough they'd find a job to give him.

"Well, killing the demon is going to be hard. You can help Daniel with that. Maybe...." Conroy shrugged. "We tend to just wing it, honestly."

"Ah..." Callum said, raising an eyebrow. Battling demons didn't seem to be the kind of thing you'd want to improvise, especially when the fate of some people are in the balance. Either way, Callum decided to do whatever he could for these new people.

Meanwhile, a new arrival at Callum's Castle came through the gates in a fabulous carriage, and soon, out stepped Camilla with a fancy new dress, and a full suite of personal guards to escort her. she examined the state of the castle as she recalled her memories of the place. Camilla had enjoyed the luxuries of the continuous sums of gold Callum would send her to ensure her business wouldn't go under for any reason, but she had been using it for more personal things. "Oh Callum, aren't you going to greet your sister?" She called out aimlessly to the castle.

Instead of Callum, Emmalia walked out of the castle. "He's not here, miss Camilla. Just me, I'm afraid." She wondered if Callum hadn't told Camilla that she was there to take charge while he was gone....

"Oh." She said, and after a long pause added in, "I assumed Callum would be here to greet me before he departed. It's good to see you though, Emma." She said with a bright smile. "I assume he trusted you as the keeper of the castle until I arrive."

"Indeed he did." Emmalia realized that Camilla didn't know of her engagement to Callum, or that he had died. Perhaps she ought not be told the last bit anyway.... "It was quite urgent, I'm afraid. Now it's just us and the servants."

Camilla nodded her head. "He told me in his letter, though he didn't quite go into specifics. Perhaps you know what he's doing?" She asked, hoping to shed light on his sudden absence. She found it odd that he didn't even try to stay behind for a bit to see her just for a moment, Callum and her usually would do greetings and parting with one another before either left on a mission of sorts.

"He was called away for deal with a bit of a monster problem. My health hasn't been the best so he insisted I stay. He's sweet like that." She wasn't lying, and Camilla knew he hunted monsters previously.

Camilla nodded in agreement. "He was always a sweet boy when we were younger, not rough like our other brothers." She said the last part dismissively. "I guess it's because he was the only adopted one out of us all. His parents must be sweet. Are you staying at the castle?"

"Yeah, I am... I'm sorry, you have other siblings? I mean I figured you did, but I thought you were all adopted...." If he was adopted and the rest were blood, how did he get to claim the throne...?

"Oh there are 6 of us." Camilla said with a small chuckle. "Callum is the youngest of us all, since our father was finished having kids well before he was born. Gallium just had a sweet spot in his heart for children, so he took Callum in as well. All of us got banished though, one after another. None of us could claim the throne since our father decided he didn't really like any of us as rulers. He wanted Callum to be his heir, which is why this... Scandal with Callum betraying him hurt so bad for Gallium. He trusted him, and Callum turned him in to the high king. Even I was excluded from his choice of heirs."

Emmalia winced. No wonder Gallium had tried to kill Callum. She quietly asked, "I thought you ran away too, and that Gallium was looking for you as well...?" Internally, Em was debating if she ought to tell Camilla of Gallium's attempted -and technically successful- murder on Cal.

"I was excluded from being an heir, but being Gallium's only daughter, he kept me around the castle for relationship purposes with other lords. I was to be married off to strengthen ties, but I ran away. Everyone else was exiled." She said, and dismissed the topic with a wave of her hand. "What mess has Callum left this place in, I wonder."

"Nothing bad, except the library requires repair." Emmalia didn't comment on the being married for part. She had almost ended up with a similar fate. Married off to Ander or some other disgusting noble her parents approved of....

"The library?" Camilla asked with a gasp. "Father's library? How could Callum let our father's greatest achievement go to waste? Is it bad? He didn't set it on fire again did he?" Camilla let out an exasperated sigh. "Callum needs a wife to keep him from doing stupid things."

Emmalia ignored the wife comment and said, "It's not that bad. The books aren't damaged, one of the walls just came in. Got a bit too old, we suspect, maybe took damage in an attack ages ago. It's being repaired."

Camilla nodded her head. "Well then, are there any urgent matters to take care of? Or is this more of a house sitting sort of deal?" She joked about the last part, but would rather enjoy not having to actually run the place. Enjoy the fruits of being a Lord without taking any of the responsibility or duties.
